Respond to a request to book your home

Congrats! You have a new booking request. You have 24 hours to respond before it expires.

What happens to your calendar when a guest sends you a trip request

When a guest asks to book your place, those dates are automatically blocked on your calendar. This helps avoid scheduling conflicts with other bookings. Here's what's next:

  1. Review the trip request in your Messages as soon as you receive it
  2. Accept or decline the request within 24 hours to keep your response rate high
  3. If you accept the request (by clicking or tapping Accept in the trip request message), the dates will remain blocked
  4. If you decline the request due to scheduling conflicts, update your calendar to reflect the new availability

Before declining, review our Nondiscrimination Policy. Declining within 24 hours won't affect your Superhost status or search ranking. However, frequent declines can negatively impact reservation rates and where your listing shows up in search.

    Handling expired trip requests

If you miss the 24-hour window to respond to a trip request, it’ll expire. The dates will remain blocked on your calendar until you manually unblock them

    • Check your calendar to see if the requested dates are still blocked
    • If you want to host the guest, ask them to send a new trip request
    • Consider offering a special offer to sweeten the deal and show your willingness to accommodate them

    Updating your calendar

Always keep your calendar updated. Block unavailable dates and open dates you can accommodate.

Note: Airbnb can block your calendar if you haven’t provided all the necessary information required for your account.
