Check out the ruins of the old luxury hotel on Echo Mountain. Continue on to Inspiration Point, or as far as you like. Great for a morning hike, or in the afternoon in coolerr weather.

Gorgeous hike (five miles/2 hours return trip). You can see clear down to Long Beach on a good day.

If you want incredible views of the region much higher up than the Hollywood Hills, complete with an abandoned railroad and hotel at the summit, give yourself some time for this hike. Do not do on a hot day.

The Sam Merril Trail in Pasadena is a real gem. Hike to the old hotel ruins at the top. It’s a hard hike, about 5 miles, and you can keep on to Inspiration Point for an even better view.
