Places to stay in Steyning
A unique, quirky vessel, the carapace comprises an upturned lifeboat hull mounting the back of a Dodge fire engine. The main bed, a boat within a boat within a boat. Moored on estuarine mudflats opposite Shoreham town and RSPBs' smallest reserve. There is an optional fifth bed.
The Houseboat Dodge is accessed over the roof of the Clive, a former WW2 Motor Torpedo Boat undergoing conversion to become substantive workshop facility and offers seating and BBQ area on it's rear deck. The accommodation comprises two double beds and a bench viewing seat in the front bedroom that may be converted to a single bed. Entrance is into the main cabin, the bed when not in use is easily chain winched into the roof space underneath is the dining area and forward of that, general seating and stove. Galley kitchen with L:PG cooker, fridge and usual facilities. Bath, shower and loo to port and bedroom forward. Instant hot water from LPG boiler. Main heating is by fan assisted storage heater. There is now outside seating accessed through the front bedroom, lovely for sunny breakfasts! My building style incorporates a substantive amount of reused materials and the Dodge boasts remnants of four redundant boats and a fire engine carcus from which it derives it's name. There are many interesting items to find incorporated in the Dodge and there is a quiz sheet to find them all. There are lovely nooks and crannies some of which are a little tricky to dust. This is a bohemian space for like minded people. We use eco friendly, non-bleach based cleaning and washing products.
The Dodge is one of some 50 houseboats on the south bank of the River Adur. The moorings are on tidal mudflats and during spring tides we are inundated twice daily whilst on the neap cycle, we often get no tidal influx. An eclectic mix of boats, many of historic interest and as pleasant a bunch of neighbours as I could wish for. A thriving Farmers Market on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and a fortnightly massive car boot fair in the warmer months about 5 minute walk. The Ropetaclke Arts centre is within sight of our houseboats and boasts a variety of good quality entertainment. Excellent fish restaurant on Shoreham Beach. (8 mins)
  • What a wonderful place, we really loved our stay.

  • A great stay on Hamish's eclectic 'houseboat'. It was toasty warm (and we stayed in February!), full of interesting memorabilia (I spotted something different every day!) An incredible 'mash' that makes a really great fun place to stay.

  • A very quirky, fun place to stay. Perfect for youngsters. Beds comfy, lots of hot water, warm, simply a great place for a short stay. A children’s playground and the beach less than 5 mins away. Would stay again.

  • A boat within a boat within a boat - what an awesomely original, eclectic and creative space! Hamish is a very warm and friendly host, he very kindly and promptly sent a forgotten item that I left. My partner and I can’t wait to stay here again. Cheers Hamish :)

  • Gorgeous houseboat, with so much space and lots to look that. The most interesting house I've ever stayed in. It was so warm when we got there, and fully stocked up with fire wood and bits in the kitchen. Nearby walks, and loads of pubs in town. Had a lovely evening here listening to the records that Hamish has in the boat, and reading about how the house boat was built.

    Emily2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • of you like a creative design a brilliant houseboat full of creative ideas - thats your boat to stay

    Frank2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a magic holiday! We absolutely fell in love with Hamish’s place. He was a fantastic host and an extremely modest artist. The craftsmanship & creativity are beyond belief! Our kids loved sleeping in both a boat & a fire engine! We explored Shoreham by Sea on bike, went to the scooter park in Lancing & tried fishing off the harbour as well as a early evening pub crawl! Hamish’s place was cosy, welcoming and a great way to start 2020. Many thanks Hamish. We would love to be back again soon.

Scandi beach house is an amazing property, beach on the door step, countryside walks and South downs a stones throw away. The property is available for well behaved and sensible guests. It is a property to gather round the kitchen or dining table for civilised days/evening over good food. This is not a party property as is in a lovely residential area and we care highly about our neighbours privacy. It has an Inbuilt sound system state of the art kitchen and sky TV on a 55’’ screen.
The house has featured in Grand designs magazine, it is spacious and delightful to be in.
It is a residential neighbourhood, the property is situated on the beach road which is quiet and a 30second walk to the pebbles.
  • Lovely large house that’s ideal for groups and families.

    John-Paul2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great family home, perfect for long dog walks on the beach. House was perfect for a short family break. Well equipped and everything worked perfectly. Would definitely return with friends as more than big enough for 2 families

  • A great place to entertain a group of friends for a birthday. Enough cooking space and equipment to handle ten people for dinner. Jon was very helpful over the phone and the place was as described. I think you'd struggle to have a bad time here!

  • Visited with a team for a working trip. The house worked perfectly and allowed us to be really productive as well as relax in a stylish space.

    Joshua2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing modern house, spotlessly clean and with all you need for a warm and comfortable stay on Shoreham beach. We especially loved the open plan ground floor with plenty of space for cooking, eating and relaxing together. Lovely walks, good local amenities and easy access to Brighton or the Downs. A great spot for a large gathering.

