Places to stay in Steyning
Beautiful new garden room with en-suite shower (no bath) and tea/coffee making facilities. Located in the stunning, picturesque village of Upper Beeding (with local supermarket & two pubs offering food/beer gardens on the River Adur) this gorgeous studio room offers a peaceful, light space to relax to the birdsong and enjoy the flowers! With outside space to enjoy your morning coffee, a really comfy sofa bed, fresh bedding and fluffy towels, what's not to enjoy! Perfect for walkers and cyclists!
I have a big, soppy dog who loves ALL humans and wants to be your friend! She will share the garden with you but will respect your privacy!
The South Downs Way is on our doorstep. You can head off in any direction and go on a stunning walk. The next town is Steyning, which is also beautiful, with lots of quaint and unique shops. On the way to Steyning is Bramber Castle for historians and picnic fans alike! We are 10 minutes drive to Shoreham if you are more of a beach person and for those who love city life, Brighton is really close too.
  • Sonja's place is nice and private in a quiet neighborhood. We were warmly welcomed by Sonja and her dog, Koko. The guest house is tiny but very new and clean - the fold-out is comfortable.

  • Robin's Retreat is a perfect spot for anyone looking for somewhere to rest their heads in the area. It's 20 mins from Hove and right in the middle of the South Downs path - so works for all. The retreat is a great space, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and the little extras such as the table and chair's outside to enjoy your croissants in the morning sun made my stay even better! Sonja was the perfect host and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her retreat to others. Thanks Sonja, hope to see you again.

  • This is my second time staying at Robins Retreat and it definitely won’t be my last. I was so impressed by Sonja’s hospitality that I returned just a month later and I was greeted by the same amazing experience. Sonja always makes sure your stay is as comfortable as possible and the breakfast in the morning is a lovely touch :)

My place is close to the high street of steyning which is a quaint and historical town located on the edge of the south downs national park. It has an array of quirky independant shops catering for all tastes , it is on a direct link to Brighton and the coats as well as walking distance to the south downs. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends ( pets ) .
Mill Cottage is a characterful and cosy 1 bed cottage , all beams , low ceilings , low doorways and period features but with the luxury of all the mod cons located down a hidden Twitten in the heart of the Steyning conservation area and within a stones throw of the high street with all the amenities. The cottage itself is mixture of old and new - the building is old but the amenities are new with gas fired central heating , undefloor heating in the bathroom and an electric wood burner in the lounge to keep the chill off on those cool summer or long winter evenings......
The cottage is located in the conservation area of Steyning and within 5 minutes walk to the high street and direct access onto the South Downs .
  • The kind of cottage you dream about when imagining a new life in the country.

  • A true escape from the rat race almost a step back in time but with fantastic modern facilities. Perfect location. Beautiful walks and a pub with great grub at the end of the road. Fell in love with the stable door, had my morning cuppa looking at the fresh morning. Can not wait to go again

Bright, airy with a very relaxing atmosphere. It has a double bed and a single bed suitable for three people.Steyning is a small village near Brighton and Worthing, excellent place for people that love walking and great scenery plus the vibrancy of Brighton. I have two small, old and friendly dogs living with me called Pongo and Samba.
  • Had a lovely one night stay in Trini’s beautiful home. She was there to greet us as soon as we arrived! Our room was ideal with two beds and close to the town as we were visiting for a wedding nearby. Trini’s dogs were also very sweet and well behaved. The bathroom & shower room were clean, as was the bedroom. The next morning we were greeted with a lovely spread for breakfast - all sorts of cereals, toast, fresh fruit and pastries, all of which we did not expect - and much needed after a wedding reception the night before! Even though we arrived late back in the night Trini did not mind and was very welcoming. Overall a very pleasant stay for one night in Trini’s eclectic and uniquely decorated home, a wonderful host & would thoroughly recommend to anyone needing to stay in the area.

    Emily 2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Trinidad was very accommodating even though we arrived late from a wedding. Good night's sleep and a welcome breakfast, would stay again without issue.

