  • Morgay Cottage is an ideal place to stay if you want to visit places like Rye, the White Cliffs of Dover and Canterbury. The cottage itself had everything we needed and more. We only found it a bit hard to find the entrance at night, so it's handy to pin your location. Jenny is very friendly and the cats and dog are very cute. We would definitely recommend this location!

    Eva2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay here, loved the space and the little extras. Jenny was quick to respond to messages and was a fantastic host, the price is a great bargain for what you get and I’d recommend anyone looking at this place to stay here.

Located in the High Weald area of Kent which is an AONB, The Cabin at Valley View Farm is set in its own space amongst 16 acres of wood and grazing. It used to be an old hop pickers mobile home but has been lovingly restored to a modern, well presented “mini” haven. A fully self-contained cabin with open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, king size bed in bedroom and a shower room and toilet. Ideal for a couple or two singles as a Z-bed can be provided. Private outside veranda with a fire pit.
Located in the High Weald area of Kent which is an Area Of Outstanding Beauty, The Cabin at Valley View Farm is set in its own space amongst 16 acres of wood and grazing. It used to be an old hop pickers mobile home but has been lovingly restored to a modern, well presented “mini” haven. Peaceful, quiet and isolated. Private veranda with a fire-pit and a small garden where you can watch the birdlife including woodpeckers. Catch the odd glimpse of the deer in the woods. All totally isolated. It is a perfect place for couples and singles to come and get away from busy lives and there is so much to do within easy reach there is not room to attempt to list them all here. Alternatively snuggle in and watch some DVD's and have some much needed down time. Some of the attractions are the harbour town of Rye, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Battle, Headcorn for the aerodrome and Maidstone. Too many NT and Heritage sites to list but you can easily get to Batemans, Scotney, Bodiam, Leeds and Sissinghurst Castles and Hole Park in Rolvenden which is privately owned and Great Dixter Manor and Gardens just down the road. Bedgebury Pinetum and Hempstead Woods offer fantastic walking opportunities and also cycling is a very popular hobby in the area, you can bring your own or hire one locally. There is the Bodiam Boating Centre a couple of miles away where you can take leisurely craft up to the Castle or hire a kayak and go up and down the river at a more leisurely pace. The East Sussex Vintage Steam Railway is to be found in another Cinque Port town of Tenterden which is only a 15 mins drive. The railway can take you on a 10 mile trip through the countryside and up to Bodiam. If the weather is on side Camber Sands is 30/40 minutes drive offering miles of golden coastline and Winchelsea not too far away. The village of Sandhurst is set amongst acres and acres of vineyards and hop fields. Luckily the end products can be tried and tested at nearly Chapel Down, Biddenden and Hush Heath Vineyards in Staplehurst. You also do not have to go far at all for plenty of great places to eat and drink including cafes, restaurants and old traditional country pubs. If the weather is inclement then nearby Hawkhurst (and Rye) offers a lovely boutique cinema, the Kino, where you can sit in small theatres and enjoy the latest films with a glass of wine and some sweet treats !. A fully self-contained cabin with open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, king size bed in bedroom and a shower room and toilet. Ideal for a couple or two singles as a Z-bed can be provided. The Cabin is set on one level but it has steps up to it. Lounge area has a large sofa and an electric wood burner, a flat screen TV able to play on-demand Netflix, Amazon Prime (guest own account), catch-up TV with a built-in DVD (some DVDs supplied) and a DAB radio. Dining area with two chairs and a table. Bathroom has a shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. Wifi included. Decked veranda with Adirondak chairs where you can sit and have breakfas.t, bird spot and see the odd deer in the woods and the ponies in the fields beyond. There is a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows and sit out under a canopy of star on a clear night. There is also a small garden area with a picnic table. The veranda looks out onto the 8 acre wood. Stunning when the bluebells are out.
Our neighbourhood is very peaceful but you do not have to go far for a multitude of sites to see and places to eat and drink. Recommendations can be given.
  • A tranquil, beautiful location in a well-equipped, comfortable cabin. Karen was very helpful and had lots of tips about what to see and do in the area. I'm sure to visit again - thank you!

  • An amazing stay, in a great location making it a short drive to anywhere that you would want a day out. The Cleanliness and little touches inside the cabin make it all that much better after a long day out coming back to a very homely feel. Shops near by for anything that you may need as well as restaurants make it a great get away for whoever needs a peaceful break.