    Angie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a spacious, light and airy house, with ample space for 16 of us. Unusually many of the bedrooms have a bunk bed too, giving plenty of separate beds, but still with a house feel. Amenities were also ample for our large number, and the kitchen and lounge space worked really well. The hosts were very attentive to any messages, and welcomed us personally soon after checkin. We will definitely book this place again.

    Peter2019-11-29T00:00:00Z

  • Wow! What a gem! Glorious setting, quirky ,tastefully designed and decorated and convenient to walk into town . Thoughtful touches such as binoculars to see the wading birds up close and a book to identify them! Reading books and radio. Bed was like sleeping in a marshmallow!! The decking extends the living space and is a relaxing place to enjoy fresh coffee (supplied by Lucy and Tom) and for me to get my sketch book out! I now have place envy and I will be back in a heart beat!! Thanks everso

    Jane2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The raft is a beautiful place to stay. We spent a weekend here and could have stayed longer; the bed is so comfortable and the space very quirky and stylish. Lucy was available every step of the way and was very helpful. We did some good cycling in the area and enjoyed the beach, pubs and cafes. Definitely recommend!

    Bridget2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I just had a fantastic weekend stay here on the Raft. The place is especially well thought out with plenty of character. Whilst the property is small, it makes the most of the space and was very clean and well provisioned.

  • Lovely place to hide away and relax. Nicola is a brilliant host, very quick to respond to any messages or questions.

    Adrienne2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely romantic weekend away here couldn’t have found somewhere more peaceful and beautiful thank you! X :)

    Caron2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Wisp was a rustic, private, eclectic hide away. The wonderful hosts are close by but The Wisp is secluded and quiet. The internet connection, is quite slow but it did not bother us. We wanted something a little different for our Anniversary and this was perfect. Thank you to Nicola for all of the little touches.

    Catherine2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely relaxing stay, made even better thanks to Nicola's helpful and bespoke local tips. Great walks in the immediate area.

  • What a beautiful place to stay at! Me & my boyfriend stayed here over the Valentine’s weekend and it was such a lovely getaway. The bolthole itself was clean, cosy, romantic and a good environment to just relax in! Nicola left some chocolates and brownies for us which were finished in seconds, very delicious! And thank you to Nicola for being an incredible host! Would love to stay again☺️

    Megan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at The Wisp. The barn was warm and cosy and had such lovely interior design. It had everything we needed for cooking and eating and extras such as local information, directions to the pub and tasty homemade brownies! Nicola was a fantastic host, available if we needed her but otherwise left us to enjoy our stay. She even checked in to see if we were okay in the wind of Storm Ciara! The day before the storm was sunny, so we took the opportunity to walk to The Fountain pub. A fun and muddy trek and the pub is lovely and worth a visit! Overall, a wonderful weekend! Thanks, Lois and Craig.

Recently renovated stable to accommodate two guest looking for a quiet space over looking a beautiful shared garden and views of the South Downs. Consisting of a cosy lounge and wet room to the ground floor and a double bed and storage on the mezzanine floor. Beautifully decorated with underfloor heating, oak beams and flooring ensure a cosy and relaxing stay. Internet enabled tv and WiFi is available if you need to keep in touch or take in the varied woodland walks that surround if not!
Covid 19. We are not longer using outside cleaners, we are doing it all ourselves using gloves to minimise contact. All surfaces are sprayed with disinfectant between each bookings and all towels and linens washed thoroughly. Escape it all in the country. The Stable is situated just outside of Hurstpierpoint Village at the bottom of Wolstonbury Hill. This is an ideal place for keen walkers or if you just want to surround yourself with wildlife. Wolstonbury Hill has been an important landmark for thousands of years. Iron Age farmers grazed animals on its summit and the Romans left pottery remains on its slopes. In wartime Britain Winston Churchill and members of the war cabinet met at nearby Danny House and would allegedly visit the slopes of Wolstonbury for inspiration.
Set in a secluded part of the south downs you are surrounded by nature and the elements. There are more animals than people! There are two neighbouring cottages and a barn, other than that its fields and woods as far as the eye can see. Wolstonbury Hill is part of the South Downs National Park and you can explore it via some lovely walking trails. It will takes you through beech woodland at the base of the hill and across open grassland to the top of the hill. Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and the downs including Newtimber Hill and Devil's dyke. Hurstpierpoint Village is about 20-30 minutes walk from the Stable. The village offers coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and there is also a local Co-op.
  • Lovely place for a relaxing short break, hot tub was amazing and the hosts were lovely. Would love to head back there once a year for a little get away.

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend The Stable to anyone without question! Phil and Beata were so attentive if we needed anything and showed us everything we needed to know. Such a beautiful place to stay and relax. Loved the thoughtful touches like the homemade vodka and the eggs from the chickens, both were delicious! The birthday note and cake left for my boyfriend (it was a present for his birthday) was such a lovely touch. Loved being out in the open and seeing all of the animals, especially Teddy, Betty and Daisy! Would love to come back :)

    Levi2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely peaceful location, Phil and Beata are amazing hosts - the cake and card for my partner was really thoughtful thank you. We will definitely be returning for another stay soon.