  • Trini is an amazing host and was extremely friendly and accommodating for our 1 night stay. She walked us to the nearby town and made sure we found our way and gave great suggestions on the surrounding area. She prepared a charming breakfast for us in the morning and showed great care to make sure we were taken care of. Definitely recommend staying with her if you are in the Steyning/Brighton area!

    Catherine2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay at Triny's place. She was very nice and gave us a lot of tips of things we could do and see around. She has two very nice dogs who sometimes bark and yelp, but thats okay. She is very friendly, obliging and welcoming and gave her best to give us a comfortable stay. Her home is sweet and cozy and we would definitely recommed it and come back! Thank you very much! :)

A beautiful family home on a quiet residential road just a few minutes walk from the heart of the village with views of the South Downs. You will have use of a large clean kingsized bedroom with an en-suite shower bathroom, separated by a lockable lobby area giving privacy and quiet. There is a further annexed internal bedroom with a large double futon sofa bed which can be used to house two further guests with Jack and Jill access to the en-suite, but this will remain empty if not needed.
There is a very large lounge for your private use in the main part of the house plus shared use of a well equipped kitchen and garden. We have ample room for cars on our private driveway and you may use washing machine and dryer for a small fee.

Our 19th century house was originally a church hall and in the 90s was converted and split in 2 houses, the exterior is a Grade II listed building. Our place is in Steyning, a beautiful village set next to the South Downs National Park. It's recommended for couples and families discovering the south of England. Also nature lovers following the South Downs trail. Or business travellers due to good connections by road to large cities like Brighton, Chichester and Horsham
Our house is distinctive due to the different size windows originally designed for a church hall space and the house renovation created rooms taking in consideration those windows. The ground floor has a large open plan kitchen-dinner with access to a patio area with table and chairs, the space is heightened by high ceilings as a reminder of the original church hall and also large window allowing plenty of light throughout the day. On the same floor there is a shower room, spacious living room with modern designer sofas and there is also a laundry room. The first floor has 2 bedrooms, one room in the back of the house has a super king size bed with views to the downs and the front bedroom has a king size bed frame by a large window facing the street; also this room has a mezzanine space with a desk and library. On the same floor there is a modern large bathroom with a ceiling window with a bath tub and monsoon shower. This is our main house and although working abroad we visit family and friends on a regular basis and you should be aware that you may find personal items around the house, like books and traveling objects from out trips on the shelving units, some packaged food in kitchen drawers, non-perishing food like oil, vinegar, salt, etc or personal toiletries.
I live in a very peaceful and quiet place with a lively high street scene.

Steps lead from the patio doors in the sitting room into a small vegetable garden, growing mainly salad crops and herbs, which is intended mainly for use by Garden Cottage guests.
The Garden Cottage is on a private drive of only four houses, off a quiet lane, but still only a short walk from the centre of Steyning, with all its shops and amenities. Guests enter the Cottage via a lockable door from a shared entrance lobby. There are two steps into the lobby from the driveway, and three more down into the Cottage.
Steyning is a pretty historic town with a population of about 6,000 residents, at the foot of the beautiful South Downs. The popular South Downs Way is close by, as is Monarch's Way, and other well-known footpaths and bridleways. Steyning has plenty of interesting and quirky shops, galleries and a museum, as well as several excellent cafes and some good traditional pubs. St Andrew's Church, part of which dates back to Saxon times, is also well worth a visit. Steyning Leisure Centre with its 25m swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and other sports facilities, is just a short walk from the Garden Cottage. There are wonderful views from the top of the South Downs, and plenty of off-road routes directly from Steyning, whether walking or cycling. Less energetic guests can drive to the top of the Downs and park there, to enjoy the views as well as a less challenging stroll.
  • A beautiful, well equipped, immaculate and lovely place to stay. Jane and Gary are indeed ‘super hosts’(!) who couldn’t have been more helpful. Brilliant location for exploring Steyning and the Downs.

