Cottage vacation rentals in Barra

Roskhill cottage is awesome. We spent 5 nights here and made our stay truly special. The house have everything you may need and more, the beautiful view and garden filled with flowers, the BBQ hut it’s a great plus, comfortable beds, impeccable clean, good size bathroom and shower, close to little groceries stores, delicious bakery and good coffee, Dunvegan Castle and gardens and fantastic walkings around, plus gorgeous Coos cows! Really worthy place. Highly recommended.

Eine außergewöhnliche Auszeit auf der Isle of Skye. Wir haben uns in der Unterkunft sofort wohlgefühlt, die Einrichtung ist total liebevoll, es war super sauber und der Ausblick einmalig. Es ist alles da was man braucht. Besonders heimelig war der elektrische Kamin und natürlich der Whirlpool, den wir gerne genutzt haben. David war für Rückfragen immer zu erreichen und ausgesprochen freundlich. In Summe einer der schönsten Aufenthalte, die wir in einem Airbnb je hatten :)

One of the loveliest places we've ever stayed! Superb and spacious accommodation, beautifully decorated and really well & thoughtfully equipped - it will *exceed* your expectations. With the sauna and hot tub, it's not easy to drag yourself out of the house! And to top it off, the view across the loch is utterly mesmerising. Vivienne was a great host, letting us know everything we needed and leaving a lovely welcome pack. The house is in a peaceful location that is still handy for the main road and great for interesting local walks .... if you can drag yourself away! Can't recommend highly enough 😊

The house on the Isle of Skye was more than big enough gorgeous four or even five people. The cozy living room was great for the evenings. The company, holidaycottages, was very professional and gave us all the information we needed. And in case of an emergency or other needs, the phonenumber of the owner was available as well. The view from the house was amazing as well and the wood stove and the jacuzzi were great bonuses. Would definitely book again!

What a lovely gem of a place ! We came here for a week on the recommend of a friend who stayed here a few years ago and we were not disappointed. Fantastic location, only a few minutes drive from both the ferry terminal and airport, with the beach within walking distance and gunbarrel views of the planes taking off and landing. Along with the great location there is a well stocked house, lovely dog friendly garden and good internet connection. Great coffee & cake available close by at Ardmhor coffee (based in the ferry terminal) and also at the unexpectedly good airport cafe. Any number of glorious beaches within a short drive. Good, friendly communication from the owner at all times. We had a lovely stay here & would highly recommend.

Lagan Glas is a beautiful, luxurious cottage in a magnificent location. We had a fantastic week on Skye as a family of 5 with our Labrador. The cottage has everything you’d want for some relaxation time: XBox for the kids, log burner to drink a whisky by and stunning views to stare out to. The kitchen and dining area are superb and very well equipped and the bathrooms likewise. The location in Glendale is stunning (as is every corner of Skye) with a lovely circular walk via a rocky beach for the dog to run about and an excellent cafe for a pit stop. There’s also a very special vegetarian restaurant and tea room not far away. Karen is super helpful and swift in her responses, with excellent local insight and suggestions. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Lagan Glas and Skye in general.

Fantastic place to stay while exploring North & South Uist and Benbecula. The house was a home from home with everything we needed. There was only two of us but it could comfortably sleep up to six. Will definitely stay here again if it’s available when back in the area.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. David and Jayne have lovingly restored this little house into a great 2 bed holiday home. It is thoughtfully laid out for self catering and a joy to stay in. Plenty of space, not too much clutter and it’s super. clean. Would recommend to anyone. We loved our stay and were sad to leave!

This was our second stay at Rhonda's home in South Uist. Rhonda is so lovely and helpful, giving us ferry updates and phoning us to make sure everything is perfect. The home is so cozy and has absolutely gorgeous views. We will be back!

grimsay is possibly the best place from which to explore the western isles, and Roberts place is in one of the best locations on air b n b. if you have a dog then the place is without minuw points. the house is well lived in but is has every appliance you need and in working order. we found it clean and airy with a nice selection of books, games and DVDs etc. the price charged was very very reasonable. we would not hesitate to return. PS thanks for the wine and biccies!

