Nishimura-Tei Hanare ― 100-year-old traditional house with kitchen & dining

Nishimura Residence is an old-fashioned Nara-machiya that has been standing on a piece of Nara-machi for more than 100 years. I was a “grandmother” for a long time when I was a child. In Nara Town, there is a pleasant despicable feeling that never changes. "I want to be filled with this pleasant contempt even for future generations." With that in mind, I took care of the empty Nishimura Residence. - Nishimura-Tei is originally a traditional Japanese house which has been here in Nara-machi town over 100 years, where my grandmother used to live in. My mother and I decided to renovate this house to preserve and pass down the virtue of good old days in Japan to the next generation as well as to show it to you.

The house is in a quiet, traditional area of Nara with smooth access to the station and main sightseeing spots. You’ll have 2 guest rooms upstairs with a toilet and washbasin. The shower room is on the first floor. Each room has a lock for your privacy. There are 3 futon beds and 1 double bed. Meals are available if reserved 2 days in advance: sukiyaki dinner (6,500 JPY/person) breakfast (1000 JPY/person) I also run a cozy café nearby, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The surroundings are full of nature, and if you are lucky, you can see animals such as wild deer, boars and squirrels. In addition to burning charcoal in the fireplace and enjoying the burning fire, you can enjoy the following as fireplace dishes. (We prepare 1 box of charcoal. Please prepare your food.) ・Hot pot dishes using an iron pot ・Grilled fish using long bamboo skewers ・Roasted sweet potato ・Grilled meat dishes using iron pan ・Grilled rice balls using a net.

You can rent out the entire 4-bedroom guesthouse! Located in a prime location in the middle of a shopping district, it is very convenient for dining, shopping, and sightseeing such as Kofukuji Temple, where you can see wild deer. There are four bedrooms surrounding a spacious central living room. After enjoying meals and chatting together in the living room, you can sleep peacefully in one of the four bedrooms. The air-conditioned house features 3 bedrooms(2 tatami room and 1 Western-style room) and 1 bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. In the well-fitted kitchen, guests will find a stovetop, a refrigerator, a microwave and kitchenware. The house offers a washing machine, along with a balcony.
