Perfect little gem on Edisto. The property is so peaceful, it was the such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. That dock and the views are just magical. Stress just melts away! Recs by Tracie, Kings Farm Market and Flowers Seafood were delicious! And a ride to Boneyard Beach was an awesome trip. Thank you for the perfect rejuvenating trip!

Time Well Spent - 1 bedroom +Loft at Edisto Beach

JulieRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Great condo and on Edisto Island! It was very clean and well decorated with a nautical theme. The bedding was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The condo is a quick five minute drive to all of our favorite restaurants, the beach and the grocery store. It was very quaint and quiet with a beautiful view of the turtle filled creek and golf course. The host was very responsive and friendly and that is something that I highly admire!

Absolutely enjoyed a second year here at The Jungle house! Beautiful as always and so close to all the shops and restaurants on jungle road. The pool was amazing and so refreshing and very clean! We had a great stay here, once again. Our favorite feature is the porch swing to relax on when we come back in from the beach. Rose is a great host. Checking in and out is simple and easy! We had everything we needed for cooking in the kitchen, everything was clean and all linens and towels we needed for our stay!

We loved our stay at Seascape! The house was adorable and within walking distance to the beach. It was very peaceful, the road wasn’t busy and we saw deer in the yard almost everyday. It was a great distance to local restaurants, it was just what we needed for the week!

*NEW listing, newly renovated, 2BR, beach access

AmandaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a lovely time staying at Beach Please! The location was so close to everything we wanted to do on Edisto, and the golf course setting was very peaceful. For example, we saw the cutest deer just hanging out on the course! We also really enjoyed the sunset spot mentioned in the welcome book, and went multiple times. The size was just right for two people. It was a little difficult to get up to the loft due to the small spiral staircase, but we had everything we needed downstairs so we really only went up there once to check it out. Younger kids would be fine up there, but adults might feel a bit cramped. I would definitely consider going back to Beach Please on our next Edisto trip! My only note would be to keep your party small, and be mindful of the size of the loft when determining who will stay there.

Patty was always quick to respond and even let us know that the house was ready early. We loved the peace and quiet. The walk to the beach was closer than expected 2 blocks away. We saw the bicycles toward the end of our trip and enjoyed riding around. (Big selection of bikes). We definitely want to come again. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!!

A lovely, private place with lovely, helpful hosts. Beautiful space with a refreshing pool. Close to many restaurants, event venues, ocean, sights. Had a bit of a need to get TV directions, and Brian gave us a tutorial and extra batteries, making sure we could use the TV. Had a cool Sound Bar also! Loved the AC, and the comfy, spacious couch. Gorgeous tress everywhere. Well kept, historic house with privacy and a lot of natural light. Big closet with beach items for a trip to the ocean. Great snacks, and well equipped space. Clean, and comfortable. Nice looking pond out back with turtles!!

Beautiful 2BD/2BA Seabrook Island Villa

WilliamRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful condo in Seabrook Island! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The unit was exactly as described—clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Lecian was a wonderful host—warm, responsive, and attentive. She promptly answered all our questions and made communication a breeze. We appreciated the thoughtful welcome gesture: a snack basket and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived—such a pleasant surprise! We had planned to grill one evening but noticed the gas tank was nearly empty. Lecian wasted no time and had a replacement tank delivered the very same day. She also graciously offered us a late checkout on our departure day, which was very much appreciated. The location was fantastic, with easy access to the Beach Club. We enjoyed taking the provided bicycles on a quick five-minute ride to the club to relax by the pool and dine at Pelicans Nest. Can't wait to return!

We loved our stay here, it’s a great location on the beach, we like this area of the island as it doesn’t seem as crowded. The resort is nice and has different activities going on, we love having the poolside bar area and ice cream stand right there. The place itself was nice, clean, made good use of space. Kids loved the hall bunks. Very easy to check in and out.

Oceanfront Luxury! KING BED 65"TVs Pickleball BAR!

Kent and CandyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Condo was super easy to get to on the first floor and definitely oceanfront. Although we were on the first floor, we could still see 98% of the ocean over the dunes and easily hear the waves crashing from the balcony. We got to see a family of rabbits hopping through the dune grasses and 99.9% of the time no one is seen between our balcony and the ocean… giving the feeling of seclusion in a populated area. Everything worked as it should in every room in the condo… fantastic TVs, extremely good shower heads, sturdy beach chairs, stout beach umbrella w/ anchor, comfortable plush leather sofa, and a very comfy form fitting memory foam king bed with plenty of pillows for even the finicky sleeper. 99% of my kitchen needs were met…i’ll remember the cooking spray next time. The plush white sand was a pleasant surprise as well as how level and firm the sand gets when the tide goes out, great for bocce ball! BTW, just about any kind of tent, wind shade or popup is allowed on the beach.