Our family of four spent a magical week in Scotland at several different places and this was our favorite. We felt immediately peaceful in what felt like our own bay. Loved the views, the sheep/cows, and the touches like a wood burning fireplace. Would recommend to anyone who wants to “get away”. Loved it!

This is a really lovely place, spotlessly clean and very cosy, with a super comfortable bed. Every kitchen utensil you could possibly need is there. The shower was great, as well. The location is very quiet and peaceful, and, despite my misgivings, it is really easy to find. Many thanks to Vicki, who was incredibly friendly, responsive and patient. I would definitely stay again.

Genau so haben wir uns ein Haus in Schottland vorgestellt! Absolut romantisch und sehr gemütlich. Besonders die Bank im Vorgarten hat uns gefallen. Einsame und traumhafte Lage. Hier lässt es sich richtig entspannen!

We have a great time at Sandra‘s place in Brevig Bay. It was the perfect base for us to discover the beautiful island. Plenty of space for six people.

Anke’s cottage on Barra is a slice of heaven. Dubbed “Barradise”, the island’s beauty, wild yet peaceful, is breathtaking. We enjoyed several hikes, each offering stunning views and serenity. The cottage, while a bit cold due to the season, was made warm by Anke’s care. She provided extra heaters and a kind partial refund for unnoticed storm damage. It’s cozy, with a special charm and an amazing sea view, offering magical sunrises. Can’t wait to return to this cozy haven!

We really enjoyed our stay at Easter Byre. Such a peaceful location. The cottage has been restored to a beautiful standard and was very well appointed, especially in the kitchen. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We didn't meet Jacqueline but her husband John was very helpful and attentive. They also laid on the weather and we saw North Uist at it's best! We even enjoyed a meal outside on the lovely garden furniture. The views of St Kilda from the nearby viewpoint were the best we've ever seen and we roamed as far as Berneray, Grimsby, Benbecula and the north end of South Uist. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Wow what a fantastic place to stay in Harris. Neil met us when we arrived and showed us around and he explained how everything worked. He made you feel very welcome right from the start. There was so much history in the cottage about Neil and Jocelyn past it was incredible, we was told to treat it like it was ours which was lovely. The little jar of flapjack went down a treat and also the bread that was such a lovely thought. The view from the lounge window was incredible I couldn't stop looking out wow wow wow. We certainly hope to come back again one day. All the best to you both 🥰

Margarets Unterkunft ist einfach traumhaft: Eine wunderschöne Lage, großzügige Raumgestaltung und dabei sehr schön eingerichtet. Zum Empfang gab es sowohl im Kühlschrank und als auch in der Küche einen leckeren Gruß, außerdem waren in mehren Bereichen frische Schnittblumen. Der Kaminofen macht auch an Regentagen behaglich warm und der Ausblick im Wintergarten ist einfach umwerfend. Wir können die Unterkunft und die Gastgeberin in jedem Falle weiterempfehlen und wenn wir nochmals nach Skye kommen, ist das unsere Unterkunft. Vielen Dank Silke und Roman

A lovely, well equiped small home in a very peaceful location. Our hosts were kind and responsive and very helpful in accomodating us when our ferry to leave the island was cancelled. The kitchen is very well equiped, a lot better than many AirBnbs, the shower in the bathroom is excellent, the house is warm owing to an efficient thermost contolled system, and ther is a good mattress on the bed. As many other guests have said an ideal base for exploring Benbecula and The Uists, and easy to get to from Lochmaddy and Lochboisdale. This a property we would book again if we can back to the Outer Hebrides

Firstly; Peter was a very responsive, informative and “friendly” host - right from the start of our booking process, through to post departure. The Cottage was set in a very peaceful and idyllic location nestled in between three breathtaking beaches (only minutes away by foot), one of which has the iconic gate entrance and is seen on many postcards. The 25 minute costal drive from Castlebay (Barra) is equally as stunning. The Cottage was cozy, and tastefully equipped / stocked with everything you would find at home (except freezer, which was not a problem for us), allowing for a comfortable stay. Take your time and no rushing up and down the stairs. If we were ever to return (which we hope to), this Beautiful home away from home would be our first choice. We left with full hearts after an epic stay that exceeded our expectations in every way. So, THANK YOU Peter!! Truly Amazing!!
