Beautiful farm setting in Lanark

40 minutes west of Kanata, ON in Lanark Highlands, 20 kms west of Almonte. The Doll House is a small cottage that overlooks the garden, with a queen size bed, heated and air conditioned, has a small fridge, kettle and coffee maker and a small BBQ. There is a sink and toilet in the Doll House and an OUTDOOR hot shower. We also have the Gate House to rent (see my other listing) which has 2 single beds, sitting area, kitchenette and bathroom with shower for $125 a night. Come, enjoy the farm!

Some places are just houses. Others hold space and pause. From the first moment we walked in, "The River Retreat" welcomed us like a warm hug. My siblings and I came here to honour the one-year anniversary of our mother’s passing, and it ended up being exactly what we needed. Peaceful, cozy, and full of thoughtful touches. Every room, view, and amenity gave us a chance to breathe, reflect, and spend quality family time together. We tried all the amenities, including the hot tub, canoe, kayaks, fire pit, and pool table. But our favourite pass time and location was definitely the home cooked meals around the round table overlooking the river. We left feeling full in every sense. Thank you Marlene and Morgan for being such fantastic hosts! We’ll absolutely be back.

The kitchen had everything we needed and Brenan was welcoming, friendly and generous, letting us use his BBQ so we could eat outdoors and enjoy his lovely backyard. This place is incredibly peaceful, with beautiful surroundings. There's a great walking path—about 3 km one way. There’s also a canoe and a kayak available, which is a great bonus. Suzanna and Fred were the perfect hosts. We shared many wonderful conversations, and they were always helpful with anything we needed. Their hospitality truly made our stay special. We would definitely go back happily and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Just don’t forget your bug spray!
