Places to stay in Saxtons River
Cozy cabin nestled in the secluded woods along a rushing brook just outside Grafton village. You'll find it in the heart of southern Vermont's ski and hiking country just a short drive to Green Mountain NP. Designed to wrap your soul in flannel sheets, this tiny home has all the charm to allow you to live out your cabin-life fantasies hassle free. Perfect for lovers, bromances, gal pals, cuddle buddies, close friends, and just about any one else who wants to unwind, get close and personal.
This home uses an indoor modern composting toilet and anyone squeamish about it should maybe think twice; though, you'll likely be pleasantly relieved (pun intended). It's not that different so don't fear. The stair is a fun addition, but it's steep and dangerous for infants or toddlers or for those with limited mobility. The cabin is made of fir that's actually harvested and milled directly from the site! If you're allergic to fir, this isn't the place for you; every square inch is fir! This is a very inclusive rental and we especially welcome the LGBT community. I prefer no pets please. If it's nice out, do not miss taking the hammock (hanging inside) down by the brook and relaxing for a while. You'll find the hooks on two trees down beside the stream. If it's dry out, grab some firewood at a roadside stand for a fire in the pit outside. The cabin is homey and cozy but you'll want to be outdoors as much as possible!
Grafton is an incredible Georgian era village that is scenic and well preserved. Shops, galleries, museums, an adorable grocery/deli, the historic Grafton Inn, Phelps Pub, tennis courts, parks, swimming pond, mountain biking, cross country skiing, hiking can all be found in a short walk around the village and an easy walk from the cabin. The Mollie Beattie State Forest and Grafton Trails and Recreation Center are both nearby as well.
  • This house was the perfect size for two to get away from it all for a long weekend and simply enjoy nature and be present. This lovey home was equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen tools to bathroom amenities and warm blankets. We even drove to mount snow a couple times for snowboarding. Thank you!

  • Amazing little retreat spot in the woods but also close to town. Perfect for some solitude for reading, writing or whatever suits you. And just minutes away from the Grafton Outdoor Center and Trails for x-country skiing and snowshoeing.

  • The Owl's Nest is probably the coolest place to plan a staycation in Vermont. If the weather is inclement or you find yourself stuck indoors, this tiny house is packed with a myriad of books, maps and antique artifacts to explore.

  • Beautiful spot in a cozy VT mountain town. The house was just as described and perfect for a couple nights away for two of us. Clean, plenty of amenities, comfy bed and a tranquil stream outside. Danny was a great host. We’ll be back!

  • The Owl’s Nest cabin is a dream! The pictures are just a glimpse at what wonder this cabin holds. My boyfriend and I stayed here and it was the most wonderful weekend getaway. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The attention to details is fantastic. We came in January with snow on the ground and can’t stop imagining what all seasons here look like. We look forward to coming back!

  • Absolutely amazing remote location to get away, yet less than a mile from town for accessibility. Dinner at the Grafton inn and breakfast at country girl diner (only 15 min drive) are musts!

  • My stay here was fabulous! I'm already looking to see when I can return....that should speak for itself

    Mark2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a truly magical place! My bf and I arrived shortly after snowfall and it was absolutely beautiful. The cabin was warm and toasty despite the weather, such a cozy and beautifully decorated space.

One bedroom apartment with kitchenette (mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave, dishes etc.), full bathroom with laundry, and open living space. I am an English teacher, so there are lots of books! Apartment is located in the Village of Saxtons River- within easy walking distance from the Market, Vermont Academy, our new Park, and Main Street Arts.
This space was a full apartment under a previous owner, but no longer has a full kitchen, so minus the stove-thing, it is a big cheerful apartment. We have provided enough for kitchenette life (making coffee, storing take-out, making pb&j sandwiches...) and lots of nice spaces to read, hang out, and enjoy your time in southern Vermont. The bedroom has closets, there is room for a crib if you are traveling with young children (we have an extra if needed), decorations are artsy and eclectic. In the bathroom there is a full washer and dryer, and a combined tub/shower.
Saxtons River is a small town, with the standard general store, inn (with bar), breakfast place, and church. There is a cool arts organization (Main Street Arts) that often hosts art shows and theatrical productions. We are also really close to Bellows Falls, which has a few nice restaurants, some breakfast spots, coffee shops, and antique stores. We are also really close to Grafton, Chester, Putney, and about 45 minutes from Okemo.
  • Whitney's AirBNB is adorable! My friend and I only stayed one night but the stay was clean, warm and the bed was very comfy. The town is very quiet and we enjoyed a bit of the night sky for once. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back!

    Wendy Awesome2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • 1st AirBNB experience, and it will be a hard one to top. Lovely space with lots of room. Travelling to a local event with dogs. Host was very accommodating. How can a place with Make Way For Ducklings, the Harry Potter series and a Tom Robbins novel be bad? Look forward to visiting again.

    Laura2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one very short night, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We received detailed information on where to park and how to access the apartment. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised; the space was larger than I expected. Very cute and cozy. Note in the description that there is no stove/oven, but there is a mini-fridge; larger than the usual college-type mini fridge. Plenty of space in it for a couple of days of groceries for small meals and snacks. The bed, and bedding, was very cozy! After a long drive, crawling into a comfy bed was a treat! Wish we could have stayed longer, but if we are back in the area we'll definitely look to stay here again!

    Kelly2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and cozy accommodations, wonderful location right next to the VAST network, and great local tips for our stay!

  • Amazing charming space!

    Cassandra2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We were seeking a cute & pet-friendly apartment as our relative is in a nearby assisted living facility—this place was just adorable!! It was nice and toasty when we arrived, and when the overnight low dipped below zero, we were snug as a big in a rug! If you are a reader, you will be in heaven—books abound! Clean, with a kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator, and coffee accoutrements such as cream and sugar as well as some teabags made this exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend and we will be back!

"No exaggeration-I am the most relaxed I've been in years! This was wonderful-it was so nice with coffee, the French chanteuse warbling about Paris on the record player, the sunlight streaming in the windows-I am so refreshed!"

  • Clean, comfortable, warm. I stayed at Melissa's apartment with my two sons for a ski weekend. Everything you need is right here. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Good House to any friend or family member. Well done.

    Christopher2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Good House Cottage, appropriately named. Felt just like being at home.

    Sarah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Another wonderful stay at Melissa’s place. It’s clean, quiet, and a wonderful space to relax in. I booked last minute, but Melissa had everything ready and was very accommodating. I’ll be back again!

  • Melissa's place was perfect for my weekend ski getaway, less than an hour from Stratton, Okemo, and Mt. Snow. It felt very cozy, quiet, and secluded. I really appreciated the full kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave and refrigerator that I could use to cook meals after hitting the slopes. The shower had great water pressure and could get really hot (just how I like it). The bed was extremely comfortable. Altogether I felt at home the moment I walked in the door. What more could someone want?

