  • Amazing place to stay! Keith is a lovely, friendly host and was on hand if we needed him. Cosy cabin with everything you could possibly need... and more! Hot tub was amazing and great at night time. Would definitely recommend as it is great if you want somewhere to stay near Brighton!

  • What an amazing stay! Keith was brilliant and picked us up from the train station to take us to the lodge. We checked in early and left our bags and went on a lovely walk waiting for the lodge to be ready. We used the hottub in the rain (highly recommend!!) and enjoyed some Prosecco. Keith also recommended us a local pub and even dropped us off. The breakfast in the morning was sublime with about 10 different elements. Couldn’t recommend this place more for a couple who want an evening away to relax in the country side.

    Frances2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a fabulous stay! A very warm welcome from start to finish. The cabin is lovely & cosey. Perfect for a rainy day and we hope to return in the summer! 10/10 breakfast.

    Tanya2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was immaculate. It had every little thing that we need. The place is just extremely comfortable and makes wanna own a log cabin. The food was very delicious and hot tub was so relaxing. I highly recommend the place as it has a nice view of the mount during day time and amazing sunset. The garden at night was just magical and we had a good privacy. Highly recommend the place especially for couples

Our timber clad garden pod is up-market glamping, with a view to the Downs. Close to Brighton and a walk across fields to the village. On sunny days, open up the folding sliding doors and enjoy a drink on the decking.
The pod is just over an hour from London and 20 minutes or so from Brighton. At the end of the garden of our Sussex farmhouse, the view is through the trees and towards the Downs. The pod has a comfortable double bed, sofa, table and chairs. There's a shower room and a small kitchen area, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle. (The hot water is from a small tank, so showers need to be very speedy, hence ‘glamping’ ) For heat, there's a wood-burning stove and a basic electric heater. It's just a few minutes walk across fields to the village of Hurstpierpoint, with several pubs and places to eat. You will have your own key and can come and go as you like. The pod uses the same driveway as the main house, with plenty of room for parking. The house is approached down a rutted farm track, so best not to bring a low slung car! Although there's no fencing between the pod area and the farmhouse garden, directly in front of the pod there's its own area of lawn and a magnolia tree, with a stream beyond. There's also easy access to a footpath to the village across a bridge in the garden. If you have a dog who can be trusted without fences, then he or she is welcome. We have a friendly black labrador called Monty. Tim, Pippa and family are very happy to help with any queries about the pod or beyond. Monty the labrador will almost certainly bring an old shoe to welcome you. We are close to the Downs National Park, as well as having Brighton 20 minutes away. So if you want to walk and visit the village, then it's easy. But it's equally easy to pop into Brighton for sea air or shopping. We are located close to the A23. The nearest station is Hassocks, which is 10/15 minutes by cab. This is the Brighton line to London Bridge/ Victoria. Gatwick airport is 30 minutes by car. There is a limited bus service to Brighton from the top of the track (10 minute walk to the bus stop from the pod). There's also cycle hire at the station in Hassocks: (URL HIDDEN) The pod has its quirks. Squirrels sometimes like to frolic on the flat roof and if it rains heavily with the wind in the wrong direction, you might get a bit of rain down the chimney. Of course, we think that the good quirks outweigh the imperfections. You will find eggs from our hens on the sideboard and a bowl of fruit when you arrive. Plus the ingredients for tea and coffee. The double bed will be made up and there will be clean towels.
We are close to the Downs National Park, as well as having Brighton 20 minutes away. So if you want to walk and visit the village, then it's easy. But it's equally easy to pop into Brighton for sea air or shopping.
  • Lovely little spot, everything I needed, total privacy and relaxing space. Nice to know the hosts were there if I needed them but lovely to be left in peace, sweet touches with dairy supplies & flowers too. Mostly I just loved having the Woodburner for company. My dog and I had a much needed break, and I can recommend the area too. Great hosts, great space. Thank you

    Sam2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first pod experience but have done a lot of camping/tenting. This is by far nicer. Loved being in the country, hostes were so kind and thoughtful. Felt right at home. Nice location to do quite a bit of sight seeing and just resting with a good book and warm fire. Took our two small dogs and it was perfect for them. No fencing but they are home bods so it was no problem they could go out with no fear of roads and explore. Lovely stream by pod . In summer it must be extra beautiful. So glad to have met this family, they crept into our hearts. Pod is private and away from their home so it was very nice for a rest and just time to unwinde. Can walk into town with lots if little places to eat. Large Tesco just+-2.5 miles away. Amazed what I could cook in just a microwave. Bottle of creamy milk from hostess was delicious. Thank you to Pippa and Tim.

    Marie2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication and a lovely host, being flexible with an extra day at short notice. Lovely little space and the perfect way to end the day - peaceful and very relaxing. I stayed with my 2 dogs who had a great time and they loved the space. It is very comfortable and the perfect retreat. The extra touches were much appreciated and waking up to that view certainly started the day well!

  • Great little recluded get away still not to far from Brighton

    William2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was our second time at the tiny house and it was great again. Pippa and her husband are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place.

    Klara2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay, very accommodating hosts, peaceful little haven, very comfy bed with a lovely view and I loved making myself a little fire. The weather was torrential rain but it was still nice and cost. Definitely recommend thanks again Pippa and Tim.

