Mountainbiking in ancestral communities
Arriving at my office, I provide you with a good quality mountain bike according to your height, helmet and a bottle with purified water. I will give an introduction of the use of the brakes and adequate use for the speeds for uphill and downhill. I explain the journey with the altimetry profile and photos of the places we will visit, which is a small indigenous community "Carmen de Arcotete" with areas of cultivation, vegetables, maize, pine forests and oaks. Our tour starts with a 5 km ascent on the asphalt road leaving the city. We will have breaks where I talk about culture and traditions of the Mayan Tzotzil people of Chiapas, the use of medicinal plants or whatever is of your interest. We move on on dirty roads and trails within the Maya community, observing and recognizing their ancestral customs. Then we will visit an ecological-community park "el Arcotete" where we can walk on the side of the river and visit a small cave. We will return with ups and downs and we will have panoramic views of the city. Duration: 4-5 hours, Distance: 20km. Physical level: medium-difficult. Other things to note Know how to ride a bicycle. You don´t need to be a mountain biker. In difficult stretches you can walk. Physical condition: Exercise 2 times / week. A liability contract will be signed
Adventure to a Hidden Waterfall - On Motorcycle
Experience a true adventure and see Chiapas in a whole new way! :) We will travel on the original Pan-American highway, one of the most beautiful and diverse roads in the state! We'll start in the mountainous forest, traverse small indigenous villages, navigate through jungle and farmland before stopping at the rarely visited, local waterfall and cave of El Chorreadero. (Bring a bathing suit!) There we'll have the opportunity to eat lunch or snacks. And then we’ll do it all over again on the way back! Riding time is approx. 3 hours, 175km. If you'd just like to relax and take in the views, you're welcome to ride as a passenger with an experienced motorcycle guide. If you are an experienced rider and would like to ride on your own, there are a few different options. I offer a Honda CGL 125, a Honda XR190L, or a 400cc Royal Enfield Himalayan (+500 pesos.) Please note, all bikes are manual/standards. This route is suitable for beginners and is entirely on road. If you have experience riding and would like to bring along a pillion, they are welcome to join with no extra charge. Agua Azul, Misol Há y Palenque en un día
Esta aventura comienza muy temprano, antes de que salga el sol, toma camino para descubrir tres joyas impresionantes de Chiapas. Nuestra primera parada será en Agua Azul un conjunto de cascadas creadas por las corrientes de los ríos Otulún, Shumuljá y Tulijá, que forman cañones no muy profundos con acantilados verticales de un precioso color azul, en donde podrás nadar y disfrutar de las diferentes áreas durante 1 hora y 30 minutos. Continua este recorrido hacia nuestro segundo punto de interés, las impresionantes cascadas de Misol-Há, ubicadas a 30 metros de altura, esta belleza de la naturaleza ubicada en medio de la selva te ofrece un espectáculo sin igual, relájate con el sonido del agua y explora sus alrededores. Nuestra última parada es en el sitio arqueológico de Palenque, majestuosa y enigmática, esta es una zona impresionante llena de magia y cultura, donde se encuentran las ruinas de una importante ciudad capital del mundo maya. Esta zona fue nombrada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO debido a su inmensa riqueza histórica y cultural. Tejiendo con Telar Prehispánico
La técnica de telar de cintura es una tradición ancestral de las mujeres mayas de Chiapas. El telar de cintura se amarra al extremo de un árbol y el otro extremo se sostiene en la cintura con un mecapal. Tiene varios componentes: una serie de varas de madera empleadas para lograr el ancho de la tela y para tramar los hilos. En este taller, impartido por Ana Gonzales y Teresa Hernández , maestras tejedora mayas tsotsiles , los asistentes podrán comenzar un textil utilizando las técnicas ancestral de telar de cintura. Más allá del tejido, se trata de una experiencia en la que los integrantes podrán profundizar en esta antigua tradición textil, entender cómo se compone un telar de cintura y las distintas técnicas que existen de acuerdo a los municipios donde se realizan (los Altos de Chiapas) 3 sesiones de 4h cada una Sesión 1.- Introducción a la historia del telar prehispánico, nociones básicas y reconocimiento de herramienta utilizado en el telar de cintura. Sesión 2.- El asistente comenzará el proceso de tejido desde el urdidor y preparar el telar para comenzar a tejer su pieza. Sesión 3.- Seguiremos con el proceso de tejido y descubriremos la técnica del brocado. Al final del taller, el participante se llevará su pieza tejida así como su telar de cintura prehispánico para poder seguir practicando desde casa