Gary and Jane are warm and friendly hosts, and their location is in a quiet spot within walking distance of the local eateries. The fresh eggs, homemade jam , bread and milk supplied for breakfast are a wonderful touch and the well equipped kitchen mean you can make good use of them Great place to stay for a few days

  • It was great! Jane and Gerry welcomed us like friends. We arrived 4 days before, parked the car there to drive to friends to London. Gerry even drove us to the train station and picked us up there again. The apartment is very well equipped and sophisticated. We appreciate the absolute peace there and could sleep with the windows open. We were able to use the garage to park high quality e-bikes. Thank you Jane & Gerry, we will definitely be back! • Jane and Gary are lovely people with a gorgeous house. Very hospitable and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in their clean and comfortable house. They also kindly provided eggs from their hens and fresh bread and teas which came in handy. Location was perfect for the event we attended and it was nice to come back to nice comfortable and clean place after being out all day for an event. We will book another stay for our next event.

  • We had a wonderful stay. Jane & Gary are great, so friendly and helpful. Felt so at home being able to enjoy the lovely garden. The accommodation is so comfortable and has everything you need. We highly recommend this place to stay.

  • We highly recommend this accommodation because it is a 5 star service that awaits you! Quality of accommodation, garden, environment and location for visits to Brighton (possible by car but I recommend the train because it is very well served). Ditto for London .... but Jane and Gary will explain all that ... because they are very attentive and friendly hosts.

Steyning is a town but with the village atmosphere . I am a friendly landlady and available to help when needed. Pretty cottage converted from a dairy on a farm on the outskirts of picturesque Steyning town. Self contained and well equipped with underfloor heating. Direct access to the South Downs National Park and local footpaths. Easy walking distance from local shops, parks, pubs and restaurants.
The cottage is one of a pair of attached cottages converted from an old dairy. The cottage is single story and has wheelchair access
Steyning is a picturesque traditional market town. It is unique in that there are no chain cafes and a fabulous range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
  • A gorgeous semi detached cottage in Steyning. Super clean with a huge bed, amazing shower and fully equipped kitchen. Semi rural location but still an easy walk to village. We had a lovely relaxing time with our dog to bring in the new year - thanks so much!

  • Beautiful location with views of the woodland and downs from the windows. Steyning is a great place to visit with excellent cafes and shops. A unique clapboard cabin, very spacious (36 m square) plus sleeping loft, properly insulated, running off grid (solar panels). There is enough power to run a fridge, microwave, or anything up to 5 amps, but there is no WiFi or TV, ideal for people who prefer to spend tranquil time in our beautiful Sussex countryside. The cabin is situated in is own gardens with parking, 200m from any other dwelling down a private farm drive.
Fully functioning shower room and fridge and hot water system, however a kettle has to be put on gas stove for tea and of course no electric irons, toasters or hair dryers
Unfortunately the location map is slightly out of kilter. The cabin is 2 miles from Steyning with its charming medieval buildings, pubs, restaurants and shops and 2 miles from Ashurst with its 16th century quintessential country pub.
  • This is a great place to stay if you want to have some time and peace to get away from the world. Beautiful location, lovely space, so quiet! Just what is needed to recharge your batteries.

  • John's place is sparkling clean and hospitality was top notch. Unfortunately something tripped the lighting in the living room area when we first arrived but thankfully John came in the morning (without me telling him to) to check up on us to make sure that everything was good and fixed it immediately. The place is very beautiful and a great spot for stargazing at night. 10/10 would book again if I ever visit South Downs in the future.

Shepherds Cottage has wonderful downland views and is in the heart of historic Steyning with direct access to the South Downs. It is a cottage full of charm retaining many original features together with a tight steep staircase common with a cottage of this size. The kitchen is equipped with an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. This then leads to the wonderfully light conservatory with a dining area overlooking the charming garden. As a working cottage it would formally have had two bedrooms and most likely toilet facilities outside! Today that happily is no longer the case; the second bedroom has been converted to provide a spacious bathroom space with a rolltop bath, which just adds to making Shepherds Cottage feel such an ideal retreat just perfect for two. The garden has its own access to the playing fields behind, giving you green fields right to the Downs, while from the front you are immediately into the town being just a few yards from the High Street with the individual shops, pubs, restaurants and tearooms that Steyning has to offer. ** Please note that the fireplace in the cottage is not working **
  • Would highly recommend this lovely cottage set in a superb location.