  • I was working locally and found Karen and David’s property. It is serenely peaceful, beautifully equipped, clean and comfortable. My partner joined me for a few days and we couldn’t have been made more welcome, in fact leaving today was a little sad! We are already planning another trip.

    Helen2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful rural cabin surrounded by countryside and even a beautiful little private area of forest! The perfect way to escape for a break of relaxation in the middle of nature. Karen and David were wonderful hosts, always on hand to give advice and recommendations for local walks, cafes, restaurants etc. We would 100% recommend a visit to Lime Wharf cafe by the boating station which has amazing breakfasts and the best brownies ever! Karen and David have some wonderful animals, ponies and dogs, who were beautiful and very friendly, and we were lucky to be able to spend some time with them, and hearing their stories. Thank you Karen and David for a wonderful weekend!

    Daisy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, quiet place right on the doorstep of the forest. The nicest part of our stay was waking up in nature and listening to the birds on the veranda as the sun was going down. Cozy and well equipped little cabin. Perfect size for 2.

More professional photography coming soon! Inkpen Cottage is a charming, detached Grade II listed red brick building originally thought to have been a farmworker’s cottage. You’ll find it tucked away on Strawberry Hill Farm, where the owners are working towards developing a self-sufficient lifestyle. There’s plenty to see on the farm itself, including a vegetable garden, fruit trees, a poly tunnel and geese and chickens, not to mention the odd pig or two! Recently renovated, the cottage has been refurbished to a high standard. The attractive, locally-made clay tile flooring has underfloor heating throughout, while the open-plan sitting room and kitchen benefits from a wood burning stove with French doors leading out to the private garden. The garden has wonderful views of the East Sussex countryside. In one corner, you’ll find a copse with a hammock and hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring. The cottage is situated in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with ancient woodlands, iron workings and meadows teeming with wildlife. With many beautiful villages and towns nearby to explore including Battle, Rye, Burwash and Tenterden and the south coast is a short drive from the cottage. This holiday at a glance Sleeps two guests. Bedroom with 5' king size bed. Shower room. Open-plan kitchen and sitting room. Wood burning stove. Enclosed garden. WiFi. Gravel parking area. Sorry, no children or dogs. Minimum two night stay. Additional features Electric oven and hob. Fridge with freezer compartment. Microwave. Dishwasher. Cable television. Sonos speaker. Hammock. Hot tub. Garden furniture. Attractions and nearby amenities Cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, historic buildings, Rye is a delightful place to visit at any time of year. You’ll find lots of independent shops and cafes nestled amongst the narrow medieval lanes and passageways like Mermaid Street. St. Mary’s church tower is normally open to the public, from where you can enjoy a magical view of the houses and streets below. Camber Sands has to be seen to be believed. The beach here is vast, with a backdrop of magnificent sand dunes. People say that the best end of the beach is towards the west, where the River Rother meets the sea. If you like your history good and ancient, a visit to the town of Battle will take you back to 1066. Re-enactments of the battle are held regularly and there are arts and music festivals throughout the year. The medieval abbey is worth a visit too. Bateman’s was the last home of Rudyard Kipling, whose widow left it to the National Trust. This 17th century Jacobean house has a moat and a beautiful romantic garden too. The house is laid out as it would have been in the Kipling family’s day. Bodiam Castle is another National Trust property, also complete with its own moat. This dates back a lot longer, to the 14th century, when it was built by a knight of Edward III. The interior is now a ruin, but the exterior looks just how you’d want a castle to be. Sissinghurst Castle is famous for the garden created by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicholson. The couple created a series of separate garden rooms, including the Rose Garden and the White Garden, with its wonderful monochromatic colour scheme. If you’re an art lover, you’ll want to visit Hastings. The town is home to Hastings Contemporary, a vibrant centre of the contemporary arts that’s just a few steps from the beach, while White Rock Theatre hosts everything from rock concerts to panto. If opera is more your thing, don’t forget about Glyndebourne, where the Festival Opera is held every summer. For additional inspiration on what to do within the area, please click here.
  • Absolutely perfect country getaway! Beautifully decorated, warm and cosy, many thoughtful touches, delightful hot tub and fireplace, comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom. Couldn't wish for more.

  • Lovely place. A lot Of thoughtful details. For example dog treats for our dogs. Trisha is lovely. If we can give travellers a tip I would suggest for people travelling to this area is to book your table for dinner if you would like to go local. Over the 3 nights satay we could find a table for lunch or dinner and ended up with take away from rye or Hastings. Lovely brewery -great beer and lovely atmosphere within a short distance from the cottage.

