Come unwind in our exclusive tree house getaway, nestled amongst pine trees. Take a short walk to enjoy the river.
This 400 sq. ft. treehouse includes a walnut spiral staircase, salvaged barn beams, a marble tile shower, and a gas fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a two-person bar, gas stove + oven, hammered copper sink, refrigerator, microwave, kettle + french press, and basic utensils. The loft bedroom includes a queen bed with elegant bedding, skylight views, and a hanging chair for reading. The bathroom includes a marble tile shower with hot water, a hammered copper sink, and fresh white towels. Enjoy lovely views from the porch with the sight of the river. Unwind with a hot bath in a two-person tub on the deck. Be aware the treehouse is in the trees so bugs will be present especially in the evening. We have complimentary natural bug spray and candles. It's best to leave the lights off on the porch at night so bugs won't join your porch party. The treehouse is located on our 5-acre property. It is NOT deep in secluded woodland. It is 70 ft. from the road and 200 ft. away from our home. It is 16 ft. off the ground so height is in your favor for seclusion. There are appropriate window treatments on all windows. You may be visited by our dogs or cat. Our two Jack Russell's, Daisy and Cooter, love to say hello to anyone who comes on the property. The gate at the top of the stairs is to keep our furry friends away. We prefer if you keep them off the deck so they won’t beg to be let in. However, Mable, the cat, is capable of climbing the gate. Let us know if we need to come to retrieve her. This treehouse was relocated due to waterway regulations. It is now farther from the river but on the same property. You will still have river views and river access.
  • This was a luxurious treehouse! It was very clean with the most amazing decor! We absolutely loved the outdoor tub! The river was clear, and we still had a sense of privacy. The owners were very transparent and detailed in their post. and I respect that! Don’t wait, just do it!!!! We can’t wait to come back in the summer!!!

  • Joshua and Hope have an amazing treehouse on their hands! The space was beautifully decorated and exactly as pictured. We greatly enjoyed our time here and are very thankful Joshua and Hope are willing to share such a special place!

  • The hosts were very friendly, communicative, and accommodating. The tree house was gorgeous, and had everything we needed to enjoy a weekend disconnecting from technology. We partook in the french press, and sat on the deck watching the river all morning. It was peaceful and perfect.

  • A stay at Joshua and Hope's tree house is a great getaway for nature lovers. There's rivers, mountains, and beautiful farmland plus a picturesque town nearby. I would love to visit again.

  • Great property with relaxing river seating. Wonderful personalized touches like homemade granola and bath salts for the hot tub. Very friendly and messaged us shortly after we arrived to make sure we did not have any questions. Such a romantic setting to unwind and turn off your devices (wifi was accessible). The view from the loft was amazing. Loved our stay and were sad to leave. There were also great farmers markets near by with good deals. The dogs on the property were incredibly sweet :) they greeted us when we arrived and to say a final farewell🐶

    Andie2020-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable and clean place. It has everything you could need in a small package. We enjoyed the hot tub, comfy bed, and fireplace the most. Would return!

  • This was the perfect weekend getaway! The treehouse is so well made and decorated so beautifully. The view of the lawn and river was so peaceful to wake up to. And the fireplace made our stay extra cozy. Everything about the little home is so dreamy. Joshua & Hope were exceptional hosts and we will definitely be coming back!

    Aina2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time! It’s always so peaceful staying at Joshua and Hope’s Tree House. They responded promptly to any questions I had, and the overall aesthetic of the treehouse and scenery is truly a beautiful experience.

  • I could type a whole essay on why this place is great but I’ll save you the time: - extremely affordable - host goes above and beyond - one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed in - great location Hallie is an amazing host, I felt extremely safe and right at home. The entire space would be ideal for any type of trip & I loved how she had cold water bottles in the fridge ready to go, amazing chocolate and a bottle of wine. This has been one of my personal *favorite* stays here in Lynchburg!

    Jenny2020-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • My second time staying at Hallie’s place and it was just as great as last time. No complaints- so clean, well decorated, thoughtful touches, great communication, the list goes on. Hallie and Phil are the best

Elevated 900 sq ft space with vaulted ceiling and 500 sq ft of wrap-around deck in the treetops. 3 bedrooms (2 Queens + full-size futon which is 6" narrower than a Queen and therefore a bit tight for 2 adults) and 2 full bathrooms. Adjacent to National Forest land and just 40 miles from the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah Nat'l Park and Skyline Drive. Our home is within the Bryce Resort - offering (in season) golf, mountain biking, zipline, and lake with beach, kayaks/canoes.
This is the “treehouse” of my childhood dreams, and I know you’ll enjoy it too. As you can see in our photos, the Treehouse has a wrap around deck which is 500 sq ft and offers peace and quiet. We have lots of tables and chairs on the deck for bird/critter watching, eating, playing cards, etc. Please note: Because the house sits at tree top level, we advise against young children as guests. The main room has a vaulted ceiling and a wall of windows that look out onto the deck and into the trees making the home feel like more than just 900 sq ft. We have three separate bedrooms and two baths. Two of the bedrooms have a queen bed. The third bedroom has a full-size (6" narrower than a Queen) futon and a TV and DVD player. The master bedroom has an attached bath. Linens and towels are provided. There is a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. There is WiFi. Due to the extremely hilly terrain, cell phone service is sketchy. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, pots and pans. Fridge, oven, microwave, coffee maker and crockpot are in very good shape. We have 2 driveways, one on each side of the house. Both are steep and narrow and require that you turn around at the top. Please do NOT attempt to back down. The first 40' of the steepest (and most convenient) drive is paved so it's entirely manageable with most any vehicle. If you utilize the other (totally unpaved) driveway, you need to drive up in a SLOW and STEADY manner to prevent spin-outs and tearing up the driveway. It is not feasible to accommodate a large RV, towable trailer, boat, or such at the treehouse. Parking more than 1 vehicle per driveway is nearly certain to require some vehicle jockeying. Please note a few house rules: - There is no grill and no grilling is allowed on the deck. - No smoking on the property. - The small loft is solely for storage and is not for guest use. - The fireplace is not for guest use. It is not in working condition. - No pets please.
Our home is located within the Bryce Resort community. The resort is NOT a gated community and is very much on the low-key end of the spectrum (as we prefer), so - while not "fancy" - it is very quiet and yet still has a very nice variety of activities. Visit the Bryce Resort website for information on golf, mountain biking, a zipline and more. There are specific days/hours of operation and reservations may be required for these activities; please check the Bryce website to see fees and schedule. Lake Laura has a 3 mile walking trail that is open to the public year-round for free (can also serve as an easy-to-moderate mountain bike trail). For a small fee during the summer, Lake Laura offers beach access and kayak/canoe/paddle boat rental (check Bryce Resort website for summer schedule). The "town" of Basye is really just the resort. There is a clubhouse restaurant/bar. Just outside the resort, there is a brewhouse/restaurant, ice cream stand, and a very small market and gas station. Mt. Jackson is 11 miles away and offers a full grocery and State liquor store. Woodstock is a 30-minute drive and has most everything including a Lowe's, Walmart, Cracker Barrel, etc.
  • Lovely location and perfect respite from the city. Very close to Big Schloss trail head, too!

    Lucian2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We enjoyed this little oasis so much. A truly unique place built with a soul.

    Denis2020-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse is an amazing place! We weren’t able to use any nearby restaurants, etc, because of COVID, but just spending the day Saturday, building a puzzle, was a wonderful time. The house is perfect, in a perfect location. A lot of hiking adventures surround you there! We definitely plan to return! The house has everything you need. . Plenty of extra towels! Mark was great at keeping us in the know of closings, etc. due to the pandemic.