Sarah has a beautiful home and her extra touches (cake with tea/coffee) go a long way to leaving a long lasting impression on us. She is extremely organised and we would love to think we will be able to stay with her again in the future. I cannot praise Sarah and her accommodation high enough.

Our beautiful period property is tucked away within a working farm on the edge of Steyning. From the property there are 360 degree views of the South Downs and direct access to The Downslink bridleway and cycle track. Lovingly renovated over the last 6 years, the house offers a perfect retreat in the countryside, only 15mins from the coast and 20mins from Brighton. Steyning is within walking distance across the fields or a short 5min drive. Accommodation is flexible according to your needs.
The property is a large house with an abundance of period features, two open fireplaces and fully renovated to a high standard. The house sits within a quarter of an acre with many features to entertain young or old. There are stunning views over the Southdowns with incredible sunsets. Tree swings, a climbing frame, a sunken trampoline, play tunnel and an outdoor swimming pool (open May-September). You can feed our chickens, collect the eggs and depending on the season, even pick your own vegetables/flowers. Charcoal BBQ’s available to use. The house is fully connected to Wi-Fi and Sky TV.
The historic town of Steyning is a five minute drive away with many independent shops, cafes and pubs. All your needs can be catered for within Steyning. There’s also a large Tesco, M&S and Next within 15mins drive at The Holmbush centre. The property sits on The Downslink which is a recognised cycle route following the Old railway line from Guildford to Shoreham-by-Sea. This is perfect for walking, mountain biking or running. The property also has a specifically designed mud room, with wet room downstairs for those who like to get really mucky! The Southdowns Way is easily accessed within a 30min walk from the property, which directly faces Chanctonbury Ring, a notable landmark along the way. The beachside towns of Lancing and Shoreham-by-Sea, popular with sailors, kite surfers and kayakers are only 10-15 mins drive away. The larger city of Brighton and Hove is a 20min drive away. Places to eat: Steyning has a number of lovely cafes with great selections of eats. For evenings we have a number of pubs, The White Horse brasserie for a more formal meal, Mama Mia Italian restaurant and The Sussex Produce Company who serve delicious meals throughout the day and evening. ‘Chris the fish’ also offers Fish and chips on certain nights. In nearby Bramber, The Maharajah curry house is fantastic and also offer take away (which you’ll have to pick up). Bramber also has a good Chinese restaurant and The Old Tollgate Hotel who do a killer Carvery on a Sunday! In the other direction, Storrington has a very good Thai restaurant called 13. For a very special meal, just north of Cowfold (20mins drive) we have South Lodge who offer beautiful afternoon tea, have a lovely restaurant and within the Lodge have Michelin starred restaurant The Pass.
  • We had a lovely time staying at Shona’s place, spacious and homely for all of us. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Excellent place for a group stay - beautiful home on spectacular grounds

    Aideen2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house and grounds are truly idyllic, completed by rustic decor to match - all very inviting and perfect for our autumn retreat. What has driven me to leave this review however were Shona's clear efforts to make our stay (with an array of very small children) as stress free as possible! She was very attentive prior to our arrival to provide travel cot etc for little ones, accommodating at check in and left us some lovely local delights on arrival. At many places I've stayed we've had to remember to bring (or more commonly pop out to buy) a variety of essentials like toilet paper, washing up liquid, condiments etc but Shona has this covered to avoid any of this faffing about so we could just get on and enjoy ourselves. It sounds simple but I really appreciated this. She also has a vast collection of toys, books and outdoor paraphernalia that kept the kids well entertained. Lastly, the check out time is a comfortable 1pm so no mad rush trying to pack, eat and clean whilst juggling with the kids. A real pleasure, we hope to come back again!

