  • Charming cottage that is in a great location with just a short walk to Manini beach! My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Ron and Karen are very careful to respect your privacy, but are around if you have questions or want a brief chat. They have many very good recommendations for things to do on the island that helped to make our stay special. There are numerous details in this cottage that have history and meaning. Ask Ron about some of the components, they come with a good story!

  • The cottage is so cute and charming to stay in. Karen and her husband were amazing hosts. As we got in, Karen showed us around to the beach and gave us insights of the area. Snorkeling at the beach was amazing. Lots of bright-colored fish by the reef. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed the decor of the cottage.

  • Great location, great cottage, great hosts. A real gem. Ideal for snorkelling, kayaking, enjoying the sea shore and beautiful sunsets. Encounter with dolphins almost guaranteed.

  • The Bali Cottage is a rustic, comfy space and hosts Karen and Ron are exceptional. They will bend over backwards to make sure guests are comfortable; the location is awesome, shady, and a 5 minute walk to Manini Beach. Everything you need is available in the cottage: coolers, beach towels, boogie boards, and toiletries just in case you forget yours! Go to sleep with the gentle sound of the surf... and wake up with the sun shining in your outdoor shower!

  • Stay here! It’s definitely more of a “glamping” vibe but so amazing! We loved waking up to the sounds of the ocean and wildlife. Very friendly hosts! The snorkel gear was awesome to have when we hiked to Captain Cook!

    Amanda2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most unique and memorable places I’ve ever stayed. Karen and Ron were very friendly hosts, who made sure we felt right at home.

    Bob2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough words to say how wonderful the Bali Cottage and Karen are. The space is AMAZING, the only negative thing I can think of is now all other Airbnb’s or even hotels or even my own home will all fall short of the magic that is the Bali Cottage. Karen is super communicative and welcoming and even walked me down to the beach when I got there, which btw is also amazing and charming. Literally could write a book on how much I loved my stay. Thank you again Karen for sharing your space with the world!

  • A magical place! It has so much atmosphere and quirky touches. Kitchen had everything we needed and we spent a lot of our time on the porch. Didn’t miss the lack of air conditioning for our visit in November. We really settled in and enjoyed our 3 days immensely. You’re not just staying at a place, you’re really being hosted.

Aloha and Mahalo for visiting my listing. "Pl.note that I don't have included the Transient /Ge tax ( 14.50%) in my price since it would reflect in the fee you pay to airbnb. I will collect it upon arrival." This place is nesteld on the slope of Hualalei mountain inmidst of coffee farms, from this cooler elevation (1200ft.) it is only 15 min./7 miles to Kailua -Kona, the nearest Beaches and Supermarket.
This downstair apartment is fully private with private entrance, bedroom has a queen bed, bathroom with bathtub/shower, walk-in closet. Lanai ( Porch) with view. Kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, electric skillet and electric pot, toaster, coffee maker, electric water kettle, rice cocker and a blender. Linen, towels and beach towels are provided. Free wireless internet, use of BBQ, car port. At 1200 elevation it is nice to come home from a day of activities at the beach to a cooler climate and quiet neighborhood to relax and watch the sunset from the lanai with view.
It is located in the midst of the famous Kona Coffee region, just 1 min. north from old charming Holualoa town with many Art Gallerys, a grocerie store, post office, coffee shop, and a wonderful outdoor restaurante (slow food). In just 12 min. ( or 7miles) you are in Kailua Kona town or at the nearest beaches.
  • The apartment is perfect! It is very well equipped, clean and offers a very nice view to watch sunsets. We enjoyed the stay very much and can just recommend it!

  • A quiet space a little away from Holualoa Town, a large site with lots of fruit trees and trees. There is a two-story house in that space. The second floor is the host house and the first floor is the guest house. There are many similar homes around the property, in a quiet, relaxed and lovely area away from the hustle and bustle. Located at the foot of Mount Faralai and away from the sea, it is not too hot and cool. It's a bit cool in the morning and evening, so it's a good idea to have long sleeves. Rooms are clean and well cleaned. Cooking utensils are available, and there are rice cookers, microwave ovens, ovens, electric pots, hot plates, toasters, coffee makers, etc., so you can cook yourself without any problems. Since there is also a coffee mill, you can grind the purchased Kona coffee beans and drink it immediately. There is also a cartridge type water purifier, so there is no need to buy water. In addition, there are a lot of beach gear, and beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler boxes, snorkels, cool bottles, etc. were handy. The view from Lanai is a lot of trees underneath, the town of Kailua-Kona and the vast sea far away. Every day I spent watching beautiful sunsets. The lanai is large, so you can eat at the table or relax on the sofa. Rent-a-car is essential, but it is about 15 to 20 minutes drive to Kailua Kona, Keauhou shopping center and beach. Every day I went to KTA, Safeway, Target, Walmart and Kahaluu Beach. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the host lived on the second floor, so there was no need to receive or hand over the keys, just putting the keys on the table. The host woman is very kind and will answer me politely if I have anything, and I'm on the second floor so I can go to listen immediately. It keeps your private well, so you will rarely meet and help you only when you need it. I think it is the best location to spend your time on the Big Island slowly and comfortably, but I think it is a good distance for those who are actively moving to Hilo, Volcano, Mauna Kea, North Kona and many beaches, I went many times during my stay. Especially in the middle of the Kona coffee cultivation area, you can easily go around the coffee plantation everywhere. I stayed for about 3 weeks, but anyway, I found the location, environment, room and host to be satisfactory.

  • Karoline and her dog Hano are lovely hosts and her place was just perfect for our stay on the big island! Karoline has a beautiful house and guest apartment. Everything was sparkling clean and decorated in a cozy hawaiian style. We cooked a lot and were genuinely surprised by how good the kitchen devices (mixer, pans etc.) are! The whole apartment is very well thought through and Karoline goes above and beyond to ensure that her guests enjoy their stay. She even provided us with fresh fruits from her own garden! She also makes her own soapes and pays special attention to the environment and holding a sustainable houshold. Hano is the cutest, a very friendly, goofy and even a little shy doggo that one cannot help but love. We also loved the view from the apartment. One can see the ocean and watch the most amazing sunsets whilest sipping on a cold Big Wave or Longboard. So, if you get the chance stay here and enjoy this beautiful island from the very best airbnb.

  • Spectacularly natural, lush surroundings.. beautiful garden, flowers fruit and coffee. A delightful place to stay where everything is thoughtfully provided for you.

