  • Stylish and secluded, Famtin is a beautifully designed space in a stunning setting. When we weren’t exploring the wineries just a short drive away, we made the most of all this memorable property has to offer - swimming from our own private jetty, enjoying a braii in the lovely outdoor space, watching the sunset, marvelling at the spectacular moonrise, then getting up early to watch the sunrise, ready to do it all again! Candice, while not based at the property, was a lovely, responsive host, who helped make our stay the total joy it was.

    Martin2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • A spectacular place for getting away from the city for a few nights. Quiet, peaceful and nestled beautifully into nature. Candice was a great and responsive host and we wanted for nothing. Would go back in a heartbeat!

If you haven’t been to Tulbagh before you are in for a wonderful surprise as there are so many things to do and see. Just 90 minutes from Cape Town and part of the Cape Winelands. This tranquil farming valley is nestled between three mountains, The Groot Winterhoek, The Witzenberg and the Obiqua. You will be staying on a beautiful farm with exclusive use of The Boathouse, situated at Oakhurst Olives, against the slopes of the Groot Winterhoek Mountains.

The Boathouse consists of an open plan living room with dining table, fully equipped kitchen & scullery (with dishwasher), a queen sized air conditioned bedroom with white percale linen and an ensuite bathroom with shower. For those cold winter days there is a log fire in the living room and underfloor heating throughout. The living area and bedroom open out on to the wrap around patio overlooking the water. The patio has a barbecue/braai as well as a gas barbecue and dining area. On the lower level there is a ladder to access the water for swimming (swimming towels are provided) as well as a kayak and life jackets for your use. • All I can say is, WOW. This place is a dream! The house is beautiful, clean and feels like home. There is every amenity you can think of and even a generator for those pesky power outages. My partner and I had a wonderful time playing with Rena and Oliver, the two very friendly farm dogs, who accompanied us on farm walks and sundowners. The views from the house are spectacular and we can’t wait to come back in October!

  • The boathouse is every bit as scenic as it looks in the photos, and more! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and the house has some wonderful, thoughtful touches that we felt added to its charm. The views are wonderful, the furnishings are very comfortable, and we had all we needed for a self-catering stay. The dogs came to visit us as well, and joined us for an evening walk which we (and they) loved. Thanks to our host Sue for a wonderful stay. Would definitely recommend the boathouse to anyone looking for a breathtaking spot out of town.

    Jonathan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the most amazing Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at and we stay at them quite a bit. Sue and her husband were so warm and welcoming. The place is spectacular, even better than the pictures! Our favorite part was their pups that come down for a visit. They’re so sweet and really made it feel like home.

You’ll love my place because of the location. The Breede River Valley is a beautiful part of the Western Cape. Wolseley is a small town that is surrounded by beautiful mountains. We have a big, peaceful garden with the "Koraalboom" (big tree) in the centre. Both rooms have access to the garden and have a private entrance. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. Safe parking. Tee and coffee available.
Small village. Easy to find. Near Ceres and Tulbagh.
  • Amazing location and hospitality, even though I only quickly stayed for one night. And they have the sweetest and cutest dogs ever! Would definitely recommend!

    Vicky2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay in Wouter's AirBnB. The place was clean and spacious with many thoughtful touches. We loved our stay! Next time we have a wedding to attend in Tulbagh/Wolseley, we will stay here again!

    Amy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay in - friendly dogs, relaxing garden, ideally situated. I couldn't stay more than one night but I'm definitely going back :)

    Noam2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't stay in the accommodation myself but helped some of my friends and family to make the bookings at Wouter's place. We had our wedding at a venue nearby. All the guests that made use of the accommodation only had positive things to say. They loved the extra personal touches in the room, making sure there are some nibbles, milk etc and also that the rooms were beautiful and clean. Definitely will recommend it for anyone looking for accommodation in the Wolseley area.

  • Beautiful property with loads of space and everything you need in the kitchen - a great place to relax and Candice was helpful and response to any questions that we had. There is also a visitor guide with everything you need to know and information about local attractions. The location is quite remote so perfect to get away from it all. I found that there wasn’t a huge amount to do in the local area that was right for us it, but it was great for a short stay as we didn’t need to venture out much.