    Mitchell2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and recommended

    Marco2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A warm and comfortable place to feel at home when away from home. I would go there again if in the VT area and I have already recommend it to some local people who frequently have visitors.

  • The best in the area :)

    Phum2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Herb’s place is great and he is an awesome host! Everything was sparkling clean and he provided clear signs to find towels, linens, etc. He left us food for breakfast and plenty of firewood for the wood stove. Herb was also extremely flexible with my group’s check-in process as Vermont was hit by a huge snowstorm the day we were supposed to go and the roads were impassable. Would recommend this property to anyone!

    Elizabeth2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a pretty big group, and Herb was very accommodating! The place is gorgeous and homey, and a perfect place to spend a winter weekend.

    Alexander2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Herb’s place is incredible! No matter what you’re in the area for, it’s a great place to stay. My friends and I had such a wonderful stay there and felt so at home.

    Madeline2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Herb's house easily accommodated our group for a weekend ski trip and was located close to mountains at a great value. The house is cozy and inviting with the wood burning stove and endless book/game selections, and Herb's homemade baked goods were a nice touch to the experience.

    Dylan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Herb’s home was perfect for our family, including our dogs! Very comfortable and cozy. The wood stove was a hit with my husband. Wooded area was pretty. The house is located just past Vermont Academy in Saxton’s River. The beds were comfy and bedding was great! Tons of towels and plenty of pillows. Sectional sofa was very relaxing. Herb was communicative and made sure he left lights on for our late arrival. A sweet little gingerbread loaf in the fridge was a very nice touch. We would definitely consider the house again.

The sunny bathroom has a large oval tub/shower, the living room has a 7'-tall arched window, and there are ventilating, louvered skylights in every room. Just a few miles up the road are oodles of other fantastic restaurants, bistros, breakfast/lunch places, diners, and delis. Classic New England village and we're on the widest, oldest street with sidewalks, beautiful old homes and huge mature maples. We are half a block from Main Street, where there is a country village market with a great deli, arts and craft shops, two pubs, a formal restaurant, post office, a Catholic church, the Saxtons River Historical Society Museum, and a beautiful rocky grotto with swimming hole in the Saxtons River itself! And around the corner is Vermont Academy, with hiking trails, a terrific running track, lots of green fields in spring and summer and, in winter, awesome Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating! In autumn the village and surrounding hills, forests and meadows transform into one big glorious postcard. In a nutshell, it's pretty much paradise, year round.

    Saxtons River, VT, United States

Nestled within a mountaintop meadow, through a covered bridge above the village of Saxtons River, our peaceful cottage is a destination by itself and a perfect place from which to explore fall foliage and all the natural beauty Vermont has to offer. Feel the oxygen and restorative negative ions from the lush mountain woods; true shinrin-yoku ('forest bathing'). Destinations for hiking/biking, gourmet & organic restaurants, live music, cafes, coffee shops, and health food co-ops all exist nearby.
After passing through a historical and sweet covered bridge and journey up a small mountainous road, you will reach our cottage. The energy around our cottage is calm and soothing. The mountain forest wraps around the cottage and is a perfect place to experience and pursue the healing and relaxing recreation of shinrin yoku (or “forest bathing”). Shinrin yoku was developed in Japan where it is considered a cornerstone of preventative medicine and healing. When you step outside the cottage doors you will want to immerse yourself in the smell of pine and its healing a-pinene and limonene while breathing in the freshest air, which manifests in the abundance of lichen on trees; bio-indicators of superior air quality and oxygen. When not taking in the forest atmosphere outside, it still makes its way into the cottage. The living room windows and the sliding glass doors of the living room and bedroom both open onto the deck, which rests above the forested meadow. The four tall living room windows and glass doors all reflect the completely private, lush green land. The cottage is made of one bedroom, one bathroom with a shower, a front room with desk, washer and dryer, and an open concept living room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking.
We are located at the top of a small mountain and our nearest neighbors are not visible nor audible from our 10-acre property. Wild turkeys, deer and an array of birds, among other creatures, are your neighbors. Our home is next to yours on the same property, but your cottage is nearest the meadow with direct access and exclusive use of the land while you're here. Our nearest town is the village of Saxtons River with a population of 550. Yet the village still contains an excellent restaurant and bar (Saxtons River Inn), a food market with an excellent cheese and wine selection. After that, you will find the town of Bellows Falls, which offers several antique stores, a restaurant with live music (Popolo), several gyms offering weekly passes and a Brooklyn-esque coffee shop, Flat Iron Exchange, along with a café selling organic and local fare as well as kombucha on tap (Valley Café). Just beyond that, Putney offers a health food co-op and Walpole, the restaurant L.A. Burdick’s. This is all an afterthought to the array of hiking, biking and canoeing/kayaking options in the surrounding miles. One of the loveliest times of the year is during peak fall foliage. Please be sure to visit our Guidebook for personal favorites and recommendations for dining, hiking, arts and other essentials.

  • Super clean, comfortable, everything you need, the perfect getaway. Quintessential VT! This beautiful log home has it all with fun things to see and do in every direction, all about 10-15 minutes away. Very relaxing with a view of wildlife and nature’s beauty right outside the bright comfy sunroom. Enjoyed our time there very much.

  • Perfect for a peaceful, quiet getaway. Steve was a great host. The log cabin is gorgeous and exceeded expectations. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the serene beauty of Vermont!

    Steven2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location just remote enough to feel like you’ve got the entire mountain to yourself, but close enough for quick amenities and restaurants. Steve was considerate enough to check on our arrival when a storm came through and dropped a few inches of snow that morning, and we loved coming back to the cozy home after a day on the nearby ski slopes. A true Vermont cabin in the woods.

    Robyn2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was gorgeous and very secluded, can’t see your closest neighbor which was great. The pictures don’t do it enough justice; inside and out the property was great. Hope to return again one day!

  • I really loved this Airbnb - it was clean, comfortable, spacious and full of delightful art and cheerful touches and color - maybe my favorite among many Airbnb stays!!

  • The apartment is very spacious and lovely, and it’s super close to the village. We had a delightful stay and slept really well. The kitchen is beautiful and well-stocked. Thank you!

  • Beautiful, comfortable, and spacious apartment. Kristen is a great host - she always has time to answer questions and make sure you feel at home. I did an extended stay for three weeks, and loved it. Highly recommend!

  • Lovely place in a great location to see Bellows Falls! My family had a wonderful stay and loved the flat

    Raymond2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen’s apartment is amazing. It’s in an old Victorian home with great historic features, quiet yet very close to downtown. The decor is uniquely curated with beautiful art and sculpture, brightly colored walls, comfy furniture. The kitchen has everything you need. We were greeted with a personalized hand-written note, cookies, and local apples and cider. One of our favorite stays ever!

