“We had a rest in Astro House II in September 2019. We lived on the top floor with a balcony. A beautiful, bright house - there is everything you need and even more))) All kinds of dishes, microwave, stove, dishwasher, grill for sandwiches, coffee maker, etc. Cozy home decor, 100% clean. The location is good for traveling to any region of Crete. Parking for a car near the house, by the way, you can rent a car from Michael at a very attractive price. We took the Hyundai I20 for 405 euros for three weeks. At the top there is also a terrace with sunbeds and a shower, we did not use it, because left in the morning, arrived in the evening. There are also clothes dryers (two washing machines are available). Linen changed once a week and once a week was cleaned. You can use beach towels, umbrellas, there are a large number of children's toys. The nearest beach (pebble, small, clean, sheltered from waves) with a picturesque church is a 15-minute walk, there is also a tavern with fresh fish. And next to the house is another tavern with a delicious cappuccino and an inexpensive menu. WiFi works well, with a single failure, Michael quickly fixed the problem. Michael at the appointed time met us at the airport, at home we were welcomed with fruits and a bottle of Cretan wine. Michael also treated us with his olive oil and even gave us a bottle of goodbye. A very friendly, hospitable and caring person, we are glad that we are so lucky with the owner, ready to solve all problems and help at any time. Thanks Michael! The only thing that upset us a bit was the rare but loud noise from cars / motorbikes / neighbors morning and evening. But this was to be expected - this is not a villa in the mountains or by the sea, but a house in a Greek village. There is a solution to this problem - closing all doors and windows to the street and turning on an excellent modern air conditioning in the living room. I recommend to all travelers who are interested in traveling and seeing all the beauties of Crete, and there are plenty of them on this wonderful island! I recommend to everyone who is looking for a cheerful, friendly and conscientious host!”
A charming, cozy and beautiful Villa in Argyroupoli village,a location where ancient Lappa was amphitheatrically built. It was constructed back in 1900’s and recently renovated, shaping a traditional yet modern intimate of 200 sq.m. It can accommodate up to 8 people in 3 bedrooms. Multiple yards beneath the old trees have view across the village and guests can relax in2 sitting rooms. The construction of wood and stone and many authentic antique objects gives the house a particular aesthetic.
“Our family of three stayed at Eleni and Vagelis’ stunning Villa for 11 nights in August and I can only sum up our stay as perfect. Arriving in Argyroupolis had already taken our breath away, after a short drive up into the mountains to this tiny, peaceful and beautiful village. Eleni met us in the village square and lead us up a further short climb up the the villa itself, and as soon as the door was opened we felt like our holiday had arrived. The space is impeccably clean and more spacious that we could have hoped for. We were 2 adults and a 5yo, but the villa would easily be comfortable enough for twice that. The main entrance up a few steps through to a small courtyard and the front door, opens to a small living area, with a spacious and well equipped kitchen (with small dining table) to the right and a larger dining area just ahead. This also connects to a small bathroom and large double bedroom. Further ahead the villa opens up to a huge living room, with enough sofas for us to each have our own space and beautiful wooden beamed high ceiling and tiled floor, which kept the space cool and airy and gives a real feel of luxury. Toward the back of the property you will find a large, spacious bathroom and the two bedrooms that we used during our stay. The outside areas are what truly made this home so special. Being high up in the mountain and having an array of terraces surrounding the property, gave us almost 360 degree views and enabled us to see this beautiful island from the perfect spot. Our breakfast every morning was accompanied with scenery filled with mountains, the sea, and beautiful little villages dotted around the landscape. A barbecue is also provided, which made for a wonderful evening meal. Other things to note of the property are a satellite TV, air con and fast and reliable WIFI. The village itself is stunning and quiet, with a well stocked mini market, various cafés and a handful of shops selling local craft. A 10 minute walk up into the village then back down towards the main road took us to a wonderful restaurant, Ancient Lappa Tavern, which we visited on a number of occasion and highly recommend. Having a car for the stay was essential and just a short 10 minute drive brings you to the coast and a choice of beaches, all with free sun beds and various bar/restaurants. We also recommend visiting Rethymno for the weekly market and Chania, which comes to life as the sun sets! On the last day of our stay we drove high up into the mountains near Chania and visited a magical restaurant called Ntounias, where every dish is made using ingredients from the owner’s farm and cooked over open wood fire. Eleni was a wonderful and kind host, eager to make sure that we had everything that was needed, but taking care in letting us get on with our holiday. She was always very quick to respond and came to say goodbye to us on the last day. Our trip to Crete was filled with amazing food, gorgeous landscape, genuinely friendly people and this was all highlighted by the perfect home. Thank you to Eleni and family, we very highly recommend their Villa.”
“In this accommodation we spent the second half of the vacation. We decided to live in the mountains after the seashore. Very nice view from the terrace. Breakfast and dinner at a table with a view of the mountains - it is unforgettable! The house is clean and comfortable, everything is at hand in the kitchen, a modern hob, an oven (but we did not use it). It feels like we were at home, not at a party. Maria left a letter with a little instruction and advice in English. It was very helpful. We could easily communicate with Sofia, Maria’s mother and mistress of the house, despite the fact that she spoke German, and we, unfortunately, speak only English. The town itself with a very interesting history, nice and welcoming. I recommend the tavern Lappa Avocado. The hostess doesn’t speak English there either, but that didn’t stop us from eating deliciously and getting a bunch of grapes from their "roof garden". A stone's throw from the tavern there is a supermarket. The nearest beach is Episkopi, about 15 minutes away by car. With strong winds there are big waves and no one bathes. In this case, it is better to go to the south of the island - to the beaches of Frangokastello, Plakias or Preveli. At Preveli, get ready for a long descent down the stone stairs. Well, then to climb it.”