    Terry2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gem and rare find on the outskirts of London. Shona was a great host, had very thoughtful touches and was very communicative when I had questions about the house as well as the information on the location and local amenities. Shona's home is very spacious, homey and has got a cosy country side feel. Would highly recommend

    Monica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful farmhouse full of character and love, thoroughly enjoyed by all members of our party; grandparents, parents, young couple, children (6, 4, 3.5 and 3 years old) and a 4 month old baby. The garden is a wonderful place for children to explore and let their imaginations run wild. The children did not want to leave! Equally indoors is well stocked with books, games and toys to keep everyone entertained - the TV was turned on only once for an afternoon film - and more at the request of the adults! Shona and family were very accomodating, hospitable and easy to communicate with, despite the Australian time difference. Thank you for a truly memorable stay. I do believe we may be back again for future holidays.

    S&Amp;S2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Shona’s place was absolutely perfect for our weekend with 10 of us. The house and grounds are even more beautiful than the pictures. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The house has been lovingly renovated with modern fittings whilst keeping the old features. Shona and family were on hand next door for anything we needed and were so welcoming, little touches - like the fire pit already made up for us to get straight to roasting marshmallows, made it extra special. We made full use of the extensive grounds and pool to host a mini sports day, which it was perfect for! Justin the peacock waiting at the window to be fed each morning added to the entertainment too! It was the perfect place to spend our bank holiday weekend! Thank you Shona for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous home!

    Lucy2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely magical place! My family and I stayed here for a week for my wedding. Shona is a fantastic host, so many lovely personal touches made us all feel instantly relaxed when we arrived. The house is perfect - lots of homely but super stylish decor. The location is dreamy - incredible views, peace and serenity and a peacock and super friendly dog to boot. We all loved it, and felt sad to leave. Thank you to Shona and her family for sharing such a lovely home.

    Charlotte2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This house is absolutely perfect and Shona is the best host anyone could ask for - quick responses, thoughtful touches and really useful advice and help! We booked the house as somewhere to stay for our wedding and couldn’t recommend it enough. Justin the peacock is a particular highlight!

A charming 500 hundred year old listed cottage, situated on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Our cottage is a stones throw from both the scenic downs and our lovely high street. No.1 Workhouse Cottage is part of a 15th Century medieval timber framed building on Mouse Lane. It once served as the parish Workhouse. This quirky cottage is just the place to come for a couple of days or longer, with family or friends, not forgetting your four legged friend too!
There are a couple of steps upto the front door, which leads into a cosy lounge with a log burner for those chillier evenings. To your left, you will find a well equipped kitchen with table and chairs. Out from the lounge there are stairs to the bedrooms, bathroom and a back door leading to the patio and enclosed garden. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms both with King beds. Shared bathroom with shower, separate W.C. • A lovely stay in Steyning, Geoff and Sally couldn't have been more accommodating of our last-minute booking! Thank you so much!

    Holly2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Geoff and Sally are so kind and welcoming. We arrived and found the cottage easily. We were able to let ourselves in and Geoff and Sally come over to introduce themselves later. They gave us some great tips about the pubs in Steyning and the pack they’d left had some fantastic walking guides in. The beds are so comfy and the bathroom is gorgeous. The kitchen is well equipped and we found everything we needed for our stay. Leaving the log burner set for our arrival was a lovely touch and we enjoyed it both evenings of our stay. The breakfast that was left was also enjoyed. We had a wonderful time in Steyning and would highly recommend the cottage.

  • Sally and Geoff were absolutely wonderful hosts. Our booking included two couples, a baby, and a small dog. We booked less than a week out of staying at Sally and Geoff’s beautiful cottage and they were both very accommodating including providing a small wash bowl to wash the dog in after our long walks. We thoroughly enjoyed the bakery bread, butter, jams, milk and eggs they left for us. The first night was too warm to make use of the wood burning stove (thanks to some unseasonably warm February sunshine), but the second night we enjoyed some cheese and wine in the comfort of the cosy front room fire. Thanks to some walking pamphlets Sally and Geoff left for us, we went up to Chanctonbury Ring on Saturday in the midst of some heavy fog, then again Sunday in the gorgeous sunshine. To top off a lovely weekend, Sally and Geoff kindly messaged us Saturday afternoon and said we could have a late check-out due to no one checking in on the Sunday. This was the icing on the cake! Meant we were able to enjoy the Sunday sunshine to its full extent by going for another walk and having a nice cup of tea before our departure. I am now finding myself googling the history of the Old Workhouse in Steyning ; ) Thank you from all four of us (plus the baby and the dog)!