  • Great spot in a beautiful part of the US!

    Nicholas2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just a great place overall from the fact that it’s a TREEHOUSE to all the personal touches and information to explore the surrounding areas. Even on the rainy days we had board games and movies to watch. Just a cozy place with everything you need and a great place to come back to after a long day of hiking!

    Kari2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at the treehouse was incredible! We loved relaxing for our 2 night stay and exploring the town around us. The guest book and the binder put together by Mark was amazing. I also loved that there were basic needs in the house like soap, shampoo, toilet paper, spices, etc. Loved the DVD collection that was available for us to binge watch Simpson’s at night while we relaxed inside since it was colder. The wild life was awesome around the treehouse too. The first driveway was paved halfway up and my 2019 Toyota Corolla was able to make it up with ease. We didn’t attempt the back driveway because the top was significantly more convenient for us with no steps. Mark was very communicative about the stay also. We already have our next trip booked! PS. Don’t hike Orkney spring trail off alum spring rd. We couldn’t pass through the main road to Marks recommended spot because of a downed tree and found this trail. It was a 35% grade and was super hard despite what all trails said. I’m still sore today. Lol! If you do decide to, only go to the view point. The super steep treck to the top brings you to the peek in the middle of the woods with no view. Wasn’t worth it.

    Amber2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Linda are great hosts! I had a great time at their tranquil treehouse. It is everything it is described as and more. I would highly recommend staying here!

    Mackenzie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a special and beautiful place this is, and at such a reasonable price! The location is gorgeous and the treehouse is both a great place to hang out and a wonderful base from which to explore the area. This is our second time---we'll be back! And Mark makes the process very easy and smooth.

Gum Tree Lodge, a newly built A-frame style cottage is located in the Madison-Barbour Rural Historic District on seventy acres of pastoral countryside. Nestled in woods the Lodge offers a unique retreat for couples and gathering place for friends.
The interior of Gum Tree Lodge is built almost entirely of recycled materials. Reclaimed and recycled wood flooring, beams, doors and siding make this A-frame a charming eco -friendly space. Gum Tree Lodge is approximately eighty yards behind the main house and our wood shop/art studio. There is a loft bedroom, and first floor bathroom with walk-in shower. In addition, there is a pull-out sleeping sofa and an outdoor shower next to the back porch.
Gum Tree Lodge is in close proximity to attractions such as Barboursville, Horton, and Early Mountain Vineyards and James Madison's Montpelier. Charlottesville and Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello is only a 30-40 minute scenic drive away. Within minutes is The Market at Grelen which consists of a garden center, nursery, gift shop, u-pick and cafe. Grelen and Montpelier have teamed together and created trails so you can walk from one place to the other. Also within minutes is Barboursville Gift Gallery which highlights local artists, craftsmen, and unique antiques. We are also directly across from Ingleside Guest House for overflow guests.
  • We spent a weekend here at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak and really appreciated the opportunity to still isolate ourselves and practice social distancing but in such an open, beautiful, and cozy place. The lodge is masterfully designed and equipped, and Margaret clearly an experienced and thoughtful host. We're really hoping to come back when things go back to normal and explore more of the surrounding area too!

    Ioana2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret’s place is perfect for a quiet weekend away. Great open space, amenities, and access to the outdoors. Highly recommend!

    Ryan2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • My two friends and I had an amazing girls trip for three nights in Margaret's amazing A-frame. Their attention to detail and generosity made our trip relaxing and restorative. It was very close to Shenandoah, and we could easily drive there and back for a day hike. This is the perfect place to go if you want to be close to Shenandoah or if you want to rest and recharge surrounded by nature. I'm an artist and I found a lot of inspiration from my short stay. Book this place!

    Sarah2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here and had an amazing time. The place was spotlessly clean and so cozy. Margaret was such a kind and easy to reach host! We really didn’t want to leave, by the end. From the relaxing walk in shower, to the little gas fire, to the amazing view of the woods, to the well appointed kitchen (with half a dozen eggs, butter, cream, coffee, and numerous other things ready to use if needed) and everything else about this place, it was such a peaceful and relaxing visit. We can’t wait to stay here again in the future 🥰 preferably in the summer so we can enjoy that amazing screened porch and outdoor shower! Definitely book a trip here!

    Emily2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Love love loved staying here. Such a. wonderful getaway spot. Margaret was great, she gave us some awesome recommendations of local spots to visit. Will be back very soon :)

  • The place is ideal for a weekend getaway! It was pretty clean and was entirely a cute setup. Cheers 🙂

  • Where do I even begin- once I arrived at the beautiful a-frame cabin I was instantly amazed with how beautiful it was from the outside. When you enter the cabin you can see all the hard work and small details Margaret and her husband have put into the Airbnb. Things like oils, fresh farm eggs, cream, coffees, and so much more were all waiting for us Incase we needed them. The farm has beautiful views of the Virginia mountains and luckily we were able to catch the sunset on the night we stayed. Margaret has been once of the best hosts I’ve experienced I definitely want to come back again in the future!

Experience glamping, Blue Ridge style. Our luxury yurt is located at the top of a small hill, in the center of a 70 acre farmstead surrounded by natural beauty. The property is located off a quiet country road in Afton, Nelson County. It is private, but not remote. You are close to the Brew Ridge trail, wineries, breweries, skiing at Wintergreen, Blue Mountain Brewery, Devil's Backbone, golf, hiking, or driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hike or bike directly from the Yurt up into the mountains!
PLEASE NOTE: There is a 3 night minimum for long weekends. Please leave those weekends available for the folks who want to come for 3 nights. Thanks! Glamping at it finest. Enjoy a relaxing stay in our Yurt in the heart of the Blue Ridge and feel the stress of daily life slip away. The Yurt is 30 feet in diameter with 10 foot walls. It's a total of 720 square feet with a cozy bedroom and a sleeping loft. It has heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a bathroom with a claw foot tub with shower, fresh linens and towels, and an open living/dining area with a wood stove. It boosts a large 400 square foot deck with lovely views of the pond and the Blue Ridge mountains. Take advantage of all that the surrounding area has to offer including hiking, skiing, antiques, farmer's market, restaurants, live music, and all the wineries, breweries, and cideries along the Brew Ridge Trail. Or just hang out at the fully equipped Yurt. Kick back with a glass of wine from one of the local wineries and watch the sunset, dine al fresco on the large deck, enjoy the stars from the hot tub tucked in a secluded grove of trees nearby, cozy up to a fire in the wood stove, enjoy a fire or roast marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit, watch a movie, listen to records, get up early and watch the sunrise over the mountains, hike directly from the Yurt to Humpback Rocks and the Appalachian Trail, or enjoy fishing, paddle boating, and swimming in the spring fed 2 acre pond.
The yurt is located on the same property as our farmhouse (about 300 yards away) on a quiet country road with less than 10 houses. The yurt is surrounded by open pasture and a few trees. You can see the Farmhouse from the Yurt but it's a good distance away. The trees provide privacy. You are about 2 miles from the Flying Fox Winery. It's a nice walk to a sweet little tasting room that has lovely views. Their rose is a personal favorite. Paulie's Pig Out about 2 miles away on 151. Yummy barbeque with tasty sides, especially the mac and cheese. Traeger Brother's Coffee located in the Rockfish Valley Community Center on 151. Local roasters based in Lovingston, VA. Fair trade organic coffee. Check out the Treasure Chest thrift store while you're there! Claudia's Catering also located in the community center. Homemade tasty baked goodies. Bold Rock Cidery, 7 miles away. A lovely setting to enjoy a glass of award winning cider. Or take it to go and enjoy it on the deck of the Yurt. Blue Toad Cidery is a few more miles up the road. Veritas Winery, my favorite winery in the area. Starry Nights live music and farm to table dinners in the summer. Trail Rides at Rebel's Run, Afton Mountain Road. Our daughter takes horseback riding lessons here. Mimi, the owner is awesome and her horses are beautiful and well tempered. Devil's Backbone Brewery and Restaurant is 7 miles away in Nellysford. Great apres-ski on Friday and Saturday evening in the ski season and beautiful grounds and outdoor seating. Cardinal Point winery is about 10 minutes away and has a nice tasting room and outdoor patio. Hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway is about 30 minutes away. There are some fantastic views and sunset spots that are only 2 miles from the trail head. In summer, hike to the slippery rocks in Stony Creek - only a 15 minute drive and 20 minute walk. Slip and slide on the natural water slide and splash into the tub. During the music festival season LOCK'N and the Festy are 30 minutes away in Arrington. We can arrange for a private yoga lesson or massages at the Yurt if you're interested. And so much more! We're working on a detailed book of what to do and see in the area that we'll leave in the yurt. In the meantime, we're happy to offer suggestions on what to do and see in the area.
  • Staying with Chantal was an absolute joy. We knew we were going to have a nice time but the yurt far and away exceeded our expectations. Each morning we sat out on the porch with our coffee (French press!) and listened to the birds accompany the vintage record player. Wine and cheese out on the deck post a 14 mile hike was a dream. The bed is so comfortable, kitchen incredibly well equipped, and all the amenities are true luxury. We know we will be coming back, and can’t wait until we finally do so!

