The Carter Center is a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. He and his wife Rosalynn Carter partnered with Emory University.
A look into the history of the Egypt Israel peace treaty, the energy crisis, the founding of Habitat for Humanity and the Carters' work on free elections and world health. Weekends, there is also a farmer's market on site. Beautiful grounds.
The Carter Center and Carter Library are in a very peaceful setting in the middle of a vibrant eastside ATL neighborhood. Well worth the 15 minute drive.... especially if you like history.
