In addition to written reviews, star ratings are a way for guests to share feedback about a home.
Guests will rate homes in the following categories—so consider these when preparing for your next guest:
Note that Overall rating is its own category (not an average of the other categories).
When a guest selects a positive rating (4 or 5) for a specific category, they’ll have the option to select what stood out to them. For example, for a 5-star Check-in, guests have the option to select things they enjoyed—like “Easy to find” or “Personal welcome.”
The same is true of negative ratings for a given category. Using Check-in as an example, guests will have options like, “Hard to locate” or “Unclear instructions.”

Once at least 3 guests rate your home, the average of their overall rating scores is shown near the home’s title in search results and on the listing. Average ratings for each category can be found alongside the reviews. Preview your listing to check things out.
By default, reviews are ordered by relevance, which takes into consideration factors such as the reader's language and country of residence, among others. Find more about how reviews are ordered or sorted and how we strive to make reviews and ratings more fair and accurate.
