Do the wonderful hike out to Jeremy Point (and time it so you arrive there at low tide). Free Parking. Great non-beach-day activity - just bring water and sunscreen. Our kids usually started to whine to turn around about a 1/2 hour into it - keep going. They still refer (fondly) to that hike as the Death March.

We go here for the soft serve ice cream - it's good but we mainly go because its one of the few places that is still around from my youth (it opened in 1971). As kids we always went to what is now Mac's on the Pier - back in the day it was called the Tastee Freeze and had a giant strawberry sundae on the roof.

There are many Mac's markets nearby, but I like this one in Eastham to buy seafood - super fresh, less crowded than the one in Wellfleet, and close by. If traffic on Route 6 is too crazy, I go to Mac's on the pier or Hatches behind the town hall.

Drinks & Nightlife

I like to hang out with the fireflies at home but our kids like a visit to the Beachcomber - if they can get in and the cover isn't too high. Casual drinks with a view of the ocean, and live music most nights.

The Bomb Shelter is a local bar around back and under the Bookstore Restaurant. When the Beachcomber's too nuts, drop in to watch a Sox game, or play pool and foosball.