    Mandy2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • The pod was a great find for a couple of nights peace and quiet for my partner, our dog and I in the new year. We just wanted a retreat in the countryside with no tv. It was as described and we got really toasty with the log burner on! we did a 5 mile walk from the back garden (very muddy thanks to Pippa for the reminder to being wellies!) and walked to the Horse Inn for a lovely meal (10mins walk). Would defo recommend.

    Emma2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a amazing place to come and just chill out away from busy life. The cabin has everything you need to have a cozy stay, big windows over looking fields it is a very chilled place to sit in bed with a coffee and book. Pippa is a brilliant host, great communication in the lead up to our stay, was there to greet us and show us around the cabin when we arrived, and left us with everything we would need for our stay. The village is lovely, with a few pubs and restaurants to spend the day in if you don't want to go too far. The highlight has to be Pippa's dog Monty, who came and sat with me and my partner on the first evening in the cabin, such a friendly guy. Had a brilliant weekend here.

Full sized double bed and two single day beds. Outdoor area. All bedding and towels are included in the cost of your stay.
Le Grande Roulotte is bohemian and full of character. We have included a well equipped family bathroom (with a shower, sink and toilet), a kitchenette (with small refrigerator, induction hob and microwave), a full sized double bed and two single day beds making this a real family holiday home. An Oak table with stools pulls out to provide an eating space for 4 people. There is storage under the beds for clothes and suitcases and a hanging clothes rail is in the cupboard under the TV. Built from sustainable timber with energy efficient materials such as sheep's wool insulation (floor, walls, roof) and A rated windows, the Roulotte is warm even in the winter months. A heated towel rail and an electric wood burner provide the main source of heating.
There’s so much to do and see in the area, from walking, cycling or horse riding along the South Downs Way, exploring the Sussex Heritage Coast, visiting sleepy villages and historic market towns, to experiencing opera at the world famous Glyndebourne. We are about a mile away from the South Downs Way and the famous Jack and Jill Windmills. • Had a wonderful long weekend in Paul’s roulotte, which was cosy with welcome touches. The rainy weather did not dampen our stay and the roulotte was well equipped with enough room for 4. The location was excellent with the station not far walk and just one stop to Brighton. Thanks Paul, we’ll be back!

    Shannon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    Ingrid2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Not a bad word to say about staying in Paul's Roulotte! We visited for two nights for my birthday and it was just perfect. We stayed in January and it was so lovely and warm, cosy, comfortable and sparkling clean. The shower was fantastic, Paul was a fab host with excellent communication and some lovely touches. Already recommended it to friends and family. Thank you Paul!

  • La roulotte was perfect for our short stay. Petit and super charming, ideally located for access to Brighton and the downs. Will definitely be back!!!

Recently renovated stable to accommodate two guest looking for a quiet space over looking a beautiful shared garden and views of the South Downs. Consisting of a cosy lounge and wet room to the ground floor and a double bed and storage on the mezzanine floor. Beautifully decorated with underfloor heating, oak beams and flooring ensure a cosy and relaxing stay. Internet enabled tv and WiFi is available if you need to keep in touch or take in the varied woodland walks that surround if not!
Covid 19. We are not longer using outside cleaners, we are doing it all ourselves using gloves to minimise contact. All surfaces are sprayed with disinfectant between each bookings and all towels and linens washed thoroughly. Escape it all in the country. The Stable is situated just outside of Hurstpierpoint Village at the bottom of Wolstonbury Hill. This is an ideal place for keen walkers or if you just want to surround yourself with wildlife. Wolstonbury Hill has been an important landmark for thousands of years. Iron Age farmers grazed animals on its summit and the Romans left pottery remains on its slopes. In wartime Britain Winston Churchill and members of the war cabinet met at nearby Danny House and would allegedly visit the slopes of Wolstonbury for inspiration.
Set in a secluded part of the south downs you are surrounded by nature and the elements. There are more animals than people! There are two neighbouring cottages and a barn, other than that its fields and woods as far as the eye can see. Wolstonbury Hill is part of the South Downs National Park and you can explore it via some lovely walking trails. It will takes you through beech woodland at the base of the hill and across open grassland to the top of the hill. Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and the downs including Newtimber Hill and Devil's dyke. Hurstpierpoint Village is about 20-30 minutes walk from the Stable. The village offers coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and there is also a local Co-op.
  • Lovely place for a relaxing short break, hot tub was amazing and the hosts were lovely. Would love to head back there once a year for a little get away.

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend The Stable to anyone without question! Phil and Beata were so attentive if we needed anything and showed us everything we needed to know. Such a beautiful place to stay and relax. Loved the thoughtful touches like the homemade vodka and the eggs from the chickens, both were delicious! The birthday note and cake left for my boyfriend (it was a present for his birthday) was such a lovely touch. Loved being out in the open and seeing all of the animals, especially Teddy, Betty and Daisy! Would love to come back :)

    Levi2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely peaceful location, Phil and Beata are amazing hosts - the cake and card for my partner was really thoughtful thank you. We will definitely be returning for another stay soon.