    Ellen2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a fab home! Beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and a really quirky medieval building. Super comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen and bathroom. One minute walk from a local pub and only a few steps more to the heart of Steyning. Sally and Geoff were great hosts and very quick to respond: looking forward to visiting again.

    Simon2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • You’re looking at something special here. It’s beautiful, of course – far beyond what photos convey – yet so much more. It’s welcoming, relaxing, characterful and cosy. It’s homely without feeling like someone else’s home. There are interesting details everywhere – we particularly loved the beach paintings – and all you need for a luxurious, pampering time away, including a living room with an excellent wood stove, a well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds and a fab bathroom (with a shower that my teen daughter called the best she’s experienced). Within five minutes of arriving, I felt I’d been there for half a day. I left our three night-stay as relaxed as if I’d had a week away. The location is excellent. Steyning is a picturesque town that rewards a gentle stroll. Rollling countryside walks in the South Downs are just up the road and the south coast is a 15min drive away and Brighton 30min. Parking, if you like that sort of thing, is plentiful near the cottage. Geoff and Sally are excellent hosts who gave us a warm welcome and the safety net of being nearby should we need them but otherwise just left us to enjoy ourselves. They accommodated a few requests willingly and went above and beyond a couple of times. I don’t often hand out five-star verdicts but this exquisite cottage and the hosting of Geoff and Sally deserve nothing less. A first-class experience in every respect that I'd be delighted to repeat and recommend to others without reservation. Although, obviously, do make a reservation.

A stylish detached family home with large garden in the beautiful historic Sussex town of Steyning, in the South Downs National Park. We're in a quiet neighbourhood with easy access to the town, river walks, cycle trail, hills and sea. Vibrant, cosmopolitan Brighton is just 30 minutes away.
Our comfortable family home has been recently refurbished inside, and while still a little down at heel externally, there is good outdoor space, with plenty of room for children to play. There is room for parking off-street for one car.
Steyning is a quintessential old Sussex town, with many beautiful Tudor buildings. The town has four pubs, tea rooms and restaurants, and a small supermarket. Our house is 15 minutes walk from the centre of town and 10 minutes from a peaceful river walk leading to the ruins of the 11th Century Bramber Castle. There are great facilities in the town including a swimming pool, gym, squash courts, tennis courts, a large playing field where cricket is played, and two good children's playgrounds.
  • Very warm and welcoming! The house was just right for two grownups and three kids - very comfortable and well-stocked for everything we needed. A great experience all around.

An oak-beamed Sussex barn, converted into a beautifully warm, bright and clean guest annexe. Set in the Sussex countryside, far away from any traffic in a small rural enclave in the South Downs National Park, close to the village of Henfield, 8 miles from Brighton, 12 from Horsham. Separate entrance and parking from main house. Kingsize bed, sofa bed, large desk and chair, farmhouse kitchen table, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave with grill. Bathroom with showe. Underfloor heating. Wifi. TV.
Private dedicated parking space. Our garden is private but guests are free to use our field to picnic, or sit around an open fire and take in the views, or the night sky. We can provide wood for the fire on request. This is an idyllic spot. Sometimes the field has sheep grazing, with hundreds of lambs in the spring. There is very little traffic but you may hear owls hooting at night if you open the windows. We are surrounded by wildlife including deer, badgers, foxes and local farms with cows and sheep. It is very dark at night round here, there are no street lights so it's perfect for stargazing.
We live in a tranquil enclave within the South Downs National Park. Guests have access to a private field with picnic bench and firepit, with the most stunning views of the South Downs towards Chanctonbury Ring, Devils Dyke and Truleigh Hill. We are adjacent to Woods Mill, a wildlife reserve managed by Sussex Wildlife Trust. You can walk to various pubs in villages close to us but you'll need to use footpaths and bridleways and we recommend wellington/walking boots.