  • I have stayed several times and will continue to consider this my first choice in bellows falls. Kristen’s personal touches are what Airbnb is all about. Her place is an artist’s haven, beautiful design and artistic touches. Tasty local seasonal treats like fresh local cider and cider donuts await your arrival. I almost always am able to check in early and leave a little late, although don’t hold me to that. She is an excellent communicator with regards to that. I’ll return a million times. Mickie

  • Kristen's place is just stunning. She has a great eye for art and design. Her recommendations around town were spot on. She provided apple cider and donuts which made our fall trip to Vermont perfect. There is a generous selection of good books, a nice roomy kitchen, and a wonderful view of the church and cemetery from the comfy, warm living room sofa. The local town is really charming and friendly. We plan to return next fall!

The area is home to great hiking, boating, skiing, antiquing and New England's laid back, friendly, welcoming communities. This village of Bellows Falls is home to many old, gracious Victorian homes, a lovely downtown with unique shops, wonderful restaurants and beautiful views of the Connecticut River and the hills of New Hampshire. The house is one of the old Victorians, creatively rehabbed into a grand yet down-to-earth home. A backyard is available for guests' lounging outdoors.
The Blue Room is on the second floor, overlooks the backyard and has two large windows. A large closet and chest of drawers is available. A bathroom is nearby, on this floor.

  • Barbara's is a grand old home in excellent condition, and she is warm and welcoming. Very comfortable stay, with a host that goes out of her way to make you feel at home.

    Suzanne2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My time at Barbara’s wonderful home was more of an experience than a stay. The home is such a lovely older antiqued home that has been restored and kept up so beautifully. Barbara is one of the most wonderful host you could have through the Airbnb experience. I would definitely stay there again given the chance.

    Cheryl2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My Dad actually stayed this time. It was everything I had explained to him. He will definitely stay there on his next trip to Vermont. Great value for the money.

  • Barbara’s place is the best Airbnb I have stayed at, and what an opportunity to stay in such a beautiful Edwardian home! Great facilities, breakfast items, gorgeous rooms, garden. Short walk to the Main Street -Moon dog cafe & Wunderbar were my favourites. Thank you Barbara, such a wonderful host & I hope to stay again beautiful Bellows!

    Jody2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara is the nicest person on the planet and couldn’t be more hospitable and accommodating. She went above and beyond in a near crisis situation for me. Her communication before with advice during my visit was exceptional. Bellows Falls is charming and the location of her magnificent home is perfect. I’ve had many, many fabulous Airbnb experiences and visited Vermont several times, but my stay far exceeded my expectations.

The Rose Room is a spacious bedroom in a beautiful Victorian home with elegant yet comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is extraordinary as are the tiled bathroom and the deep, long claw foot tub. Tall ceilings, oriental carpets and attention to detail make this room and home visually attractive and charming. Bellows Falls offers a movie theater (one of the largest screens in New England and ) all seats $5), an antique emporium and great restaurants. Plus an old time diner.
Called the Rose Room because of the wall color and the antique Oriental rug with a rose background, this room is situated on the first floor. This room has access to a unique and beautiful bathroom. The tiled bathroom was created in a European style with the shower as part of the room. Lush plants create a special setting.
  • All I can say is that I had an absolutely wonderful experience. Barbara is the quintessential hostess (and my Mother went to finishing school...). Barbara could not have been more gracious, thoughtful, considerate or helpful. Her historic Victorian home has been lovingly and beautifully restored to its original splendor and is a treat to stay in. It is located within easy walking distance of the Village of Bellows Falls which has some lovely restaurants and shops. This is a real find and if you are reading this review - stay there. (I just hope that when I return that she'll still have space for me!)

The house is conveniently located within easy walking distance of local shops and restaurants, and a couple of minutes by car from Shaw’s supermarket. This custom build apartment is located just 10 minutes from I91. In the winter you are 30 minutes away from some of the best skiing around. Located on 85 private acres with great views this is the perfect winter get away. In the summer you can relax by the firepit, hike in the woods, work in the gardens (just kidding), collect breakfast from the chickens or visit some of the local breweries. We are as close or as far away as you would like us to be with our house right next door.
  • This was just the quick getaway I needed! The place is so quaint and cute, and the hosts are super welcoming and hospitable. We all had a great time watching the chickens and cats, as well as walking around the property!

  • Awesome private apartment with a quick 30 minute drive to Okemo Mountain!

    Jordan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We chose this barn apartment for a ski weekend at Okemo Mountain. The pictures do not do the space justice at all. The drive up to the barn is beautiful in itself. The space is gorgeous, and the details provided by the host (farm fresh eggs! Hershey’s kisses! Coffee! A stocked medicine cabinet with toiletries!) were thoughtful and adorable. The barn is located a short drive to the mountain and the town of Chester has a couple of cute spots to eat (we loved Heritage Cafe for a pre-ski breakfast and coffee). Extra blankets and a postcard view....we loved it so much that we canceled our Airbnb for Burlington next month and rebooked with them for another ski weekend at Okemo next month.

    Cheryl2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bethany’s property was absolutely beautiful. Tucked away up on the hill, it was a perfect escape but still close enough to everything you need. Although the snow made it a little tough to get up the driveway, she was super helpful in assisting our way in. The barn loft was very cozy, very clean and a very welcoming feel. There were all the amenities we needed to feel right at home. Communication was great start to finish. Loved the stay here and will absolutely be back to enjoy the warmer weather and explore all the private property! Thanks Bethany!

    Daniel2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, the photos of this place don’t do it justice. The cottage was/is much better than I expected in that it’s more updated than appears in the photos and the property is a lot more than what you’d expect to find. I was looking for a quiet escape from NYC, and this place fit the bill exactly. The town literally has no cell service (unless you have AT&T, but don’t worry the cottage has WiFi). And it’s nestled in the VT mountains near plenty of places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. As others have mentioned, it’s on a river/creek which is really nice. There’s a fire pit on site with all of the needed materials. And the place is located a 10-12 minute walk from the village of Grafton where you can find a market store and a couple of good dining options. Would highly recommend to anyone and i would definitely stay again.

    Ricky2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's cottage is a great place to stay if you are in the Grafton area. It's clean and has all the essentials that you would expect from an Airbnb stay. It's ideal for couples and small groups. For us the best feature of the stay was the Saxton River in the backyard.