  • Above and beyond our expectations, the River stone House is the perfect weekend getaway. Right on the river and surrounded by mountains with everything you can think of to make your stay amazing- I would definitely recommend it!

    Ian2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful time at Riverstone House. Tulbagh wine valley is just down the road. As well as Bosjes. So as well as a very picturesque valley there are lots of places to visit. Or you can just relax and enjoy the sound of the river and the very active bird life.

    Amy2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Riverstone House is a truly spectacular place to get away and relax. The river started flowing for the year during our stay, which was quite a magical thing to witness. We'll definitely be back.

  • The house is such a litlle peace of heaven. Everything was perfect. 1 of the 2 showers didnt work great but they send somebody very quickly to try to fix it. It shows they want everything to be perfect (although it didnt bother us at all). We could swim in the river, we slept great in their great beds. Highly recomended place to have a peacefull and relaxing time. Greetings Lisa

  • We really enjoyed our weekend away. The hot tub was great and amount of firewood supplied more that enough for braaing and keeping the hot tub going. Very relaxing and close enough to wine farms and towns.

    Calvin2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Hoogwater cottage is a great getaway. It is a fully working fruit farm, which makes for an incredible and unique experience. Madri let us walk around the farm and pick our own fruit - which was amazing! The bathroom is large and spacious with a walk in shower. The cottage is simple but is well kitted out with the basics you need to make your own meals if you decide to not eat at the local vineyards. The location is perfect enough to feel like a getaway - but also has wifi to keep you connected. We enjoyed our time, the hosts were extremely warm and friendly!

Located 4.5 km outside Tulbagh, in the quaint hamlet of Drostdy, Jackson's offers a cosy 4-bedroom house, which sleeps up to 6. Our spot is a historical monument (it used to be the home for the clerk of the nearby Tulbagh Drostdy) situated in a rural/farming area, with beautiful views of the Tulbagh mountains.
The house has four rooms - queen, double, single and 3/4. The Queen room has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. There is also a full bathroom to share for all the other rooms. We don't have a TV or wifi, which makes it the perfect getaway. Put your feet up with a good book, relax on the couch and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains from the pool.
  • A fantastic place! We only spend three days at Jackson’s but would have loved to stay for another week. The location and surroundings are breathtaking and the owner has been a great host for us.

The views are spectacular. Max the resident cat is very sweet and made himself comfortable in our family. The house was everything that we could have wanted. We’ll definitely be back oneday.

11km into the spectacular Winterhoek mountains you will find, a very special retreat, Brandwag. You will be treated to breath taking views of vineyards, orchards and the towering mountains. It is a well appointed manor house comprising of 3 bedrooms, a two and a half bathrooms, expansive living areas and a large farm kitchen. Large stoep, well maintained garden and a swimming pool. Adventure spaces are availaible for children. We also host small intimate weddings for up to 50 people.
The beauty of the area is truly spectacular. You are in a amphitheatre of mountains that are snow capped in winter and hazy blue in summer. Photographs do not do justice. Our water is sourced from a mountain spring and although we support responsible water usage, you do not have to feel guilty to have a 5 minute shower as the water is returned to the earth. The space is safe and secure
It is a perfect place to stay when visiting the historical sites in the valley or attending a wedding on one of the beautiful farms nearby. Brandwag is a perfect venue for very small functions or even weddings because of its beautiful setting and ample space. Feel free to roam around the property, have picnics or hike around the foothills of the Winterhoek Mountains from sunrise until sunset.
  • Perfect weekend in Brandwag! Big house & beautiful garden, will come again & spend more time

  • A true family home in the most beautiful setting! A perfect place to spend with large family groups. The home was neat and tidy with everything you need - fully self catered - both indoors and outdoors. Plenty of cycling and trail running paths for the active people and a short drive to the local vineyards and town centre. Thank you Santie for the lovely welcome and for being so helpful throughout our stay. We will be back!

  • We really loved our time at Brandwag! The house is great, you can feel that there have been many happy times shared there. Bedrooms are spotless, kitchen is huge and there is lots of room for entertainment. The views of the mountain from the outside stoep are spectacular while the garden is magical with lots of different areas to explore. We didn't want to leave!!