    Nick2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The stable was a perfect stay. It was even cozier than it looked in the photos. We had everything we needed to make it a practical stay and the hot tub Beata and Phil kept endlessly hot for us was a little slice of heaven. Great hosts that were friendly and contactable when ever we had any questions. Also had a lovely meal at the Shepard & Dog (a great pub with fire in a quaint nearby village).

    Bradley2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Location was stunning and the property was exactly as we'd hoped. Tiny but very cute and perfect for couples. Complimentary coffee eggs and milk, and also some berry vodka which went down very well! Lots of scenic walks in the area and the hot tub was in a great setting. Thanks to Phil and Beata for a lovely couple of nights!

    George2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, perfect hide-out for escape from the city; Beata and Phil were friendly from start to finish, house is ever so cosy with floor heating, wonderful shower and cosy bed, offers all essential facilities including induction hob. perfect - highly recommended

    Anika2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find nicer hosts. We had a really lovely break away and loved being greeted by chickens in the morning. The hot tub in the evening was amazing. Sat under the stars and it was so peaceful. We would recommend a stay here! It’s also a 30 min drive from Brighton! Do go and check out hurstpier village. We had a roast at The New Inn as recommended by the hosts and it was the most incredible food! One of the best roasts we’ve ever had.

    Terri-Anne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our short break at The Stable was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable, both hosts were welcoming and answered any queries we had. They gave us good recommendations for dinner and drinks in the local town, as well as good walking routes. Having a hot tub is an added bonus too!

Our timber clad garden pod is up-market glamping, with a view to the Downs. Close to Brighton and a walk across fields to the village. On sunny days, open up the folding sliding doors and enjoy a drink on the decking.
The pod is just over an hour from London and 20 minutes or so from Brighton. At the end of the garden of our Sussex farmhouse, the view is through the trees and towards the Downs. The pod has a comfortable double bed, sofa, table and chairs. There's a shower room and a small kitchen area, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle. (The hot water is from a small tank, so showers need to be very speedy, hence ‘glamping’ ) For heat, there's a wood-burning stove and a basic electric heater. It's just a few minutes walk across fields to the village of Hurstpierpoint, with several pubs and places to eat. You will have your own key and can come and go as you like. The pod uses the same driveway as the main house, with plenty of room for parking. The house is approached down a rutted farm track, so best not to bring a low slung car! Although there's no fencing between the pod area and the farmhouse garden, directly in front of the pod there's its own area of lawn and a magnolia tree, with a stream beyond. There's also easy access to a footpath to the village across a bridge in the garden. If you have a dog who can be trusted without fences, then he or she is welcome. We have a friendly black labrador called Monty. Tim, Pippa and family are very happy to help with any queries about the pod or beyond. Monty the labrador will almost certainly bring an old shoe to welcome you. We are close to the Downs National Park, as well as having Brighton 20 minutes away. So if you want to walk and visit the village, then it's easy. But it's equally easy to pop into Brighton for sea air or shopping. We are located close to the A23. The nearest station is Hassocks, which is 10/15 minutes by cab. This is the Brighton line to London Bridge/ Victoria. Gatwick airport is 30 minutes by car. There is a limited bus service to Brighton from the top of the track (10 minute walk to the bus stop from the pod). There's also cycle hire at the station in Hassocks: (URL HIDDEN) The pod has its quirks. Squirrels sometimes like to frolic on the flat roof and if it rains heavily with the wind in the wrong direction, you might get a bit of rain down the chimney. Of course, we think that the good quirks outweigh the imperfections. You will find eggs from our hens on the sideboard and a bowl of fruit when you arrive. Plus the ingredients for tea and coffee. The double bed will be made up and there will be clean towels.

  • My partner and I (along with our dog, Dougal) stayed in the Pod for a couple of nights in March. Pippa was an excellent host, she made sure the Pod was spotless for our arrival and made us feel at home on the farm whilst ensuring we had our privacy. The stylish, yet cosy pod was the perfect escape from our day to day lives in London. It's the perfect place to relax after a day of walking in the nearby South Downs - just light the fire and get stuck into one of the many books from the bookshelf. Plus, it's just a short walk away from Hurstpierpoint village which has a good choice of gastro pubs and restaurants. Look forward to staying again!

  • Lovely little spot, everything I needed, total privacy and relaxing space. Nice to know the hosts were there if I needed them but lovely to be left in peace, sweet touches with dairy supplies & flowers too. Mostly I just loved having the Woodburner for company. My dog and I had a much needed break, and I can recommend the area too. Great hosts, great space. Thank you

  • This was our first pod experience but have done a lot of camping/tenting. This is by far nicer. Loved being in the country, hostes were so kind and thoughtful. Felt right at home. Nice location to do quite a bit of sight seeing and just resting with a good book and warm fire. Took our two small dogs and it was perfect for them. No fencing but they are home bods so it was no problem they could go out with no fear of roads and explore. Lovely stream by pod . In summer it must be extra beautiful. So glad to have met this family, they crept into our hearts. Pod is private and away from their home so it was very nice for a rest and just time to unwinde. Can walk into town with lots if little places to eat. Large Tesco just+-2.5 miles away. Amazed what I could cook in just a microwave. Bottle of creamy milk from hostess was delicious. Thank you to Pippa and Tim.