    Roxana2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Trisha’s apartment was absolutely wonderful! Sparkling clean and very, very stylish. Everything was exactly as expected and I loved my stay :)

  • Trisha’s place was perfect. Very clean, comfortable and full of thoughtful touches. The studio was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We would defiantly recommend and hope to come back again. Thank you, Trisha

    Hannah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful studio accommodation in the lovely grounds of Trisha’s countryside home. Shame the weather meant we couldn’t use the fire pit outside but that didn’t matter. Place was clean, tidy and loved the pastries and cereals for breakfast. Great spot for exploring Rye Bay, close to a super pub (the red lion) and near to a few National Trust properties such as Bateman’s. Recommended for a country getaway.

Robertsbridge Cabin is conveniently located on Robertsbridge High Street, with its own private access. There is a large double bedroom with a cosy Chesterfield arm chair, plenty of storage and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests always comment on how comfy the bed is! Adjacent to the bedroom is a separate modern bathroom, complete with underfloor heating and complimentary toiletries. Fluffy robes add to the comfort! Private patio area, where you can enjoy star gazing or even a BBQ!
Situated just off the high street, this is a log cabin style property, with a modern bathroom and comfortable bedroom.
  • Rebecca’s cabin is absolutely gorgeous! Tucked away off the high street we followed the fairy lights up to the cabin with Rebecca who showed us the space and gave us some tips on the area. This is a great spot for walking around the beautiful area and we loved it lots! Good sized space with tea and biscuits (super important!) and a good sized bathroom too! Also super cosy, just what we needed! Highly recommend!

    Leanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place to rest your head! Excellent personal touches!

    Nicola2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca saved me in an emergency when I found myself too far from home to get back at the end of a work trip. She responded to my request within an hour, prepped the lodge and heated it, and it was ready for me within three hours of my first enquiry - if not two! It's plain and simple, but stylish - and the chair and generous bed are both incredibly comfortable. The shower room is unexpected - completely luxurious (especially given the situation at the top of a network of gardens), with strong shower, lovely towels, underfloor heating plus heated rail. Essential toiletries, tea and coffee (and chocolate biscuits!) are laid on - and I needed those! The night I stayed there was yet another storm, and the rain pounded on the roof and chunks of tree were thrown about by the wind - but it was still warm inside, and the verandah turned out to be really sheltered, so even going to the loo in a storm was no hardship. It's a great place to stay, and Rebecca is just amazing. Thank you!

    Claire2020-02-29T00:00:00Z

  • The directions to the cottage were clear and accurately described; host very helpful in run up to stay and during our stay when needed. The place itself exactly as described and everything described worked as it should. Great WiFi which was good as hideous weather came with our stay. Luckily the cottage was warm and cosy and we made the most of it. We very much recommend this little house as a base to explore the countryside and the south coast. Very close to Bodiam Castle too.

    Kimberley2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • April Cottage is cosy, modern and clean as well as child friendly (we stayed here with our 9 month old baby girl). As we stayed here in the wintertime we enjoyed the fireplace, cooking dinners and having a glass of wine. Great location to easily go out to various places.

    Waleed2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A charming cottage in rural Sussex/Kent that catered very well for our little family of three with some really luxurious touches. From here we were able to get to Brighton, Camber Sands, Rye and Battle for day-visits, and in the evenings we settled down in front of a roaring wood stove - perfect for dark January nights. Excellent and thoughtful communication and recommendations from Chris via email and through the helpful 'welcome pack'. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Alex2020-01-09T00:00:00Z

A pleasant double bedroom in a very charming, cosy and slightly rustic Victorian cottage. Easy walking distance to the town centre and the tourist sites of Battle Abbey and the 1066 Battlefield. Also nearby is The Great Wood which is good for strolls and the area is surrounded by the beautiful East Sussex countryside, ideal for walkers. Hastings and St Leonards-on-sea are a short trip by bus, train or car for a day on the coast.
It is a lovely place to stay in the spring/summer, and in the autumn/winter I normally light the woodburner which is nice to come back to on a cold night.
Battle is a beautiful rural town with local shops and places to eat and drink, including traditional afternoon tearooms and good old fashioned traditional pubs.
  • Lovely accommodation, really welcoming host - would heartily recommend

    Joe2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for Battle Abbey and local walks. Patrick is a kind and lovely host. Great value and highly recommended!