    Nick2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The stable was a perfect stay. It was even cozier than it looked in the photos. We had everything we needed to make it a practical stay and the hot tub Beata and Phil kept endlessly hot for us was a little slice of heaven. Great hosts that were friendly and contactable when ever we had any questions. Also had a lovely meal at the Shepard & Dog (a great pub with fire in a quaint nearby village).

    Bradley2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Location was stunning and the property was exactly as we'd hoped. Tiny but very cute and perfect for couples. Complimentary coffee eggs and milk, and also some berry vodka which went down very well! Lots of scenic walks in the area and the hot tub was in a great setting. Thanks to Phil and Beata for a lovely couple of nights!

    George2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, perfect hide-out for escape from the city; Beata and Phil were friendly from start to finish, house is ever so cosy with floor heating, wonderful shower and cosy bed, offers all essential facilities including induction hob. perfect - highly recommended

    Anika2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find nicer hosts. We had a really lovely break away and loved being greeted by chickens in the morning. The hot tub in the evening was amazing. Sat under the stars and it was so peaceful. We would recommend a stay here! It’s also a 30 min drive from Brighton! Do go and check out hurstpier village. We had a roast at The New Inn as recommended by the hosts and it was the most incredible food! One of the best roasts we’ve ever had.

    Terri-Anne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our short break at The Stable was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable, both hosts were welcoming and answered any queries we had. They gave us good recommendations for dinner and drinks in the local town, as well as good walking routes. Having a hot tub is an added bonus too!

Happy for you to use the kitchen facilities, fridge/freezer with ice machine and plumbed in water, oven, microwave, kettle and toaster but bare in mind that rooms other than your bedroom and bathroom are shared with me. Your bathroom has a toilet, power shower and a basin, along with a mirror and during your stay, will be exclusively for you. You are welcome to use the garden as well, which is laid with AstroTurf and decking and you would probably be accompanied by my dog Bingo, who loves a bit of sunbathing ! There is wifi and an iron and board if you require them, also happy for you to use the washing machine for a small donation towards the cost of running and detergent. The upstairs area is not for guests, as that is the family bedrooms and my sanctuary ! I am usually in the living room of an evening, which the garden is accessible through. I am friendly and happy for you to join me in there if you are partial to a soap or drama, but equally happy for you to have the privacy of your own room.
There are 3 pubs and 3 shops within 10 minutes walk, and a chip shop less than 5 minutes walk. The industrial estates are around a 10 minute walk, and the town centre around 15-20 minute walk. There are many takeaways in and around the town and the local chippy is less than 5 minutes walk from my house. CAE/Roche/Amex are no more than around 20 minute walk away, so perfect if you are working at one of these businesses.

Our unique Ecopod was handcrafted in Wales, it is beautifully insulated with sheep wool and has a lovely smell of wood. The large double glazing doors allow you to make the most of sunlight, you are in the sunniest spot of the garden! The village has everything you need, four independent coffee shops, one bakery and two supermarkets. Further down you have the beautiful Hurstpierpoint, Ditchiling and Lewes, if you fancy more action, Brighton is 10 minutes away. FULLY HEATED for colder days.
We are close to the Downs National Park, as well as having Brighton 20 minutes away. So if you want to walk and visit the village, then it's easy. But it's equally easy to pop into Brighton for sea air or shopping. We are located close to the A23. The nearest station is Hassocks, which is 10 minutes walk from us. This is the Brighton line to London Bridge/ Victoria. Gatwick airport is 30 minutes by car. There's also cycle hire at the station in Hassocks, which is a 10 minute walk from our house. Hurstpierpoint is a nearby village with lots of shops and some great pubs, 5 minutes by car or 40 minutes walking. You also have Lewes, Plumpton, Ditchling to visit. Cyclists and hikers are also welcome. There are two "cycling cafes" nearby Proper Cycling here in Hassocks and Velusso in Ditchling. Pubs include The Bull, The Thatched Inn, Jack and Jill Inn, The Hassocks and more. We have a curry and chinese restaurant on the High Street as well as Fish and chips and Kebab Take away. Finally a local lady called Carly delivers amazing afternoon teas, she organizes everything and even takes the dirty plates away so you don't have to worry about the washing up check Carly's Afternoon Teas on Facebook. THE POD SELF CHECK IN AVAILABLE AND OWN ACCESS INDEPENDENT FROM MAIN HOUSE. The PODis tucked away on a corner of our family garden. It is NOT secluded and I think is not ideal for romantic weekends. If not sure please message me BEFORE booking. You will have your own independent access to the Pod. The sofa opens into a cosy double bed. Blankets and duvet provided. Own indoor kitchen area: microwave, small fridge, kettle, tea/ coffee facilities and crockery. There is no cooker so you cannot make your meals from scratch. You can buy lovely meals from COOK at our local Budgens or eat out at one of the local pubs restaurants (BOOKING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) You have WI FI and TV (with Amazon Fire stick), internet can be slow at times but it is normally good. You can also have a hammock on the veranda of the Pod, we have one should you wish to relax in the Sun. There will also be a selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits for you. IF YOU CAN'T FIND THE DATES YOU WANT PLEASE MESSAGE ME AS I MAY HAVE A LAST MINUTE CANCELLATION OR THE DATES ARE BLOCKED AND NOT YET AVAILABLE.
The Thatched Inn is a couple of minutes walk and has good food and brilliant service ( please book to guarantee a table as they get busy) Southdowns nursery: lovely garden centre where you can have coffee, cake or nice meal at their restaurant. You can also buy beer, gifts and locally sourced produce. Bake out: small bakery and coffee house; 5 minutes walking. Butcher: is very friendly and has an amazing selection of meat for your BBQ. Train station: 8/10 minutes walk Walking trails: several around us, you can easily walk to Ditchiling, and other villages Mac's Farm: In Ditchiling, excellent for fresh eggs Wineries: Albourne, Ridgeview etc
  • Exactly as described. Cute little eco-shed in the back garden of Erica’s family home. You can slip in & out without any trouble & the small space is fine for a couple. Right by the South Downs for a couple of nice walks.