The vintage barn studio offers an open living plan with Queen bed, fully equipped gourmet kitchen and a cozy seating area w/ fireplace. Once an artist's studio, it is has been painstakingly renovated with a "reduce, reuse, recycle" philosophy.
This converted artist studio is adorned with beautiful antique wide planks everywhere and offers a vaulted ceiling. Our efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle is reflected in reclaimed fittings and furnishings all over the studio. The combination of old materials, local crafting and modern industrial design has resulted in a comfortable and contemporary space that is simply beautiful. Everyone loves it; we welcome you to experience it. A new kitchen comes complete with high end built in appliances, all cookware and most basic ingredients to make your arrival comfortable. You will find a selection of teas, coffee, maple syrup, spices, condiments, etc etc. There is a queen bed in the studio. We prefer renting this space to max two plus a small child with inflatable mattress (we have a twin one). The dining table can seat four. The bar counter has three seats. The sitting area has two comfy armchairs beside the electric fireplace. There is a widow A/C from June through October. The bathroom is small but new, clean and functional, with a nice rain shower and wall mounted hair dryer. The studio has a 47' LCD TV with bluray player and streaming Netflix and Hulu. No Cable. There is a nice vintage audio system and lots of CDs, Alexa and ability for you to connect your iphone to the stereo. Look closely and you will find that most of the furniture is designed from the barn's old window shutters and antique wide plank heart pine found in the attic from 1840's. The kitchen counters are hand crafted from extinct american chestnut and antique oak, sourced from a local 1790's barn.
We welcome you to enjoy the Grafton community. You will be hard pressed to find a more authentic Vermont village experience; where time appears to remain standstill, history is alive around every corner and where man's creation and nature's beauty are in perfect harmony. The village is home to some of the most beautiful examples of early New England architecture, and the entire village center (including our house) is in the National Register of Historic Places. Named one of the 10 most beautiful places in America consistently by USA Today and one of 1000 Places To See Before You Die by leading Travel Guides - as also one of the prettiest hamlets in VT. There is plenty to do and see if you ever feel like leaving the picturesque charm of Grafton to begin with. Grafton Ponds - world class cross country ski. Swim in village pond or play tennis in the village courts Ski - Okemo, Bromley, Magic Mountains all within 30 minutes. Limitless opportunity for hiking nearby hills. Bike on beautiful unpaved country roads starting at your doorstep. The views are spectacular. Hike out of the house into the state forest where you will not see anyone else, a great 2 hour plus hike, also great for a quiet picnic near the beaver ponds. We also ride our mountain bike inside this forest. Antiquing - Grafton, Chester, Bellows Falls, Springfield and other surrounding towns are filled with excellent local antique stores Shopping - Manchester outlet mall is 45 minutes out.

  • This was our 4th year staying at Sonali's amazing barn apartment and everything could not have been more perfect, which is why we continue to stay year after year. We would recommend that anyone looking for a place to stay in the area put this at the top of your list. As a host, we could not hope for anything more - Sonali responds immediately and goes above and beyond with anything we may need. Its coziness and charm continue to make the barn apartment one of our favorite places to stay of all the places we travel to. It is a few minute easy walk to town (even in February!), a quick drive to Grafton Trails, and is always fully stocked with anything and everything we could need for a weekend away. We also love making the beautiful, but quick drive to Chester for the lovely restaurants and local shops. Another perfect stay from start to finish!

    Rachael2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The space is wonderful! The fully stocked kitchen is a great touch. It was great getting able to make a home cooked meal on a rainy cold night in Vermont. The town is quaint and very friendly. Would definitely recommend if you’re staying in Grafton.

  • This quaint and comfortable cabin made for the perfect romantic winter get away. It combined the rustic, authentic feel of Vermont with modern touches of comfort. We can’t wait to come back again and we would recommend it to anyone looking to experience what Vermont has to offer. Not to mention that the town of Grafton, VT was not only beautiful but historically relevant and surprisingly accommodating.

    Benjamin2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sonali’s barn loft was perfect for a snowy weekend getaway in Vermont! It was sparkling clean and tidy in addition to being super charming. The apartment contained all necessary amenities for us to cook a couple meals and enjoy a weekend of reading by the fire, listening to music, and getting some sound sleep in the super comfortable bed with crisp linens. The loft was also super toasty despite the cold temps outside- we even ended up turning the heat on low setting overnight! The loft is located very conveniently - only 5-7 min walk to Main Street and the Grafton Inn, where we were headed for a wedding. Would highly recommend staying here- hope to come back again soon!

    Amanda2019-12-08T00:00:00Z

The space is cozy with plenty of natural light and is set up to make your stay as comfortable as possible. New mattresses and beds with quality linens and towels. New washer and dryer for laundry during extended stays. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you want to do your own cooking. There is a toaster oven as well as a traditional electric range and a microwave. Coffee and tea are provided. There have been many recent upgrades to this home, but several features are unique in character including an antique claw foot bath tub (with shower) in the main bathroom. The second bathroom is quite small with an older tub as well plus a hand held shower . As is typical with old Vermont farm houses- people made use of what was availble. The house, with its old time VT character and the village setting will definitely give you a classic small town New England experience!
The neighbors keep to themselves, but friendly. Worden Lane is not a through road so there is very little traffic. A short walk to the end of the road will lead you to the trail system.
  • Tansy’s place was really great. It was quaint in a good way and very spacious with a wonderful country feel to it. It was a very warm place to come home to after a long day of skiing.

  • Great getaway. Very spacious and well decorated. We were happy to see the kitchen is stocked with essential dishes and pans so we could cook a meal.

  • Tansy was a great host and the cottage was adorable! It was quaint, relaxing and well decorated - we loved it. The outlets were baby proofed which was thoughtful for those with families. The cottage was spacious and the pictures didn’t so justice - much better than expected. Truly got the Vermont winter experience. Would recommend to anyone and come back! Thank you!

    Christina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tansy’s place was sooo nice. Much larger than I thought! It was spacious and clean and just the perfect home for after a day a skiing!

    Alexandra2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We love this little cottage more than we can say, and have now visited both in the summer and winter. This is a great area, the cottage is centrally located, and we couldn’t ask for a better host. We’ll be back!

    Melanie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! Cozy and conveniently located near at ski resorts. Will definitely stay here again!

    Hailey2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is the quintessential VT farm house. Looks like Joanna and Chip Gaines helped with the decorations. We would highly recommend this gem. It is a central location for skiing Bromley, Stratton, and Mt Snow.

    Stephen2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tansy's place was awesome. Very cozy, stylish, and clean place to stay for a ski trip with plenty of room for several people. She's very responsive and gave recommendations for the surrounding area upon request. Provided awesome variety of seasonings to make cooking much easier compared to other hosts I have stayed with in the past. The only thing I would say, and it is not a turn off in the slightest, is that the space upstairs and in the bathroom is not tall friendly. I'm 6'5" and was a little large for the shower as my head was hitting the ceiling.