  • Great communication and a lovely host, being flexible with an extra day at short notice. Lovely little space and the perfect way to end the day - peaceful and very relaxing. I stayed with my 2 dogs who had a great time and they loved the space. It is very comfortable and the perfect retreat. The extra touches were much appreciated and waking up to that view certainly started the day well!

  • It was our second time at the tiny house and it was great again. Pippa and her husband are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place.

  • A wonderful stay, very accommodating hosts, peaceful little haven, very comfy bed with a lovely view and I loved making myself a little fire. The weather was torrential rain but it was still nice and cost. Definitely recommend thanks again Pippa and Tim.

    Mandy2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • The pod was a great find for a couple of nights peace and quiet for my partner, our dog and I in the new year. We just wanted a retreat in the countryside with no tv. It was as described and we got really toasty with the log burner on! we did a 5 mile walk from the back garden (very muddy thanks to Pippa for the reminder to being wellies!) and walked to the Horse Inn for a lovely meal (10mins walk). Would defo recommend.

  • Firstly to mention- Jill I a superb host! We arrived to be given a grand tour and discover in the Shepard’s hit Jill had provided us with a full county breakfast, eggs, bacon, orange juice, jam, bread! The whole experience was gorgeous and the view from the hot tub is to die for! A MUST go stay.

    James2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and relaxing stay. I thoroughly enjoyed some chill time in the hot tub and the accommodation itself was well decorated with everything I needed there and waiting for me :)

  • Lovely for a weekend getaway. Jill provided food and the shepherds hut and hot tub were ace.

  • Another lovely stay! Our second stay, this time our first winter stay. The cabin was lovely and cosy and the hot tub was great. Jill is a fantastic host, highly recommend and we are looking forward to visiting again in the New Year.

  • Jill's place is amazing! We had a really lovely time there. Jill herself is very hospitable and thoughtful with all sorts of nice little touches to make the trip more enjoyable. The venue is incredible. Really beautiful old farm house in an incredibly beautiful natural area with stunning views from the hot tub. The tub itself was really clean and looked after as well as being piping hot with all the functions. The addition of a sauna made it an incredible package. The shepherds hut itself is only very small but that's what we were expecting. It was well made out and very cosy and comfortable with everything we needed for an overnight stay. It was also nice and warm despite our stay being in December! Would totally recommend to anyone looking for a spa stay

    Daniel2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jill’s place was adorable - set with the most beautiful view of the South Downs! We had a wonderful and relaxing night enjoying the hot tub and sitting by the fire. Jill was extremely helpful providing me with gumboots because I didn’t bring any, and also food to cook up for breakfast! The little touches made this place feel so homely and comfortable! Couldn’t recommend enough for a little break from the bustling London life!

    Jennifer2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space perfect for a night away. Had an amazing sunset in the hot tub followed by a delicious meal at the golden fox. The bacon and eggs in the morning was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend.

My place is close to the high street of steyning which is a quaint and historical town located on the edge of the south downs national park. It has an array of quirky independant shops catering for all tastes , it is on a direct link to Brighton and the coats as well as walking distance to the south downs. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends ( pets ) .
Mill Cottage is a characterful and cosy 1 bed cottage , all beams , low ceilings , low doorways and period features but with the luxury of all the mod cons located down a hidden Twitten in the heart of the Steyning conservation area and within a stones throw of the high street with all the amenities. The cottage itself is mixture of old and new - the building is old but the amenities are new with gas fired central heating , undefloor heating in the bathroom and an electric wood burner in the lounge to keep the chill off on those cool summer or long winter evenings......
The cottage is located in the conservation area of Steyning and within 5 minutes walk to the high street and direct access onto the South Downs .
  • The kind of cottage you dream about when imagining a new life in the country.

    David2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This delightful, well equipped cottage is in a quiet corner of charming Steyning. Direct access to the South Downs way and beautiful walks and views and to the lovely shops and eateries in Steyning. Good car parking (quiet season) and lots to do and see nearby.

  • A true escape from the rat race almost a step back in time but with fantastic modern facilities. Perfect location. Beautiful walks and a pub with great grub at the end of the road. Fell in love with the stable door, had my morning cuppa looking at the fresh morning. Can not wait to go again