    Steve2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Joanna’s was lovely! I had just started a new job in the area and needed somewhere to stay while waiting for my own place to be ready, and Joanna’s home was perfect. Good location, lovely house, and great hospitality. I had access to everything I needed, and the freedom to go in and out as I pleased. Joanna was very friendly and I really enjoyed chatting to her and other guests of an evening over dinner or just about the house. I felt very welcome and very much at home. Travelling alone I was a little nervous but I felt safe and comfortable in Joanna’s house. The room was cosy, had what I needed for the few nights I was there, and it was the perfect space to relax in before sleeping. I’d happily stay with Joanna again and would definitely recommend her home. :)

The bedroom is a large newly refurbished double bedroom with a bay window in a large detached family home. It is a bright and airy modern room. The floor is insulated wooden flooring and has a new radiator, so is very cosy. Bedding and towels plus kettle and drinks will be provided. The room has wardrobe and draw space plus a built in desk area with plug points - useful for a student or a business visitor. The house is also very close to the station with regular trains to London and Brighton.
It is a family home and there are two children living here. They are really well behaved children nonetheless if guests don't like children in their accommodation then this won't be the place for you :). This is also a musical house and there is a piano etc. Music practice will happen usually in early evening but not at unsocial hours and is rather pleasant. I should draw this to guests attention as not everyone will like this.
It is a quiet residential area so if someone is looking for a peaceful stay then this is the place. We are on the very edge of town and by a nature reserve close to lots of lovely walks and places to visit in the Southdown national park and the beautiful Sussex Countryside. We are also close to the Coast for those that want a bit of beach life.

  • Jennie was a fantastic host. I don't think that anyone else could improve the role she demonstrated. She welcomed us to do a tour of her home for us and was so warm and friendly that after an hour or so, we felt like we'd known her for years. Her home was lovely and comfortable and she gave us plenty of tips during our stay there. The value was superb too. A perfect weekend. Thank you Jennie!

The driveway of this mainly arable working farm is a bit bumpy in places & liable to be muddy. Breakfast is included with cream teas and dinner also available on request.
This Double room is small and is north facing with views over the fields towards the river. Tea and coffee facilities are in the room. There is drawer, shelving and hanging space for guests clothing. Although it doesn’t have a radiator on the central heating system there is an electric heater in the room
Set in the countryside just five minutes walk from the Downs Link for walking and cycling. It is a quiet area, although the local wildlife (duck on the pond and foxes roaming) can be noisy sometimes!
  • This was the second time we stayed at Great Betley House. We stayed in Meadow View. The facilities were great and everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was as tasty as ever. Kim gave us great advice about the local village and the surrounding countryside. We had a lovely walk along the nearby river. Kim always goes the extra mile. I thoroughly recommend it as lovely place to visit.

  • Beautiful countryside and settings and a very nice traditional breakfast . Kim is a very kind attentive host, i felt most welcome .

  • Our stay at Kim's was very pleasent. Exactly what we were looking for. A remote farmhouse surrounded by nature. Her welcome and hospitality were unique. She made sure we had everything we needed. If you need some fresh air look no further.

    Hadrien2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • An interesting older property with all the facilities. Even though we shared a bathroom, it all worked very well. There is a wonderful bedroom with it's own facilities, but I don't want to let you into that secret because we will want it when we next visit!

    Marietta2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kim is a great host who went out of her way to accommodate me. The old farm house is just wonderful and the bathroom I used really nicely done up and modern but the house maintains it original features and come with stunning views. Great for walkers, runners, cyclists and time out and away in the country. The drive way tricky after the intense rain we have had but I trust this will improve once the weather improves and dries up. Friendly dogs live in the house and were a pleasure for me. Good breakfast too.

  • Flawless, Kim is the perfect host!

  • Kim was a great host: fast communication, very welcoming - even asking about dietary preferences - and the location was lovely. Would definitely recommend to others.

