  • Staying at Sophie and Nick’s was the perfect weekend escape from London. Nick was extremely welcoming and friendly when we arrived and gave us lots of ideas about what we could do in the local area. It was also a treat to have a swim in their pool! Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy, quiet place to stay!

  • Had a lovely two night stay. Was a great opportunity for some peace and quiet and change of pace from London. Received a lovely tray of snacks and breakfast bits on arrival. Sophie’s husband Nick was great at assisting with any queries we had regarding the heating (the previous guests had turned off the radiators) and using the pool. He was also kind enough to lend us some wellies for a muddy walk around the lake. Comfortable bed, plenty of pans in the kitchen, a dishwasher too, everything nice and clean. A booklet was provided also, with tips on local pubs and things to see. Would definitely stay again, only 90mins drive from London / 20mins from Reading, but nice to get some fresh air in the countryside.

  • This was a lovely Airbnb, exactly as described and with very attentive and friendly hosts. The annex is such a cosy space and was ideal for our trip. Access to the pool was such a great extra and we enjoyed exploring the local area. Local amenities are very close and easy such as the public house and the train station with great links to Reading and London. The welcome basket was a great touch also. Thank you to our hosts for a lovely stay. Highly recommend.

  • Highly recommend staying here! If you're looking for a little getaway in a cabin that makes you feel you're away from the world then this is the place for you! Elsa is a lovely host, she replies so quickly and will look after you as much as you need or like with us she greeted us and then left us to have a private stay. The hot tub was so great and we didn't miss having a TV at all! The BBQ is there but we didn't use it as the microwave, toaster and kettle were enough for us all weekend and the river and pubs are a walk away! There are so many nice outdoor seating areas around or you can cosy up in the really big bed! The whole place was very clean and had some nice towels and beding to use and even though the bathroom is tiny it's just what you need! Elsa even left us some milk and had tea and coffee available and some little sweets if you felt like a tiny something. Would love to come and stay again it was great!

    Maddie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely and cosy cabin in a gorgeous garden. Has everything you could possibly need. We were made very welcome by Elsa who even collected us from the station on our first night. Thanks again Elsa!

  • A wonderful weekend retreat! Peaceful, private, very spacious outdoor space ... most of all loved the proximity to river, the hot tub and the boma area. We did two walks along the river into Pangbourne where you can find pubs and Costa coffee. Spotted a glimpse of a little buck that had wondered into the back garden - another highlight! Elsa was friendly and gave us a good introduction to the space before leaving us to relax and enjoy. We definitely hope to be back again!

  • The space is thoughtful, stylish. The bed is made for comfort. The place is very clean and spacious with everything you need from shower gel to the added touch of breakfast in the morning, the bread is outstanding, they leave you bacon and eggs as well. Which I assume is local produce, which is another nice tough. Parking isn’t an issue and the location is quiet and out of the way. The host is lovely, and very attentive if needed! Cannot fault it. Thank you for an amazing stay!

This stunning lakeside property is an idyllic off-grid peaceful location. The boathouse sits in the estate of Sheeprdove Organic Farm in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Lambourn downs. Newly renovated, the space provides simple comfort and a cosy interior complete with organic linens, towels and toiletries. A small functional kitchenette leads to an open plan living space with hexagonal frontage with bifold doors, maximizing the beautiful views.

The functional kitchenette provides a very small mini fridge (holding two bottles), a mini dualit oven and two ring hob. It is complete with a dining table and 4 chairs and a sofa which can be used as a bed for additional guests, however the only bathroom is the ensuite through the main bedroom. You're phone won't ring and your emails won't ping as there is no WiFi or phone signal. You can enjoy an escape from the digital world. We have plenty of free parking but due to the remote location the accommodation is a 10-15 minute walk from the car park. When packing for your escape think minimal and pack just the bare essentials. We can help you with your bags down to the Boathouse in our trolley/glorified wheelbarrow, but please think hand baggage size to ensure it will fit.

  • The boathouse is such an amazing place, perfect if you’re after some relaxing time in nature. We even spotted some wildlife: an owl, pheasants, rabbits, etc. The kitchen is well equipped to cook during your stay, with coffee and tea provided as well as salt and pepper :) I hope we get a chance to come back in summer to experience this little piece of heaven in a different season!

    Pauline2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place for anyone wanting to get away from the outside world or just to relax and wake up to lovely scenery and a lake. Enjoyed my time here with my partner and she loved it too. Host was very helpful and made things very easy for us. Lovely walks around the boathouse and I came from London so I appreciated the fresh country air !