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE After having symptoms we self isolated for 14 days. I will not take any bookings that cover the lockdown period. If you want to book for May onwards please observe any relevant government guidance. If you or we develop symptoms the stay will have to be ended. Stay healthy!
The room is cosy and comfortable with a tv, DVD player, smart tv box and wifi access. Children are welcome. 2 singles OR one super king. These beds can be attached together to make a super king. There is a folding guest bed that can put in the room. Full height and thickness mattress, but slightly smaller than a full size single. The room can accommodate 3 adults but it is a tight squeeze. Please bear that in mind if booking for a group of adults. I provide bread, butter, jam, juice, milk, tea and coffee. Dairy free available. You are welcome to some fridge space for a longer stay and to prepare your own food. For very short stays (1-2 nights) please make arrangements to eat out in the evening. There is only one bathroom so consideration is needed. You will have a house key. The dining table living room is available for use for eating breakfast/dinner (longer stays, 3 days plus). I offer a clean and comfortable room in a quiet house. I am likely to go to bed early and be out during the day so we will not cross paths too much. The area of north lancing/sompting is very quiet, residential and peaceful. It is fairly far from the town centre (2 miles) so bear that in mind if you are not bringing a car. There is free parking on the street but it can get quite busy. Public transport is limited - buses run into lancing or Worthing twice per hour but only in the daytime mon-sat. Lancing is on the main train line on the south coast.
The area of north lancing/sompting is very quiet, residential and peaceful. It is not easy to get around without a car as it is 2 miles from the train station. The town of lancing is very small with a few pubs that offer food, Indian restaurants, several takeaways, an Italian and a Greek restaurant. The area I live in is a 40 minute walk from the town centre and offers a pub, Chinese takeaway and convenience store within close walking distance. Please make sure you familiarise yourself with the location on a map and you are happy with the location.
  • Another good stay at Katherine's house. Cut short unfortunately due to self isolation, but that's no reflection on Katherine's hospitality which was, again, first rate. She's considerate and looks after her guests

  • I had a really pleasant stay at Katherine's house, the room was large and comfortable and Katherine was helpful and relaxed. The breakfast provisions were an added bonus and well received, as were the shower gel and shampoo. Would (and will) be happy to stay again. I didn't even find it to be too far out of the way really, I walked from Lancing station in 35 minutes.

The hosts were always available when we needed them, but never intruded in our routines. I sprained my ankle and Vanessa was very quick to provide the necessary medicine. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Our 19th century house was originally a church hall and in the 90s was converted and split in 2 houses, the exterior is a Grade II listed building. Our place is in Steyning, a beautiful village set next to the South Downs National Park. It's recommended for couples and families discovering the south of England. Also nature lovers following the South Downs trail. Or business travellers due to good connections by road to large cities like Brighton, Chichester and Horsham
Our house is distinctive due to the different size windows originally designed for a church hall space and the house renovation created rooms taking in consideration those windows. The ground floor has a large open plan kitchen-dinner with access to a patio area with table and chairs, the space is heightened by high ceilings as a reminder of the original church hall and also large window allowing plenty of light throughout the day. On the same floor there is a shower room, spacious living room with modern designer sofas and there is also a laundry room. The first floor has 2 bedrooms, one room in the back of the house has a super king size bed with views to the downs and the front bedroom has a king size bed frame by a large window facing the street; also this room has a mezzanine space with a desk and library. On the same floor there is a modern large bathroom with a ceiling window with a bath tub and monsoon shower. This is our main house and although working abroad we visit family and friends on a regular basis and you should be aware that you may find personal items around the house, like books and traveling objects from out trips on the shelving units, some packaged food in kitchen drawers, non-perishing food like oil, vinegar, salt, etc or personal toiletries.
I live in a very peaceful and quiet place with a lively high street scene.

The accomodation is a fully self contained annexe with a hallway, kitchen, shower room, & large living room/bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, fridge freezer, & all cooking/eating utensils. The shower room has a walk-in shower, a toilet, & a wash-hand basin. The main living space has a comfortable king-size bed & a sofa bed that can sleep 2 children or 1 adult. There is a large wardrobe & a dining table with chairs. The annexe has it's own entrance, central heating, & wifi.
The property is entered through a front door that is for the exclusive use of the guests. This opens onto a hallway with a cupboard & shelving for coats and shoes. Leading off the hall is the fully fitted galley kitchen. There is a further door from the hall into the shower room & toilet, and another door from the hall leading into the main living room. In addition to the large, and exceptionally comfortable sleigh bed, is a sofa bed which can be used as an additional bed for two children or one adult. There is a dining table and chairs, a wardrobe, a television, and ethernet sockets. Wifi is also available at the property. Free parking is found directly outside the property, and buses stop nearby every twenty to thirty minutes.
Stone Lane is an unusual road, with my property dating back to the early 1600s (with a date stone added later when the lifting beam was removed). Houses have been added over the centuries with most of the properties dating from the early to mid 20th century. Less than 3 minutes walk from the property is the John Selden pub - a friendly local serving a variety of beverages, food, and live music events. Opposite the pub is a small Co-op that serves us well for all day to day shopping needs. There is also a fish and chip shop on the opposite corner from the pub.

