Enjoy a stroll along this old railway line that used to serve Weymouth to Portland. Come off at points to see Sandsfoot Castle and Smallmouth bay.
From Portland to Weymouth, the Legacy Trail follows a disused passenger railway line, now a wonderfully, accessible wildlife corridor. The Rodwell Trail from Weymouth to Ferrybridge is a fully surfaced route suitable for walkers, bicycles and mobility scooters.
Running along the north edge of Portland Harbour, the Rodwell Trail is a flat, traffic free route that links the causeway with Weymouth Town Centre. Whether walking, cycling or scooting, it's the ideal place to get a bit of exercise with the promise of a beach and an ice-cream at the other end! Park on Osprey Road (Weymouth) and head down the ramp to access the trail. Turn right for a short stroll to sandy Smallmouth Cove, or turn left for Sandsfoot Gardens, Castle Cove Beach and Weymouth Town Centre beyond.