The stable flat is a recently converted one bedroom apartment decorated in a light modern style yet retaining some of the natural brick features of its origins. It is part of a stable yard that is no longer in use (guests with horses are welcome to use the stables by arrangement ). It sits in a property of about 3 acres and guests are welcome to enjoy the picturesque garden and small patch of woodlands that form part of the property. Easy access to Brighton, Hickstead, Gatwick and Nymans gardens
The Stable Flat has it's own entrance off Colwood Lane. It has spacious car parking for two cars and a patio garden. It also has the vacant stabling block and riding school so that the overall impression is of spaciousness. The property is all electric and hence does not need a carbon monoxide detector. The aspect is rural with quiet country lanes, many trees and much bird and other animal life. However it is close to major transport links and it's convenience for most of mid-Sussex.
We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the High Weald landscape trail. There are many local footpaths and opportunities for pleasant walks. Attractive local drinking and dining opportunities are offered by the Bolney Stage which is less than a mile from the property or the Half Moon or Eight Bells which are within 2 miles. Similarly close is the Bolney Estate Vineyard which offers tours and wine tastings in addition to its restaurant and bar. It is close to Nymans, Borde Hill, High Beeches, Leonardslee, Sheffield Park and Wakehurst gardens. It is only 4 miles to Hickstead show ground.
  • Fantastic little cottage in a beautiful location close to Brighton. The accommodation is like a home from home, spotlessly clean and the nice touches such as chocolates were much appreciated. Philip and Zillah were great hosts and we can't wait to return to explore the local area when the weather is better! Thank you from Paul & Caroline from Yorkshire!

    Paul2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really rural and relaxing location. Lots of places to walk the dog very peaceful. The Stable was warm and comfortable with everything you could need. I would highly recommend this location and accommodation.

  • Philip & Zillah are fantastic hosts. The flat is beautiful, clean, comfortable & peaceful. Our dog Thor enjoyed running through out the property grounds. Thank you for the treats & blanket for Thor. The Stable Flat is very well equipped with everything you need. Philip & Zillah respond quickly. We loved the book of information provided very informative and detailed. I would 100% recommend to stay at their property.

    Stefania2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Philip and Zilla’s is always easy, restful and a calm haven. The flat is lovely and the surroundings peaceful and beautiful. They are easy to communicate with, flexible and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend it especially if you have pets. My dogs love to sit by the window and watch for squirrels and other wildlife. There are lovely walks close by too.

    Mary Jane2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you have high standards then this is the place for you! Well equipped with luxurious towels and bedding. There was washing up liquid, washing powder and dishwasher tablets with plenty of tea towels and dish cloths (no need to bring your own). Situated in a very quiet spot but close to Horsham and Crawley for the shops. We only did one walk on the roads but it was very pleasant and saw some lovely houses. Would highly recommend this place.

    Vanessa2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's place was an excellent accommodation with all the facilities you need to have a relaxed break in an area with beautiful scenery. The information about walks in the neighbourhood were highly appreciated by our dog and us of course.

Great views of Devils Dyke area. Amazing South Downs walks as we are situated inside the National Park and only 5 miles from Brighton. The village pub across the road has a beer garden and restaurant. A 15 minute walk to award winning local garden centre, deli and cafe (Rushfields). On the Bus route into Brighton, a car is recommended but not essential. The resident cat would appreciate feeding during your stay.
The home is really warm and cosy and recently completely renovated. A large kitchen diner opens out onto marvellous views, ideal for day dreaming or inspiring you to get out and enjoy the countryside. There are 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a very comfortable pull out bed, which can be made up as a single or kingsize.
A rural retreat where you can feel as though you are at the top of the world (well almost), within a 15 minute walk up various routes to the top of Devils Dyke, part of the South Downs Way.
  • Claudia and Andrew are so easy to work with. Their home is lovely, nestled right in the village with a wonderful backyard garden.

    Kelley2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Have to say this was an amazing find. The place was absolutely spotless and that back garden was just a gem to sit in the sun and drink wine in. Truly one of airbnb's finest.

    Sajad2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home with a lovely garden and stunning views of the Downs. You can walk for hours in gorgeous countryside, straight from the house. We would very much like to return.

  • Superbly relaxing, stylish, quiet and homely with all you need for a restorative weekend away.

    Ruth2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia & Andrew’s home exceeded expectations. A wonderful bright space with a glorious garden and beautiful views across the Downs. The place was spotless with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a warm and welcoming feeling. It’s also in a very lovely village, right in the heart of the South Downs National Park - great for walking holidays. Highly recommended, and we will certainly be back.

    Michael2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a really lovely spot. Perfect for our little family - our toddler loved the garden (and the beautiful cat), not to mention the great play area in the (excellent) pub immediately opposite. Claudia and Andrew were great hosts. Highly recommended.

  • Claudia and Andrew's place is beautiful, peaceful and spotless! It has everything you need inside and out. We didn't meet our hosts as they were away but we met lots of the neighbours in the village who were lovely. I would stay here again without hesitation, one of my favourite airbnb's so far on my travels.