    Mark2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Karoline’s place was warm and cozy as described. It has a neat view of the ocean, and the property itself is surrounded by lush trees. The house was stocked with amazing coffee beans, which my husband really enjoyed having. Karoline’s dog, Hano, was a cool hang out in the mornings. The place is conveniently located to Kona and other beaches (about 15-20mins drive). Highly recommend it.

    Rasika2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Karolines house is very charming and well kept in every detail, and with a beautiful view over the garden and to the ocean. Peaceful area and close to a nice little village.

  • If you are going to the big island, want a spectacular view, comfortable stay, and a wonderful host than we recommend this cozy magnificent spot overlooking Kona. We will never forget our trip and appreciated every second of our time here. Thank you Karoline 🌺

  • One of the best Airbnb’s we have ever stayed in. It was a perfect home to us during our trip to Captain Cook. Jesse and Lucia were great at checking in and making sure we were taken care of. We wish we had known about the roosters, we eventually got used to them, but the first night was definitely a surprise! I would recommend ear plugs to any light sleepers, but the (other) sounds of nature were wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to. I loved the openness of the living room; we really felt connected to nature and it definitely helped us relax and enjoy. The floor above can be nosy if others are walking around, but that’s to be expected anywhere you stay, really. But again, we really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again. Thank you for everything! Mahalo!

    Lydia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing, design and decor was one of a kind. Definitely enjoyed our stay here! Very warm and welcoming hosts

  • We loved our stay at the Mango Farm! Thank you to Heather for making us feel right at home!

    Lisa2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to kick off our honeymoon. Heather provides us with all the amenities and recommendations to enjoy our stay as a “local” - which is our favorite way to travel. The fresh fruit from farm was a plus :) We arrived after dark and check in was easy and the location was simple to find. Beaches, restaurants and markets were 10-20 minutes away. We loved being away from the hustle, nestled into nature. We miss falling asleep to the sound of the frogs. It was hard not to be emotional upon leaving. It truly felt like home. We plan to visit again :)

  • Such a wonderful guest experience at Jerry and Alice's Kona Magic Sands place...we did not want our stay to end! Everything you need for a wonderful vacation is included - from a comfortable bed, all kitchen utensils and appliances, very nice linens and towels and anything you would need for a day at the beach. It is hard to describe the views and sounds of the ocean...there were days we just opened the lanai and spent most of the day enjoying the scenery (and serenity). And after a day of touring, it was so nice to come back and just enjoy the ocean, pool and making dinner in their well-equipped kitchen. We would actually look forward to returning each afternoon/evening to enjoy their place and the atmosphere. Jerry and Alice are such sincere and caring hosts... they truly want guests to enjoy their experience. There were tropical fresh flowers waiting for us as well as bananas from their own tree! We were sad when our stay ended and hope to be guests again! A wonderful, fabulous experience! Mahalo Jerry and Alice for sharing your paradise with us!

    Shannon2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing views and place. We saw whales, dolphins, fish, and turtles all from our condo! Jerry and Alice were some of the nicest people Ive ever met, very accomodating and definitely went above and beyond. We are definitely hoping to come back and stay here again.

  • It was very relaxing to hear the constant splashing of the waves, which sent us to sleep immediately! The Magic Sands restaurant was excellent, convenient and fun. Great to have an allocated parking space.

    Sharon2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry & Alice are the kind of hosts that you remember for years, their kindness and warm communication, they feel like friends rather than hosts. We will never forget the roar of the waves, the breath taking sunsets and the whales and dolphins daily transiting out front. 🐳🌊 🌅

    Darrell2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jerry and Alice's condo. The views were magnificent - a perfect place to take in an ocean sunset. Was nice to be able to lie in bed and hear the sound of the waves. The location was great too, right next to a nice beach and an easy drive to any other Kona destination. Jerry and Alice were great hosts and provided all the info we needed for our trip along with plenty of suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We would love to stay at their place again.

    David2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry and Alice are wonderful hosts and their condo is amazing. I would definitely come back here.

  • Amazing views from bed! The whole place is so cutely decorated and Jeff's hospitality was spectacular. Aside from the bedroom and bathroom the common spaces are outside. it was not dirty place by any means but as most out side places leafs fall and wind can blow dust. would not recommend if camping is not your thing but we loved the location and the stay!

    Alexandria2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse was more than we expected. Feeling the air blow through the entire area was very surreal coming from a cold climate. The birds singing was a great start to the day followed by fresh eggs from the chicken coop for breakfast. The bed is very comfortable and the view from it was to die for. You won’t be disappointed. Mahalo Jeff, Lisa and Jeff British Columbia, Canada

    Jeff2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is absolutely magical! The view from bed is straight out of a magazine, with the outdoor kitchen, luxurious bathroom, and sitting area all delivering fantastic attention to detail. After a visit to the little farm on site to fetch fresh eggs and say hi to the pigs, you'll be wondering why you don't live there yourself! Thanks for such a great stay!

    Sean2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is a perfect place to stay in Kona. It’s close to everything, the amenities are great, and you won’t find a more fun, interesting airbnb on the island. Jeff was welcoming, super easy to communicate with, and seems to be constantly improving the place. A+ would sleep again

  • My husband and I stayed here for our 1 year anniversary and it was unbelievable! The pictures look incredible of the tree house but in person it will truly take your breath away! Jeff was kind enough to bring us some fresh bananas and tangerines from the garden. Amazing trip!

You will love this neighborhood! The top two reasons are privacy and the cool temperatures. Our subdivision is divided up into 3 acre lots, which means the next neighbor's house is about 200 yards away. The Kaloko area is one of Kona's most desirable places to live and visit. We are 15 minutes from downtown Kona and shops, 10 minutes from the airport, 7 minutes to Costco, and within 15 minutes to several beautiful beaches. This is the most ideal location when staying in the Kona area.
  • The location of Jeff’s place was perfect for my trip. I enjoyed the cool nights and lovely view. The bed is quite comfortable and being a tall person I really appreciated the high shower head height. The space is clean, parking in a covered garage was a plus, and being greeted by Marley, their dog, in the mornings for belly rubs was sweet. I did not have need to interact with Jeff much but he was always around so I knew if I needed anything I could easily reach him. As a solo traveler I felt safe at Jeff’s place.