This beautiful circa 1850 farmhouse is nestled between two rivers. While it feels secluded, it is located right in Grafton Village and only a two minute walk from the tavern. There is an attached barn that has been converted to a great room with large fireplace and bar. We have a collection of bikes and snow shoes in the garage that guests are welcome to.
Relax in a rocking chair on the front porch with a glass of wine or on the back screened-in porch that overlooks the river. The large master bedroom boasts a king-sized Tempur-Pedic bed and a view of the river, which will lull you to sleep at night. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a full size bed and two twin beds. There is a second bedroom upstairs with two more twin beds. There are full bathrooms on each floor and an additional powder room by the living room. The kitchen is a small galley kitchen but has everything you need. There is an attached barn that has been set up as a large family room that has a roaring fire place, cozy couch, large television and a bar. There is a bedroom and full bathroom in the upstairs of the barn. This room is not included in the bedroom count and we ask that it not be used. Please note that from November 1st to April 1st, the barn bathroom will be winterized. The only heat in the barn is the wood stove and fireplace. Sliding doors open up to the fenced-in back yard that leads to a wide sweeping river. Most homes in town do not allow children because they are filled with antiques, but we pride ourselves on being family friendly. There is a pack and play always set up, a sound machine, and a high chair. We have a kids area that is stocked with toys, books and there is a large selection of children's movies on DVD. Our favorite thing to do at the house is play in the river. Between the two large rocks is a 4-5 ft deep swimming hole. This property is so peaceful and serene, it is like a retreat. You will leave feeling completely refreshed reinvigorated.
Grafton is such a special place to us. We were married here in 2010 and now bring our three children up as often as we can. There is a book of local attractions and places to eat at the house. We would also be happy to email it to you if it helps you plan your stay. Grafton Village is one of the most idyllic places in New England. The historic Old Tavern is in the center, which has fancy dining in the main lodge, but also pub fare in the adjoining Phelps Barn. There is live music most weekends. MKT is the general store in the center of the village. It is considered the hub of the community and is where all the locals go for morning coffee. They serve breakfast, lunch and even have take away dinners. MKT carries staple food items such as milk and bread, and various household goods. They also have a great wine and cheese selection. There is a nice trail that leads through the old historic homes, general store, blacksmith shop, town garden, sheep barn and town pond. Just a short walk down the road, you will pass a sheep meadow and then come to a covered bridge which leads to the Grafton Cheese Factory, where Vermont's best cheese is made.
  • Great vintage home with all of the things you could want. The home heats up quickly - fast internet - plenty of baths / showers the pics don’t do the master justice. It -along with its views are worth the trip. Alone.

  • Laurences place was great! The fenced in yard was amazing especially if you choose to bring a dog. We spent most of our time in the barn which is truly unique and a great place to hang out. The fires keep the barn quite warm even if it’s 0 degrees out. Laurences customer service and responsiveness was amazing. Will definitely be staying here again.

    Brendon2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect space to unwind, relax and catch up with friends. That barn is everything!!!

    Elaine2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful country Christmas experience in this charming house right on the river. The location is perfect for both privacy and easy access to walk everywhere in picture-perfect Grafton Village. We enjoyed long walks on the country roads and hiking, sledding, and tubing at nearby Grafton Ponds, and then returning to this cozy house to relax by the fire. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and easily accommodated our extended family group. The location on the river is stunning and we hope to return in the summertime to this beautiful spot. Laurence was an extremely friendly and helpful host who responded quickly to our questions via phone or text while we were there. we felt right at home in this house and it was just the Vermont country experience we were hoping for.

  • The Ephraim House was the perfect Grafton getaway! Cute and historic! Perfect location!

    Ashley2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Grafton is a special town and Laurence’s home is a perfect place to enjoy all Grafton has to offer. The history is fascinating, and everything is easily accessed. We had a big group that included a baby and an active 7 year old. There was plenty of room for everyone, and it was great to have a high chair, kids dishes, and toys available for the little ones. We enjoyed a fire in the beautiful barn, and wandered along the stream. Laurence is a responsive and helpful host. We loved the home and our whole experience!

    Kathleen2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We rented this house because our son’s wedding was taking place on the grounds of the Grafton Inn. We could not have found a more convenient home base for our very busy weekend! Not only convenient, but also cozy and accommodating for my husband and I and my daughter’s family of six. My grandchildren loved the selection of toys and books available, my husband loved the “swimming hole”, and I loved the solitude of the sun porch! I only wish we could have had more time to enjoy the property and all it has to offer. It is everything as described and more. Laurence is a great host, getting back to me quickly with any questions I had. If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all I highly recommend Lauence’s Ephriam Bruce House in the sweet little town of Grafton, VT!

  • Thanks Christopher for our amazing staying. The Place was clean and has excellent condition, it seems renovation was done not so long ago because all towels, kitchenware are absolutely new. Also host provides a lot off different amenities starts from drinking water and end with pool table . In addition it is just 30 minutes to Okemo ski resort. I rate this place at 5/5 and definitely recommend for everyone!!

Built circa 1840, our home, called the West Corner, is nestled in the west end of the village center, providing unusual privacy for an in village home. It is very private, yet only a two minutes walk to the main street, village park & the tavern.
Grafton is a very special place and West Corner is a very special historic home. We welcome you to enjoy our vacation home and the Grafton community. You will be hard pressed to find a more authentic Vermont village experience; where time appears to remain standstill, history is alive around every corner and where man's creation and nature's beauty are in perfect harmony. The village is home to some of the most beautiful examples of early New England architecture, and the entire village is in the National Register of Historic Places. Named one of the 10 most beautiful places in America by USA Today and one of 1000 Places To See Before You Die by leading Travel Guides. To our surprise our home was featured on travel site AFAR as one of the nation's top winter airbnb gateaways. Unfortunately airbnb will not allow us to include a hyperlink but you could websearch for it. Built circa 1840, our home, called the West Corner (because it is the last home nestled in the west corner), is in end of the village center, providing unusual privacy for an in village home. Private, yet only a two minutes walk to the main street, village park, Grafton Tavern, the general store and churches. The home is in superb condition, maintaining much of its original character yet providing all the comforts and conveniences you would expect from today's dwellings - thanks to the meticulous update undertaken continuously. A steeple high attached barn, which once served as the grain room and firewood storage, welcomes you into the home, and also serves as our mudroom and Gallery. The high ceiling and rustic barnwood interiors are classic farmhouse style. Next to the grain room is our richly appointed library cum bar, with floor to ceiling wood panels, rumford fireplace, comfortable leather seating and, just a great setting to relax in, day or night. Oversized wall to wall window lets plenty of sunlight to stream in, making it a great place to read. The huge living cum dining room offers another fireplace and plenty of space of relaxation, dining or for enjoying a good fire. Attached to the living room is the sunroom, with its own breakfast nook table for four and a seating area. This space is excellent for enjoying summers and is fully wiremeshed for protection from bugs. The sunrooms has french doors opening to a cozy stone patio with beautiful arbor covered with wisteria, and a grilling area with charcoal cast iron grill the old fashioned way. The sunroom is winterized during winter months and closed. The home offers two bedrooms and two full baths, plus another half bath. The large master bedroom has a king bed and new Casper mattress (December 2016). It also offers a beautiful sitting area by the window to enjoy a morning coffee or to simply relax on the rocking chair and watch the village life go by from a distance. The guest bedroom offers a beautiful primitive full size bed with curtains. The home provides a sophisticated and country elegant living atmosphere with plenty of formal and casual living spaces. While the home is designed for four people, an extra inflatable mattress, which can be used in the master bedroom or in the den, allows for occasional additional guests. But honestly, the house is designed for four and maybe small children. The fully renovated country kitchen comes complete with state of the art appliances, all cookware, most basic ingredients and a refrigerator stocked with essentials in order to make your arrival comfortable. You will find a wide selection of teas, coffee, maple syrup, pancake mix, spices, condiments, etc etc. Silver flatware, antique knives, antique china and primitive cast iron dishes are carefully hand selected, completing an authentic country kitchen feel. It is fully equipped and we warn you that it will tempt you to go gourmet. Throughout the home you will find plenty of books, great vintage stereo systems painstakingly put together by us over the years, and hundreds of CDs, records and cassettes from our personal collection. You will be able to connect your iphone to this system as well. Please handle with care, the system is over 40 years old and delicate. There is an Alexa in the master bedroom as well.
  • The home is gorgeous and a fabulous space for family and friends. I had my bridal party get ready here and the photographer kept raving about the natural light! It’s a great spot that is definitely walking distance to town!