    Ziad2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Boathouse is a peaceful place to switch off and relax. Lovely view and comfortable set up inside. The host gave great instructions that made check-in easy.

    Chris2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sam couldnt do enough for us. I used the boathouse to propose to my fiancee and Sam above and beyond to ensure everything was okay, even allowing me access a few weeks before to help get a feel of the place before i arrived. Its great place to get away from everything snf the Pheasant Inn was great for food and a nice drink by the fire which js about 15min drive away. Thanks for everything Sam!

    Jamie2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was so great the first time, that I came back another and it was just as great in the autumn as the summer experience! Self check in process was great and it is a beautiful place to get off the grid and enjoy such stunning surroundings. Hosts are very flexible and accommodating. Can’t recommend enough!

    Lindsay2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I have just spent one night at the Boathouse. All I can say is ‘Wow!’ What an amazing location. Totally secluded! Apart from the cute wildlife and eachother, we didn’t see a living soul for a whole 24 hours. Waking up to the sun beaming into the lounge across the lake is just perfect!! There is all you need inside the accommodation for a comfortable stay. I was aware that there was a very small fridge within and so I took with me an electric coolbox which served us well for the duration. There is a small table top oven and two electric hobs which were sufficient to cook a salmon, potato and salad meal for two. All in all a perfect place to stay. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back again but for longer.

    Lisa2019-09-08T00:00:00Z

I can not fault her! Fantastic location, with only a ten min walk to the top of Whitchurch where you can really have a good ramble through the Chilterns. Fantastic place, and will be returning one day. 😊

  • We can't wait to stay with Antonia again! The room was lovely, with en suite, the location was great for travelling to London by train and Antonia was so welcoming and friendly and full of local knowledge. My son and I had a fabulous trip to Pangbourne and are hoping to go back soon.

    Samantha2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Antonia was a faultless host! The room is private, clean with private shower and bathroom and the bed was super comfy! Antonia greeted me with her lovely cat, as a lone traveller she made me very welcome with a much needed cup of tea! We had a lovely chat and she provided everything I needed. Thankyou very much and i could not recommend her more!

  • Antonia was great host and absolutely helpful to us.

  • Antonia it’s super nice, the place it’s very cozy and the Village have everything you need to eat drink and enjoy a couple of days in the countryside! I would recommend to visit it especially in autumn

    Francesco2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Antonia's home was lovely! We stayed for the festival, which was perfect for us - train station is just around the corner, there's a Co-Op at the top of the road and the locals are all friendly. Would definitely stay again.

One of the top 30 quirky places to stay in the UK chosen by 'MuddyStilletos' travel guide. Sleeping two, the hut is perfect for couples, friends or solo travellers. It is close to beautiful walks, local pubs, farm shops and historic towns ... or simply a place to unwind, read a good book and get back to nature.
Beautiful bespoke Shepherds hut built on the chassis of an original hut found in a nearby copse. Located in the hamlet of Beedon Common, an area of outstanding natural Beauty just a few miles away from Chieveley and j13 of the m4. Surrounded by fields there is access directly onto byways and footpaths so perfect for anyone keen on walking or cycling. The nearby villages of Peasemore, Beedon and Chieveley are within walking distance and have super pubs for a drink or bite to eat. There are plenty of activities within a short drive from national trust properties to canal boat rides to quirky tea shops or historic market towns- more information in the welcome pack once you have booked. The hut itself is in a paddock separate from our garden which also houses a large lilly pond and a few chickens so lovely fresh eggs for breakfast. Beautiful views face across the fields to the west and across the pond to the east. We do have dogs ourselves and welcome your furry friends provided they can be trusted with other dogs and chickens. The Shepherd's hut bed can pull out to make a double or folded away to make a single. The hut is warm and cosy thanks to proper insulation, a discreet heater and a traditional log burning stove -plenty of wood provided. There is a DAB radio for your use as well as a supply of traditional games and a book swap. There is currently no bathroom in the paddock but a modern, shower room and toilet is set aside for guest use in the barn next to the main house (literally 10 seconds walk through the garden). For cooking there is a baby belling stove (hob, grill and oven) inside the hut with cutlery, cooking utensils and tea making facilities. There is a small fridge in the shelter next to the hut. For breakfast fresh eggs, bread, milk, juice, tea, fresh coffee and condiments will be provided. There is electricity inside the hut and cold running water is available outside. There is a hammock, picnic bench and a beautiful oak framed shelter with outdoor wood burner for keeping warm and cosy when sun goes down over the best views in Berkshire.
The area is absolutely beautiful with friendly local pubs within walking distance. Slightly further within short driving distance there are some wonderful places to visit from local farm shops, historic castles, canals, quaint community cafes, the living Rainforest', the Ridgeway for beautiful walks and many many more... Oxford is a 30 minute journey and the market towns of Newbury and Wantage are 10-15 minutes away. The nearest shop is in Chieveley villiage.
  • Great little place to stay to get away from the busy urban life. Having chicken eggs straight from the garden for breakfast was lovely, and learnt how to make and start a log burner. Helen and Sally are great hosts, and helped with any issues/questions

