The Reserve's entrance gate is 500m from the Goose and is home to both endangered Cape Fynbos and a historical site. An easy walkway takes you through the reserve in half an hour with picnic and resting spots along the route. It's open daily from 07:30 to 16:00 and entry is free.

The Mooiplaas hiking trail runs through the Mooiplaas Private Nature Resreve, starting at the homestead and snaking up the slopes to the top for breathtaking views of the Cape Winelands.