A quality end of terrace cottage: Unusually light and bright, with a second bedroom, a separate well equipped kitchen and a beautiful garden where you can sit and relax. In a perfect location, just minutes from independently run shops, pubs and cafes. A stone's throw from open countryside and footpaths which lead into the South Downs National Park. Ideal for couples, 2 singles or families with one child.
This cosy cottage, built in the 1860's, is beautifully decorated and furnished. Enjoy the bright, light living room with its comfortable seating. You'll find a flat screen TV, Blu Ray/DVD/CD player, board games and plenty of books on the local area. Make the most of the kitchen: It has all you could need with a small dining table, an oven, 4 ring gas hob, dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer, microwave and toaster! The cottage also has a washing machine and tumbler drier. Appreciate the colour scheme and furnishings in the main bedroom, which make it especially relaxing. There is a tiny original Victorian fireplace and lovely hand painted cabinets. The second bedroom has a single bed, with generous storage. If you visit in winter, you will find that the cottage is exceedingly warm and snug. The garden is a delight all year round - with lovely flowering climbers and perennials. There are benches in the back garden where you can sit and listen to the bubbling mill stream.
Steyning is waiting to be discovered by tourists with many buildings of historic or architectural interest, a great local museum - open all year - and a Norman church. is a picturesque historic village. Welcome to our beautiful retreat in the heart of Rural Sussex. This lovely self contained and fully equipped annexe is part of an 18th century barn conversion. Tucked away at the end of a private lane in the hamlet of Small Dole with uninterrupted views across the South Downs National Park, it's a perfect base for exploring the area. We're 30 minutes from Gatwick (parking and transport can be arranged) and Brighton, historic Arundel and glorious Goodwood are all within easy driving distance.
A tastefully decorated small, self contained annexe, part of a historic converted barn that was once a working farm. The annexe has a large, well appointed bathroom with a walk in shower and washing machine. The bedroom has a double bed and a pull out single and two double wardrobes. There’s also space for a travel cot. The main living room has a large single/small double sofa bed, which can be made up for you if you will be arriving late. Along with a drop leaf table and chairs, the living space has a kitchenette with everything you need for your break - a microwave, small oven, fridge, hob, kettle, toaster, cafetière and plenty of crockery and cutlery.
  • Lovely little space with a gorgeous view. So peaceful, really enjoyed our stay.

    Rob2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the annexe, Elise was fantastic with her communication and went the extra mile by providing us with essentials we didn’t expect. She even left the kids some marshmallows to warm over the fire!

    Claire2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Elise’s property is a cosy little place in a beautiful, quiet and secluded location. It was a cold February weekend but the annexe was comfortably warm. We stayed there with our two young grandchildren and there was plenty of space. The shower is lovely. The hosts are super friendly and helpful

  • Lovely, simple, clean space. Perfect for an overnight or a few days away. Great views and although we visited in miserable weather, I can imagine an evening outside by the chimnea. Check-in and out is super easy and the directions take you straight to the place. All round top AirBnBer!

  • We stayed here for couple of nights as we had a wedding caterer tasting session at a place nearby. The place is easy to find and in a great location. The accommodation itself is lovely. Has everything you need for a short stay. I must say the shower is to die for! Simply amazing after a long walk on the South Downs! The outdoor area is great for a late night fire with a glass of wine. Would definitely stay here again.

  • A wonderful relaxing getaway in a rural location, this suited our needs perfectly as we wanted to be near to the coast but have a cottage location. Jed greeted as warmly on arrival and provided a lovely welcome of cake and bottle of wine, he was also happy to recommend places to visit in the area and offered to book a restaurant for us in the evening. The cottage is beautifully decorated and felt like a home away from home. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a quiet getaway.