    Greg2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed ourselves and was so well taken care of by Helen and her family! We received a warm welcome even though we were delayed over 1 hour. The Shepard's Hut is lovely and the details inside beautiful. Great and personal breakfast and a very comfortable bed! The log burner inside was both cozy and kept us warm. We really recomend this place if you want to escape to the country side.

  • What a wonderful wonderful stay! We can’t rate it enough! Highly recommend! We can’t wait to return and make some more beautiful memories! The homely little touches were beautiful and we fell in love with everything about the hut and location! Thank you so much!

    Kate2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot with lovely and welcoming hosts. Every little thing thought of and a beautiful space. Special thanks to Sally and a Pete for their amazing hospitality!

    Elliot2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted and hosted by Helens mum Sally - thank you for being so wonderful! You guys have really thought of everything. Amazing location and lots of extra touches that really made our stay special, from the outside log burner to yummy eggs from your chickens! We’d definitely love to come back and do more exploring in the future! Thank you!

    Gemma2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little Sheppard’s hut, perfect for a countryside get away! Everything you need plus some lovely extra touches. Great way to see in the new year.

    Joshua2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Sally was so very kind and welcoming. The hut and amenities were fab. And lots of lovely dog walks.

    Helen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The smallest but by far the greatest AirBnB we have ever stayed in! The shepherds hut has everything you need, fresh eggs from the chickens, other assorted breakfast bits, tea/coffee/milk/cereasl, comfy bed, radio, beautiful walks and villages surroudning. There is a little heater, we stayed in November, and were not once cold! The outside covered area is perfect for lighting the fire and sitting around in the evening :) but the hosts made our trip extra special. Kind, welcoming & so happy to give us tips on where to walk/eat etc. Thankyou for an incredible weekend, we will be back :)

Dairy Cottage is a traditional English cottage in the Hampshire countryside. It is tucked away in the grounds of a country house - and is very private with its own large garden. It's a lovely cosy place for a for a couple - but also works well for families, with a double & single bedroom and also a sofa bed in the sitting room. With easy access to both the M3 and M4 and just over an hour from London, it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway or as a base to explore the local area.
Walking into Dairy Cottage through the porch, you will come straight into a hall/dining room with a table and chairs and working fireplace. We'll leave you a basket of logs and matches to get you going. Next to the dining room is a well equipped kitchen. Tea, instant coffee, sugar, salt & pepper and olive oil are all provided. There's a stove top coffee maker and a Nespresso machine (though we ask you to bring your own capsules). Fairy Liquid and other cleaning products are all there for you to use. The cosy sitting room has lots of books, a TV and, if this is your thing, a piano! There's a good sized double bedroom with an extremely comfortable double bed and a second bedroom with a single bed. There's also a sofa bed in the sitting room which is great for a child or unfussy adult! We can provide a sleeping bag for the sofa bed - just let us know. The bathroom has a bath with a hand held shower attachment, a loo and a basin - with towels, hand soap, body wash, shampoo & conditioner and loo roll all provided. There's lots of storage in the bedrooms and also in the bathroom. Outside is a large private garden with mature trees and lovely views over the neighbouring fields. There's a garden bench and table and there are picnic rugs and a couple more chairs in stored the house. The fire pit is a great option for chillier evenings. Please note that at the moment there is no wifi and mobile reception is patchy.
Despite having easy access to both the M3 and M4 , this is a peaceful, quintessentially English place. You may decide just to hang out at the cottage - but if not, there's lots to do in this part of Hampshire: There's amazing walking around Watership Down - an area of outstanding beauty; plenty of historic interest with Highclere (aka Downton Abbey), The Vyne National Trust house and park, Winchester & Jane Austen's birthplace at Steventon all near by; Newbury Racecourse is 20 minutes away & Sandford Springs golf course is just down the road. For a change of scene on a rainy day, the Bombay Sapphire Distillery is near by - as is Whitchurch silk mill. Pretty local towns (Kingsclere and Overton) have great pubs and cafes as well as useful local shops and facilities.
  • Lovely place - would recommend