  • This was a wonderful stay for the price. Every detail was taken care of, and it is clean as can be! Jeff was a perfect host who was very responsive and attentive during our stay! The property is lovely and we slept very well. It’s super nice to stay out of town for a couple reasons: 1. The crowds and extreme congestion don’t exist at Jeff’s place. 2. The cooler temperatures make for very comfortable sleeping. No complaints 👍🏼

    Laurie Medeiros2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff is very kind and generous. The fruits available are seasonal. We were fortunate to have fresh picked papayas, avocados, guavas, dragonfruit, and bananas. As well as fresh eggs from the chickens. We loved his dog Marley and hugged him everyday. The location had an incredible view and wonderful feel. We will definitely return.

  • Great place. No improvements necessary.

    Sarah2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff’s place was great and he was an awesome host. He shared some “praying hands” bananas and had ample beach supplies on hand. The place is just hit enough for 2 people for a few nights as we explored Kona and the surroundings. We’d definitely stay here again.

    Adam2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff's place was amazing. The view from the house is beautiful and Jeff allowed us to walk basically all around the property. He had chickens and pigs on the property, as well as a cute lab named Marley! We had the best time playing with Marley when we were around. The studio itself was very clean and well kept. Perfect amount of space for two of us and in a great location. The main city/beach area was only 15 minutes or so away, which made it easy for us to come back during the day if we wanted to. Overall, great place to stay.

    Jocelyn2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely small farm in a good residential area above Kona, but still convenient to the town and beaches. Jeff is an attentive host and his enthusiasm to share his love for his farm is a great bonus. This is what makes the BnB stays so much more enjoyable than a homogenous hotel experience.

Are you looking for a vacation where you pull into a small residential neighborhood, see how life is lived here at 900 ft elevation just outside of the Kona Village? Then you will love the Harbor View Hale that is nestled in a very tight knit community! It is a private 500 sq ft, 1 Bedroom apartment located in the lower part of our house only shared walls with a laundry room and a mostly unused guest bedroom to our part of the house and its private entrance. We have renovated this one Bedroom with all our love and our utmost priority was to provide you a seamless, worry free vacation with all the luxuries we could fit in. When we picked out materials, appliances, linens and furniture... the priority was always quality, cohesiveness as supposed to what was the cheapest. We are looking for guests who appreciate quality. Well stocked KITCHEN: - Mustard, Ketchup, Mayo, Olive Oil, Vinegar, Himalayan Salt, Black Pepper, Soy Sauce, Hot Sauce, different spices and dried herbs (from Cayenne to Garam Masala), Sugar, Coffee and Tea -Professional non-stick pots -any kitchen tool to cook the usual meal -Storage containers, bags -Cooling elements and bag for your pick nicks -Blender, Water kettle, rice cooker, coffee grinder, coffee machine, microwave, toaster oven, full size fridge with freezer -options to eat on the nice lanai or in the dining area inside
From the Harbor View Hale it is only a 7 minute ride by CAR to Kona town center where you will be able to get groceries, dining, beach activities (SUP, Kayak, Parasail, glass bottom boat, snorkeling, swimming, etc), banks, gas stations, happy hours, pharmacy, parks, tours etc. The closest beach is in town ( Magic Sands, Kona Pier, Old Airport), however our favorite beach "KUA BAY" is just 15 minutes down the "Queen K" highway up north. However the west side of the Big Island is lined with spectacular beaches from 10 minutes away, to all the way up north where you will drive 50 minutes to an hour. The closest and very nice coffee farm is just 5 minutes up on Mamalahoa Hwy. "Hula Daddy" or "UCC Coffee" There is a great beginners snorkel spot in town called Kahalu'u. You can get your first snorkel experience here... if you are more advanced, you can go down south to 2 Step beach, where also in the early morning you may see some dolphins playing in the water. The Airport is 15 minutes away, just far enough that we don't hear or see it. :-) The Kona Marina, you can see from your lanai and is about 5-7 minutes down the hill. This is where many of the dolphin, manta ray, snorkel, deep see fishing trips depart from. To the right of the marina is an old Hawaiian holy ground, where you will often encounter sea turtles. The neighborhood is called Kealakehe or "Harbor View". There is an elementary school about 2 streets away, many families live in this area. We live our daily life here in this house as well, so daily common activities happen. :-)
  • Great Airbnb if you wanna see a different side to the hawaii life

    Kaylee2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Harbor View Hale! While we could tell we were in for a treat from the informative listing, the actual experience surpassed our expectations from the moment we checked in. The Hale is very conveniently located just a few minutes drive from downtown Kailua-Kona. The space is immaculately kept and very comfortable with all the amenities and furnishings you could hope for and then some. Jaan and Saima were very clear and timely with all of their communications and left great information in the Hale about the Big Island and things to do in the local area and elsewhere. Great space, great location, great hosts. We wholeheartedly recommend.

    Nate2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • I wish there were more than 5 stars to give. The entire experience (from booking to checkout) was exceptional. The property was spotless with so many extras, it would take all day to list them. The location was great. The fresh papaya from their tree was incredible. The view was excellent. Can't recommend Jaan and Saima as hosts highly enough.

    Peggy2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jaan and Saima's place was fantastic! You can tell that they care about creating a great experience for guests and have great pride in their rental. Lots of little extras and sweet touches made this place feel more like home, and we would absolutely rent from them again. Mahalo for a fantastic stay!

    Sarah2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jaan and Saima’s place is wonderful! Clean, great location and amazing view. They are very thoughtful hosts and I cannot recommend their place enough if you are staying in the area.

    Charly2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we booked this place we were treated like royalty. Excellent communication with lots of ideas on things to do and check in info. The description and amenities were accurate (actually the reality was way beyond our expectation). This is a one bedroom/kitchen/sitting area/shower/laundry/private balcony with a view flat in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was clean, parking was easy, free and safe. We were right up the hill from Costco. The place was equipped with everything you could need - most importantly a cooler, boogie board, beach chairs and umbrella, picnic dishes. The kitchen has necessary appliances like a good coffee maker/grinder, toaster oven, microwave, full size fridge and oven. Good knives and dishes for food prep if that's your thing and other supplies to make you feel at home. We were able to plug in our devices conveniently in every room. There's no AC but we didn't need it - there was a nice breeze plus fans in every room. We can't say enough about this place - we will be back. Thank you Jaan and Saima!

    Edith2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jaan and Saima have an awesome place, well appointed with many nice touches and amenities. The lanai is large and has a great view and the multiple fans were also helpful. Lots of beach gear to use as well. Above the hustle and bustle of Kona but just a few minutes drive to “the action”. Highly recommend this place to all travelers.