A single studio room that has its own shower room (with a great shower) WC and basin. The studio has a fridge, microwave, toaster with tea and coffee making facilities. You can control your own heating in the studio. There is also a flat screen TV and excellent Wifi. The studio is like a hotel room with its own private access and small courtyard with a table and chair.
The main house is in a quiet residential area which backs onto the beautiful 'Beach House Park'. Its a 5 minute walk to Worthing town centre with all its shops, restaurants, cafes and theatres. A one minute walk to ‘Splashpoint’ gym and swimming pool, two minutes to the beach and seafront. Worthing Hospital is quite literally at the end of the road (3 minutes).
  • I loved Tabitha's little studio accommodation. It was warm, cosy, comfortable, spotless, and had everything I needed. Also very convenient for my work. A super place to stay that I would definitely stay in again :)

The Garden Cottage is a bright, modern space on two floors, with views across a pretty cottage garden towards the South Downs. The spacious first floor bedroom has a king size bed, walk-in cupboard and Juliet balcony, and the ground floor comprises a generous sitting room, kitchenette and shower room. Steps lead from the patio doors in the sitting room into a small vegetable garden, growing mainly salad crops and herbs, which is intended mainly for use by Garden Cottage guests.
The Garden Cottage is on a private drive of only four houses, off a quiet lane, but still only a short walk from the centre of Steyning, with all its shops and amenities. Guests enter the Cottage via a lockable door from a shared entrance lobby. There are two steps into the lobby from the driveway, and three more down into the Cottage.
Steyning is a pretty historic town with a population of about 6,000 residents, at the foot of the beautiful South Downs. The popular South Downs Way is close by, as is Monarch's Way, and other well-known footpaths and bridleways. Steyning has plenty of interesting and quirky shops, galleries and a museum, as well as several excellent cafes and some good traditional pubs. St Andrew's Church, part of which dates back to Saxon times, is also well worth a visit. Steyning Leisure Centre with its 25m swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and other sports facilities, is just a short walk from the Garden Cottage. There are wonderful views from the top of the South Downs, and plenty of off-road routes directly from Steyning, whether walking or cycling. Less energetic guests can drive to the top of the Downs and park there, to enjoy the views as well as a less challenging stroll.
  • A beautiful, well equipped, immaculate and lovely place to stay. Jane and Gary are indeed ‘super hosts’(!) who couldn’t have been more helpful. Brilliant location for exploring Steyning and the Downs.

  • This is a wonderful find if you are visiting Brighton and surrounding area. Accommodation is spacious, stylish, clean and thoughtfully laid out. Gary and Jane are warm and friendly hosts, and their location is in a quiet spot within walking distance of the local eateries. The fresh eggs, homemade jam , bread and milk supplied for breakfast are a wonderful touch and the well equipped kitchen mean you can make good use of them Great place to stay for a few days

  • It was great! Jane and Gerry welcomed us like friends. We arrived 4 days before, parked the car there to drive to friends to London. Gerry even drove us to the train station and picked us up there again. The apartment is very well equipped and sophisticated. We appreciate the absolute peace there and could sleep with the windows open. We were able to use the garage to park high quality e-bikes. Thank you Jane & Gerry, we will definitely be back! • Jane and Gary are lovely people with a gorgeous house. Very hospitable and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in their clean and comfortable house. They also kindly provided eggs from their hens and fresh bread and teas which came in handy. Location was perfect for the event we attended and it was nice to come back to nice comfortable and clean place after being out all day for an event. We will book another stay for our next event.

  • We highly recommend this accommodation because it is a 5 star service that awaits you! Quality of accommodation, garden, environment and location for visits to Brighton (possible by car but I recommend the train because it is very well served). Ditto for London .... but Jane and Gary will explain all that ... because they are very attentive and friendly hosts.

Bright, airy with a very relaxing atmosphere. It has a double bed and a single bed suitable for three people.Steyning is a small village near Brighton and Worthing, excellent place for people that love walking and great scenery plus the vibrancy of Brighton. I have two small, old and friendly dogs living with me called Pongo and Samba.
  • Had a lovely one night stay in Trini’s beautiful home. She was there to greet us as soon as we arrived! Our room was ideal with two beds and close to the town as we were visiting for a wedding nearby. Trini’s dogs were also very sweet and well behaved. The bathroom & shower room were clean, as was the bedroom. The next morning we were greeted with a lovely spread for breakfast - all sorts of cereals, toast, fresh fruit and pastries, all of which we did not expect - and much needed after a wedding reception the night before! Even though we arrived late back in the night Trini did not mind and was very welcoming. Overall a very pleasant stay for one night in Trini’s eclectic and uniquely decorated home, a wonderful host & would thoroughly recommend to anyone needing to stay in the area.

  • Trini is an amazing host and was extremely friendly and accommodating for our 1 night stay. She walked us to the nearby town and made sure we found our way and gave great suggestions on the surrounding area. She prepared a charming breakfast for us in the morning and showed great care to make sure we were taken care of. Definitely recommend staying with her if you are in the Steyning/Brighton area!

  • We had a very nice stay at Triny's place. She was very nice and gave us a lot of tips of things we could do and see around. She has two very nice dogs who sometimes bark and yelp, but thats okay. She is very friendly, obliging and welcoming and gave her best to give us a comfortable stay. Her home is sweet and cozy and we would definitely recommed it and come back! Thank you very much! :)

It was very comfortable and was perfect for what we needed. It’s really easy to get into Brighton by train, so we were able to leave the car and not worry about parking when we got into Brighton. We also loved seeing Helen and Su’s furry friends- Panda was super friendly and we loved getting kitty cuddles while on holiday! A really lovely stay, thanks again to Helen and Su!