    Jen2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick was the most hospitable host we could have wished for. My boyfriend and I brought our dog with us and Patrick was kind enough to look after him for the day for us. He walked him and brought back some bones for him from the local butcher. He was very kind and knowledgable our entire stay and is full of thoughtful little touches. Thank you again for having us!

    Sarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Patric was a great host ! He was more than flexible with our check in and out time and gave us many useful tips and suggestions. His place is close to the train station and with a parking space so however you will arrive to the Battle is just so extremely convenient! Place look even better than on the pictures.

    Dorota2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick is an amazing host. He put us up at super last minute after our first host cancelled. He is very friendly and welcoming, and full of really helpful hints about Battle. His place is super clean and comfy.

    Jacob2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Warm welcome, neat and tidy, good conversation and the location is ideal for trains and walks. Highly recommended.

    John2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • My stay in Battle with Patrick was great. He even met me at the station to help with my bags, after giving me all the directions on what trains etc I needed to catch. We chatted away very comfortably, til 2am😊. Patrick left leaflets and also had verbal recommendations on what to see and where to eat etc. I would highly recommend Patrick's air bnb and would return myself if in the area. T

My home is on a quiet rural lane. Parking is on the lane but safe. The south facing guest room overlooks my garden at the back, and fields at the front. The cottage is light but cosy. It's perfect to relax here in all seasons. Sadly, not suitable for wheelchair access. Convenient for visiting the historic towns of Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings, Tenterden, Great Dixter Gardens and Bodiam Castle. I'm a chef/local food tour guide so happy for you to pre-book these services too!
Your bedroom has been reently refurbished, with a spacious ensuite shower room, with comfort height toilet. The bed is comfortable -there is a small armchair and stool, and there is space to comfortably put 1 large suitcase, and 1 small suitcase in the room (or 2 small and 2 med cabin size bags). You are welcome to use the facilities set up for you in the utility room anytime to make hot drinks, heat a meal in the microwave, and assemble breakfast with items I will leave for you. The Garden Room is a lovely breakfast room, and you may also eat a take-away ( Fish and Chips :) ) in here too. Ofcourse, if you'd like to pre-book a meal cooked by me, I am very happy to do this. I respectfully ask - NO eating or drinking (other than water of course!) in the bedroom. This just helps keep the room clean for all users. I provide 6-8 clothes hangers, but if you'd like more, please just ask me. This is my home. I have a pretty busy life and enjoy a good social life. The house is cosy, but I am respectful of my guests privacy. Usually my guests respect mine, and we all have a happy time!
There are wonderful walks and cycle rides from the house, tourist attractions and places to eat and drink nearby. Within 5-10 min walk, there's a cafe called Will's, a Fish and Chip shop, and a village shop for groceries and newspaters etc.!! There's a great pub The White Dog ( best to call for reservation if you'd like to eat) in Ewhurst Green ( 5 mins drive, 20 min cycle, 1 hour walk). An Indian restaurant is 1 mile from the village towards the Kent and Sussex Steam Train station.

Unique accommodation in a listed thatched cottage with an abundance of beams and an inglenook fireplace. Guests have their own sitting room with TV and a space to eat breakfast. A cold breakfast is included. There is a shower and toilet on the ground floor. WiFi is available throughout. The cottage is close to Bodiam Castle, Dixter Gardens, Rye; with Camber Sands Hastings and Battle just a short drive away. You are very welcome to enjoy our large garden. There is secure storage for bicycles.
This traditional thatched cottage also has Wifi throughout. There is a USB socket in the plug socket box in the sitting room area. A cold breakfast is provided; cereals, muffins, fresh fruit, juice, tea and coffee. A toaster is available if you want to bring your own toast type food. We have insurance endorsements as this is a timber framed thatched property so unfortunately guests cannot use the cooker or the woodburner. There are no street lights for miles so we get beautiful starry skies. The local pub is 1 mile away and we are 1 mile from Northiam.
It is a very safe area with lots to see and do. Amazing gardens and historical towns and villages. Camber sands and Hastings are half an hour away. Rye and Battle are 20 minutes away. Great Dixter Garden is in our village. Bodiam Castle is 10 minutes away. On the River Rother, just outside Northiam, you can take a boat or paddle to the castle. Electric bikes are also for hire. There is also a steam train that stops at Northiam on its journey from Tenterden to Bodiam. There are lots of lovely walks. The Sussex border path is about 1 mile away. We have local large scale maps that you are welcome to borrow.
  • Great location if you're after quiet as the cottage is approx. 15/20 minutes by car from Rye. Maggie was a fantastic host - very hospitable and friendly. Lovely touches with breakfast (cereals, milk, tea, coffee, juice, muffins). The cottage itself is very cosy - low exposed wooden beams, tight staircase, comfortable sofa - exactly what we were after for a weekend away from London. THANK YOU!