  • A very comfortable, stylish cottage with all you need for a great stay. The kitchen is well equipped to cook a full meal if you should so wish. Well positioned in a quiet location with easy access to lots of walks from the cottage or a short drive away. Jed and Vanessa are very friendly hosts, more than ready to give helpful tips on the local area but in no way intrusive. The welcoming bottle of wine, lemon drizzle cake and fresh milk are a lovely touch. We fully recommend Chactonbury cottage and will definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

  • A lovely place to stay. Located with the countryside and the beach all within easy reach. Daffodil Coattage was perfect for our 2 teenagers who appreciated the Sky TV, big TV and fast Wi-Fi. The cottage has a lovely outside space to enjoy and big bi-fold doors which means you can sit inside but still feel like you have loads of space. Would definitley recommend a stay here.

  • Beautiful cottage, we only used it as a base for an event we were attended. But I would be happy to stay longer another time. The house is comfortable and beautiful kept. We hope to return again.

  • Stayed here due to attending a wedding nearby and it had everything we needed. Paul and his wife were excellent at communicating with us throughout and would definitely recommend.

Quiet, sunny apartment. Central location in historic village of Steyning. Sussex Downs National Park, pubs, restaurants, cream teas, good shops - all within a few minutes walk. A perfect place for a mini break!
A large, converted Victorian house, is now 3 apartments, just down the road from the church and near the park. A sunny sitting room, separate, well equipped kitchen, one bedroom with new king size mattress. Once through my front door there are stairs leading up to the apartment. The home is on 2 floors, with the sitting room, kitchen and bathroom on one floor and the bedroom upstairs.
Steyning, a saxon town, is one the the prettiest in West Sussex. With its fine high street, historic buildings, good shops and lovely countryside nearby, it makes a popular destination for a short break. Hiking: The Steyning Bowl is a wonderfully sinuous hillside overlooking the town. The Chanctonbury Ring is a prehistoric hill fort atop Chanctonbury Hill on the South Downs. Devil's Dyke is a 100m deep V-shaped valley on the South Downs Way in southern England, near Brighton and Hove. Devil's Dyke was a major local tourist attraction in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Beach: The nearest beach is Shoreham-by-sea (20 mins).
  • Great flat in amazing location. Debbie is the perfect host. We’d looking forward to staying again!

  • Debbies place is a great place to stay in the beautiful Sussex countryside. Check in was easy and the house was very homely and felt very welcome. The little message for us on the board really made us smile :) would definitely recommend.

  • A great space. Lovely rooms. Lots of thoughtful touches. A real hone from hone. Debbie is a fab host. Thoroughly recommended.

  • It was great to stay at Debbies apartment and was just like the photos. A pretty 5 min walk to the local high street and would recommend popping into Truffles Bakery. The apartment was very cosy and it was nice to have the little touches of a message on the chalk board in the kitchen and breakfast for the morning. The amenities in the kitchen were great if you wanted to prepare any lunches/dinners if you plan to stay longer than a weekend. Also loved the stylish decor throughout the apartment-very chic! We caught the local bus (No 2) to Shoreham-by-Sea which was perfect especially with the lovely weather we had and only took 20 minutes to get there. Other local places which we drove to were Cissbury Ring and Arundel which are well worth the visit. Thanks Debbie for a lovely stay and if we visit the area again we will book with you.

  • Amazing host, cosy apartment in a quiet neighbourhood.

  • We so loved our stay at Debbie’s house! She was so friendly and had left a welcome note for us in the kitchen along with some edibles. The location is great and the flat is super cute. It felt like a true home away from home!

  • Great place right in the city center of steyning. Walking distance to the grocery store, pubs and restaurants. We came and went late at night and early morning so we did not get to meet debbie in person, but she was more than helpful with everything we needed by text and phone. Really cosy and stylish flat!

  • Both the property and location were excellent, Debbie was a great host and provided all that was required to ensure my stay was both pleasant and trouble free, the parking in the area was easy and just a short stroll into the village centre were there are plenty to explore.