Quiet cosy 1860s cottage on a footpath in the heart of Ditchling, a relaxing country escape. Contemporary design alongside woodburner, rolltop bath and comfy sofas to fall into after a walk on the South Downs or a long lunch in the local award winning pub. Cafes, shops, museum of arts & crafts, cycling and wine tasting at local vineyards nearby. Brighton, Lewes, Glyndebourne, Charleston, Plumpton Racecourse and the sea are all close; London is 55 minutes by train.
In the double bedroom on the first floor overlooking the footpath, there’s a stylish, comfortable Feather & Black bed with luxurious linens, throws and cushions for lazy lie ins. A wardrobe provides plenty of hanging space and there’s a chest of drawers. The bathroom features a rolltop bath, walk in monsoon shower and DAB radio. Downstairs there is an open plan lounge diner with wooden floors throughout. Unwind on the comfy sofas by the woodburner; relax in front of the television or with a magazine. The comfortable deep sofa sleeps one person. The British Standard marble topped kitchen is well equipped with oven, induction hob, fridge freezer, washing machine & dryer, toaster and dining table that seats four people. The stable door leads onto the sunny east facing patio and garden with a table and bench seating. Wifi and good mobile reception. Logs provided. Complimentary tea, coffee and starter food pack. Free parking in the village hall car park, a three minute walk away. Bikes can be left at the front of the house or back garden. Dogs allowed but not upstairs. No smoking.
Ditchling is a really friendly, creative village at the foot of the South Downs with lots to see and do. Awardwinning pub The Bull serves wonderful food, wine and local beers and is just a 2 minute walk. The Green Welly cafe, again a 2 minute walk, is great for breakfast or a light lunch. The Ditchling Museum of Arts & Crafts is well worth a visit on the village green and next door to the duck pond. Many wonderful walks in the local countryside, either up Ditchling Beacon or along the foot of the Downs; definitely bring wellies or walking boots. Cyclists love the area and the challenge of getting up Ditchling Beacon! There's a great cycling cafe in the next village, Hassocks. Several local vineyards for wine tasting, especially Ridgeview on the edge of the village.
  • A really lovely cottage, very cosy and amazing to have a wood burning stove to keep it nice and warm. Beautifully decorated with lots of thoughtful touches. The bath and shower were particularly luxurious and the kitchen had everything we needed. Jane was really welcoming too, such a nice place that it was hard to leave and explore the village. Ditchling was easy to get to by train from London, about 25 minutes walk from Hassocks station. A great little place with good walks, a craft museum, local jewelers and a couple of great pubs. Would definitely come back!

  • Jane was a fantastic host and her house is truly beautiful. The hose is expertly decorated and has some great stylish touches. The location is great for trips to Lewes & Brighton. Jane was very welcoming and even left a little gift for us as it was my partners birthday.

Located in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this beautifully converted old dairy can accommodate two people looking for an authentic country experience. Just metres away from the South Downs National Park, on a friendly working farm, the property boasts direct access to a number of stunning country walks.
Just a 5 minute walk away from the property is the village of Hurstpierpoint, which has a range of pubs and independent restaurants and shops. A 10 minute drive (or 20 minute walk) is the village of Hassocks, where the mainline routes to London, Gatwick and Brighton (10 minute journey) run regularly, as well as a local taxi and bus service. The property is a self-contained annex that forms part of a converted barn and dairy. The barn was built in the 1600s whilst the dairy is a little younger at only 200 years old so plenty of exposed beams and history. The land surrounding the property is a working sheep farm. The Dairy comprises a bedroom with a double bed, chest of drawers (a hanging rail can be provided on request), full length mirror and a television. There is also a small but well equipped kitchen with microwave, mini oven, hob, fridge-freezer and a washing machine. There is a breakfast bar with stools that looks on to a pretty walled garden. There is also a separate shower and toilet. If there is anything else that you need please ask as we can probably provide it. The property also has a raised deck area with amazing views to the South Downs- ideal for that end of the day drink.
  • My stay here was a fuss-free, comfortable and quiet relaxing night. Everything I needed was provided, including some tasty sweets! The place was very clean and the bed was great. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely stay here.

  • The dairy is a lovely space perfect for a countryside getaway. We loved that we could walk straight from the property into the countryside and explore, but equally we could walk (5-10mins) to the pubs, shops and restaurants in Hurstpierpoint. It's ideal for not having to use the car at all during your stay! The space itself has a well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and wonderful outdoor space for a morning cuppa. Peter is very friendly and knowledgable about the area and we would definitely visit again!

    Louisa2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend this lovely spot. Peter was very welcoming and the 'Dairy' was a lovely place to stay. Thank you Peter!

    Natalie2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The dairy is a lovely space down a quiet lane, in easy walking distance to the village centre. Hassocks is a few minutes along the road and, from there, only a 10 minute train journey to Brighton. I had everything I needed and I was warm and cosy all weekend. Peter is a friendly host who welcomed me to the property and made a point of popping out to say goodbye but otherwise left me to enjoy the peace and quiet. I hope to return.

    Harry2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Laura has a really nice cabin in such an amazing location , the views are amazing and the peace and serenity there was just what we needed on our little break away from the City rate race of London . Laura kindly left some tea, coffee , milk , cereal and bread so we could fix up a breakfast ourselves . The cabin was so cosy and even had a tv so one night we stayed in and relaxed . The pictures show all the amenities but we found it much better than the pictures show , I guess you can’t capture the sense of being in the South Downs in a cosy cabin ! Laura was really helpful , giving us details prior to check in and during our stay she was quick tow respond or help if we had any queries .We will definitely return , our stay was just perfect !