The Hampton House

BeauRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This is a nice house with a lot of really great perks. The golf cart, kayaks, fishing rods, beach equipment, and more made it easy to enjoy the week. The location is peaceful and ideal for fishing but not perfect for swimming or waves; we went to adjacent Hunting Island State Park for the kids to ride waves (a state park pass is included by the host). We enjoyed our week!

We had the most incredible time staying at Corrie’s place in Folly Beach for our moms getaway girls trip! The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to the beach, fun bars and restaurants, and a super cool 24/7 market. The house itself is a dream—spacious, luxurious, and designed with the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor lounge areas to relax and connect. The hot tub and pool were absolutely next level. Corrie was a fantastic host, and everything was seamless from start to finish. If you’re considering booking—stop looking and just do it!!!! We’d come back in a heartbeat!

Beautifully Transformed Upper Level Deluxe Villa

IsaiahRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This place, though it’s not closer to the Ocean was very nice and quiet. Being on the top floor was nice because no one came up to bother us or had a reason to walk upstairs other than the paint workers who were painting the building toward the beginning of our stay and asked us to move our vehicle so it didn’t get overspray on it. The place was very clean and it smelled good when we first walked in where it had been prepped for us ahead. Having a washer and dryer was very nice but it is a small one so that just meant we had to do a couple extra loads which was no big deal. The one drawback we realized was that there isn’t an iron so we had to get creative to prevent wrinkled clothes but maybe that was just us overlooking it if there was one in there. Sharon was awesome and was always responding quickly to the few questions we had during our stay. Everything was simple and straightforward for checking in and checking out. We would definitely stay here again when the time comes.

Private Island Cottage

JenniferRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We had a lovely stay—this place truly felt like a private island paradise! The island is peaceful and secluded, and getting around by golf cart added to the charm. We spotted deer, hummingbirds, and even dolphins—it was magical. We read one review mentioning the door didn’t lock, it does, you must lift up on the handle. Plus, the home is in a gated community, and we felt completely safe the entire time. The hosts were wonderful—easy to communicate with and very friendly. They're right next door but respectful of privacy—we only saw them in passing. All around, a relaxing and special getaway. Highly recommend! 🌿🌊

Your guide to Edisto Beach

Introduction

Quietly perched on a sparsely developed island between Charleston and Savannah, Edisto Beach is one of South Carolina’s hidden secrets: a family-friendly beach town virtually untouched by tourism. The area wasn’t established as a community until the 1920s, when locals began arriving at low tide, traveling across the saltwater marsh on beds of oyster shells. Most of the makeshift retreats built during that time were destroyed in hurricanes, but development began to take off in the 1990s. Still, it’s restrained. Just 500 people call Edisto Beach home year-round, and they pride themselves on the town’s relaxed, low-key lifestyle and absence of commercialism. There aren’t any colorful nightlife strips, nor a single traffic light. Instead, locals and visitors stroll or bike Palmetto Boulevard looking for shells or admiring the panoramic ocean views, soaking in Edisto Beach’s slower way of life.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Edisto Beach

Located squarely in the center of the Gulf Coast, Edisto Beach is affected by the Gulf Stream, which warms its waters and lends the air its heavy humidity. The town’s subtropical climate means that temperatures typically peak in the high 80s Fahrenheit during the summer, dropping to the 40s in winter. If you’re staying in one of Edisto Beach’s vacation rentals during tropical storm season (late summer through early fall) keep a close watch on local weather reports. Although the town has been spared by major hurricanes in the past, it remains vulnerable given its position on the gulf.

Top things to do in Edisto Beach

Kiawah Island

Edisto Beach’s neighbor to the north is Kiawah Island, a beach community known equally as a luxury hospitality destination and one of South Carolina’s best preserved habitats for local flora and fauna. Unlike a handful of privately owned islands in the area, Kiawah is open to the public despite being largely managed by resort properties.

Edisto Island

Though Edisto Beach is technically located on Edisto Island, the two are in separate counties and couldn’t be more different. Edisto Island proper is sparsely populated, covered with the ruins of former plantations and colonial-era buildings. Many have been redeveloped for tourism and resorts, logged on the National Register of Historic Places. The island is also home to the 1,255-acre Edisto Beach State Park, covered with hiking and biking trails, and boardwalks extending over natural salt marshes.

ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge

Named for the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto Rivers, the massive ACE Basin spans more than 350,000 acres on Edisto Island. The wildlife refuge itself is just less than 12,000 acres, making it one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the Atlantic Coast; it’s about a 40-minute drive from Edisto Beach, and open year-round to visitors, with limited hunting and fishing.