  • I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Karyns. Very clean, close to shops and bus. Lovely to have my own bathroom, tea and cereals in my room. Next time I'm visiting family in Worthing, I'd be delighted to stay again. Thanks Karyn

    Sally2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay at Karyn's, she's an attentive and organised host who's clearly put a lot of thought into her guest's comfort and convenience. Having a few breakfast items available every day is a lovely bonus, and they were always replenished by the evening. I loved the little clip-top bottle of milk. It was also a big positive point that I had my own bathroom with a bath, it made the whole stay more relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and the room airy with plenty of desk and cupboard space. Overall I thoroughly recommend staying here. Karyn will answer all your questions, make you feel at home, and ensure you have a stress-free stay in a very pleasant room.

    Martin2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • The first thing I wish to point out is how easy it is to find. I went by car from Gatwick and the address is very close to the main A27. But despite its proximity to such a main road, the street itself is wonderfully peaceful. The location is excellent. Just a few minutes walk away are shops and various food options. Karyn is a very friendly and welcoming lady and explained everything clearly plus there was written information in the room. I read a review where someone seemed unhappy with the house alarm system but Karyn showed me how to set it and it really couldn’t be easier. The room itself was, as others have said, spotlessly clean and also spacious, with ample desk-space for your laptop etc and a variety of lamps means you’re able to create just the right ambience if you don’t want the main, brighter light on. Breakfast things as well as tea & coffee were also in the room and replenished each day by Karyn. The bed was comfortable. Others may say “very comfortable : I’m speaking as someone who has spent at least 15 years sleeping on the floor (by choice as I prefer it) so I’m very fussy about beds! I slept soundly though in such a peaceful environment. The wifi also worked perfectly, an important point in these modern times of technology dependence! I’m struggling to find anything to criticize. I did feel slightly awkward having to go out to the car late in the evening - but only because I didn’t want to wake anyone up with the alarm. However, as I say, it’s a simple system to operate and I don’t think I disturbed anyone... at least I hope not! And it has to be said that the alarm does bring about a sense of safety and security so.... no complaints! In short, I am very happy to recommend Karyn as a host and her house as a comfortable and very conveniently-located place to stay in Worthing.

  • Jennifer's place is a wonderfully cosy, comfortable flat where you will feel right at home and very welcome. It's close enough to town for you to park your car up and walk to where you need to be during your stay but far enough out of town to not be bothered by late night revellers. Alternatively there bus stop for the coastliner service is just a minute away. The flat is right across from the beach so perfect for an early morning meander along the promenade to wake you up. Jennifer is the perfect host - kind, friendly, welcoming, and discreet but available should you need anything with lots of local knowledge to share about things to do/places to see. Highly recommended!

A quiet flat in a new build property situated on a friendly, well presented estate. There is a communal garden with benches and grassy areas to sit and enjoy.
The room is newly decorated with a new day bed. This is a single bed which can be opened up to a double for the benefit of two guests. The room has a desk which is a useful work space or dressing table. Hanging space and shelves for you own belongings. A private bathroom which has a bath and use of a sit-down shower hose. I have spare toothbrushes, just in case and provide other little extras which will hopefully help to make you feel at home. The room comes with a kettle, various teas/coffee/sugar/mini milks and water. There are plates, cups and cutlery if you wanted to bring a take away or other food home. The room has a range of books and board games. These are for you to use and enjoy during your stay. Please do not take them with you as it stops future guests benefiting from them. If you haven't finished the book during your stay, you are welcome to come back and stay again :)
Close to the beach, just a 5 minute drive (with free parking on the front) or circa 25 minute walk. Sea Lane Cafe is on the seafront and is a lovely place to grab a meal or a coffee and a cake during the daytime. Local shops just around the corner which include; a Co-op open until 10pm, chemist, bakery, fresh sandwich shop, various take aways/ fish & chips, a pub and a petrol station which is useful if you need to fill up the car. Worthing Leisure Centre and Field Place have fitness classes and facilities which are available to 'non-members'. These are very close, both within 10 minute walking distance. Plenty of restaurants, pubs and entertainment throughout Worthing. Worthing Town Centre is easily accessible with public transport and plenty of parking around town if you plan on driving. If you need something which is not in our local shops, there are lots of large supermarkets are near by, the closest is Tesco Extra which is a 6 minute drive, however, Asda and Sainsburys superstores are just under 10 minutes in the car with an Aldi not much further away.

The cottage is one of a pair of attached cottages converted from an old dairy. The cottage is single story and has wheelchair access
Steyning is a picturesque traditional market town. It is unique in that there are no chain cafes and a fabulous range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
  • A gorgeous semi detached cottage in Steyning. Super clean with a huge bed, amazing shower and fully equipped kitchen. Semi rural location but still an easy walk to village. We had a lovely relaxing time with our dog to bring in the new year - thanks so much!