  • Sonali's home was the perfect winter escape from the city, with a cozy fire and tons of light in every room. Easily accommodated two couples. Looking forward to returning!

    Wendy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sonali's place is a true Gem! We originally had plans to visit Woodstock, VT for a mini 2 day getaway from NYC/Long Island area. But when we came across Sonali's place in our airbnb search, we fell in love with the vibe of the home and decided to explore the town of Grafton instead. Her place is beyond charming and you could feel the love that was put into it. I love the old world rustic soul her place had but felt so clean and updated with a contemporary energy. It's located in the small town of Grafton which has a little local market and some quaint things to explore and see. This is the type of place we would want to come back every year and make it our traditional mini lazy weekend getaway. We also can not speak highly enough of how communicative and informative Sonali was. She took personal care in our visit knowing we would have 2 young kids in the car. We had planned to drive up late Friday night. Sonali's concern for road conditions that night prompted her to call and suggested we postpone our trip till the morning. When she didn't get a hold of us, she called back later to discuss options. We're so glad we listened to her advice. As we drove up the next morning, we saw how it really could've been dangerous driving those country roads (even the paved ones) at night with ice and rain. It's one of those scenarios that only local residences would be aware of and be a very risky situation for visitors like us to be in if anything were to happen. Keep in mind, cellular service for Verizon holders are limited in the area. We definitely plan to return. What a special place and worth a trip just to stay at Sonali's place.

  • An incredible property & host. A perfect getaway with your significant other. Enjoyed the fireplace and playing their extensive record collection. If you enjoy cooking - this is the property! Everything your can possibly need is available in the kitchen. I highly recommend.

    Joseph2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is so relaxing and very beautifully decorated. Great kitchen to cook in, the collection of albums was so enjoyable to listen too. The master bedroom is a dream. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Grafton is a quaint little town, with a wonderful market! Chester 7 miles away was fun to visit and go in the little shops. We ate at Free Range in Chester and the Phelps Barn which we walked to in Grafton and had wonderful meals at both. Thank you for sharing your historic home.

    Courtney2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this home! Very unique and tastefully decorated with great art and a very cool layout. The record player and dvd library were super fun as well. We loved the market in town and dining at the inn down the street. Would love to come back for another stay!

    Austin2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sonali's home was a New England fairytale cottage! We spent Christmas week there and it was the perfect place for a small family. We found the kitchen exceedingly well equipped. The large living room with an expansive music collection served as a perfect spot to talk by the fire. The smaller tv den in the back of the house was my personal favorite... we would have nightcaps and watch old films by the perfect fireplace. I cannot recommend this stay enough. Fabulous host with great local tips. We will be back!

    Brendan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Bathric House for our winter wedding at the Grafton Inn! It was the perfect place to spread out and relax during a busy wedding weekend. The rooms are as pictured and really beautiful. Plenty of seating and lounging space. The main bedroom has a large comfortable king bed and a sofa. The smaller bedroom has a very small double bed - we didn’t use this room, so can’t speak for it. The WiFi worked perfectly! And the location was perfect for access to the Grafton Inn - just a short 5 minute walk away. The host was very responsive and nice to work with. All in all, an excellent experience!

  • The hospitality of the hosts is absolutely tops. Everything is taken care of and you are given room to enjoy and appreciate the space at your leisure and in great comfort. This was a business trip and to land at night in such beauty and comfort was memorable and luxurious. This took care of my needs and more.

  • The highest level of hospitality! Great hosts with an extremely comfy setting.

  • This is the best AirBnB I’ve ever been to. I couldn’t have stumbled upon a better port in the snowstorm. If I’d written this charming a place into a book by happenstance, no one would believe it! My room was comfortable, the space was steeped in historical charm, and Ed and Eileen were enthusiastic about ensuring my comfort. I made a pot of tea to drink in my room, and the breakfast the next morning was NO. JOKE. I felt like a proper queen. I will definitely be staying again, for longer, and bringing friends.

    Lauren2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Ed and Eileen was fantastic. A comfortable bed, a lovely home, and generous and friendly hosts. We stayed in several places on a NE tour and the Eva Blake house was far and away our favorite. We hope to make it back again some day! Truly a not to miss visit if it’s in your travel plans.

  • A very cozy place with warm hospitality. Not suitable for anyone challenged physically due to narrow steps down to bathroom. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing with special amenities. We would visit again.

  • Meg and Barbi are super friendly and responsive hosts, couldn't be better! The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed. There are stairs inside the apartment, the longest one for reaching the bathroom, make sure this doesn't bother you -- it was fine by us. If we go to that area again, we would gladly stay in Meg's and Barbi's place another time.

    Elena2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Meg and Barbi's place for a holiday weekend. Their studio was tidy, organized and spacious. It was equipped with a kitchen (and all the essential), a private bathroom and, besides our bed, it also had a small sofa. There are a few other towns close-by with an assortment of restaurants that have a generous farm-to-table policy. While staying at the studio, we were able to complete a scenic hike in nearby Putney and visited the fun Brattleboro, located 25-30 minutes away.