    Steve2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Harbor View Hale was an amazing stay. They put so much thought and detail into making you feel comfortable. The fresh fruit and breakfast were just one of the many things that made our stay extremely comfortable. Any item that you may need is there for you.. there are small labels around next to windows, and in the kitchen that help with some of the confusion on where things are and how to work them. Plus the location and view!! Could not beat that. I also loved the homemade lilikoi jelly souvenirs and Jaan makes. I bought 4 to take home! We had no trouble with parking, and most things are 10-30 minutes out. But driving in Hawaii is not like 30 minutes driving back home. Every trip feels short! The bed, pillows, furniture, appliances, flooring, everything is such nice quality. I love the table in the living room, the plants, I love the bookshelf in the bedroom and how the closet is designed. Even the hangers are the best felt hangers. From a functionality standpoint, 5 Stars!

A bright and modern room in a stunning, open air house that is just 10 minutes to the nearest beach and to town. Enjoy a beautiful shared pool, ocean views from the lanai, and laid back Hawaii living. The house has a koi pond, eclectic decor, and backs out to a beautiful nature reserve.
The Koi House is a home that echos a relaxed way of life. It is an open air space with plants, a koi fish pond, natural and upcycled materials, and serene forest & ocean views. * This is a room in a shared space, with 2 other rooms nearby. The vibe is casual, communal and friendly. * The room, like most homes in Hawaii, has no air conditioning. There are 3 fans in the room. Summers, especially, are hot. Please keep this in mind when booking. We live here year round without A/C but highlight it here since we know it is important to some travelers. * Young kids live in the main part of the home.
The neighborhood is very central to Kona town, but quiet and suburban in style. Our house sits at the edge of a nature reserve, so it feels rural and private. The location is really convenient- close to the highway that takes right into town within 10 min, close to Alii Dr. right along the ocean (by Magic Sands and Kahaluu Beach park), close to many snorkeling locations down south.

Centrally located between South Kohala's beaches, and the dining and entertainment scene of Kailua-Kona, the Kaloko Coffee Cottage is at a cool elevation making naps after morning/day adventures a...well a dream! Far from any roads, the dominant sounds are the many birds who make their homes in the surrounding trees. This is a thoughtfully furnished home with an open layout, on a Kona coffee farm, just bring your food and clothes for which ever adventure you intend; leave the accommodations and ambiance to us and Hawaii.
Private 1 bedroom 1 bathroom Cottage with a full kitchen (fully equipped) and laundry. The bedroom and lanai have fabulous ocean views. There is a brand new queen bed and also a new queen memory foam pull out couch. There is fast WiFi and a comfortable work space. The tv has a fire stick for prime movies and shows. The house is accessed by its own gated driveway at the end of a quiet road. (If you care for a stroll it is an Excellent road for it!) The lanai is a great place to sit and enjoy a morning cup of coffee while watching the boats go out from the harbor. It is on a beautiful fenced property with coffee, citrus, and avocado trees.
The cottage is set at the end of a quiet one lane road on the hillside of Mount Hualalai, at a scenic elevation of 1600 feet. There are many beautiful hikes nearby such as the Jurassic Trail and Kaloko Cloud Forest Trail.
  • This cottage is perfect in every way. The location is close to town and beaches yet far enough removed to be private and quiet. I would absolutely recommend it and would stay here again.

  • What an awesome 3 days we had here! Private, quiet, cool and felt so nice! An extremely well stocked vacation rental with a spectacular view of the ocean and sunset. Comfy bed and really comfy couch. You won’t be sorry if you stay here, such a welcome change from the heat & crowds of Kailua Kona. So beautiful!

    Dawn2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, spacious cottage with perfect privacy and stunning sunsets. Always a little breeze so no need for A/C. A plus are the mosquite-netted windows, although we did not encounter a single one! While there are further houses nearby, the cottage itself is really private and kind of remote. We would stay in the cottage again.

  • Really well appointed cosy cottage for a couple ... we stayed for a week. Great base of operations with nice views of the sea. Quiet location yet very handy if travelling north and east. Hosts very professional, great communicators. Highly recommended.

  • Wow! This place is absolutely awesome. Private, spotless, homey, far enough away to be private, yet close enough to have a great time. Plenty of amenities and hot water and a bathtub. My personal favorite. We opened every window and basked in the ocean breeze. You can see the ocean from the porch and bedroom window. It’s got a full kitchen. Stop at Safeway and get what you need first. It’s only about 10 minutes away. We had a teeny tiny issue, that I’m reluctant to even mention, and the only reason I am is to let you know Maura handled it right away. If we come back to Hawai’i, this is where we will stay! Mahalo

This is a very small space that is meant to serve the basic needs of travelers on a budget. Comfortable, clean, detached studio guesthouse conveniently located close to downtown Kailua-Kona yet removed from the hustle and bustle in a residential neighborhood. 20 minutes from the airport.
This is a very small space, approximately 300 sq ft. Perfect for solo or couple travelers on a budget. It will meet your basic needs with a comfortable place to sleep, shower, a microwave, dishes, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, and two fans. The room can get hot during the day, especially during hotter times of the year, yet since it is located at a fairly high elevation it cools down nicely at night. Two fans provided. There is no closet or dresser but there are some shelves that can be used for clothing storage. Wifi provided. Conveniently located a mile and a half from Safeway and Walmart and approximately a 10 minute drive from downtown Kailua-Kona. This is a very old Hawaiian neighborhood and the space is an old structure. Although it is clean and comfortable, this is Hawaii, please do not be frightened if you encounter some ants in the unit. The shower is very old and has collected some stains over the years but I assure, it is scrubbed after each guest checks out. Must be okay with animals as there is a cat that lives on the property and hangs out in the carport area nearby the unit and will most likely come to say hello. He does not have access to your unit if you do not want him to. There are also two dogs that live on the property but you will most likely not encounter them as they live in the main house and stick to the backyard. The houses in this neighborhood are close together and windows are left open for a nice island breeze so please expect to hear some level of neighborhood life.
Old residential neighborhood. Home is located on a quiet cul de sac. 1.5 miles from Safeway and Walmart. 10 minute drive to downtown Kona and 20 minutes from the airport.
  • Super clear and timely communication with easy check in. A perfect little spot for a traveler on a budget.

  • Hannah’s place was perfect for our one night stay after a long flight from NYC. Easy check in, comfy bed and some nice reading material about the big island made for a short lovely stay. Also appreciated the soft fluffy towels to wash the long plane ride off (it’s the little things :) Thanks Hannah!

