Need a place to unwind from busy city life? Look no further! This quaint cabin outside of San Saba sits on the Colorado River in a natural setting, and is a great place for fishing, kayaking, campfires & star-gazing. Enjoy daytrips to the surrounding Hill Country attractions. Visit San Saba's famous pecan shops & San Saba River Golf Course, Lampasas dining & sulphur springs pool, or Colorado Bend State Park (fishing, hiking, biking, caverns, Gorman Falls, & the white bass run Jan-April).
“Lovely secluded place, clean and all the amenities you need. Each room has separate min-split AC systems, so everyone can customize their sleeping temp! Good Wifi - no cable/satellite, but could probably use your own Roku/streaming device (we didn't try). DVD's and games available, as well. Easy access to the river and nice mowed area to walk around the property. Can drive close to the river for those that cannot walk very good. Less than 10 minutes to San Saba.”
This home was built by my family in 1916 when they moved to Texas from Alabama to claim land granted to them for fighting in the Battle of San Jacinto. Martha Cunningham didn't want to move to Texas unless she could have a home built like her Aunt Idora's plantation home. The home is close to 2 wineries, an olive oil company, a beautiful golf course, 4 parks and numerous pecan companies. The home has been restored with much of the original furniture and hard wood floors. It also has a great pool!
“Step back 100 years when rail was king and stately homes like this one reigned supreme. This historic home tells the story of the family that has lived in it over the span of a century. Don’t expect Netflix and DVD’s (though it does have wifi), but do expect some relaxing downtime sipping lemonades on the sprawling porch or a plunge in the covered pool that keeps it as chilly as a spring fed swimming hole, even on 100+ degree days like when we visited. Bonus, your hosts are as charming as the home.”
The LazyJ's Ranch is located Southeast of Goldthwaite in Mills County, Texas. The Farmhouse Retreat and the Cozy Casita are located in a compound occupied by the hosts John and Jeannie. A lovely spot for bird watching, star gazing (we can help you find the International Space Station and constellations), spotting deer and other wildlife, or simply sitting on the decks to read. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life! We are near wineries and Colorado Bend State Park.
“Jeannie's place is a peaceful breath of fresh air. Every detail was thoughtfully created to meet her guest's needs, providing a comfortable and beautiful space to relax in. Although only there one night, I noticed outdoor spaces to gather around a fire pit and a bar-b-que for cookouts. Her 50 acres also had a few paths to wander on and view the land. Porches offered comfy seating to sit back, relax in the breeze, and listen to birdsongs and windchimes. Jeannie's place would be perfect for a small family or several close friends who love to hang out, visit, and play games. Plus it is only 45 minutes to Colorodo Bend State Park and 90 minutes to Enchanted Rock - easy day trips. I'm also pretty sure there are wineries to visit in the area... All this to say, I would love to return to spend more time relaxing here and hope to do so!”