    Laurie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming, New England upstairs living space, in a beautiful, historic house. You have to not mind stairs - which we didn't - and enjoyed all the character of the space. Meg and Barbi were superb hosts.

    Paula2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this little studio. Even with its quirky stairs to the bathroom. The place is super comfortable and above all clean. Everything is freshly painted and furnished. Really enjoyed all the little details down to the fresh flowers on the coffee table. I highly recommend to anyone looking to have the small VT town feel. Meg and Barbi were super accommodating.

    Megan2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful and quirky place to stay. It was utterly peaceful and quiet, a much needed retreat for me. Meg & Barbi have stunning gardens surrounding the house and even their handsome tabby cat was there to greet me when I got home with some friendly meows! I would highly recommend these kind hosts to anyone!

The Stone Schoolhouse is in an amazing location - 100 yards from the historic Bartonsville Covered bridge -Five minutes from I 91 exit 6 -Five minutes from Chester VT -Two miles from The Vermont Country Store -Located in the heart of Southern Vermont skiing, hiking and biking The light airy 1840 house itself is charming, filled with art, books and enticing artifacts. The property includes a lovely woodland screened chalet. You will have the entire house to yourself.
The house has a complete kitchen and an extensive library. There is an amazing vinyl 33 collection and operating stereo. There is also a lovely screened chalet for peace and quiet and enjoying moonlight and sunrises and beautiful evenings. I live next door on a small organic farm with chickens, bees, apple orchard and vast garden. I am very knowledgable about the area and want to make your stay the best. Marvie
Lower Bartonsville is very rural and in the country. A beaver colony lives across the road from the school house. There is a little swimming hole under the bridge and two nearby farm stands and plenty of nearby hiking and biking. I can help you with all the trails and bike routes. And five minutes away in Chester you have a large variety of restaurants, grocery store, gas station and many intriguing shops and events.
  • This little house and location is so sweet and charming! It’s basic but very comfortable. We loved the welcome basket Marvie left us, the comfy king size bed, the well-stocked kitchen, and all of the interesting collections and memorabilia all around the house. We loved feeding our compost to Marvie’s chickens, meeting some of the neighbors, and watching the train go by across the street every day. The location by the stream and the tracks and the covered bridge is really picturesque. This is perfect for a couple or a small family looking for a quiet escape. Marvie herself was one of the best parts, she is close enough to hop over if needed but far enough that you still have plenty of privacy, and she is really delightful. She’s lived there for over 50 years and knows everything there is to know about the area. We hope to come back again some day!

  • When looking to get away from it all this is the perfect place to stay. Wether on business or just getting away from it all this is the place. Snacks, wine, coffee, a very comfy bed and more can all be found here. Historical schoolhouse built in the early 1800’s has charm and character one can truly appreciate. The hostess; Marvie is so pleasant, full of information and can tell you all about the local area.

    Kelley2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great option for a couple. The house was very cozy and full of interesting items

    Andrew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Marvie's place is unique and inspiring. Someone special collected these items, and we felt lucky to be able to enjoy them. Marvie provided a lot of special touches that made us feel welcome. There is plenty of heat and hot water, the schoolhouse is super clean, and the king-sized bed is very comfortable. Staying here was effortless and fun. It is highly recommended.

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a really great find. The house had lots of entertainment options between records, books, and board games. Location isn’t too far from the highway so it is easy to get to different places

    Steven2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Marvie's little schoolhouse is a cozy place to stay in the middle of a winter wonderland. Our party of two adults and an 11-year old thoroughly enjoyed our time there and highly recommend it to other couples and small families. The schoolhouse is a treasure trove of books, knickknacks, and fascinating collectibles. Marvie is an amazing host with lots of great tips and information about the area, not to mention she's just simply fun to talk to. We definitely found a great value for our money and a wonderful gem of a host that we'll never forget.

    Mark2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marvie's house is very distinct place, it is old in a very good sense of that word, it has history. It is very clean and has good amenities and is of decent size for family. Marvie herself is doing her best to make your stay comfortable and trouble free.

    Alexander2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. Right off the main road, very secluded, but Marvie was right there when we had questions. The school house was so cool with all the antiques and books and records! We had a blast.

  • We had an awesome stay here. It was our first experience in a tiny house and it lived up to the hype. This space is so creative, well kept and it truly feels bigger than it is. I’d recommend this for a solo traveler or a couple. It is also very close to Stratton and Mt. Snow. The kitchen is perfect for breakfast or a simple dinner. Awesome place!

  • The Green Mountain tiny house exceeded expectations for our ski weekend in VT. It was an ideal spot for traveling to and from Stratton Mtn, and served as an incredible place to relax and unwind after full days on the slopes. The fire pit/outdoor area was an awesome added bonus and the local tips we received from the hosts were greatly appreciated. We are already looking to plan a return trip, would highly recommend!

  • Carol's place was lovely. So easy to check in; a late arrival can simply head up to their room without bothering the host. Very clean and spacious, with coffee machine and cereal in room and coffee station in the hall. Lots of brochures and local info in the front hall. Would definitely stay again.

  • Carol and Dave's Inn was absolutely wonderful!! The Perfect weekend getaway to celebrate my Birthday and Enjoy the last of the STUNNING Fall Foliage. It's conveniently located within ten minutes drive of Downtown Bellows Falls, where you can find many lovely little shops, a couple stellar restaurants and cafe's, as well as a local theatre and some antique shopping! If you do not want to travel, there is a restaurant within walking distance in Saxtons River at the local Inn and also a market where you can find all the basics! The little village in Saxtons River is charming and the Property here is stunning! The house is beautiful, the rooms were very clean, there was coffee, cereal and fruit for the morning if you like and a small refrigerator in the room :-) Plenty of place to store your things and make yourself at home! And there are places to go for a walk! We absolutely LOVED staying at Dave and Carol's home and would absolutely stay there again! A truly great value and way to spend an October weekend! Thanks so much for having us!

  • A perfect Vermont getaway! A large, lovely home, very comfortable with beautiful views and wonderful amenities! Check in was easy, and there were readily available offerings of hot and cold drinks to help us relax after arrival. We had everything we needed in our room, and there was a plethora of local information available in the lobby. The area lovely, and we were able to enjoy a long walk in the surrounding neighborhood and woods. We would definitely stay again!