    Gemma2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We love Diary cottage and Lucy is always so quick to respond. The cottage is homely and very comfortable - we always get a good night sleep. It has become our base when visiting my daughter's new school and having somewhere as lovely as this helps after a long journey. Thanks so much Lucy for allowing us to stay.

Dave and Sarah kept in touch offering assistance if needed and gave some great insight into amenities in the local area. A budget stay, comfortable and clean, in a bright sunny room. The location is quiet, out of town, near bus stop. On the doorstep are the Kennet Meadows and River Kennet and Canal. Local shops are a ten minute walk away. Space for cycle parking available. On street parking for cars. I have previously had male guests stay, however only hosts females now.
This is a sunny south facing house, with a small garden you are welcome to use, it isn't overlooked. I am due to upgrade the decor especially in the kitchen and bathroom, but everything works.
The area is on the edge of the Kennet Meadows which leads to the River Kennet and Southcote Mill. We are a few minutes cycle ride from Cycle Route NCN 4, which goes to Theale, Newbury and beyond and to Reading Town Centre and Green Park and on to London in the other direction.
  • Excellent place and friendly person. Good location and have a small store to buy food, for example so close ( 5 min walking). The bus stop is very close too. Anyway, the best place in my travel.

  • I stayed at Sam’s place for 10 nights and I liked everything. Sam is a good host. The room was not very big, but I had everything I needed. There are local shops nearby and about 3 min drive a big Asda. I recommend her place and definitely come back.

    Amelia2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great calm neighborhood. Comfortable place. Very pleasant 2 month stay. About a 25 min walk to closest supermarket, but other than that, the bus stop is close and only about 15 min to city center and train station. Sam is a wonderful host. Very hospitable, and does everything she can to make sure you are comfortable. I have no complaints. I had everything I needed. I recommend.

Quirky cabin in secluded location with private deck to sit and watch the fish swim by. Comfortably appointed with en suite shower room and underfloor heating. Within easy walking distance of the centre of the unique rural market town of Hungerford. A hidden gem.
This hexagonal cabin is situated at the end of our garden in a secluded and peaceful location. The cabin comprises a 25 square metre bedroom with vaulted ceiling and en suite shower room. The space is comfortably appointed with King size bed, sofa, easy chairs, underfloor heating, tv, coffee machine and free wifi. Outside there is a private deck overlooking the river where you can sit and look out for kingfishers.
Hungerford is a small and friendly market town with plenty of interesting history for those so inclined. It benefits from lovely walks and its open common land is home to lots of interesting wildlife, fauna and flora. Take time to visit the myriad of antique shops and to try the fare at many of the excellent eateries in town. For those who like to burn a little more energy, there are many excellent on and off road cycle routes to try - just ask us and we can recommend something to fit the bill. We also have good access to two renowned long distance footpaths, the Ridgeway 10 miles to the north and the Wayfarer's Walk, 5 miles to the south.
  • Can’t recommend this place enough. Felt welcomed straight from the off, very thoughtful and kind hosts. The space was just right for me and the bed was super comfy. Recommend walking along the canal to Bedwyn was a stunning walk, was proper chilled all weekend

  • Hilary and Richard are the most amazing friendly hosts, made us feel very welcome and relaxed, the little barn by the river is stunning, the bed is so comfortable and everything is beautifully clean, with lovely little extras, tea, coffee, fruit biscuits etc really nice touches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend we hope to go back in the spring. Thank you both for a perfect little getaway. Denise and Alex

    Denise2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary was the most wonderful host, such a beautiful place and spot. Coffee machine great touch and beautiful linen. Riverside deck and chimnea so perfect in the evenings. Had the best stay. Highly recommend and hungerford is so lovely to explore. We were left to our own devices but Hilary made us very aware that she was available anytime for anything. Felt truly at home.

    Deborah2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious and warm cabin just a short walk from Hungerford high street. Hilary and Richard were very helpful in recommending walking routes and also places to eat. Great country get away weekend!