  • This is an absolute gem of a place - I can’t rate it highly enough. It’s all down to the hosts going that extra mile to make things comfortable and easy with a lovely atmosphere thrown in. Deserves more than five stars.

    Cheryl2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Oliver were amazing hosts. They are a very kind and thoughtful couple. We had a great time sharing our stories about all the travels. They offered to give me a lift from work one evening when the weather was bad. There is also some light breakfast every morning which is very thoughtful. This is probably one of the best Airbnb’s I have ever stayed at. I would definitely recommend staying at their place.

    Asma2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Anna and Oliver's flat. It is modern, very clean and very well equipped. We loved the little touches, such as chocolates to greet us. It was easy to check in. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately we were busy, so we didn't meet Anna and Oliver until we were about to leave. We would highly recommend staying here and we hope to come back next time we are in the area.

    Paul2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Oliver and Anna’s Air b&b was our first experience of Air b&b and we didn’t regret it. The only slight problem we had was finding the address due to a road being closed. When we arrived, we knew Oliver and Anna were going to be out but they had left clear instructions including photos of how to get the keys and how to get into the flat. We entered the flat and found our room which was very nicely decorated and very clean. My husband was pleased to see a lovely touch that chocolate has been left on the bedside which he promptly ate !!! Included with the room is a very clean bathroom which is just across the hall. Towels were also provided. We had a good nights sleep, the bed was very comfy. The area is nice and quiet apart from the odd hoot from a passing owl which was nice. We didn’t meet Oliver and Anna until the morning, they were on their way out but made time for a chat. They are a lovely couple and made us feel very welcome. Anna had left out cereal and or toast and tea / coffee for breakfast which is all we would have at home anyway. Thanks to Oliver and Anna our first experience of Air b&b was very pleasant and their home is lovely. Julie and Chris Cox

The only “issue” we had is that In the ad it specifies Kitchen as one of the amenities yet only a microwave and fridge are provided. There often is a bbq but this time it wasn’t ready. Nonetheless, Joanna apologized for the inconvenience and let us cook the dinner on her personal oven. So all good at the end! :)

  • Joanna is a lovely, hospitable host, very kind, welcoming and relaxed. Her place has the nicest outdoor seating area I've seen, bar none. I mean, in the world, not just in an Airbnb, 5 star hotels included - very 'hygge' welcoming and stylish. The welcome loaf of home made bread is to die for, and I got home made marmalade and jam too, which were a highlight. Everything inside is new and stylish too. It's easy to walk into the village of Hurstpierpoint, and at 3 miles, Hassocks station is walkable too - and only an hour from London. Perfect for a dose of country relaxation, thank you!

  • Cute little place. Lovely bread and marmalade! Comfortable bed.

    Jo2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little place to stay. Well equipped and the fresh bread and jams were great! Shame was not here a couple more nights to eat the rest of the loaf of bread!! Recommended for a stay away from it all in a great location

    Martin2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need for a short stay. Lovely touches with fresh bread, milk and Jam. Lovely garden and soroundings. Easy access with great communication from host. Bed does the job. Decent shower and good facilities for a small space. Perfect for a reasonably priced short stay. Would recommend

Bright, single room in my clean & comfortable home. Simple breakfast included: fresh coffee/tea & cereal/toast. You're welcome to use the kitchen for more. My home is a Victorian terraced cottage in a quiet neighbourhood, within easy walk of local shops, town and both Burgess Hill & Wivelsfield stations. NowTV in room, fast wifi everywhere, shared bathroom and well-equipped kitchen, plus lounge & garden, with gas BBQ. Washing machine & local gym/pool access... let this be your home from home!
Relaxed, welcoming and tidy household. Just one 40-something male living here - and no pets! I tend to eat from my lap in front of the TV, but there's also a suitable table available in the back room.
There's bags of character and good amenities nearby, including parks, pubs, shops, cafes, gyms and a decent indoor pool. Whilst staying with me, you get guest access to The Triangle leisure centre, including gym, pool, courts and classes.
  • I stayed at Tim's place for a month and for the second time now. He is a great host not only for a short-term, but also for a longer-term. He is guest-friendly and open-minded. The guest room is nice and comfortable and the place is at a good location (just 15 min. from Burgess Hill Station).

    Dániel2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tim is a great host. Having recently migrated from India,Tim made the whole process of adjusting to a new place really simple. His place is sparkling clean. Tim does take the time out to show you the place around and most airBnB host's don't do that. I would really recommend it to people who want a place like home away from home.

    Leroy2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tim is a very welcoming host and has a delightful house which he keeps spotless. Very comfortable bed as well.

  • Tim is an excellent host, he made me feel very welcome and he has a lovely house which is very clean and organised. The room is as described and the bed very comfortable. I would recommend Tim's place in Burgess Hill.

  • Tim is very welcoming, really helpful with local information, as well as assisting me with some hiccups that I had along the way. If you need to spend a few days, or a few weeks in the Sussex region, you really won't get better than Tim as a host.