  • Warm welcome from Maggie. Cosy private space in an historic cottage.

    Brian2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and her husband are so welcoming and interesting. We loved our stay ( was too short though) in this centuries-old thatched cottage with amazing gardens and wildlife. Perfect spot for peace, quiet and exploring rye, Hastings etc. Thanks Maggie!

  • Maggie’s place was beautiful and perfectly located for a weekend walking in the country. I couldn’t fault the accommodation and it felt perfectly at home in its surroundings. Maggie gave us really useful local tips and was really easy to communicate with throughout. Would highly recommend

  • We had a lovely stay in a cosy cottage. Maggie was very hospitable. The cottage is stunning!

    Nele2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and Rich's cottage is delightful, and had all the amenities we required. We particularly wanted to stay near Great Dixter Garden for their Autumn Plant Fair, and as usual it was fabulous. So our stay was most enjoyable in all respects. A big thank you to our hosts.

    Penelope2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • A magical tudor house all to yourself, what a beautiful place to stay. It also feels like a home. There's no hot food facilities but a lovely pub nearby that was incredibly welcoming. Maggie even gave us a ride! And we shared a drink and a chat. Lovely hospitality and a home really full of love

    Marcelo2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and very authentic place for a weekend escape! The cottage was delightful and had such character - it was exactly what we were looking for. Maggie was really helpful and welcoming, and it’s a nice touch to have breakfast included. The local pub is great but not a dining pub - it has a very limited menu so I would recommend eating elsewhere.

A separate annex from our main home with its own dedicated access and parking, private kitchen and dining/seating area on the ground floor with everything you would need for a cozy meal. Upstairs to a large bedroom with king sized bed, double sofabed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Outside, there is a private courtyard with rattan table and chairs. The property was built in 2018 and is self contained, but close enough if you need us. Great for couples, solo travellers, families and pets.
This is brand new holiday rental accommodation with great access to the town of Battle and lots of close by attractions including Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle, Coastal towns of Hastings and Bexhill and Historical towns like Rye.
The attractive town of Battle gets it name from the Battle of Hastings, which was fought between Harold the Saxon king and William the Conqueror in 1066. The battle was so significant it changed the course of English history. The town grew up around the Abbey of St Martin which was built by William the Conqueror after the battle. It is said that William vowed that should he win the battle he would build such an abbey. The abbey was built between 1070 and 1094, and the high altar is believed to have been placed on the spot where Harold fell. Today the Abbey ruins and the battlefield are cared for by English Heritage and are well worth a visit. The imposing Abbey gatehouse built circa 1338 can be seen as you look down the length of the High Street. Battle has some notable Georgian buildings along its High Street. The cottages and houses near the Abbey date from around 1700. The parish church of St Mary was built in Norman times and for the most part is 12th century in construction. It offers the visitor rare 14th century wall paintings and a Norman font amongst other things. At the Northern end of the High Street can be found the Almonry which was built in 1090 and now houses the Town Council and the Battle Museum of Local History.

My place is in a quiet country village not far from Bodiam Castle. Nearby is the steam railway station for a quick journey to Bodiam and Tenterden. The Great Dixter House and beautiful gardens is situated within a 10 minutes walk from the house. The historic town of Rye with it's art and culture is close by with public transport. The bus stop to Tenterden, Hastings and Rye is just 50 metres away.
The Loft is a modern conversion with one double bedroom, plus a double sofabed in the open-plan living area. It consists of a small kitchenette area equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle and a toaster. Tea and coffee are also provided for your use, along with plates, cutlery and mugs. There is a  flat screen TV with DVD player and a small selection of DVD's are also provided for your use.  On the second floor there is a bathroom that would be exclusive for your own use. All bed linen and towels are supplied, and included in the price. The loft sleeps up to four people. There is a king size bed and a double size bed-settee which would sleep two children under the age of 10 or one adult. I also have a fold down bed if required. Car parking is also available in a private carport.
Two small supermarkets, Indian restaurant, cafe/coffee shop and fish and chip shop are all short distance away. Northiam is on the Kent/Sussex border and is an area of traditional pastureland, woods and rivers leading down to the nearby South Coast. The area is brimming with spectacular National Trust properties, historic homes and gardens. There is also the East Sussex Steam Railway, the pretty market town of Tenterden, the traditional fishing town of Hastings, the medieval smuggler's town of Rye and the famous 1066 battlefields from the Battle of Hastings. Bodiam Boating Station on the River Rother is only few minutes drive too. The place is just a 15min drive from the Kent/Sussex coast. Peaceful, beautiful, and super-comfortable in all seasons.