    Lewis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hillary and Richard are absolutely brilliant hosts. The thing we liked was that they are happy to chat if you’d like or give you space and privacy if you need. The Barn sits at the end of their garden and is far enough away from their house that you have your own little world and don’t feel on their turf (or them on yours). There’s a little balcony that overlooks a river, an en-suite shower and toilet, and a fridge, sofa and desk, and most importantly a Nespresso machine which went down really well. The Barn is really well insulated and we were toasty warm even in winter. Hillary and Richard are warm and welcoming, inviting you into their home for breakfast as if you were an old friend, but are happy to bring food to you at the barn (or leave you to your own devices) if you’d rather. They were very generous, going above and beyond, even giving us a lift at one point. We had a lovely time, the location was perfect for Hungerford, and we’d make a trip back in a heartbeat.

There is fast unlimited internet in the cottage and a separate Netflix account for guests use.
The Barn Cottage is fully self contained with it's own entrance. The cottage has very comfortable living accommodation with working kitchen and lounge area; double bedroom with plenty of storage and bathroom with bath and shower.
Kintbury is a pretty and friendly village in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is an ideal location for exploring Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. There are plenty of fishing opportunities an easy walk away on the Kennet & Avon. Newbury racecourse is 20 minutes away by car and 15 minutes by train.
  • Perfect place to stay, one night just wasn't enough to enjoy the space. And really comfy bed! :)

    Louise2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, comfortable, clean and exactly what we needed. Brilliant suggestions from Jonathan regarding local places to eat and drink, Kintbury is beautiful! Thank you, I would 100% recommend.

    Jess2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a business visit, and it was always dark when I came and went, so I can't really comment on Kintbury itself, except to say it took me back to my 70s childhood at the other end of Berkshire. In a good way! The accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped, and in my case a good location for a short daily commute to Newbury. Jonathan communicated well throughout, but perhaps I would have been well advised to actually read what he said rather than blundering around in the dark looking for the entrance! Recommended.

The room is light, airy and well maintained. We prefer to let rooms to professional males working away from home. The house is quiet and set in lovely surroundings. We supply a continental breakfast on request. We are situated approx 3 miles from Reading and 5 miles from Henley on Thames. There is private parking for a car, sorry no vans. There is a regular bus service to Reading. Local shops are close by.
The property is situated on the edge of Sonning Common Village....The room overlooks a large rear garden and countryside beyond...
Lovely quiet neighbourhood, good choice of local shops. The house is situated only a few minutes walk away from the surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers. Henley is a 12 minute drive, for shopping, riverside and walking.

  • Sue's house was just lovely. The room was perfect, nicely decorated, with a very comfy bed and a bathroom right next door. Great garden view out of the window too, with a visiting pheasant every morning! There were tasty things set up for breakfast each day and I also really appreciated having a fridge, microwave and tea and coffee facilities in the room. Sue was a perfect hostess, very welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this room and would welcome the opportunity to stay again.

  • We had a very good stay at Sarah's Annex. It's a lovely private place, just perfect for two people. Sarah was very thoughtful, confirming our arrival time to make sure we could get into the place without trouble. And it was nice that she checked periodically during our week's stay to see if we were ok. The place itself was very clean and bright, warm and cosy. And it was good that she'd left us cereal and hot drinks we could make ourselves. We had a very pleasant stay. Thank you Sarah.

  • This is one of the best airbnbs I’ve stayed in. Lovely interior, great lighting, lots of plug points, everything spotless, good heating, generous with breakfast items, superb furnishings and amenities, big TV, easy parking. It also has my all-time favourite airbnb bedroom. Russ and Brenda were v welcoming to my dog and me. Top experience all round.

    Louise2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • My favourite air BnB so far! The cottage is modern and stylish. Has lovely touches such as bread and cereal for you to use. Completely private. Russ is absolutely wonderful. Stood watching pheasants play play in the grasslands. We wanted a Indian takeaway and Russ suggested The Gun - it was delicious and only a 5 min drive to collect.

    Lucy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great two night stay at The Lodge. It was sparklingly clean, and a really comfortable place to stay. Its location in the countryside was perfect and just what we needed, away from the humdrum of our busy lives. Russ was a great host, and went out of his way to make us and Barney the dog feel welcome, thank you.