Alfarerox1día proyecto que promueve y difunde el oficio de la alfarería tradicional como parte del patrimonio cultural de México. ¡Vive la experiencia con nosotros! -Sé alfarerox1día- Te platicamos de manera introductoria los procesos tradicionales de refinación de las arcillas, las diferentes técnicas de elaboración, sus tiempos de secado, los tipos de hornos, las temperaturas y los diferentes métodos de decoración. Ahora llevemos la teoría a la práctica. Juntos prepararemos y trabajaremos el barro para iniciar con la diversión. Es momento de sobar y elaborar un bulto compacto de arcilla en forma circular. La colocaremos en el torno tradicional de patada, un herramienta que requiere la utilización de los pies para hacerla girar, donde al mismo tiempo nuestras manos trabajan la pieza en la parte superior. Nuestro cuerpo entra en contacto visual y corporal tocando con las manos, el agua y el barro. Te hare una demostración y te acompañare en el proceso. En este punto es necesario concentrarse dejarnos fluir con el ritmo, la coordinación y las sensaciones. Nos detenemos un poco para degustar un poco de pox y estaremos listos para practicar de poco en poco, jugaremos y crearemos una pieza única, hecha por ti mismo, que podrás llevarte a casa. Con la finalidad de lograr conectar con los 4 elementos, de realizar una actividad terapéutica, relajante y divertida.
Learn from the young producers
We will explain in detail the new Mexican design and craftsmanship, and how the young locals are re interpreting their heritage and deconstructing the concepts they grew up with. (we change the order and number of stops depending on the day and the availability of the studios) We'll explore the techniques, what makes our projects unique and different from the rest; you'll be immersed in the handmade scene of San Cristobal. All the stops include gifts/demonstrations and samples. Other things to note. El Tzitz: Mexican Cooking Classes
We'll meet at El Tzitz at 10:30am. We'll take a short walk to the market, where we'll enjoy a tour of San Cristobal's largest outdoor market. We'll learn about the different varieties of beans and corn, local herbs, fruits, and vegetables, and perhaps even taste a few of the less known fruits. Then we'll head back to El Tzitz, where we will start cooking. Step by step, we'll learn how to prepare the meal and cook it together. Everyone participates and joins the fun! Finally, we'll enjoy the meal together.
Customs of indigenous villages, Chiapas
We will travel to San Juan Chamula, where its people, descendants of the Mayas, have fought to preserve the customs of their ancestors now mixed with the Catholic religion. These customs and rituals we can see in the famous church of Chamula. We will continue to the cemetery. I will explain the uses and customs of the place. Dare to taste the traditional brandy made from corn. The next stop will be the Art Tex Independent Art Gallery. Here you will meet the local painter Tex Lopez and works by local artists inspired by their daily life and village festivities. We will make a stop for breakfast (not included) with a spectacular view of the mountains. It is an option out of the common route for the massive operators. If you are not interested, we can skip it and adapt the tour according to your interest. The second town is Zinacantán, a town dedicated to planting, trading and growing flowers. This last activity gives rise to an explosion of color and textures that dominate the life of the place. We will visit the town, the Church of San Lorenzo and we will learn about the importance of the uses and customs of the place. A Tzotzil family dedicated to the creation of garments on a waist loom will receive us at their home, where we identify the traditional technique and embroidery.