  • Such a relaxing stay in a scenic, secluded spot. Sitting out on the deck looking at the excellent view, watching the light fade and getting a fire going was lovely. Julia is a friendly and accommodating host, who quickly responded to questions but otherwise left us to our own devices. Late checkout on Sunday made the weekend feel much longer! Clean, stylish and quirky space, great for a break that's a bit different to the norm.

    Tim2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's tent is a dream. It combines the best things of both sides – you can hear the rain and wind like in a normal tent, but then take a hot bath while listening to it. Julia was very helpful and welcoming too, highly recommended!

    Carolin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute GEM of a place. The scenery alone is stunning, then add in the cosy, romantic (I think ideal for couples) spot in the woods and all the gorgeous finishing touches and you have yourself a truly perfect weekend. If you're on the fence... get off it. You will NOT regret booking barefoot in the woods and when the weekend is over, you'll rave about it to all your friends! The weather wasn't great when we were there but it made it all the more cosy. The fire never went out and we enjoyed doing all the camping-related fun bits without the actual camping <3

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Julies place is amazing! We were there when storm Dennis was on and it was still really cosy, warm and comfortable! The wood burning fire is amazing and the views are stunning. The bed is so comfy too! Would definitely recommend and be back!!

    Jess2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderfully relaxing weekend at Julia’s safari tent. She was a great host. In the midst of a cold rainy November I did question the logic of my booking a tent for the weekend as we were driving down... but it was just so cosy and warm sitting in front of the log burner, watching the fire and listening to rain on the tent. A really relaxing weekend, keen to stay again! Rye is a lovely town to visit too, lots of beautiful, historic, cobbled streets. Plenty of great cafes, and just 10 minutes away.

    Art2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience and lovely hospitality from Julia! Could not have stayed in a better place for a relaxing and peaceful (yet quirky) retreat into the woods! The pictures do not do the tent justice, it feels very spacious and has lots of thoughtful touches inside including ample supplies of wood, candles and local walks. Despite staying here in November the wood burner kept us nice and toasty and the bath was great after a long days walking. Could not recommend this any more if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, whilst having lots of places to go for day trips!

    Suzanne2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place, such a beautiful location and everything exceeded our expectations.

    Yulia2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy stay at Julia’s site. Even though the weather was wet, Very nice getting the fire going, and candles lit. We had a great bbq under cover, and the drive down was very pretty. We really enjoyed every part of our stay. Would love to visit again.

  • Absolutely beautiful space with amazing views, a comfy bed, fire and an awesome shower! Everything you need for an escape for a couple of days. The wood burner really keeps the cabin toasty too; we weren't cold at all even though it was February and stormy!

  • Carlys place was so lovely. We really felt like we were in a countryside retreat. The log fire and heated blankets made the place so cosy and we could really relax and get away from everything! Carly was very hospitable and left some food for us. She was also vey quick to reply when we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this place to stay!

    Ruth2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was so comfortable and cosy. Carly had gone the extra mile to make sure that it was so warm even in pouring with rain and windy February. The view out across the fields was so lovely. I loved lying in bed with a cuppa watching the horse and donkey.

    Rosanne2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I booked Carly's place for a much-needed weekend break. The communication beforehand was fantastic, including ensuring that the place was cosy with the fire roaring for our arrival. Carly was super welcoming, showing us the way to the cabin in the dark, helping with our bags and providing a wok when we fancied whipping up a stir fry - it felt as though nothing was too much bother. The space was wonderful - clean, comfortable and secluded. I would love to go back.

    Gemma2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Carly and Andrew's cabin - cosy, clean, and very comfortable. It's not far to get to from London but you feel properly 'away' and in the countryside. Plus, there are cute horses and ponies on the fields outside cabin! The hosts were friendly, helpful and made me feel at home. I'd happily return anytime.