The glass cabin is a unique gem. Planted in the woods with the extra essentials you need, or want, you’re sure to be able to relax. There is NO ELECTRICITY but we have a heater for the cabin and power bank for your phones. :) We provide firewood and kindling for the fire pit. Late spring/summer- We do have a separate shower and minimalist bathroom, for all guests, in the warmer months. For winter- inquire when booking
There’s nothing better than waking up in the peacefulness of the woods, with the sun on your face, and having a bit more luxury than camping. Welcome to our happy place!
We are only one block from Jamaica State Park. There are beautiful hiking trails, fishing, swimming holes, and waterfalls galore. We are also 10 miles from Stratton. You can hike, ski, snowboard, mountain bike. Lots of live music in and around Jamaica as well!
  • This place was very unique and just about what we expected. We actually expected it to be a little smaller but it was a perfect size for two! The path up the hill to the tiny house was lit which was great to be able to see at night, although we had to be very careful to not slip on any ice/snow. There was a cafe and little market right across the street which was really convenient. Elizabeth made sure we had what we needed and let us know she was only a text/call away if we had any questions.

  • The studio apartment is so lovely. We adored the views, sunlight, and fresh air. The solar tracker in the back yard is also very cool. The hosts were very responsive and provided detailed instructions when I told them we would arrive late at night. We did get to chat with Susie on our way out the next morning. There is a night blooming cereus (plant) in the solarium beneath the apartment - what a treat! The location was especially excellent for its proximity to our hike the next morning.

  • This home is absolutely beautiful, set in historic, quaint Grafton. The environment and house are a perfect get-away.

  • This home is lovely. Everything is newly renovated and stylishly decorated. There's lots of gathering space on the first floor, because kitchen, dining room, and great room are open to each other. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. Grafton is a stunning small Vermont town, and it was particularly beautiful in the snow. This house was perfect for our use, as a place to stay for guests of a women's retreat weekend nearby.

  • Grafton is a pretty Vermont village and a perfect location for relaxing days in the countryside. Vanessas place is cozy and very well kept. It's located within walking distance to the village. We loved to leave the car at the house and walking around the neighbourhood. The house is spacious and well equipped. Actually we did not occupy all rooms. Upon arrival we felt like beeing home immediately. We had a few questions and all were answered immediately. We have been to many AirBNB places and this is one we definitely would love to rent again. All in all it was a perfect stay and we did not really want to leave for New York so soon.

  • The Kellstone Home exceeded our expectations as a place for a mini-family reunion. We arrived close to midnight, and the first thing I noticed when I got out of the car along with the crisp autumn air and dark night was the sound of water rushing in a babbling brook. I knew we had chosen a great location for our stay. Kellstone is a beautifully furnished home with all the amenities. Comfortable beds, quality towels/linens, high end soaps, tastefully decorated, exceedingly clean. The owners have spent a lot of time and thought into this property. The home is a short walk to the town of Grafton: We walked to the market for groceries, to some of the art galleries and stores in town. Grafton Trails is a short drive and provided some beautiful hikes with views of the town. On our way back from Manchester for lunch, we stopped at the Vermont Butcher in Londonderry, which I highly recommend for meats. Perfect for a weekend away with friends or family. Vanessa was an excellent hostess and her recommendations about town were spot on.

  • Vanessa’s house is beautiful, clean, and the perfect retreat for a weekend getaway in Vermont!

  • Beautiful house, kindest hosts, and easy walking distance from Grafton center. HIGHLY recommend!

  • A stylishly decorated, fully appointed, clean home in a fabulous location! Spacious, comfortable bedrooms and very nice, updated bathrooms. We loved staying here and only wish we had had more time to enjoy this gem!

  • We had a wonderful time at Vanessa’s home! The common area downstairs is an amazing space, and was great for our large group of friends to reconnect. The rooms are comfortable, and the whole house is beautifully decorated! My only regret is that we did not have another day!

Deep in the West River Valley region of Windham County, Lawrence Cottage Loft has a gorgeous setting upon Windham Hill. If you long for serenity and beauty, we have the perfect escape for you. We are convenient to all local amenities and activities and an easy drive from Boston or New York. We are near Townshend, Jamaica and Lowell Lake State Parks, as well as Tater Hill Golf Club and Stratton Mountain Resort. This is Vermont--of course we welcome people of all backgrounds.
The living room, large eat-in kitchen, washer/dryer, full bath and master bedroom are located downstairs. The kitchen also has a small, window-facing, work desk and chair with adjacent power plug and USB charger for laptop use. The upstairs bedroom has a locking door at the top. Its ceiling is a low, asymmetrical gable that is 6 feet (183 cm) at its highest point. The room has a half bath and its own heating and air conditioning.
Lawrence Cottage Loft is located on a gentle hillside in an area of stunning natural beauty. We are at the end of a long, private driveway and our friendly neighbors are at a comfortable distance. Old stone walls criss-cross the fields and forests that were farms and grazing lands many years ago. There are vast, open meadows adjacent to our property as well as a trail system through the forest (appropriate footwear is recommended). For skiers, Stratton, Mount Snow, Bromley and Magic Mountain resorts are all within a half-hour's drive. For golfers, Stratton Mountain Country Club (27 holes), Mount Snow Golf Club (18 holes), Tater Hill Golf Club (part of Okemo Mountain Resort, 18 holes), and Brattleboro Country Club (18 holes) are also within a half-hour's drive.
  • This was my second time staying at Lawrence Cottage and once again, it was fantastic. Amazing location, very secluded but still a quick drive to the ski mountains. Will continue to return when I'm in the area!

  • Can't recommend Ken's and Rebecca's cottage highly enough! This was our second visit and we are already looking forward to being back next winter. Gorgeous views, cozy rooms to wind down after long days on the slopes, well stocked up kitchen and great location, close to several ski resorts and good dining options.

  • This is a great space! I'd definitely recommend making sure you have 4 wheel drive if you come in the winter, 2 wheel drive wasn't enough to get us in and out of the driveway once it iced over. The hosts were super responsive and got someone out to put down sand very quickly, though!

    Brandi2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is great quiet location, perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts. Ken, Rebecca, and Lori provided timely communication and the home was exactly what we expected.

  • Beautiful, clean home - we really enjoyed our stay!

    Nathan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is probably the best I've ever experienced, and we've stayed in tons of wonderful Airbnbs. The house is private, quiet, clean, rustic, cozy, and loaded with amenities. The deck out back and the sunroom is really nice, the kitchen is great and well-stocked for cooking large meals, the wood stove adds a cozy touch and having a washer/dryer was awesome. Tons of privacy for the four of us who stayed. The views around the cottage are gorgeous. The price was so reasonable for what we experienced. We stayed here to go skiing at Stratton and it was about 20-25 minutes away. We spent 4 days here and had the best time cooking meals together and relaxing after skiing. If you want to get away and experience a quiet vacation, this is absolutely the place to be! I would give it 6 stars if I could.

  • It was a perfect cottage! Very clean, charming and convenient. Would recommend it to anyone

  • I’ve gone two years in a row and we’ve been very pleased on both occasions! Great value, lots of space and the location is fabulous!