    Eilish2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time at Chantal's place and it was as magical as the first time. The weather was perfect for reading on the deck, enjoying the private hot tub and we even took out the paddle boat on the pond close to sunset. One of the most rejuvenating and restorative weekends I have had a in a long time. Planning my next trip already!

We thank you for everything ! Look forwrd to our return . -J&J🧡

    Jessica2020-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a gem. The yurt is quaint, clean, and comfortable. The hospitality is top-notch. But the property is what really makes it special. It's like you get to have this charming little mountain valley with a creek, a lake, and meandering trails to yourself. So cool.

    Justin2020-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Chantal's yurt was beyond expectations. The pictures do not capture the breathtaking scenery. We enjoyed walking the grounds and looking at the stars at night. The kitchen was fully equipped much more than I had anticipated. There were lots of modern books to read, games for all ages, DVDs and records to play incase you have a rainy day in. Bed was super comfy and soft.

    Amy2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay in the yurt! It is in a beautiful and remote setting - you can hike on the AT, sit out on the deck, paddle boat, fish, hot tub, and build a fire, all without leaving the property. The yurt is beautifully appointed and comfortable with lots of little touches that make it extra special. Just book this place, you won't be disappointed!

    Alicia2020-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • This getaway is like no other. Chantal's yurt is always an incredibly relaxing time. The yurt is complimented wonderfully with a gorgeous pond, the calming sounds of a nearby stream and a secluded hot tub a short walk away. My wife and I cannot only recommend this AirBNB but also the host Chantal. Chantal tailor makes each arrival and trip to make it a one of a kind experience. No other trip like it. -David & Aimee

    David2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • WOW. This place exceeded our expectations! The yurt is so stylish and filled with thoughtful touches throughout. We had been looking forward to camping at Crabtree falls campground, but when the governor announced closure due to covid 19 we were so devastated, because we new we need to time away for our mental health during this rough time. We booked this place last second for my wife’s birthday and it was the best idea we made!! Glad the campground closed honestly haha! The views are spectacular, the hot tub was so relaxing and the paddle boats were fun to explore on!! There are many places to walk around and we ended up doing about a 7 mile hike up the Appalachian trail. Talk about mental health day! Nature is so good for our souls and we are truly grateful we found this little gem. I posted pictures on Facebook and had tons of people ask about it! We honestly didn’t want to leave and are already thinking about our next trip here. The only thing to note is the driveway leading up is extremely bumpy and my little Scion FR-S made it, but took a little beating on the rocks. I’m sure any other larger car would be fine. Chantall left a small birthday gift and champagne and answered all of our questions promptly! Thanks so much for a great time, we will be back.

  • I cannot recommend this Cabin at the Rive enough. It is a perfect place to disconnect from screens and the internet. Serene and peaceful, this cabin is everything you would expect from a shady hollow in the Shenandoah Valley and more.

  • Words can’t describe, just go

    Jason2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this place - I was able to unplug and enjoy the nature while staying in one of the best cabins I’ve ever seen (design, amenities and aesthetics)

    Daniyar2020-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to get away from the city and relax to the sound of rushing water. Cabin had everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable stay. Would definitely return.

    Will2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin on the river was even better than we were expecting, and we were expecting great things from all the wonderful reviews and pictures. Super private location, awesome features and amenities all over the cabin: you won’t miss your cell service! Just download a couple good albums to your phone before you arrive and you’re good. They also have a sauna on their other grounds that you can access. This place is the most relaxing getaway for two - we couldn’t have wanted anything more! Thanks to David, the super-communicative and kind host, for everything.

*We are proud to announce that our tipi's were rated the best glamping location in Virginia by Hospitality Management Degrees* ~IF YOU DON'T SEE THE DATE YOU WANT, CHECK OUT OUR NEW EAGLE'S LANDING TIPI~ Enjoy the unique experience of upscale camping in an authentic American Indian Tipi! Cozy up in the fur blankets and listen to the crackling wood and chirping birds. Our horse farm is 5 min. from LU. On site horseback riding, fishing, and hiking are available.
You’ll love the views, the location, the outdoors space! It's a great place for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). The tipi is located on a private camp site with picnic table, fire pit, hammock, and parking space all to yourself! Though we do not have air-conditioning, we do have a fan and electrical outlets. We do have a shower, but keep in mind it is a gravity shower and it is not heated.
  • The space was beautiful and a surprise that we didn't realize was that there are multiple free range animals that interact with you. The space was perfect and it is exactly as described, the grounds are wonderful and there's more than enough provided to be able to camp and cook easily. We've already talked about going back to the tipi this year if we can squeeze another trip in.

    Stephanie2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great Experience! the host were very responsive to any questions we had. only one other tipi on the property and they are spaced out enough so that you feel you are alone

    Christian2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is pretty magical. Eleanor was about the friendliest cow I’ve ever encountered. She made my day. Highly recommend.

    Bridget2020-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first ‘glamping’ experience, and I’m so glad Angela’s place was my first one. The bed was amazing, the blankets were nice and thick to make up for the cold night, the heater and furnace actually ended up making a 40 degree night a little warm! On top of this and more Barry (co-host) was super responsive, sincere, and so helpful in getting to the tipi and informing us on how to operate once we got there. This was an absolute dream and I’ll be coming back here FOR SURE

    Caleb2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! The pictures don't do it justice. I can't wait to return!

    Meghan2020-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a unique and wonderful getaway. Angela and Barry were very accommodating and communicative throughout the stay. The tipi is decorated so cozy and is the perfect ‘glamping’ spot. There were so many thoughtful touches. We were shocked at how big the tipi is once you’re inside. There was plenty of firewood ready to go for both inside and outside. The bed was very comfy and warm with the extra blankets. The outhouse is the nicest you’ll ever see, way above our expectations for not having running water. We also had the opportunity to walk on the property and visit with some of the animals on the farm. We especially loved meeting the baby goat, so adorable!! You feel like you are completely secluded but yet still close to town for takeout/grocery store. We also drove to FallingWater Trail off Blue Ridge Parkway which was about 30 min away and was such a gorgeous hike, highly recommend!