  • Really lovely and cozy stay. The place is in a good location for walks and Carly is super friendly and on hand for any tips/questions. We stayed over December but there was more than enough to keep us warm (log burner, heaters, electric blanket). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Romantic 17th century English countryside house, near the medieval town of Rye and the coast. Located in the glorious Sussex Weald and 1066 country, with many National Trust gardens and castles.
Warm, archetypal English home. Ceilings are therefore quite low, but that is part of the charm! Free to use the kitchen and living room if so desired. Light continental breakfast included to help you on your way!
  • We enjoyed our stay at Benjamin/Christopher’s place. The house is full of quirk and character. Our two kids slept happily in one room, and we did too just across the hall. The bathroom (we had it to ourselves) was spacious and clean. We would recommend staying.

  • We had a peaceful and cosy stay here. We currently live in London but grew up in the country and it was wonderful to hear owls and see stars again. The wood burner worked beautifully and the castle and castle pub are just a walk away. We had two fantastic breakfasts in the Hub and everyone we met (both staff and customers) were friendly. We'll be back.

  • What a fantastic place. Our little hut was perfect for myself and my two boys (age 6 and 3). They shared a top bunk together and toasted marshmallows on the fire outside. The Hub cafe is wonderful and the river and beautiful walks are right next to the farm. We went to Bodiam Castle minutes up the road and went on the steam train, again next to the farm. Such a fantastic location and Anna welcomed us so warmly. We will be back next summer. An absolute gem. So highly recommended.

    Caroline2019-09-03T00:00:00Z

    Elaine2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • My family stayed at Quarry Farm in a shepherds hut for a week in August. We wished we had booked for longer. It was lovely! The hosts were friendly and relaxed. They had clearly given much thought to what guests might like and then taken pleasure in arranging the site around that. The cosy and well appointed hut we stayed in (which was in a wood next to a hillsides worth of cider orchard orchard) was in its own clearing near (but nicely not too near) to 3 others, all with their own space and fire pit (to my 4 year old’s delight, tripod and cast iron pots for cooking are provided, together with a massive stack of logs and kindling, huts themselves also have a little kitchen inside). Bathrooms were in another hut and were very clean, like all the facilities on site. The on-site cafe and play area were a total godsend. It was very handy to have a car, but I think you could fill your days just as nicely without one: there is a river, kayaking, Bodiam castle, steam railway which stops ( among other places) strolling distance from Great Dixter. The sea is about 20 min in a car and so is loads of other great stuff. We will be going back!

We have a lovey cottage in extremely beautiful AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) countryside located an equal distance between the towns of Hastings and Rye. We are set on a hill overlooking Bodiam Castle on the corner of a little village called Ewhurst Green. There are many picturesque walks directly from the cottage and a good pubs which is walking distance from us. We stand above the Tillingham Valley with the Castle and working steam railway sits and much wine is now made.
The cottage comprises of two double bedrooms, one with single beds and the other a double with the option of making into two singles, both have their own bathrooms. There is an upstairs mezzanine with its own bathroom which has a very comfortable and new Sofa bed that is also a double. The cottage is of a high spec throughout with all new and modern appliances and very fast Wi Fi. We provide a travel cot and dogs are welcomed. You have your own private drive and garden.
There are plenty of activities for children, including horse riding, paddle boarding and Kayaking 5 mins away on the river Rother, and the Kent and East Sussex steam railway which we also overlook. Equally the cottage serves as a quiet and resftul retreat if adult only.
  • Lovely place to get away. Host is thoughtful and friendly. Great lodge which was clean and cosy. Couldn’t have asked for more.

  • This is a great spot and lovely place. We felt very welcomed and comfy in Lynne’s well presented and sparkling clean cottage. If you’re thinking of booking, do it. Perfect combination of welcoming hosts who leave you to it and have set up a well-equipped cottage. Super comfy beds, great shower and deep bath. No immediate local shops so bring your supplies but bread, milk and eggs were provided on arrival along with basic cooking equipment. We cooked several meals there, using both the hob and oven and both were great. Enjoy.

  • Lynne's place was great! My friends and I stayed here for a weekend away to somewhere quiet to relax before Christmas and this was the perfect place! Checking in was very easy, and they had provided milk, butter, eggs and bread which was very nice. The area is lovely and quiet so it was perfect for a quiet getaway holiday. Could not have been better!