    Nitasha2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very easy to get to from the airport using google. Great location to downtown Kona (about 8 min drive). Very clean and quite. Exactly like the pictures! Great space for the price.

    Patricia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is excellent if you need a spot to stay close to the airport! The bed was super comfortable and the host provided us with two towels! There were two fans to keep you nice and cool. Ideal for a couple or solo traveller. We were only there for one night and was staying at another Airbnb for the week. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it wasn’t the most clean.. it smelled a little musty and there were splatters all over the mirror in the bathroom.. it’s super convenient but I probably wouldn’t stay here for more than a night or two..with that being said the host was very quick to respond and overall was a pleasant interaction/experience.

    Sav2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great as a stop over near the airport--had everything you need! Hannah was great, and answered my call when I got lost. A very gracious host! Thank you!

    Cindy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We felt comfortable and can recommend it. Unit larger than expected. Functionally furnished. However, there is no storage space. No closet, no clothes rail, few hooks. The fridge in the room runs quietly. Microwave, coffee machine and basic kitchen equipment available. Wifi stable. Cleanliness ok, same as bed linen and towels. No roommates with multiple legs. Wash and dry for free. Quiet surroundings. Pure residential area in the hills in front of Kona. Parking in front of the door. 5 minutes by car to the next Walmart / Safeways. From 10 minutes by car into the tourist bustle. Easy check in and check out. Contact the landlord only in writing, not in person. Hannah always replies super quickly. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio was very good. It was enough to sleep. We would book it again for this.

    Markus2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

Fantastic ocean views, quiet and peaceful, yet less than 10 minutes from the center of town and the beach, and 20 minutes to the Kona airport (KOA). "Ohana" means family in the Hawaiian language. Because so many families share homes in Hawaii, it has also come to mean private cottage or apartment attached to or near the main residence. Our Ohana suite is a secure, private, attached studio apartment sharing one wall, with full bath, kitchenette with fridge and everything needed for food preparation , and covered lanai (balcony) with uninterrupted ocean views. It has a private entrance, with a shared yard featuring a fairy garden, playhouse, and swings. Our house is pet-free and allergy friendly with vinyl plank flooring and linens dried with hot air. We also provide beach gear including a beach blanket, snorkels, fins, picnic cooler, and a boogie board. Just a 10-minute drive from downtown or the beach, this elevation experiences pleasant temperatures all year long. Wake up to the chorus of the birds and a stunning ocean view.
  • What a great place! My husband and I stayed for 5 nights during our vacation and we couldn’t have been happier. The location in the Kona area was convenient, and the amenities within the apartment were perfect. It’s super cute, and they’ve thoughtfully made sure it includes everything you need, even things like beach towels, a small portable cooler for day trips, umbrellas, etc. The front deck has such a lovely view and the backyard was a nice surprise. We didn’t get to meet them but communication was great over Airbnb messages. I was a hit worried about the driveway and it is pretty steep, but our SUV rental handled it just fine if we drove carefully.

  • This airbnb is very cute, sparkling clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, yet quiet and off the beaten path. We appreciated the use of beach gear, including towels, snorkeling gear, chairs, boogie boards, an umbrella and even a cooler with an ice pack. Chris was very attentive to any questions and usually got back to us within 10 minutes of posing a question.

  • Our stay was perfect! Chris made sure we had the pack n play and high chair for our 20 month old. The play area in the back was perfect for him! He napped and slept great with the black out curtains (so did we). All the extras were great too: the towels for the beach, the snorkel gear, & beach gear. I really enjoyed sitting out on the patio watching the ocean. We have already recommended this place to our friends!

The ground floor separate apartment with private entrance and designated off-street parking consists of a bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed, living area with full and twin size (child size) futon, full eat in kitchen, spacious bathroom (shower but no tub) tropical decor and an outdoor deck for relaxing. There are ceiling fans in each room, but no AC. We find it comfortable most of the year, but you may not be use to tropical temperatures and humidity. Please consider this when selecting a place to stay. We are located on a quiet cul-de-sac, but there is some road noise from Alii Dr and the sound of the waves during high surf. We live upstairs and are usually up around 6am. We do our best to minimize any noise, but you may hear plumbing sounds, footsteps and normal household activities. If you are a late or light sleeper, our home may not be the best fit for you. We love the Big Island and look forward to sharing our knowledge with you. Amenities provided include: • Free high speed internet via wi-fi • Basic Cable TV • Keyless Lock • Full Kitchen – Fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, rice cooker • Pots & Pans • Cooking utensils • Dishes and cutlery • All linens provided • Gas BBQ Grill • Beach Chairs for 2 • Boogie Boards for 2 • Snorkel Gear for 2. Shared Washer/Dryer on request. If you have a 5th in your party, ask about our extra person fee. No Smoking Please- $200 Security/Cleaning deposit. This will be refunded if you leave the apartment clean and as you found it. For bookings made before 12/22/19 there is an additional charge of 14.962% for Hawaii Transient Accommodation Tax/GE (as noted in the listing at the time you booked) collected at arrival via cash or check USD or we can arrange payment prior to your arrival via the resolution center. For new bookings made after 12/22/19, the Hawaii GET and TAT tax are included in the final invoice.
Located on a cul-de-sac in a quiet residential neighborhood with easy access to local beaches and sightseeing. Walking distance to several beach parks and snorkel areas. 1.5 miles to Keauhou Shopping Center with a grocery store, drug store, restaurants, movie theater and shopping. Planning your trip- We recommend 7 to 10 days to experience most of the highlights of the Big Island. The Kona side has much to offer in the way of beaches, water sports, golfing and dining. It is about a 2-3 hour drive to the volcano area or Hilo and 1 hour drive up to the northern part of the island. While you can see all the areas from one location, we think splitting your stay between the east and west sides offers the best arrangement.
  • We felt very comfortable, the apartment was bigger than we expected and you could easily stay with two more persons. It’s nice and quiet, everything was very clean. A little damage was fixed right away by the owner. We didn’t want to leave and looking forward to come back some time :) Liz and Robert are great hosts. Mahalo :)

  • Our stay here was completely wonderful. The location is perfection and the suggestions of what to do were spot on! We enjoyed every second and are so happy we got to stay here. Way beyond our expectations.... thank you so much.

