Within easy reach of Portesham, the walk here is charming. Situated in the nearby village of Abbotsbury it's about 3/4 hr walk from the cottage, or go to the village and it's a fairly easy climb to the chapel. There is a longer hike around the area which beautiful.

A beautiful wander around these gardens is good for the soul. In summer the flowers and sculptures lift the spirits and in autumn and winter the lights are gorgeous. There is a cafe too

'The world's only colony of nesting mute swans' Apparently there is no other place in the world where you can walk through a colony of nesting swans. The young cynets are a sight to behold.

A bustling and picturesque harbour with many eateries along the quay. The town bridge is fun to watch as it raises and lowers to let yachts and other vessels in and out of the harbour.

A visit to the Isle of Portland, and the lighthouse is well worth a look. On a blustery day the sea lashes the coast and you can enjoy the waves from the safety of a warm cafe close to the lighthouse.

A drive of about 45 minutes takes you along the stunning Jurassic coast to the pretty town of Bridport. With a deliciously bustling artisan feel the town itself is full of cafes and interesting shops. Nearby West bay is a must for Broadchurch fans. Spot the tv locations. The drive back along the coast is a joy with a few places to stop and breathe in the scenery.

Just past Lyme Regis is this charming fishing village set on the Devon coast. With some good eating places right on the beach and further into the village. There are fascinating quarry caves to visit not far from the village. Beer has an interesting history and is very pretty too. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful views, interesting historically and architecturally, a very pretty town. It does get very busy but it's still worth a visit.
