Abbotsbury Swannery is the only managed colony of nesting swans. We are not talking small numbers. The path through the swannery takes you within a few feet of hundreds, if not thousands of swans. During the spring nesting seasons you will see the parents taking care of their cygnets right by the path. There are daily feeding times when visitors can get involved.

This 14th century chapel was built on a hilltop by the monks at Abbotsbury Abbey. The abbey itself is now a ruin. The chapels location gives it stunning views over the length of Chesil beach. The interior has earth floors and no seat. The local parish has the occasional service held here.

Dorset Forest Garden is right up on Beaminster Down surrounded in fabulous walking. The vistas from the walks are wonderful. The Hardy's Way footpath goes right from our gate and joins up many of the villages in his historic novels.