Takamaka House is nestled down a leafy private road that offers seclusion but is very close to Town Centre and the M4 / A34. Down a Private road nestled in-between countryside and Newbury's Town Centre. A 3 minute drive to town and approximately a 12 minute walk would get you in to town and about 30 minutes walk to the main train station. The house is also very close to the Hare and Hounds pub with an award winning restaurant. The house also has off-road parking.
The owners are welcoming but enjoy giving their guests space. Due to the lifestyle they lead, we welcome guests at 6pm earliest and leave by 8am in the morning. The house will accept guests Sunday evening to Thursday Morning and cannot offer use of the kitchen. There will be access to a kettle, microwave and cutlery/dishes and guests will have their own space in which to eat and drink. Takamaka house does not allow guests to eat in their rooms and has a no shoes policy in the home :)
Close to Town Centre and Supermarkets for all of your amenities. The house is also very close to Vodafone HQ. Our location is also situated near a number of nice pubs, walks and cycle routes for our guests to enjoy. A trip in to Reading would take approximately 30 minutes drive and you can get in to London Paddington via Newbury in 45 minutes via a direct train. Guests are welcome to bring their Bicycles and can be locked away in a secure garage.

Court Hill Annexe is attached to a house where Francis Bacon (the artist) used to live. It is a self contained space with sitting room, kitchen, shower room and bedroom. Access is through the front door of the main house but otherwise the annexe is completely self contained. Chieveley is a pretty village in Berkshire with excellent access to Newbury, Reading, Oxford, Swindon or Winchester. Court Hill is set amongst fields ideal for walking.
There is a laundry room which is shared. There is also ample parking
Chieveley has a shop, a pub and a church.

    Vicky2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a stay in the country but with modern facilities to feel at home, you will find it all here with Katy. An excellent location for both work and exploring. A lovely local pub in walking distance. You even have your own front door.

    Vicky2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very stylish space within the Host’s own home. The space is a self contained area accessed just inside the main front door. To reach the house you have to travel down a narrow private road and then a dirt track (which can be bumpy in places) but it is well worth the effort. The living area is spacious, and there is a full kitchen area included and comes supplied with all the associated crockery and utensils / cookware you will need. The host met me in person, and gave very good directions in advance (which are needed to avoid getting lost especially if you arrive after dark) The house is close to the M4 motorway but I didn’t find the traffic noise at all intrusive. The place has a very stylish appearance and everything feels very high quality - WiFi is provided but I didn’t need it as there was an excellent signal for both Virgin and O2 networks. The shower room is fabulous and bedroom area is spacious and has a very comfortable double bed. I highly recommend this place and hope to return in the future.

  • I can't say enough wonderful things about Donna Ida's "Little House". The style and charm of this listing caught my eye immediately and had me booking farther from the Heathrow area than I had originally planned - And not for one moment did that decision disappoint. I'm sure it's a bit more convenient to come with a car but I traveled to Pangbourne Station by train. Donna kindly offered to pick me up. She was a warm and generous host from start to finish (her husband and their three chihuahuas too!). The Little House is decorated stunningly. You feel like you're walking into the set of a photoshoot...and then you realize that you get to stay there! The space is comfortable and easy to use. It is well stocked with anything you might need. The bed is absolutely dreamy. The mattress incredibly comfortable and the linens soft and plentiful. Flying in from Jamaica leading up to some work in the UK, this was the perfect place for me to sleep away some of my jet lag and adjust to the timezone. Donna loaned me her membership card for Basildon Park, which is just a short walk down the street. I enjoyed exploring the property and seeing the holiday decorations inside the historic home. The farm shop there is also not to be missed. Another recommendation of the hosts was to check out the recently opened Coppa Club on the Thames in Streatley. It was beautiful place for dinner, and not far from The Little House. I wish I could have stayed in Lower Basildon even longer. I will most definitely return to The Little House the next time I find myself in this part of England. If you have an opportunity to book this place, don't miss it!

    Sky2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning space thoughtfully decorated. Lots of lovely additional extra touches which made the stay more special. The view from their back garden is beautiful and gives a nice peaceful feel to enjoy your morning coffee! Would definitely book again if in the area.

  • Donna is a star. It was such a great experience staying at Donna’s amazing place. Along side with these beautiful countryside landscapes, absolutely a pure joy to drive by. Massive parking space. It felt so private and quiet, yet still got someone out there whenever you need. The bed is heaven! And there’s a cute little stone squirrel bench in the garden, with yellow leaves falling, and grey squirrels running around...there’s just so much to be appreciated. Thanks to Donna and her husband who made these happen.