  • Amazing!! Highly recommend.

    Kerry2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Santie's place is in a wonderful rural location with stupendous views from the house and garden. On arrival at the house it is like stepping back in time to the 1960's. Spacious rooms, excellent bedrooms and views out over the gardens, orchards and vineyards to the mountains. You feel yourself slowing down as soon as you arrive and just enjoying the ambiance of the place. Bathrooms have been modernised and the soft spring water that supplies the house and the outdoor pool is wonderful. The house does not have wifi, but this property is for people and families that value the quiet countryside and walks into the mountains. Santie is an excellent host and you will feel at home as soon as you arrive. On any trip back to South Africa we will be looking to see if Santie's place is available for bookings. Fabulous !

The house including a separate guest cottage sleeps 10. All rooms have spacious bathrooms with rain showers. There are 3 double en-suite rooms in the main house, and a twin room with a sharing bathroom - one domicile cottage and bathroom.
Apart from the house and cottage there is also a pool and the most stunning mountain and valley views from anywhere on the farm.
  • We had a relaxing family Easter Weekend on the farm. The house is a wonderful large old farm house that has been very tastefully restored. The bedrooms are very spacious and luxurious with extra large showers. We spent a lot of time cooking up a store in the enormous gourmet kitchen. We even tried out the outside pizza oven! Peter was very hospitable and we were all made to feel at home from the very start. Even the cats and dogs welcomed us and visited us often. We will be back!

    Alistair2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the most amazing places we’ve stayed in for a while. Utterly friendly communication and interaction. Our dogs welcomed warmly. Lots of great local advice. Stunning decor and touches. Very amenity you could desire. Beautifully decorated and designed. There were “Visi” magazines everywhere and this was straight out of Visi itself- stunning chairs, Nguni throws and amazing tables and night lamps. We had a small wind problem and Peter came to the rescue within minutes of sending a text. So relaxing just listening to the birds and bees in the wild flowers each morning and the amazing sunsets. This is a GEM!

  • this is a fantastic house with beautiful gardens and views across the private lakes and into the mountains. it's only a 5 minutes drive from several good wine estates, shops and restaurants but you will be glad you stayed here rather than at one of wine estates. the house has character and is huge so great for entertaining family or friends. The housekeeper and some other house staff live on the estate and will be happy to help in any way they can.

  • Thanks for creating such a beautiful thoughtful space. It is homely, soulful and a perfect stay for families and friends. Thank you

    Dvorah2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We rented the whole property for a large group of 17. Perfect for a special occasion. A real farmhouse feel on a huge property; wonderful for walks around the lake. The house has clearly been a home for many years, with a warm and inviting feel. If you love cooking, board games, lying around reading and just generally relaxing, this property is hard to beat. Especially if you enjoy fires. Don't expect modern luxury, it is all well worn. But it is clean, warm and full of character. The staff are wonderfully helpful and fully available. Everything was done with a smile. Highly recommended as a very special place to create some good memories.

    Simon2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • 8 of us had a great time relaxing here after a busy Christmas and New Year. The house and grounds were beautiful and the perfect place to spend long afternoons eating, drinking and swimming.

    Erin2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful rusty farm house in a beautiful setting. House keeper on site was so sweet and helpful. We all really enjoyed our stay.

    Joanne2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in this character filled old farmhouse. We stayed in the main house with a large family group. It was full of history and antique furniture. It was like taking a step back in time. The house staff lived on site and were helpful and available if you needed them. they serviced the house and grounds daily. The pool was a blessing during very hot weather and we appreciated being able to host a braai at our house prior to a family wedding in the area. The house itself is a bit rickety and certain things don't work eg dishwasher but, for me it was a quirky, charming house that I wouldn't hesitate to rent again or recommend. The property appears on the Airbnb site to be in town but, this is where you collect the keys from. It is actually a short drive from town( not walking distance)

  • This is a lovely place . Very well maintained house and garden. The house is situated in the middle of the orchards. It feels really private even if the tractors and cars pass by as there is a hedge all around the garden. The splash pool is lovely. The kitchen is big and well equipped. Beds are comfortable and pillows, linen and blankets are really nice. We warmly recommend this cottage for a weekend getaway .