    Lorraine2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great quiet home one block up from Alii drive, the main strip in Kona. Walking distance to the beach or pack up and drive. Seems to be an active spot for joggers. Beautiful clear water. We especially loved two restaurants near by (a good walk but doable) The Rock and Hugo's. It's the same owners, restaurants side by side but different menus and price. Super super great location for a sun set and our favorite MaiTai. You need reservations for the Rock. You can feel the influx of travellers when a cruise ship shows up but being there for a couple of days you can avoid the main strip. For some great snorkelling visit Two Step park.

    Lucio2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place in a great location to explore the Kona side of the island. It is in a quiet neighborhood where the only noises are that of nature. Beautiful flowers and back gardens. Bed and futon were comfortable. Lots of amenities to enjoy your day at the beach and close to restaurants or excursions. Thanks Liz and Robert for everything!

    Melissa2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent outdoor space at property. Worth noting that swimming on the nearby coast could require foot ware because of rocks. Availability of snorkel equipment etc and body boards was welcome and overall our stay was a very relaxing experience.

    Richard2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location close to beaches, local shopping center and downtown restaurant row. Quiet location, bird songs await you in the morning. Host were available when needed but provided privacy. Definitely would stay here again!

    Ric2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • It is beautiful, quiet, spacious, and comfortable. We had a really good time. Highly recommended!

    Xu2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location-loved being able to walk to a great snorkeling beach and avoid the traffic of downtown Kona, and still be able to get there easily to enjoy the restaurants and other amenities. The outside lanai and gardens were very nice, with a good spot to wash off beach sand. Would stay there again for sure!

We are a nicely appointed condo in the heart of Old Kona Town. We are across from the Hulie'e Palace and only a couple of hundred feet from the ocean. There are restaurants, galleries, Kona coffee houses and exotic shopping right out our doors. Tax #: W70176163-01 Price includes state taxes.
This beautiful condo was just fully and expertly remodeled and furnished. It is new inside with sophisticated Polynesian accents. We are in the heart of downtown Kona on the island of Hawaii or "The Big Island". We overlook the oldest church in Hawaii, Mokuaikaua Church, and the Hulihee Royal Palace in downtown Kona. We are steps away from the pier, restaurants and special activities. This is the heart of the old village of Kona, literally in the back yard of the Hulihee Palace. We have one bedroom one bath with large lanai and a new kitchen, fully stocked with all the necessary dishes. Although we are in the core and center of the town, we are quiet because of the church as our closest neighbor. We are on the quiet side of our building orientated toward the church grounds. We have covered and secured parking in a garage and elevators from the parking area. Cable, high-speed internet and a new washer/dryer is included. This is truly a wonderful property unique because of its setting. Our building includes a wonderful pool and barbecue decks which overlook the busy Ali'i Drive and the Pacific Ocean. Step out of the parking garage and you are in the middle of our restaurant and shopping area. Prices include Hawaii tax of 13.42%! This is important when comparing prices because many people add it onto the posted price. WE ARE NON-SMOKING!
I just love living in downtown Kona. We are on the quiet end of the "strip" here along the oceanfront at Kailua Bay. It is quiet in our neighborhood soon after dark. Just a few blocks down along the waterfront are our nightclubs and late-night restaurants with daily live music. It really is a special place, very calm with many shopping, dining and night club options.
  • This unit has everything. Clean and well looked after. It’s in the heart of downtown Kona. Easy to walk the street for local shopping and restaurants. Ed went out of his way to get us special beach chairs that we asked for. We would come back to this unit.

    Caroline2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The access was simple, Edward always responded to texts and questions fast, and the area is right by the beach and a bunch of shops! Such a cool area with lots to do, right on the ocean. Will definitely be coming back!

    Gabrielle2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This unit is great...an ideal price in an ideal location. It was convenient to get to places, a wonderful unit layout, and an important aspect of our two weeks on the Big Island.

    Jill2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Edward was such a great host for us! We only stayed with him one night. Our flight got in late, but he was still responsive when we messaged him. He was even willing to work with us on our check out time so we could enjoy our day in Kona without having to lug our bags around with us. The place was stylishly decorated, comfortable, impeccably clean and easy to access. Thank you Edward for a wonderful stay!

    Diana2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This clean unit is in a quiet location that it very close to the waterfront as well as many shops and stores. It was comfortably furnished inside as well as on the lanai. Edward has stocked his place with many thoughtful items and was quick to respond to our questions. The underground garage parking was very convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Sharon2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and great host. After I realized that I had booked the wrong night he set me up with another of his properties at a discounted rate.

    John2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place has a great location right next to great restaurants and shopping yet quiet.

    Stephanie2019-11-14T00:00:00Z

  • A perfect place for us. Good location for all trips, very good facilities, everything was there. The road to the house is a bit steep with a big car. We felt very comfortable. A great veranda with a wonderful view. Mahalo

    Katrin2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice location. Far from the big tourist spots, without being too far either. The location is great, in nature. Melinda was welcoming and kind. Overall the experience is good. The cleaning is done, but the walls are dirty and the couches dusty and with cat hair. 2 cats live in the house downstairs; but goes upstairs (part which is rented airbnb) and he is able to open the door. I think some visitors let him in. My allergies manifested quite a bit. But hey, I would come back to this place without asking myself the question; we liked a lot. :) Really cheap for what it is!

    Gabrielle2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Breathtaking beautiful view of the valley and ocean from the wraparound porch. Kitchen has everything needed for fixing a quick meal. The sink, as mentioned previously, has been well used but functional. 2 nice bedrooms with storage. Many amenities to bath area. Owner lives downstairs and will be readily accessible if needed. Enjoyed our stay

    Diane2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious place set up in the mountains. Quiet at night with just some nature sounds. Very peaceful.

    Josh2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The lanai was a wonderful place for morning tea or sunset relaxing. The beds were very comfortable. It was a great base for jumping off into our adventures.

    Denise2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful view! Spacious home. We loved having access to a full kitchen and made use of the stove, rice cooker, and coffee maker. Not as much wiildlife ambiance as other places on the island, but at night we did hear the occasional coqui or falling avocado. Driveway is a little tricky to get out of (on a steep hill, in the bend of a winding road). Would stay here again!

    Helen2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly hostess. Very nice view. Spacious accommodation with great amenities. Highly recommended.

  • This place is very convenient for activities near Captain Cook with a great view looking down at Kealakekua Bay. Its a very livable space and we greatly enjoyed our stay. The host had clear communication, was helpful while giving us lots of privacy.