    Jing2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • A totally fabulous place to stay! The Little House is so beautiful, wonderfully styled and very relaxing. The views and relaxing setting are just amazing. Thank you Donna and Bob xx The small details make all the difference, I highly recommend a stay.

One double bedroom, one upstairs sleeping-snug which is up steep, ladder style steps (pictured) and one double sofa bed in the living area. One guest described the property as “like a caravan, but cuter” and we think this sums it up!
The property is situated in the garden of a long road of Victorian houses. There is a leisure centre and beautiful parklands very close by. If you are a walker there are a number of medium to long walks which take you along the canal and through the moors. The town centre is a stroll along the towpath and has everything you need.
  • Great little place! Location was amazing and we loved the cool tiny house feel. Cheers bob, will recommend you to everyone!

  • A great find and Bob was a delight!

    Connie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely faultless. What an incredible find, Bob was the perfect host - fantastic fast communication, information sent on the day to make sure we know where to park / how to get to the tiny cottage. It was immaculate, lovely and warm comfy beds tv / dvd's supplied milk coffee and tea were a thoughtful touch. It's very private with a beautiful less than 10 minute walk to town down a good towpath. We really can't fault this host / accommodation and can't wait to return. Thank you.

    Samantha2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bob’s place is great. We were a party of four and it was a tight squeeze so if you are six people be aware it’s difficult to move around with that many people. Only really a problem in the winter as great outside space for summer.

    Tom2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a cute place to stay. I’d go back, just to stay there again.

    Emily2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great convenient location. Cosy unique property. Prompt replies from the hosts. We liked the fact that you can get into the property without disturbing the hosts. Plus, they could sort out a parking space for us as well. We enjoyed our stay here. Definitely would recommend.

  • Nice location on the canal. Warm and cosy chalet but the stairs are not good if you have a young child

The lodge is set close to the edge of a nature reserve lake, close to Reading and London. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, Small families (there is only one bedroom so probably one child/baby), and well behaved furry friends (pets) as long as they remain on the floors and not on sofa's and beds. Super King size bed and SKY available. There is also a walk in wardrobe.
Light and cozy space with plenty of room. It has a clean and modern feel.
Reading is very close to London, Bath, The Cotswolds, Bristol, Cardiff, the coast. Its a great location if you want to explore some exciting places in the UK.
  • Lovely little cottage, perfect for a quiet getaway.

  • The Lodge is a great place to stay. Idea for a couple on a getaway holiday. Great facilities. Host was helpful and welcoming.

    Debbie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious, peaceful and very cozy. Just down the road from the Fox & Hounds-the most dog friendly pub in Britain. Sophie and Nick are truly super hosts.

  • We've stayed here a few times now so exactly as expected- always such a great spot and lovely hosts!

  • Wonderful stay, highly recommended. Sophie and Nick are extremely welcoming and the farm is beautiful. It's a short drive to all amenities. We really enjoyed our walks around the lake and we would love to stay there again.

  • Lovely little spot on a great setting, nice and private tucked away and very accommodating hosts. I used it for business but would be spot on for a weekend away as well

    Andrew2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy, nicely decorated lodge. Little touches like the bread, milk and eggs mean a lot. Clean throughout and a super comfy bed and powerful shower. Kitchen was stocked with what you need in terms of cutlery. Area is unbelievable, the garden backs onto the lake and makes for some stunning sunsets with the ducks and swans (and some deer!). Tennis court is a lot of fun if you're into that, and the swimming pool is also amazing. Heated too, so you won't be cold! This is a very dog friendly place, so if you're allergic or anything, this isn't for you. Cute dogs roaming the garden is real sweet, Basil is a right charmer. Would definitely return! Thanks guys!

  • Sophie’s place is great. She and her family are so sweet and more than accommodating. They made us feel right at home and even had a little welcome gift of some essentials sent to the house the first day. The grounds are green and gorgeous and right off the lake, perfect for walking. The area is quiet and peaceful. We’re so grateful for her hospitality and beautiful home!

  • Our first stay using AirB'n'b and a great start, beautiful property in a beautiful, scenic location. Very cosy and homely. Added an extra night on arival due to the stunning surrounding areas Morning walks in the area are stunning and the area is very quite, perfect romantic getaway. Just Bring slippers, the stone floors are cold! Petra (our host) was very accommodating and friendly, but not in anyway have any impact on our stay or privacy. We would happily stay again

  • We were made to feel very welcome and at ease staying at Hay Loft. Petra and her family have got this hosting lark down to a fine art. She was attentive but also left us to our own devices. Wish we'd made more of the comfortable surroundings. Hopefully there's a next time!

