Tips from locals
Japanese grocery store; great Bento Boxes, sushi, and fun to try new things. Local produce, too.
If you enjoy fresh seafood this is your kind of place. I highly recommend their poke which is flown in fresh daily. Get there before 2pm when they typically run out. 3 miles/9 minute drive from house
Mini super-market has everything a Japanese food-lover could want. Try the tuna poke, if they haven't sold out! Kids love the glass-marble-topped sodas and seaweed rice crackers. Okay, so do I. ;)
A beloved local Japanese grocery store. This family-owed specialty market has served Sacramento's Asian community for several decades. You can find just about anything you need especially produce from local farmers. Their hot foods are affordable, delicious, and frequently sell out, so consider calling ahead if you have something in mind! Mr. Yamamoto, a former restaurant owner and disciple of the famous Shige-san, makes delicious and affordable sushi with quality ingredients. Everyone here is friendly, but the store has old-people hours. Unfortunately, they do not accept EBT at this time.