    Ashley2020-04-12T00:00:00Z

  • I was looking for a quiet spot to reset my head, and this is the spot. The cottage is bright and clean and perfectly situated just a few minutes walk to the beach. Chris and Tim are wonderful hosts, quick to offer tips on what to see, where to eat, local excursions. So quiet at night I could open the window and listen to the ocean. Highly recommended, and I will hopefully be back soon!

The hosts have local knowledge and their recommendations are spot on. Read the comments on the menus and you cant go wrong. Love visiting here and looking forward to coming back for another getaway.

  • My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at OPC. There are only great things to say about this place; from the kind and welcoming hosts, Tim and his wife Chris, to their stunningly clean cottage and all of the personalized touches! Tim was so helpful and resourceful with all of the suggestions of places to go and sights to see, anything regarding the best ways to enjoy our little getaway!! Chris was very kind and thoughtful as well and thought of the perfect little ways to personalize our experience. There were so many fun things to do staying indoors too, as Chris and Tim provide a selection of over 300 books, an “Eat, Fun, Do” box, and games to play. Perfect place for quality time and bonding!!! Check in and check out were easy, perfect location (you can walk to the beach), local to many restaurants, grocery stores, and just stuff to do outdoors!! Chris and Tim will be as little or as much involved in your trip as you want them to be. They live in the next house next to OPC, but do respect your privacy completely, and are also easily accessible and respond quickly should you need anything. Just wonderful all-around!! Would definitely book here again for next VA beach trip!

  • This cabin has incredible views. Seriously beautiful. Didn’t get a chance to use the fire pit while I was there because of high winds and rain but was still able to sit outside and enjoy the covered porch, even when it was drizzling! The propane fireplace inside was a great consolation prize for the fire pit and kept the space nice and cozy! Bathroom stocked with bubble bath which was a lovely touch. I brought all my own food to cook but had to run out and purchase olive oil for cooking. Kitchen is stocked with pans and tea kettle + coffee maker. When I had an issue and contacted the hose, I received a prompt response from host who dealt with the situation quickly and I didn’t have another issue the rest of my stay. I felt safe in this space and the grounds as a whole. Perfect location, close to cville and surrounding attractions. Looking forward to staying again soon.

    Marc2020-04-23T00:00:00Z

    Aimee2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay off the grid. The doors do not lock, including the bathroom, and the loft has a super low ceiling so be prepared to lose at least one brain cell by forgetting and sitting up in the morning! Overall though it was amazing, and I would defiantly stay there again!

    Kara2020-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say about this space other than it is tranquility under a roof? Roseanne and Bill were incredibly kind and inviting hosts, offering recommendations well beyond just Shenandoah National Park. The cabin sits in the absolute perfect spot to watch the sun rise and set, and it's just tucked away enough to feel like you have the entire property to yourself. Tranquility doesn't get much better than this. The cabin itself is the definition of rustic, but has all the amenities needed to conduct much needed R&R. We'll definitely be staying here again when we return to Shenandoah and we'd recommend the cabin to anyone looking to get away from it all.

    Danielle2020-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • So peaceful and beautiful views. Even better that I expected, I hope to return.

    Katherine2020-04-04T00:00:00Z

Cozy, private one room cottage (with bathroom), run by a loving, easy-going, non-judging family. Cottage measures 12' x 24' (total of 288sq. feet). Very relaxed environment. Max price we will charge is $60.00 a night. Ask for details if you have more than 3 people. Wake up happy.
The Rubys Rest cottage is located in the back yard of our property, in close proximity to our main house. The cottage is one room. The cottage has a full size bed and a bunk bed (bed space for 4 people). We also have a child's cot and an adult size cot for a filth person. We have squeezed in more than 5 people before, if needed. The cottage has clean sheets and towels, along with a mini refrigerator, coffee maker, small tv (no cable or local channels), and dvd player (about a dozen or so of my favorite dvds are available). LOTS of interesting books to read. There is a window AC unit for the spring-fall and baseboard electric heat, which does a great job of keeping the cottage warm even on the coldest of nights. The bathroom is spacious and has a stand in shower, with hot and cold water. shampoo and soap provided. There is a covered deck attached to the cottage, with an outdoor sink and an outdoor shower. We have a chicken coop in the back corner of the yard with 6 chickens. We have four cats. Also, we share the backyard with my parents (their small house is in the back corner of our yard), they have a sweet dog named Norman. We have been renting the cottage out for about 8 years and enjoy meeting the wonderful people who stay with us. We try and keep costs as economical as possible for our guests; notably, the nightly cost(s) include both the county lodging tax and state sales tax. We are super easy going and will be sure to make you feel at ease here. All smiles - no worries.
We live in Damascus, on a dead end road, with very friendly neighbors. When you arrive, simply park in the driveway and walk thru the car port and into the backyard. The cottage will be in view. We have a Rubys Rest sign in our front yard.
  • We had 4 days stay 2 adults and 3 kids. The host and his family make us feel as at home. The kids were amazed with tree house and many animals around the property. This one of the best Airbnb I had ever rented!

  • My friend and I stopped here for a night on our way home from uni, it was a wonderful stay. Kind as can be and very hospitable. Would recommend to anyone wanting to explore the area!

  • My wife and I both enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect to walk to a shuttle service to get a ride to one (or several) of the many trails in the area. Jeffrey was very friendly and shared a lot of information about the areas attractions. I would definitely stay again. Plus chickens!

    John2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We'd stayed at Jeffrey's once before, a couple years ago. We loved being greeted by the dog and cats, and it's always fun to check in on the chickens. The place is full of a wonderful assortment of books--we left feeling really inspired to build ourselves a small cabin. I'd recommend staying here, just beware: the rooster crows at dawn!

    Bridgid2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff made our stay super comfy and personable. We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the outside space at his place. The space had a ton of great book for the traveler or thruhiker. Excited to visit again!!!

  • This is a really awesome place to stay! Very comfy feel, lots and lots of reading options! Couldn't recommend this one enough!

    James2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled on the top of a hill, Ruby’s Rest is the perfect getaway location. Everything felt like home — there was a library of books, a fridge, and everything else one would need for a night. Jeff’s place also has a treehouse-like platform, a chicken coup, and many other interesting elements. If you need advice on hiking, Jeff has a lot of knowledge on the local hikes and international hikes! I loved staying at Ruby’s Rest!

  • It was our second time staying at this place, and it was just as beautiful as the first time. Great location, amazing view, good amenities, useful tips from the host on things you can do in the area. Definitely gonna try to come back here again. Thank you!

    Nadia2020-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia’s place is everything other reviewers say it it. The star of the show is the view, of course, but the house is spacious, clean, and comfortable in its own right. Four wheel drive recommended to get here. We’ll be back for sure!

    Garrett2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely amazing. Spacious, clean and comfortable, and the views were absolutely fantastic. Couldn’t have chosen a better place to getaway for a few days. I would definitely come back!

    Diana2020-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a great mountain top cabin! The views are amazing and it had everything we needed to be comfortable. 5 min walk to hiking trail and very quiet and peaceful. We didn’t get a chance to experience the local restaurants, wineries, distilleries , and shops due to everything being closed for COVID 19 but we couldn’t think of a better place to stay during these crazy times. Olivia was super quick to respond to any questions we had. Would definitely return.

    Adam2020-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • This home is amazing! It is a true getaway in an absolutely beautiful setting. The home is super comfortable, very well-stocked, close to true natural beauty & extremely dog-friendly! We loved all our outdoor time, and want to come back to do even more trails & check out all that the area has to offer that we didn't get to. Olivia was a fantastic host - very responsive! All-around one of the best places we've stayed - highly recommend!

