Sightseeing

Turn left out of house and up the bridle way. Walk through the woods. At the top, turn right onto Crichel Mount Road. Walk down and you will come to Evening Hill. A lovely place to have a picnic over-looking the bay at sunset. We have left in the shed a fold up table and chairs for this.

Local beaches

If walking (15 mins walk), use the bridle way (left outside our house). The bridle way takes you to Crichel Mount Road – you can then walk via Evening Hill down shore road to the beach. If driving (less than 5 mins) park anywhere along the shore front and walk along or park at the 2 car park: (i) next to jazz café or (ii) in the big car park next to Rick Steins.

Sandbanks Beach - Harbourside. I love this beach – it’s not as big as Sandbanks beach but the water is shallow and warmer and lovely for a paddle board and windsurf.

Traveler advice

Getting around

Bus route 50 and Bus route 60

Bus 60: This bus takes you to the following places and the bus stops are at the end of the bridle ay for both directions. As you can see this bus takes you to Poole where you can get ferries to the Channel Islands or to Brownsea Island. Rockley Park has a small beach with water sports. The other direction takes you to Compton Acres to walk around or to Sandbanks Ferry where you can then get on bus 50 to take you over to Studland and Swanage.
Getting around

Boat trips

Look at www.pooletourism.com for ideas. Poole Harbour has a lot of trips. You can catch a boat to Brownsea Island from here. From Sandbanks there is a ferry every half hour and takes 10 minutes.