Remote 17th century cottage, sited on an ancient Sussex iron working site, surrounded by woodlands, fields and small river. Accommodation is a semi-detached, self-contained annex to main cottage with own entrance. It has a bedroom with 4'6"double bed open plan with curtain divide to the sitting room which has an optional fold up single bed, wood burning stove, compact kitchen, tiny shower room, WC, without bath. Conservatory overlooks wild garden and woodlands. Also dog friendly and sitting.
The property is beautifully rustic and charming, it has been used on a number of occasions as a location for film and photo shoots and is a truly unique and characterful location. The annexe is a quiet inspirational space (no television), great for relaxing, unwinding, yoga or just being laid back. The garden and woods are full of birds and wildlife and there are many footpaths through the surrounding fields and woods. You will have a small private patio where you can enjoy a cup of tea immersed in the sounds of the surrounding wildlife. We have two friendly dogs, so well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.

There is a good Indian restaurant and three pubs that serve food. Ten minutes away is Jeremy’s superb restaurant and the wonderful Café Elvera. Both are situated in Borde Hills’ beautiful Gardens which also hosts theatre performances and exhibitions. Within striking distance are Nyman’s, Leonards Lee and Wakehurst wonderful gardens, Charlston House.
  • Dee and Bill were both so friendly, fantastic hosts and a gorgeous little place in such a lovely area, there were even little hand drawn maps to help us find walks!

    Lily2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our weekend retreat at Dee and Bill's place. If there is anything wrong with the listing it's only that it is even cosier than it looks! We were looking for somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a few days, to switch off and recharge, and found exactly that and more. We loved spending our evenings by the fantastic fire and waking up to nothing but birdsong. We spent quite some time identifying various birds from their calls - day and night - from the conservatory. So incredibly peaceful and idyllic. You really are tucked away in the woods. We enjoyed some lovely muddy walks and it only took 20 minutes or so to walk into the village for supplies and local refreshment! But when at the house you really do feel much further away than that. Dee and Bill were really welcoming hosts and made the place lovely and warm and cosy for our late arrival. (Thank you!). We will definitely return in the summer (and spring, and autumn, and perhaps winter again if we can!...). It was just perfect.

    Lisa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality Dee & Bill are wonderful hosts the cottage is perfect fresh flowers left for us Plus everything is there for cooking plus wardrobe with hangers comfortable seats great bed and the outlook is amazing especially from the conservatory beautiful gardens and so peaceful great place to recharge your batteries. So many wonderful walks even in the winter . 😎😎🎨🎨🐶🐶💕

  • Amazing cottage in a beautiful woodlands. It is quite magical. You get to wake up and open the curtains to the natural world. Loved it!

    Al2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A little piece of perfectly peaceful paradise amidst the hustle and bustle of the south. Bill and Dee were so welcoming and so hospitable and it truly is a spot of heaven.

    Joanne2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful people and home. Look forward to going back.

    Diane2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cottage is in a great location where you can enjoy perfect peacefulness, calm and tranquility. You can hear the wonderful birdsong all around, the lovely wood burner inside and the beautiful conservatory where you can sit and enjoy the beauty all around you. You can go walking in amazing countryside and enjoy the rustic charm of a quirky but perfect cottage and setting. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my stay. Also the hosts were delightful and very helpful. Thank you both for providing me with a perfect, stress free break away from the challenges of a very busy life. I needed to unwind and that was exactly what I did. My family and friends visiting loved it too. I will be back.

    Snezana2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • There isn’t a more apt description for this place than “magical woodland hideaway”. One could add words like warm and cosy, genuinely friendly and welcoming, great location, dog-friendly, tranquil and picturesque ... but the moment you arrive, meet Dee & Bill and then see the place, more words become superfluous. We had a wonderful stay though too short and would love to come back for more!

  • An amazing stay!! A peaceful cottage from which we visited the sussex coutryside. We loved the place (the bed is sooo comfy)! Jennie welcomed us with nics tips. We followed her restaurant suggestions and were positively surprised by it. The cottage stands in an amazing region and is perfectly furnished! Loved it!

  • A very tranquil location with great views . The barn has a very warm and cosy feel to it . The host will make your stay welcoming and is very pleasant with plenty of local recommendations for good food and trips out.

  • If you are looking for a stylish, cosy cottage and in a wonderful quiet rural location close to a great village and local pubs with great food, this is an ideal place. We ate Sunday lunch at the Horse Inn in Hurstpierpoint and the food and service was amazing. Didn't get a chance to sample their extensive gin bar though! We stayed on a wet winter weekend, so couldn't make use of the patio. Can only imagine how nice it must be in the summer with the patio, views of the downs and farms etc. Jennie and Hugh were attentive hosts and always there to answer questions. And their two dogs Dottie and Jake are adorable. A slice of rural heaven.

  • 5 stars! Can absolutely recommend. Two friends stayed one night. An ultimate experience; picturesque location, gorgeous interior, amazing hospitality and an all round wonderful experience. From the moment we turned up, to the moment we left it was just fantastic. Incredibly helpful and kind host. The accomodation is well equipt (comfortable sofa double bed!) and full of helpful additions such as milk on arrival. Friendly pets around to greet you and for a quick cuddle. Area is near a tesco (walkable) for supplies, lovely pubs and walks in the area. If you haven't booked already, do it, you will not regret it. Look forward to returning soon! Thank you, Jennie. We left an item at the accomodation and Jennie contacted us to tell us and is kindly posting it.