This quaint & private cottage is located in Kaloko, Kailua Kona, HI and is located less than 15 minutes from the the Kona International Airport.
This is a small studio cottage with private bathroom and queen size bed set on a beautiful 3-acre property surrounded by native Hawaiian forest, alive with birdsong and sounds of nature. There is a small refrigerator (not a full kitchen). Please note that no more than 2 persons would fit comfortably in this space. It is great for a couple (someone you are used to sharing a space with). Most guests say it really works well for them if they’re just looking for a place to sleep, shower, have easy style meals (sandwiches, yogurts, fruits etc) & are planning to be out & about exploring most of the day. I start you off with some fresh ground coffee, creamers & sugar. Pitcher of filtered water in the mini fridge.
Kaloko is set in a beautiful protected forest.
  • We ended up spending only a few hours at this lovely cottage due to some travel mix ups. However, this cottage is so lovely that I want to go back! The hosts are very responsive and kind. The space is very clean and relaxing. I would highly recommend this cottage to any traveler looking for a cozy space in an amazing setting.

    Elise2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We choose this location because we were coming in late and it is close to the airport. But while it is only 15 minutes away it is in another world. Just out of the valley and up into the beautifully forested hills. I love Airbnb because people are willing to share their amazing places with others. This cute cottage is beautiful decorated with many thoughtful touches. There was a bowl with some fruit waiting for us. Which we really appreciated after a long day of flying and munching on snack food all day. I don’t know why people would stay in a hotel when they can stay in a amazing place like this for less than the cost of a hotel room. The bed was very comfortable and we got a great nights sleep. We would definitely stay here again and probably for a longer period of time. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful place with us.

    Diana2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway in a quiet neighborhood. Loved the rain forest all around it. Close enough to Kona. Bed was so comfortable!

    Lisa2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage with a queen bed and bathroom. It's up on the mountain side of the island so it's a lot cooler of a place to stay than if you were costal. Great communication with the hosts.

    Zach2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This location is perfect. Not too far from the action, but still far enough from the noise. Mele and Paulo are chill and easy going. The space is small and enough for two people. Has just about all you need. You'll hear hawaii nature at night and in the AM. Check it out!

    Nick2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great little space in the forest above Kailua-Kona. Beautiful yard, cute outdoor dining table. Love the forest - it’s a lovely place to enjoy it.

  • We had a really great stay at Mele & Paulo's BnB. The space is very clean and nicely decorated. The location is great too. Close enough to the airport and at a very comfortable altitude lending to a great night's sleep. We wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

  • This airbnb is hands down the most amazing, stylish, clean, private and comfortable airbnb I’ve been to. James provided the best hospitality, from picking fresh fruits for us, to responding quickly, and even giving us tips on things about the island. I recommend everyone to stay at this airbnb, hope to be back again in the future! Mahalo and aloha.

  • Sarah and James' place was really cozy and nice. I had really great time in Hawaii because of the atmosphere, beach, fresh air, food and THIS PLACE. Their house was incredible, 'cause you can see beautiful beach and sunset when you're having dinner. And bathroom and bedroom were perfect. Also, Sarah and James sent us welcoming wine and they answered our tricky questions just in a second. :D Thank you for your hosting! See you!

You will spend the whole trip outside, or inside with your windows open. Walking distance from everything in Kailua Kona - including beaches, restaurants, shopping. Marc is a awesome, hospitable, and super nice. He has tons of local knowledge and made great recommendations.

    Jordan2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Marc’s place has great values for it’s price. The room is clean and comfortable with all necessities equipped. What satisfies me most is its private bathroom. It’s super convenient you don’t share bathroom with others. Moreover, you can walk to the supermarket and restaurant. Anyway, I recommend Marc’s place if you’re looking for the budget accommodation in Kona.

We fell in love with Hawaii because of the Aloha spirit. We want others to enjoy the spirit of Aloha, too. Many of our guests have toured the island and returned to us before leaving Kona. All have raved about our comfortable, clean, affordable ohana, our home and hospitality. They say this was their favorite place to stay in Hawaii, and a better value than other places they stayed. They vow to return and to send friends. Discover your own secret treasures. Live aloha. $10/night fee for guests beyond 2 persons. Please read our House Rules, particularly if you are squeamish about tropical bugs or noises, or are expecting a $300 - $500 resort style in unique local accommodation.
Lovely neighborhood, 2.3 miles up Hualalai from the Kona airport (KOA). Our neighborhood semi-remote, but close to everything. We are 7 min. from the airport, but we hear no noise, as it is not legal to fly over land on the Big Island (except to land and take off). No street lights to obscure your view of the stars. We are 10 min. from Costco, 12-15 min. from town and shopping, 20-45 min. from fantastic beaches. Our area is perfect for day trips in all directions! Then you come home to a peaceful setting at a comfortable elevation. The neighborhood has roosters, dogs, wild turkeys, and birds that sing loudly in the morning. If you are sensitive to noise, you might want to use the soft earplugs that we provide. (Sorry, no refunds for "noise".) We live in the tropics. There are cute geckos that may eat yogurt and papaya from your softly outstretched finger. Since it's the tropics we also bugs, ants, spiders, centipedes, etc. We have Terminex spray regularly around the perimeter and under the sinks, so pests rarely enter your space. • Such a lovely place to stay! I highly recommend. Beautiful space, great location close to the airport and beaches, gracious hosts and EVERYTHING you could possibly need.

  • The host will send you a lot of travel information by email before coming to the hostel :) We were rest and we didn't see it because it was a lot. The location is higher than I expected, and my ears were blocked several times, but I got used to it. It took quite a while to get into the house because I didn't understand whether the house was on the first floor or the second floor. At first, the host came and taught me where to find the houseware or anything in detail. There are all kinds of sauces and appliances. I didn't have rubber gloves, so I bought them and used them. I don't have tongs. What was nice is that you can use a washing machine and a dryer. It was nice to be able to use it immediately after going to the water. Only 10 minutes to the city center. It was good to be able to relax while staying ~ Thank you so much for giving us great place!

  • This place is AMAZING! You don’t need to bring anything but your clothes. Caryl has everything for you. I felt like I was visiting a family member’s house. It was like I was right at home. The place looks exactly like the pictures. All the things listed on Airbnb is what’s included. It’s a nice quiet neighborhood.

