Why locals recommend it

Fabulous park with monuments, tennis courts, and kid's playgrounds (x2!), and also close to many excellent restaurants on Dekalb Ave. A great place to relax and people-watch. Check out the Farmer's Market every Saturday along the park's east side.

Fort Greene Park is another must visit if you want to get a feel for Brooklyn. We were lucky enough to live across the street from it about 15 years ago. On Saturdays there's a Greenmarket on Washington Park and Dekalb. The surrounding neighborhood of Fort Greene is filled with tree lined streets and historic homes. There are tons of great restaurants on Dekalb - we love Walter's! Coffee at Bittersweet is also delicious. If you love bookstores, Greenlight on Fulton is a local favorite.

A beautiful park and just a few minutes away! Take a right on Myrtle up to Washington Park. You will see it in front of you. A great spot for people-watching, especially on the weekends. We also like to bring a blanket and some food and picnic when the weather is nice.