Good size double bedroom with ensuite toilet/sink, use of seperate shared shower room available. Walking distance to Broadwater shopping and Worthing Town Centre and mainline train station. Brighton 20 mins, Gatwick 40 mins, London 90 mins. Parking on driveway for 2 cars.
Detatched bungalow is set in a quiet close which is a private road but only 5 mins walk from Broadwater shopping with coffee shops, café, supermarket, bank, post office and small local shops.
  • The room is perfect for a couple or a solo traveler, its spotless and well spaced. Though not centrally located, it has everything one would require, such as a Tescos, within a short walking distance. Linda is a wonderful host and beyond welcoming. I would 100% stay with her again in the future.

    Ómar2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's home is lovely. A large bedroom with plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe. It has a little table and chairs where I could eat and work. It also has a separate en-suite loo and basin which was handy. Finally, Linda allowed me to park on her driveway which was great and meant that I my car was off the road (albeit a very quiet little cul-de-sac anyway). Many thanks

    Fiona2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s place was sparkling clean and I had plenty of privacy and room. Linda was very flexible and friendly about my check in time. I would certainly recommend!

    Jon2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very much enjoyed staying in Linda's beautiful home. The bedroom was large, cosy (decor and bed) and had a handy little ensuite. Will definitely stay here again if available while visiting the area and look forward to seeing Linda and her adorable dog Lexi again. Lori & Anthony

Beautiful new garden room with en-suite shower (no bath) and tea/coffee making facilities. Located in the stunning, picturesque village of Upper Beeding (with local supermarket & two pubs offering food/beer gardens on the River Adur) this gorgeous studio room offers a peaceful, light space to relax to the birdsong and enjoy the flowers! With outside space to enjoy your morning coffee, a really comfy sofa bed, fresh bedding and fluffy towels, what's not to enjoy! Perfect for walkers and cyclists!
I have a big, soppy dog who loves ALL humans and wants to be your friend! She will share the garden with you but will respect your privacy!
The South Downs Way is on our doorstep. You can head off in any direction and go on a stunning walk. The next town is Steyning, which is also beautiful, with lots of quaint and unique shops. On the way to Steyning is Bramber Castle for historians and picnic fans alike! We are 10 minutes drive to Shoreham if you are more of a beach person and for those who love city life, Brighton is really close too.
  • Sonja's place is nice and private in a quiet neighborhood. We were warmly welcomed by Sonja and her dog, Koko. The guest house is tiny but very new and clean - the fold-out is comfortable.

  • Robin's Retreat is a perfect spot for anyone looking for somewhere to rest their heads in the area. It's 20 mins from Hove and right in the middle of the South Downs path - so works for all. The retreat is a great space, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and the little extras such as the table and chair's outside to enjoy your croissants in the morning sun made my stay even better! Sonja was the perfect host and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her retreat to others. Thanks Sonja, hope to see you again.

Sonja always makes sure your stay is as comfortable as possible and the breakfast in the morning is a lovely touch :)

Great views of Devils Dyke area. Amazing South Downs walks as we are situated inside the National Park and only 5 miles from Brighton. The village pub across the road has a beer garden and restaurant. A 15 minute walk to award winning local garden centre, deli and cafe (Rushfields). On the Bus route into Brighton, a car is recommended but not essential. The resident cat would appreciate feeding during your stay.
The home is really warm and cosy and recently completely renovated. A large kitchen diner opens out onto marvellous views, ideal for day dreaming or inspiring you to get out and enjoy the countryside. There are 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a very comfortable pull out bed, which can be made up as a single or kingsize.
A rural retreat where you can feel as though you are at the top of the world (well almost), within a 15 minute walk up various routes to the top of Devils Dyke, part of the South Downs Way.
  • Claudia and Andrew are so easy to work with. Their home is lovely, nestled right in the village with a wonderful backyard garden.

    Kelley2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Have to say this was an amazing find. The place was absolutely spotless and that back garden was just a gem to sit in the sun and drink wine in. Truly one of airbnb's finest.

    Sajad2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home with a lovely garden and stunning views of the Downs. You can walk for hours in gorgeous countryside, straight from the house. We would very much like to return.

  • Claudia & Andrew’s home exceeded expectations. A wonderful bright space with a glorious garden and beautiful views across the Downs. The place was spotless with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a warm and welcoming feeling. It’s also in a very lovely village, right in the heart of the South Downs National Park - great for walking holidays. Highly recommended, and we will certainly be back.

  • A beautiful house in a really lovely spot. Perfect for our little family - our toddler loved the garden (and the beautiful cat), not to mention the great play area in the (excellent) pub immediately opposite. Claudia and Andrew were great hosts. Highly recommended.

    Christian2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia and Andrew's place is beautiful, peaceful and spotless! It has everything you need inside and out. We didn't meet our hosts as they were away but we met lots of the neighbours in the village who were lovely. I would stay here again without hesitation, one of my favourite airbnb's so far on my travels.