    Heather2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this house is incredible. You are literally at the ridge of a mountain with a total of only 6 other homes. The house overlooks the Shenandoah Valley, Shenandoah river, and the Blue Ridge Mountains...it's just stunning. Being able to use the fireplace was such a nice bonus. Staying at Olivia's cabin was the perfect tranquil getaway. Others have mentioned this too, but the driveway is incredibly rough, lots of pot holes and it's narrow. While I was comfortable doing it in my sedan in the spring, I would not take the trip without being in a higher vehicle with four wheel drive if there's snow or ice (which Olivia has also mentioned in her notes, but wanted to second that). Overall, if you're looking for a place to come and just be in nature and venture in to see a small down or nearby vineyards, this is a great place to do so!

    Alana2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous view! Super peaceful! Great retreat. Would love to go back soon!!!!

    Gina2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Genuinely the best 2 day vacation I've ever had. The private driveway is very rocky and a little narrow, but even my 2010 toyota prius could handle it. However, if you care about your car's paint job, you may want to use a rental car for this trip. The cabin was very clean, kitchen was much more well stocked than I'd expected and the fireplace in the living room made the whole place very warm and cozy. Overall 10/10 would reccomend and will definitely be back again to enjoy it in the summertime

Mountain retreat, surrounded by forest, ample outdoor space (2 level deck), tree-house feel! Ideal for a couple, 2 bathrooms, WiFi, hiking nearby. Unbelievable views, stylish yet rustic comfort. 25 min to Staunton, 45 min to Charlottesville, under 3 hrs to DC.
Designed like an umbrella perched on the side of a mountain, the vaulted ceilings and glass walls let you feel like you are floating in the trees with the hummingbirds and finches! Artsy and modern yet woodsy and rustic, this is a fantastic escape from fast paced DC or Richmond city life.
  • Jill's place was AWESOME! The yurt was such a unique experience and offered everything my wife and I could have possibly wanted in a getaway weekend. The house up on a steep incline so the views were spectacular. The deck was a great place to hang out and enjoy the view and we loved having the fire pit down below for the chilly nights. There are a number of great hikes very close by which was perfect for us and our dog, who also had an amazing time. We didn't use the grill, but the kitchen provided everything we could have possibly needed. We packed some of our own cookware/utensils as we didn't know exactly what we might need, but we ended up just using everything that was provided which was great. It was the perfect place for a weekend getaway, but we both agreed we could have definitely seen ourselves staying for a few more days or even a week as the place offered everything we could have wanted. Overall we had a fantastic time and would absolutely recommend a stay here to anyone considering.

  • This home was beautiful! My friend and I had a wonderful time. The view is amazing and the amenities are perfect for a nice relaxing week off. There are some great trails nearby, but even just staying in the yurt was an experience of its own!

  • Absolutely love this venue! The pictures do not do this place justice. The home is full of personality and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a cozy, perfect little home that served as the romantic weekend getaway that we needed. We will definitely be back!

  • Jill's place was wonderful! View was amazing, and the treehouse-like feel made the weekend unique and special. Would definitely like to go back!

  • This yurt was amazing. My partner and I stayed here for a weekend away from the busy city life. Driving down the roads and seeing all the beautiful trees and scenery was amazing! The check in was super easy. The home was just so cosy. I could have sat by the glass windows for hours on end. One evening we played some games that we found in the yurt. It was just so pleasant. The whole experience felt warm and comfortable. Thank you again!

  • Sara and Jeremiah are amazing persons living their life the fullest. They are super welcoming and will make you feel like home. It is easy to converse with them for a long time! We loved our stay! 👍

  • If you’re looking for a cozy, welcoming place to stay that’s aesthetically pleasing and surrounded with breath taking views, this is the place for you. The owners of this property have truly put their heart and soul into what they’re doing and you can see it the second you get there. This was easily one of my best experiences yet and I can’t wait to go back!

    Lauren2020-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this rental- from the simple check-in and welcoming hosts, to the lovely animals roaming about- exceeded our expectations. The teepee was super cool and cozy. We loved the surrounding environs and checking out the town. It was the perfect spot to get out of the city for a bit and relax. Highly recommend! (Oh and make sure to check out their super cool greenhouse / garden)

    Adam2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a dream. Beyond what my boyfriend Michael and I expected. The detail, love, and care this family puts into the tipi is immeasurable. Heck! They even had a cute little sticker with a sweet message on the toilet paper... now that’s thoughtful right there! OH and the most spectacular stain glass kaleidoscope that will knock your socks right off. Give that a whirl! The scenery all around was picturesque, the tipi was cozy and warm with wonderful decorations, and the fire area was comfortable and relaxing with plenty of wood to keep it going. The sacred grounds this tipi lives on also houses some of the most genuine, funny, and down to earth people I’ve ever met with magnificent hospitality. These kind folks names might as well be in the dictionary under the word Awesome because they totally rock :P. Visiting the tipi is an experience you surely won’t forget. Sooner than later, we shall be back!

You'll feel like you're on a houseboat without the waves! Some of the most amazing views and sunsets you'll ever experience and a truly relaxing place to be. Fish or crab off the deck or take a short walk to the pool. Or spend the day at the beach. Remodeled unit. You can sit inside and still feel like you're outdoors. Park model trailer in RV Park on Back Bay in desirable Sandbrige Beach.
This is a 400 sq ft park model trailer. It has 1 bedroom with a queen sized bed and a queen sized pull out sofa bed in the living room. It accommodates 4 guests. The kitchen has full sized appliances and the shower and tub is full sized. Perfect for a couple or family with children. May be a bit small for 4 adults if you desire a more spacious place.
On Back Bay waterfront. Known for fishing, crabbing, hunting, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, and more. Adjacent to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Blocks to Sandbridge Beach known for surfing and relaxing and the beach locals prefer. Close to Baja Restaurant which features expansive outdoor bar area with feature bands and entertainment and corn hole most nights during the summer. Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens are close enough for a day trip and worth it!
  • This place is all about the location! The views of the water and sunset are unbeatable. The ocean is a 5-10min walk. It has everything you need for your stay - linens, cooking, etc. It was the perfect size for two people, I probably wouldn't add too many more. Our favorite thing to do was walk down to the ocean, and then come back and grill out on the patio. There is a beautiful park with trails about a 5min car ride away as well.

    Sarah2020-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this place, we hope will come back again, thanks a lot for everything 😊

    Eli2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The space was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities we could ask for. It’s a wonderful place to get away with your loved one. The entire place is literally feet from the bay and you can enjoy both beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the huge deck. It is a quiet, romantic getaway that is a true bargain compared to staying in hectic downtown Virginia Beach. We dined at the Baja restaurant right next door and had a great meal. The store at the beginning of Sandpiper Road has EVERYTHING you need for supplies so you don’t have to travel very far if you just need to pick up a few things during your stay. The beach across the street from the resort is beautiful as well ❤️❤️❤️

  • Do not hesitate to contact Christie if you want to enjoy a cosy homy romantic house in front of the bay! From the house, you will see a gorgeous sunset! All the details will make you feel you are in a boat. Very cute place! We recommend it.

  • This is a very nice place for two. If you like a water venue, being able to walk to the beach and want an affordable price this cozy Bayside beach getaway is perfect! The Baha restaurant right outside of the park is very nice & so convenient. We enjoyed our stay here.

  • We absolutely loved staying at this cabin over the weekend. It's located right in Luray, so it's close enough to stores but far enough for some much-needed solitude. Everything was so easy, from check-in to check-out. Culin always made sure to respond to questions and provide us with plenty of information to make our stay as memorable as possible. We'll be back!