Enjoy serenity and privacy in your own part of a Sussex oast nestled in 2 acres of garden, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, 1 mile from the charming village of Salehurst. The ground-floor guest suite (accessed from its own garden) has bedroom (king size), a small sitting room and shower room. Enjoy breakfast before exploring local walks away from roads, ancient towns, historic houses, world-class gardens, castles, vineyards and the seaside in this beautiful pocket of SE England.
The guest suite is a separate living space from the house and comprises: a bedroom with king size double bed plus memory foam topper and top quality cotton linen (freshly ironed); a small sitting room with a two-seater sofa, TV (including Netflix, BBCiplayer and Amazon Prime), a table to take breakfast inside, and a tea/coffee station. French windows from the sitting room provide access to the terrace and garden. The oak-floored en-suite bathroom includes a walk-in shower, heated towel rail and electric shaver point. There is, of course, wifi. Table and chairs outside are there for you to use on the terrace or in the garden. Please note there is no fridge and the space in not suitable for self-catering.
We are situated in a very rural location, down a half mile private drive near the River Rother, surrounded by hop gardens, woodland and open countyside, well away from roads. This is a wonderful corner of East Sussex, with great pubs, walks, country houses and castles (Bodiam, Bateman's, Finchcocks and Scotney), world-class gardens (Great Dixter and Sissinghurst), the historic town of Battle (1066 and all that, only 10 mins away), Hastings Old Town with interesting antique shops and great fish - straight off the beach - and chips, hipster St Leonards with its quirky shops and restaurants, the smart spa town of Tunbridge Wells (good restaurants and shopping), and if you're keen on art the Jerwood in Hastings and the stunning, modernist De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill. The delightful town of Rye filled with art, antiques and history is also near. Robertsbridge (5 minutes by car, 20 minutes charming walk) has a great French cafe (Judges) and a quirky pub (The Ostrich). There is a wonderful walk, away from roads, along farm tracks and footpaths, past hop gardens and a fine 13th Century church, to the well loved Halt pub, which does great food and views. If you're a keen walker there is great choice, from the magical Fairlight cliffs, Bedgebury Pinetum, Battle Great Wood, Brede Wood, Bewl Water (reservoir) and the beaches from Winchelsea to Rye, including the impressive beaches and dunes at Camber.
  • We stayed at Serena's place for a weekend away and loved it! The place is separate from the main house with well kept gardens and lovely surrounding countryside, and has everything you require provided for a stay. Serena and Ian were hospitable and kind. They absolutely went the extra mile to ensure that we felt welcomed and at home, and were exemplary hosts. We had two lovely breakfasts prepared by them. They also have great dogs that enthusiastically greeted us each time we came back. I couldn't recommend this place enough - it offers a fantastic countryside retreat.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Oast House, hosted by Ian & Serena. Their local knowledge for places to visit, places to eat and local walks came in very useful. The room was clean and in a peaceful location with a close link to the A21, a great place as a base to see the local area, half an hour to the coast at Camber Sands. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return in June/July next year. :-)

    Mike2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Serena and Ian are excellent hosts, extremely welcoming, lovely breakfast and cosy room.

    Sandra2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolute gem of a find! Beautiful oast house accommodation, super attentive hosts but with your own privacy respected. Serena and Ian are charming and can't do enough to help make your stay comfortable. We walked into Robertsbridge (just 15-20 mins) one evening and had a great meal at New Spice Indian restaurant. The other evening we walked to the Saleshurst Halt pub across footpaths (15 mins) and had a fab meal there too. We walked to Bodiam along the river and did a vineyard tour at Oastbrook , plus had a wander around the castle. There were plenty of lovely shorter walks all recommended by the hosts and easy to use maps were provided. There is so much to see and do in the local area - lovely gardens, national trust properties, great pubs and the seaside only a short drive away. You could spend a week here and still not visit everything! We would love to have stayed longer and will definitely come back. Five stars all round from us.

  • Lovely property in quiet countryside location. The suite is very private with its own beautiful garden to sit out and enjoy breakfast or stargaze. 7 mins cycle or 20/25 mins walk from the train station so very doable even if you don’t have a car, and there are nice walks and bike rides from your doorstep. Serena and Ian were amazing hosts, we loved having a chat with you and it’s clear you really care about the comfort of your guests. Breakfast was amazing!!!!!! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend, we hope to make it back again some day.

    Linda2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge was clean, stylish and in a beautiful setting. Sadly we never got to meet O (as he was away) but he quickly responded to messages and provided some great documents full of recommendations of places to visit, places to eat and more which really helped us to find the local gems! Highly recommended

    John2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, location. We found the place after a few wrong turns as the country road is very hard to miss as its a private road. Very cute modern design of interior. Bed had electric blankets to keep us warm and bungalow was kept very warm. Tv which had freeview. Lighting very good and can be dimmed. Hob and microwave provided. Little Negatives but not much: poor WiFi for Netflix & no oven.
