Parks & Nature

There's nothing better than a summer concert at Kirstenbosch Gardens on a Sunday afternoon. The Botanical Gardens are world famous and definitely worth a visit. We've supplied equipment if you'd like to picnic. Or else there are a couple of restaurants and a tea garden. (Please remember to bring your trash home with you if you picnic- as per Kirstenbosch rules). There are guided walks and hikes in the garden and also up Table Mountain. Refer to the Kirstenbosch website for further info. Remember to take sunblock and a cardigan or jacket as Cape Town can experience 4 seasons in a day! http://www.sanbi.org/gardens/kirstenbosch

Robben Island is where Nelson Mandela spent many of his years of imprisonment. Taking a tour of the prison is definitely worth doing. Apart from the historical aspect of it, the view of Table Mountain from the island is a sight to behold

The Hop on Hop off red bus tour is a fantastic way to see Cape Town. There are stops at most of the major tourist destinations, each with an experience waiting to be had. Here are all their current Cape Town stops: https://www.citysightseeing.co.za/cape-town/stops

Shopping

V&A Waterfront is a one of a kind experience, with the shopping mall set up in a working harbour. There is plenty to do here, but perhaps the best thing is to just take a walk around and discover why so many Capetonians love it. Fact: The most heard quote at the Waterfront is "I love this place." If you're hungry, take a look at Gibsons (burgers); Balducci (pasta/pizza); or Dalliance (one of a kind style of eating)

The Cape Quarter is just down the road. You can do your grocery shopping, browse the upmarket stores and enjoy meals and coffees.

Gio's offers a great deli counter, friendly staff and good coffee. Their 'choose your own toppings' sandwiches are particularly legendary.

Ice Dream is an Italian Ice Cream shop in Hout Bay. I have been visiting this place since I was about 5 years old and I still love it. It is one of the first things I do after returning from an overseas trip. Look out for the chocolate, coffee, vanilla, pistachio, poppy seed, lemon and choc.mint flavours. To make it extra special, grab your ice cream and then drive about 5 minutes up the road to one of the Chapman's Peak lookout points. Great ice cream with a great view of the Sentinel Mountain and Hout Bay Harbour. This is a great way to end a day at Llandudno Beach NOTE: Ice Dream is closed on a Monday and closes every year through the winter months. contact them at 021 790 2496

Okay, there are some good burgers in Cape Town. But this is the best. You can also tell a great burger joint by their shakes, and these won't disappoint. (check out the sweet potato fries as well)