  • Blue Moon Cabin is a great place to go to escape. The front porch looks over the beautiful mountains and the back porch with the hot tub is great in the day with the view of the mountains and in the night with the view of the stars. It feels very secluded and private. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Great place for a romantic getaway or family trip!

  • Great place to stay at! Enjoyed the beautiful outdoors hiking and was extremely thankful for the jacuzzi! Beautiful cabin that we hope to rent again. Highly recommend.

    Renee2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • House appears to be very new and everything is in excellent shape. It was very clean. Appreciated the grill and accessories even though the rain ruined our plans to use it. Hot tub is great and there's evidence to prove it is taken care of regularly by a professional. We thought it would be more private - pictures don't show there's a house on each side and one in back (but neighbors keep to themselves). Note, the walk to the river is more of a hike. Communication from owner was very helpful. We had a great stay, thank you.

    Jessica2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway from the city - highly recommend! The cabin itself was absolutely beautiful and had all the amenities you would need and more. Everything from the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were well stocked and felt very homey. Culin was a great host and provided us with all the information needed for check-in, check-out, and local hot spots!

    Ashley2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I loved our 2 night stay at Blue Moon Cabin! It was VERY clean and surpassed all of our expectations. Culin was an amazing host, he gave us so many great suggestions for the local attractions as well as very fast response times. It was the perfect private getaway while staying in Luray! Our only disappointment was that many of the local breweries and wineries are only open on weekends during this time of year, so we were unable to visit them during our stay. Fortunately, we picked up some wine from the local Walmart and had a great time enjoying the large front porch and rocker chairs at the cabin. (:

    Emily2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean place and had everything you needed for a cozy cabin getaway! Culin was great with recommendations and always prompt with check-in and responses. My mom, sister and I really enjoyed our time there. We went to Hawksbill Brewery one day and took a walk down to the river.

    Chase2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Culin was quick to respond and offered lots of local tips. The cabin was clean and well decorated. The hot tub and fire pit were really nice and overall, it was a fantastic trip.

Ever wanted to know what it felt like to live in a one room log cabin? Now you have the chance! This cabin from the 1840s was meticulously reassembled on a 500 acre farm. The cabin sits right on the James River. Come and enjoy the quiet, the river and the scenery and forget the hustle and bustle of the city. No electric or water but a great fireplace, bed and porch overlooking the river. Lots of hiking trails and a canoe provided. We have just added an outdoor Kichen and bath facility
This one room log cabin is on the James River. Come and enjoy it - just like you are camping but with a VERY nice “tent”! The cabin has state of the art solar lighting both inside and on the porch. This is a new addition it is added to the convenience of the space.
This is the most secluded part of the farm. We will check on you daily if you wish to see if there are questions or any thing that is needed. We can also give you your space. Just let us know.
  • Dan’s property is truly Amazing ! We were warmly welcomed by Dan , Derek and Zach whom helped us get situated at the cabin . Dan also left us amazing fresh meat and eggs which We enjoyed by the campfire on the river . The cabin is unique and beautiful with the scenery to match . Rustic and remote you truly feel transported back in time , which is exactly what we were looking for . A true glamping experience , all basics needs were provided . We even had the option to fish and kayak with the equipment provided , which made staying on the river even more enjoyable! We felt well taken care of on our stay . We were even helped out when the car battery died . We would highly recommend to other individuals looking for a beautiful natural spot with history to match ! Make sure to bring light camping gear and extra lights if preferred . Can’t say enough about the place , we will definitely be back again . Book ! You will not be disappointed .

  • This Cabin is absolutely fantastic a stones throw away from the James River and alot of fun off roading to get to it as well! The farm was gorgeous

    Staci2020-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil oasis. Dan and his family are a delight. The farm and river are beautiful. The cabin is just as shown, and the rocking chairs on the front porch are the perfect spot to enjoy the setting. Everything we needed was there. Our phones worked fine (Verizon). You definitely need a four wheel drive vehicle.

    Jessica2020-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful cabin is right on the river and is the perfect place to unwind. We loved the truly historic and rustic feel it had. It was very comfortable and they had every single amenity you could want to help with cooking and comfort. Maybe bring an extra blanket or two cos the nights can be cold even with the fire! There’s a fire pit, outdoor kitchen and outhouse. There’s no running water or electricity but you don’t even notice that because there’s so much to enjoy there. It was truly the perfect couple days. They’re pet friendly and it’s an excellent place to bring the pup!

    Erin2020-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Dan’s log cabin was the perfect environment for getting away from the rest of the world to relax and unwind. One can expect no cell service and no electricity, however neither was needed to have a great time. Dan’s log cabin offered plenty of firewood, numerous tea lights, a very clean outhouse, and the coziest bed. It’s easy to say that my boyfriend and I look forward to spending another trip down at Dan’s log cabin.

    Amanda2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • All the amenities that you would never expect in a rented cabin. Don’t worry about bringing your grill or pans. Beautiful location right on the river. Would definitely recommend for your next “camping with a fancy tent” experience!

    Kelly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway! My wife, myself, and our dog truly enjoyed our stay. The cabin stayed warm and cozy as we had a fire going most of the weekend (Late February). Used the outdoor kitchen the first night we stayed. Easy check-in, we borrowed the 4 wheel drive vehicle which was essential in navigating to the cabin. We packed too much! Dan did a great job providing everything you'd need to stay for the weekend (utensils, paper plates, pots and pans, trash bags, germ-x, seasoned firewood, etc.). We would definitely go back!

  • A great get away space. It reminded me of a college kid set up (In a cool way) definitely a place better to order/pick up food than try to do a lot of cooking onsite.

  • Maria's Airbnb is a fantastic spot to stay! The basement area that she is has is very cozy with a working TV, pool table, and wifi. The hottub outside is on for the entirety of your stay 24/7 and is great. Easy access to shanendoah. Only thing of note is that there is no kitchen (just a minifridge, a toaster, a coffeemaker and a microwave), so this is not the place to stay if you want to cook your own meals. Highly recommend!

    Jeremy2020-04-13T00:00:00Z

  • David’s apartment was so amazing it felt like home. Immediately upon arrival the energy was very welcoming. The decor was really nice, the apartment was immaculate. He even welcomed us with SNACKS!!! There was a tablet that had all the info for the nearest shops and restaurants. David’s place had all the amenities we needed and more. The bed was so comfortable, I could barely get up! Needless to say, I’ll definitely book with David again. I recommend his place and give him 5 stars!

  • Had a great stay here! Great location! There were tons of good food options nearby, and also plenty of street parking in addition to the private space in the back. In an older building but apartment has an updated feel. Bathroom is on the smaller side, my boyfriend is 6’5” and had issues getting around in there. We really enjoyed our stay though. Thanks David for your tips and responsiveness.

  • David's place is amazing! It has an unbeatable location, and we were able to walk everywhere. There are so many great restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk, and the apartment itself is much larger in person. We really appreciated the thoughtful details, the snacks, water, and detergent that David provided. Would love to stay here again!

Our cabin is on Route 16 otherwise known as the Back of The Dragon, near Hungry Mother's State Park, a winery and some great family owned dining. You’ll love our cabin because of the quiet serene setting, the view, and the ability to completely relax. It located near many outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing. Disclosure to those operating motorcycles - the access road to the cabin is gravel. There is a flat spot at the bottom of the hill just below the cabin to park motorcycles.
This cabin rental comes with your own private picnic area, fire pit, mini bar and charcoal grill, microwave, mini fridge, and hot plate. There is also a second rental just about this rental available on Airbnb as well, "The Iron Horse" is also rented thru Foxtail Orchards Cabins and Campgrounds, LLC. The cabin is around 300sq ft total.
Enjoy the sounds and setting of living in the country.