My place is very close to the town centre. It is located 10 min. walking distance from Train Station or 5 min. walking distance from Bus Station. There is a convenient bus connection to Vodafone. There is also huge Sainsbury's open until 11 pm and it is very close to Newbury Wharf. You may find many restaurants within 10 min. walk.
  • Lovely place located close to city center, industrial area and shopping center. Barbara is very welcoming and kind person, I can really recommend this place which feels like home.

Our cottage is in a great little hamlet in Berkshire and is the perfect location for walking and exploring the countryside and the towns of Newbury and Reading. The cottage itself is open plan and is very light and airy with a modern mediterranean feel to it. It has two lovely bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is perfect for a quiet getaway or a busy shopping spree!
Our cottage is a stand alone property and is not occupied at any time other than when you, our guests arrive.... The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, including a washing machine and dishwasher. Both beds are king size and have lovely egyptian cotton bed linen. The bathrooms have plenty of fluffy towels for you. There is a TV and we have wifi for your convenience. We have a large patio area within the garden, which is child and dog safe, as it is completely enclosed.
We have some fantastic walking paths in our part of the countryside, including one or two walks to some very nice pubs which serve delicious food.
  • Lovely little cottage in a nice location easily accessible from London. Good walks and running paths in the area. Tracey was very communicative and welcomed us on arrival. Nice breakfast bits provided too. The both beds are very comfortable! :).

  • Garden Cottage is tranquil and exceptional accommodation with easy access to the countryside of Berkshire and only a short journey (10mins) to mainline trains to London. The rooms are furnished to the very highest quality with a superb kitchen, luxurious bathrooms and beds that are so comfortable. Tracey and Philip are lovely hosts. I look forward to staying at Garden Cottage again in the near future.

  • Idyllic location, stylish and sparkling clean cottage. Super host and very helpful. Wonderful time spent, highly recommended for work or rest.

  • Absolutely beautiful setting, I had the most incredible peaceful stay. The cottage itself is finished to such a high standard, cleverly thought out space to make your stay so relaxing. loved the upstairs roll top bath, and downstairs powerful shower. The garden is fully enclosed, yet still leaving lovely views across meadows. I was lucky enough to have gorgeous sunshine in September, and enjoyed breakfasts on the lovely patio, and sat out in the evening. Good position for exploring, I visited lots of beautiful villages and National Trusts Basildon Park and The Vyne Estate. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

  • Lovely modern cottage situated in a beautiful village, with lots of walks and gastro-pubs nearby. Quiet location, conveniently situated relatively near Reading, Newbury and Oxford. Great value for a short break where you won't be disturbed.

  • We stayed here after getting married nearby at Ufton Court. Tracey bent over backwards to accommodate us with our awkward timings. The place was exactly what we were after, clean, modern with luxury amenities. Was nice to sit on the patio in the sun opening our wedding cards. We were just sorry we could not spend longer here!

    Iain2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place, fully recommend it!

  • This is a really beautiful place in a beautiful area. The Garden Cottage is much more than what we make of it in The Netherlands. It felt as a second home.

Situated just outside the village of Highclere and a few minutes drive from Highclere Castle. We are a 10 minute drive to the centre of Newbury and 15 minutes from the M4 (J13). The Annex enjoys rural outlooks over Highclere Estate to the front and Great Pen Wood to the rear. It is a first floor separate annex providing privacy during your stay. The newly decorated cosy bedroom has a sitting area, a separate modern bright bathroom and a kitchenette.
  • Myself and my cousin had a wonderful 2 night stay at Camilla’s annex. I had travelled from Ireland to go to the Highclere Castle Christmas Fair. Camilla had been in touch to give directions and she greeted us when we arrived. The annex is exactly as you see in the pictures. It’s so pretty and immaculately clean. The bed is the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! There are tea and coffee facilities and Camilla had supplied milk for us also. There’s also a toaster and microwave so everything you need. She gave us great recommendations for food, we fell in love with The Carnarvon Arms which is about a 3 minute drive from the annex and dessert in The Pheasant in Highclere is a must! It’s the ideal location if your visiting Highclere Castle as it is extremely close. It was extremely cold at the time we visited, -1 the morning we left, but we were very warm and cosy in the annex with the central heating running. I’m definitely going to return to this accommodation. It was perfect.