If you are looking for very private Bed & Breakfast or Self Catering accommodation in the Cape, about an hour and a half drive out of Cape Town, The Dreamcatcher is a wonderful retreat.
The house has 3 double bedrooms en-suite) and is available for a maximum of 6 persons. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished and are all air-conditioned. The bathrooms are spacious, modern with all the best fittings. The finer touches such as the complimentary toiletries and towels, sea shell arrangements and candles do a lot to make you feel very pampered and welcome in this house. The kitchen, lounge and dining room area is open plan - with a high, arched ceiling the area is large, light and airy, beautifully furnished but still very comfortable. For cooler evenings there is a large fireplace to keep you warm whilst you watch Television (with M-Net) or enjoy some of the fine Cape wines you've purchased from any one of the nearby Wine Estates during the day. The dining / lounge area has two sets of large double doors that lead out onto an enclosed patio with swimming pool, outdoor seating area and a braai area (barbecue). The kitchen is well equipped with oven and hob, microwave, large refrigerator and everything you would need to cater for a sit down dinner for 8 guests. The dining room table seats 8 very comfortably if you decide to dine indoors rather than enjoy the outdoor barbecue area. Dreamcatcher sleeps up to 6 people in 3 double rooms en-suite.
Tulbagh is best known for the largest concentration of National Monuments in a single street in South Africa. Every historic home in Church Street was painstakingly restored after the 1969 earthquake and these 32 buildings recreate a bygone era. It is, however, also known for fine wines. Tulbagh is located in a mountain basin ("Land van Waveren") which has been inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous Bushmen and Khoi peoples. It was discovered by European settlers in 1658 and land grants were made to 14 farming families in 1700. The town was developed in 1743 when the church was built. It was named after governor Ryk Tulbagh in 1743. It is fringed on three sides by majestic mountain ranges - the Obiqua mountains to the west, the towering Winterhoek on the northern end and the Witzenberg on the eastern side. The Great Winterhoek mountains tower 2077m above sea level and are snowcapped in winter.

  • Tulbagh is a beautiful village and it was a pleasure to stay at Jayson‘s place right in the middle of the historic Church Street. The house is a 200 year old gem that was restored after the earthquake. It is eclectically furnished and equipped, but the showpiece of the house is the lush back garden and the pool. It was so quiet except for the bird calls, you could have been in the country.

  • For old times sake, my brother (47) and I (53) took our parents (81 and 85) on a little road trip. We had a lovely first night in Jayson and Marcel’s fairytale house with its beautiful garden and pool. One night happened to be far too short, so we will definitely try and come back. My parents love art and love being surrounded by it. Jayson and Marcel’s house is full of it! Our parents are young at heart, but their legs are easily tired. So, it was great to be at walking distance of all the beauty in Church Street. Our breakfast was also incredible. Very delicious and very romantic. We loved every minute of our stay and created some very precious memories.

Nadia made sure that every little detail was perfect which was really appreciated. It's a beautiful setting with gorgeous views. The cottage is tidy and quickly makes you feel at home and relaxed. It overlooks a dam which is awesome for swimming and cooling off on a hot day. We enjoyed a hike up to one of the waterfalls (We followed the Baboon trail) and had a picnic lunch there: highly recommended! We'll definitely be coming back. Next time with some friends to share in the experience too!

We loved the solitude of the location and the swimming dam conveniently located right next to the cottage. The 4x4 trail up to the campsite and waterfall trails was so much fun in my renault duster *cant believe she made it up) And its so worth it once you get there- the views are insane. Fully functional kitchen with gas stove. Self catering facility. Private garden with a small patch of veggie and lawn. Solar water heater and solar cooker. House is geared for sustainable living. It is the village feel of the area. Everything is within walking distance. From the hairdresser to the local butcher and grocer, baker, second hand books and clothes, chemists. It is also a safe area for morning walks, runs or cycling.

The king-size bed is screened off from this side for privacy. A Romeo and Juliet balcony overlooks the dam and has stunning sunset views over the mountains. Leading off this main loft space is a second double bedroom and a spacious bathroom with a shower. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and big groups.