Check in was super easy and convenient, and the views were awesome. The cabin included anything extra we might need for our weekend stay. • We spent a memorable night in the treehouse after other plans were dashed. A last minute reservation and quick responses allowed for early check in to enjoy the glorious weather and eclectic compound. Accommodations were ideal for a unique and relaxing experience. From the treehouse to the lower level gazebo, to the various trails and walkways, we enjoyed carefree and peaceful moments. There were take out options to enjoy at restaurants nearby, and I know there are outdoor adventures in the vicinity. But that is not why I was there... The treehouse offered exactly the escape I needed. The hospitality and follow up are commendable. I'm already planning to return.

  • Had a lovely, relaxing time at the Treehouse! The property is amazing and very relaxing. We enjoyed the huge kitchen where we made dinner and then sat outside on the porch and watched the ducks and admired the beautiful spring flowers. We also made an amazing campfire and roasted marshmallows (lots of firewood to use) and used the relaxing sauna. Only 20 minutes away from great hiking at Shenandoah. We can't wait to come back!

  • Very fast responses and lovely space! Was a bit surprised that there were other Airbnbs on the same property, but it wasn't a problem at all. The treehouse interior is LOVELY and the coffee was very yummy 😋

  • Absolutely amazing!

    Jane2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • David's Treehouse was a part of a much larger compound that was clearly a labor of love and unique in every aspect. Our spot was very clean, well-managed, communication was awesome, Wifi was good, and very close to Skyline Drive where there was a lot of good hiking spots. Only warning I'd have is that cell service is spotty but since the Wifi is strong if you have Wifi calling it should be fine!

    Regina2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in the Treehouse. What a unique, relaxing, creative place! Thanks, we look forward to revisiting and maybe trying a different suite. Loved the music, sauna, dipping pool, Zen room, multiple fireplaces. Whenever it's completed, gotta try Hobbit House!

Beautiful cabin in private mountain community, perched in the trees with mountain views and short walk to the Shenandoah River.
The "Treehouse" is an A-frame cabin sitting on a hillside, surrounded by trees. When you are sitting in the house or on its huge deck, it feels as if you are perched in the trees. It is a one-room cabin, with loft and large exterior deck. The first floor is an open area, with living room, full kitchen and eating area, and bathroom. The second floor is a loft, accessible by ladder. There is a double bed on the loft and two double futons and one single (kid-sized) futon on the main level. Linens and towels: We ask that guests bring linens, if they are able to do that easily. We do not have laundry facilities onsite, so doing laundry is a high cost we want to avoid having to pass onto guests (approx 2hours at laundromat @$20 hour and cost of laundromat approx $10). We do have sheets and towels available for those that need them — just let us know in advance and we will make sure to have them available for you.
The Treehouse is located in the "Shenandoah Gap" community on a private mountain in Shenandoah, VA. As a Treehouse guest, you have full access to the Shenandoah Gap river access area, as well as to all common areas of the mountain (i.e., trails accessible off the road).
  • Simply amazing.

  • Beautiful scenery, really does feel like you are in a tree!

    Brittany2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice stay. It finds itself off a gravel road, in a place where the houses are few and far between. Creating a nice secluded feeling, the house itself looks pretty neat too. The place was very clean, and there is lots of stuff around for entertainment, books, movies, board games, a coloring book etc... I think one of are favorites was the hammock. All of the amenities work very well, the bathroom is also very nice. The loft area is amazing, great view when looking out the bay windows at the front of the cabin and a nice view looking into the woods behind the cabin. Overall an awesome place and was better than I had expected it to be :) thank you!!

Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and featured in Savor Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Go Glamping in Virginia," this cabin is a respite from the busyness of life. Located on 2.5 acres backing onto a mountain stream, our cabin is minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail, Glenwood Horse Trail, countless hikes, and several ultramarathon courses. Our cabin is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and people from all backgrounds are welcome.
At just over 300 square feet this "tiny house" is both quaint and surprisingly spacious boasting an open floor plan and cathedral ceiling. The cabin accommodates 5 people comfortably (queen bed in loft; bedroom with 3 bunks). Can accommodate 1 or 2 additional people on the pullout couch (double bed).
While quiet and remote, the cabin is situated within a small rural mountain community with a few permanent residents and other vacation home owners.
  • This cabin is amazing. It’s nestled deep in the blue ridge mountains, perfect for easy access to some beautiful hiking trails. We loved the fire pit and grill. It’s very cozy and comfortable inside. We had a great experience!

  • Looking for an adorable getaway? This is it. Super cute house with most everything you need. Our three kids loved the tiny bunk room and playing down by the stream. We also did the marble yard hike, and that was a big winner. Visiting Natural Bridge was also gorgeous. The upstairs bed is super comfy, and the down comforter/duvet/pillows were fantastic. Plan on taking super quick showers to conserve hot water. Bring your own firewood!

  • This is our second time back at Tim and Cindi's place and we will definitely be coming back again! The perfect weekend get away.

    Sasha2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • I have absolutely zero complaints. Everything was described accurately. Sweet touches and amenities that I didn't expect. Communication was exceptional and quick. Thank you!! Would recommend without hesitation, if a mountain relaxing vibe is what you're after, you have found it.

    Rachel2020-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start? From the minute we got to Tim and Cindi's place, we were amazed. My only regret was not staying longer! We have stayed in many places before and this was, by far, one of our favorite experiences. We wanted a trip into the mountains with no planning involved except for grocery shopping. We found the perfect place… The space – You can tell they take pride in their space. The entire cabin was meticulously planned out to accommodate all needs. It was all very clean and organized. Every space had a special purpose that was designed perfectly! We had everything we could possibly need for a quick weekend out of the city in style and comfort. The location – The location was perfect. We were amid beautiful mountains and natural scenery. Sitting on the patio or by the fire just enjoying the sounds of nature were some of our favorite parts of the house. We were a quick ride or walk away from various hikes within the Blue Ridge Mountains. We chose to hike Sharp Top Mountain based on a recommendation from our hosts and we were not disappointed! The views were spectacular. This is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. The hosts – Tim and Cindi were very responsive when it came to messaging. It was very easy to check in and out of the cabin. Like I said – they really thought of everything you could need for the weekend and we did not have to ask for anything the entire trip! They gave great recommendations and helpful tips for the stay. You can tell they really enjoy where they live. Very thoughtful and organized! Needless to say we got tons of messages when we posted pictures about our trip inquiring where we stayed and how we found such a great place! We will be returning in the future for another stay. Thank you Tim and Cindi for providing us with such a special stay at your beautiful space

    Lance2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean and well appointed. Carefully thought out tiny home. Fantastic “base camp” for exploring some of the best hikes in Virginia all within a half hour drive of this private cabin. Perfectly quiet which was what we were looking for.

    Neil2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED spending a week in this lovely little cottage! The cabin is beautiful and secluded... and we really loved walking to the stream each day. I highly recommend this cabin.

  • Tim & Cindy's cabin in the woods was the perfect place for 'glamping'! It's small but super well equipped to have everything you might need. We had a great time.

Please : No smoking inside the cabin. The driveway is very passable but some with low vehicle clearance have expressed I should give a heads up. If you’re not sure, you can walk down the driveway first. The river trail is over 50 miles long and no motorized traffic is allowed Very private. Located on 75 acres of private property adjoining the New River Trail Dogs allowed
No neighbors to bother you. Every Thursday night there is a free bluegrass performance at the local recreation center in Fries. Local talent. 7 to 9 pm
  • A perfect place to get away. It's nice and secluded but still only a 5min drive to the market for any essentials. Easy self check in process. We handled the driveway no problem with a Ford Focus. Just take it slowly and you'll be fine. Love the walk along the stream/river. Love all the little touches and attention to detail James went through to decorate the space, too. Definitely a recommend...

