The Manor on Camelback

Water jets sparkle under the desert sun and firelight glows against white stucco walls at this sleek-outside, welcoming-inside retreat in the shadow of Camelback Mountain. Though its ranch-style layout looks low profile, the villa’s rooms stretch out beneath soaring wood-paneled ceilings. From its setting in sought-after Arcadia, it’s a few minutes to Scottsdale’s trails, golf, and shopping. Walls shield the villa’s backyard from view, making it feel like a private resort, without getting in the way of the mountain views. Spend sunny days in a lounger by the heated pool and hot tub and competing on the bocce and putting areas. Come nightfall, heat up the barbecue for an alfresco dinner and watch the stars come out from around the 4 firepits. At the heart of the property’s 7,500 square feet is an open-concept great room that encompasses 2 living areas, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen with a wide breakfast bar. A vaulted wood-paneled ceiling, fireplace, and cognac leather accents add warmth to the airy space, while neon art is a playful surprise in one corner. Though it’s known for its tree-lined streets and quiet, family-friendly vibe, the Arcadia neighborhood also makes a great holiday base, thanks to its location just 3 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale and 15 minutes from downtown Phoenix. Take a picnic to one of the nearby parks, sample the treats at local bakeries, and tee off at the 4 golf courses within a 10-minute drive. Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. Entertainment Oasis

There’s no better place to watch the big game, or play one yourself, than this exciting entertainment paradise in Scottsdale. Shoot a round of mini-golf, pool, or cornhole; the list goes on-and-on. There’s even a playground for the kids. After all the activity, relax with a soothing soak in the hot tub. Then, head out for a little bar hopping 9-miles from home in Scottsdale’s Old Town. Before you head out for the night, sit with old friends at the wet bar for a beer while the chef in your group whips up a quick snack in the spacious kitchen at the opposite end of the open-concept living room. Not quite ready to go? Stay in and organize a poker tournament, throw a pool party, or find a partner for a game of doubles pickleball. If you’re keeping up with your fitness routine on vacation, you’ve come to the right place. There’s also a home gym.  Scottsdale is a haven for people who love the outdoors. Hiking and cycling are great ways to enjoy the rugged environment and snap a few gorgeous landscape photos. The McDowell Sonoran Preserve has over 100-miles of hiking trails to explore. Explore artsy Phoenix

The fifth most populous city in the United States, Phoenix continues to grow in cultural and economic stature. Although many are drawn to the Phoenix area by sport – the city boasts professional baseball, football, basketball, and ice-hockey teams, as well as over 200 golf courses, there is much more here to discover. For art-lovers, there is the Phoenix Art Museum, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, the R. Pela Contemporary Art Gallery, and the Heard Museum, which is dedicated to Native American art. Phoenix’s retail scene has also blossomed in recent years, so as well as high-end designer boutiques shoppers will find offbeat independent stores selling unique pieces from around Arizona and beyond. From a culinary perspective, Phoenix has emerged as a pioneer in south-western cuisine, so be sure to sample the local restaurants, many of which are heavily influenced by the city’s proximity to the Mexican border.

Experience Sedona’s mystical charm

Locals refer to Sedona as a cathedral without walls, and indeed this desert town just south of the city of Flagstaff has a reputation as a center for spirituality. Although it might sound a little New-Age, Sedona is believed by many to be the site of a number of ‘vortexes’, which radiate the earth’s power and exert a strong force on anyone nearby. Whether you believe this or not, the town and its surroundings are undeniably beautiful, with dramatic, rust-red formations such as Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte, all well worth exploring. Afterwards, head into the compact town center, which is bustling with shops, art galleries, and gourmet restaurants.