  • This place is a gem. Hands down my favorite place I’ve ever stayed.

    Bridget2020-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • James was super nice and helpful. His cabin is beautiful and with lots of little touches that make the cabin feel warm and cozy. The trail right next to the cabin was also wonderful

  • Now one of my favorite places

  • We decided to cap off a backpacking trip in Grayson Highlands by extending our trip at this cabin. If you are looking for quiet and secluded time in nature, this cabin certainly delivers. I enjoyed sitting on the porch and reading, building fires in the wood stove, and hiking down to and along The New River. The cabin was well decorated, and the kitchen had enough equipment that we were able to cook all the food we needed. Unfortunately, the shower was not working while we were there, but there was plenty of hot water for a more indulgent bath. James was very responsive to our messages and made sure that we were well accommodated. He even shared some of his chickens' eggs with us, which we enjoyed for breakfast. We would happily return again in the future if we find ourselves in the area again.

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have loved this place more, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I was there.

    Hannah2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to rest and rewind. The hike to the river is awesome and I left feeling relaxed and uplifted. The property is gorgeous and the cabin has everything you need. It was a little cold the first week of March, but the host had a ton of firewood and I kept the wood burning stove going all week. I will definitely return next time I need an escape.

    Kelli2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a wintry girls weekend in this charming little cabin and we made memories we’ll cherish forever. Note that if you’re visiting in the winter it is quite cold - space heaters & the wood burning stove helped but it was still quite chilly. Also - we did feel a bit vulnerable in the evening. It’s a very remote location, and there’s not much in terms of security. But all in all it was the location of our dreams!

  • Dan’s grand cabin was the perfect getaway we needed! The cabin is beautiful and the views are even better. Dan was super helpful and gave us lots of tips on where to find hikes and views on his farm. He also made treats for our dog!

    Milane2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had an absolutely incredible stay. Dan and his family are generous, friendly, and hospitable. The cabin and farm are simply a wonderland. We will be back as soon as we possibly can.

  • My fiance and I we’re honestly looking for a getaway from everything that is happening currently. We wanted to find a secluded place to relieve our minds, where there was a view that could mesmerize us and a cabin that was clean and memorable. What we did not expect however, was to be absolutely amazed at just about everything when we got to Dan’s cabin. The pictures only tell so much but the place is almost like you are on your own mountain in a movie. I think my fiance and I stared at the view for a whole hour before unpacking our bags! Not only that, but the manager Lisa has amazing hospitality. She even recommended a fishing spot that became one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, 10/10 and if I could give another 10, I would in a heartbeat! Thank you guys for an amazing stay!

    Stephanie2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the cabin. Amazing views from two balconies, cozy fires, beautiful trails, spots to hang out by the river...the list goes on! Our two dogs were in heaven exploring the farm. We would love to come back and experience the cabin in a different season. Would definitely recommend for a weekend getaway.

    Maggie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Dan and his team responded quickly and were very helpful. Everyone was super friendly and the view is amazing! The pictures don’t do it justice. For no power or running water it was still perfect. 100% recommend this cabin.

    Michaela2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot with a great view of the river! We enjoyed reading on the deck and walking through the farm down to the river for a picnic. Thanks to Dan, Lisa, and everyone else for making the stay so great!

Featured in Lynchburg Living magazine, this newly remodeled vintage apartment in a 1901 historic home is located in a downtown Lynchburg residential neighborhood and boasts beautiful views of the James River. 10 min walk to downtown dining, shopping, Academy of Arts, and walking trails. Only minutes from Liberty Univ & Univ of Lynchburg, the one bedroom, one bathroom apartment with a full kitchen, living, dining area & cable TV is full of character. Off street parking and private entrance.
***We want you to know we are doing our part to help our Airbnb guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touches surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.). This is an incredibly unique space in downtown Lynchburg, as it's hard to find better views of the James River anywhere in Lynchburg. The apartment is part of an addition onto a 1901 historic home and has many unique characteristics such as a wall of lathe made out of wood original to the house, a sliding pocket door to the bathroom, a sliding historic door to the bedroom, a European upflush plumbing system, and shiplap in the bathroom. BEDROOM: queen bed & open-style closet LIVING ROOM: queen sleeper sofa, cable tv with Netflix, 2 sitting chairs DINING ROOM: table and chairs, closet KITCHEN: stainless steel range/stove, fridge, microwave, Keurig w/ some K-cups, deep porcelain sink, custom shelving and cabinet, basic kitchen necessities (pots/pans, glassware, utensils, paper products, etc) BATHROOM: shower, vessel sink, built in shelving, towels, hair dryer, shampoo, soap, and upflush toilet system OUTSIDE: entrance is a set of private French doors that allow lots of natural light and beautiful views of the James River and Scotts Mill Dam, wooden deck with chair CLIMATE CONTROL The apartment has an energy efficient ductless air unit, and combined with a double layer of insulation, it stays cool in the summer and warm all winter long. WHAT'S AROUND The house is in a national historic district, and the neighborhood is full of beautiful, architecturally diverse historic homes. Downtown shops and restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk. At the end of the street is an entrance to the Blackwater Creek trail system, which includes miles of scenic, paved walking and biking trails. Point of Honor, the plantation home of Patrick Henry's physician, Dr. George Cabell, is only a stones throw away. We are only a quick 10-12 minutes away from Liberty University and even closer to the University of Lynchburg and Randolph College.
Daniel's Hill is a beautiful, historic neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Lynchburg's shops, restaurants, and events. Just a stones throw away from the house is Point of Honor, the plantation home of Patrick Henry's physician which is now a museum open to tour. Our street ends at an entrance to the Blackwater Creek Trail system, which provides guests miles of paved (and unpaved) walking, hiking and bike trails. In our neighborhood, you'll find some brick-paved roads flanked with historic lamp posts, a bustling community center with a fenced-in park and playground, sidewalks in both directions, and architecturally impressive homes built from the 1820's to the early 1900's. The people in our neighborhood are just as beautiful and diverse as the houses themselves, ranging from residents who have lived in the neighborhood for 50+ years and others who are new to Lynchburg. On the block alone, there families with young children, single professionals, and elderly couples. It is a "front porch" neighborhood where everyone knows everyone and they watch out for one another. We love this neighborhood and are proud to call it our family's home.
  • Amy and Marc were absolutely amazing. The place was decorated so cute. Very relaxing. We interacted with the kids when leaving out and they were so well mannered. Everything about this place is perfect and we will definitely be returning.

  • We adored our stay in the yurt, so much so that we extended. The yurt itself is wonderful and super comfortable, luxurious even for a tent. You will be able to make wonderful meals in the kitchen or grill on the deck. Bonus is the delicious farm products you’re able to buy. Super delicious! We also really enjoyed walking on the property; easy to access larger trail network as well. Dreamy!

  • Martha and Whitt's yurt was fantastic! Great location for hiking, vineyards, and more. The yurt was awesome, spacious but cozy. Would stay again and recommend for families or couples looking for a perfect Shenandoah getaway! Make sure you ask for farm eggs and we delicious farm sausage.

  • Whitt and Martha were absolutely amazing. The snacks that you can buy are so delicious. Martha has instructions on everything in detail which is very nice. They also respond very fast Incase something happens. Incredible weekend, I also got engaged at the yurt on my birthday. Definitely coming back in the upcoming years.