    Annika2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Caryl leaves no stone unturned when it comes to thoughtfulness of equipping her space for travelers that prefer to feel as at home as possible. From preparing your own meals, beach day chairs, towels, snorkels, fins, boards, coolers, right down to your toiletry items, Caryl has you covered. Caryl is incredibly welcoming and informative, she provides an abundance of tips and suggestions for places to eat, shop and sightsee. Our room had everything we needed, even a wonderfully cozy bed with crisp white sheets. This rental is perfect for those looking to explore the off the beaten path beaches that the Kona side has to offer. A nice neighborhood, with a great view of sunset. Would recommend as a good home base for exploring up and down the Kona coast. The only notable item that was minimally less than ideal, was that you should expect to be awoken by roosters singing their song every morning, as there appear to be a few throughout the neighborhood. Caryl does provide earplugs if needed, and if you close the main slider, it really does not cause a disturbance at all. No earplugs were needed by myself or my partner during our stay

    Michelle2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Caryl on our trip to Kona! She had so many amenities and nice touches to her place that made the place really special. We would recommend staying with Caryl to anyone!

  • This place is great. The pictures don’t do the justice. We’ve stayed at a lower level of the house, with one large room with a bed in it, TV, table and two full wall windows/doors. Had our own bathroom with a shower and a kitchen with all appliances. The only thing that’s missing is a stove, but there is a counter grill/stove and lots of pans and girdles. This place has it all. The garden is beautiful and we’ve enjoyed the morning time outside. Caryl was so wonderful and attentive, and provided a very thorough list of places to see and things to do. She also provided us with the beach gear (towels, chairs, umbrella, body boards and such) and even snacks and water. We loved it and hope to come back.

    Fiya2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Caryl is a wonderful host. Her place is perfectly clean, comfy and cosy. She gave us so many tips and advices that we would have need more time to see everything !!! Perfect host and perfect place. Highly recommended !!!!

  • Located in the midst of a jungle, LeeAnne’s place is a special one. Comfortably equipped and furnished, our stay in this peaceful environment was a great one. She was a great host who checked on us and made sure we were taken care of. As indicated in her listing, at night, there is the slight issue of noise from the surrounding wildlife, but nothing that is insurmountable through the closing of windows and barely the need for earplugs.

    Oliver2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely great stay, the location is beyond beautiful and the accommodation had everything we needed. LeeAnne responded very fast to any questions we had. We recommend this listing to anyone wanting a great spot near the best beaches of the Big Island!

  • I loved staying here! It’s clean, well supplied, and a great location. I could easily get to the harbor for my early morning boat trips and the health food store where I picked up lunch daily. LeeAnne stopped by to say hello. She made me feel extremely welcomed. I would stay here again!

    Emily2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice apartment style stay that is private and clean. It’s a great location and close to town (Kailua-Kona) and the coffee farms. It is on a beautiful property. LeeAnne was extremely kind and accommodating. We had a great stay.

  • This was a perfect spot for us to come back to after the day’s adventures. LeeAnne’s place is quiet and comfortable, and had everything we needed for a great stay. Wish it could have been longer. Mahalo, LeeAnne!

  • We stayed at this beautiful spot for 11 nights while we explored the island and were in awe every time we pulled in to park! LeeAnne was very friendly, accommodating and easy to communicate with. The place had all the amenities we needed to assist in preparation for our daily adventures and provided a welcomed respite when we arrived back after a long day of exploring. The location of the rental felt very private and was exactly as described. If you read LeeAnne’s through description, there will be zero surprises- we loved it there more than we anticipated. In summation, it’s a perfect little spot, nestled away on the “hillside”, to enjoy a slice of tropical paradise. Fully recommend!

Nature Lovers! Wake up eye-level with the canopy in a lofted bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and bohemian furnishings. Nestled among mango trees and rich with daylight, this tropical hideaway offers an unmatched open-air environment with eclectic adornment. Take a 30-foot stroll down a secluded path to your open-air bath house surrounded by plumerias and lush foliage. Enjoy an immersive experience with nature (birds, bees, insects, geckos and whatever nature has in mind). Glamping +++ in the Heart of Kealakekua Bay, featuring the best snorkeling on the Island and wild dolphins.
This eco-hale was built to express the simple beauty of outdoor-inspired living in Hawaii. The climate is comfortable year-round, as we are at 400 ft above sea level. Built in an open-air style with native Ohia posts, you will feel the expansiveness of being in nature, combined with the comforts of home. The open-air spaces have ceiling fans and the 2 bedrooms are totally screened in and give one a "tree house" feel. The hale is decorated in a Bohemian, Balinese influenced style... with natural materials. The hale has a bath house that is 30 feet away on a private footpath featuring an outside shower surrounded by a grove of plumerias, ginger, bananas, ti and other tropical foliage. The Master Bedroom is on the second floor and feels like you're living in the "Golden Glow" Mango trees. It has a King Bed, a Balinese writer's desk, dresser and plenty of room to stretch or do a yoga practiced. One "wall" is floor-to-ceiling screened in window which gives guests an expansive feeling, united with the beauty of Nature. The room is decorated in a modern, bohemian style ~ tasteful, relaxed and comfortable. All bedding is 100% cotton and crisp white. The entire master suite is screened in. The downstairs bedroom is completely screened in and has a queen bed and garden view. It feels more like a tucked away, nest. It is cozy and decorated in a modern, tropical~balinese style with 100% cotton, crisp white linens. The kitchen is well-equipped and has everything you need for basic meal preparation. The entire living area is an open-air concept with an open-floor plan. The kitchen has a 2-person bar area and there's a casual dining table for 4. The living area has a couch day-bed, a comfortable reading chair and an awesome hammock. There are award-winning Haiku ceiling fans in the open-air areas, which are more to help with mosquitos. The decor is a Bohemian, Balinese style in neutral colors. None of the living spaces are screened in. The bathroom is an out-house, located 30 feet away down a secluded foot path. It has no electricity. It has a standard toilet, sink and wonderful outdoor shower with hot water and strong water pressure. Check-out the pictures. It is private to your rental, however once in awhile (~1x/week) from 10am - 3pm, an onsite massage client will use the bathroom as the bath house is adjacent to my massage hale. The massage hale which is down the same path as the bath house is available for massages (from The Tao Within Massage) or you may use it in the mornings and evenings for yoga, trading massages, meditation or relaxation. It has an AMAZING audio engine sound system, and really magical lighting. It is available for your use before 9am and after 4pm. Depending on the day and time of year, the farm can have bugs, mosquitos, geckos, spiders, ants, etc. There are also wild chickens roaming the farm and sometimes they even come and lay an egg in the kitchen (the irony!!). Are you ok with that? We just want to ensure that you're happy ~ this is a tropical, mostly outdoor experience. If you want an indoor experience, this is not for you :-) We are 100% committed to ensuring that our rental is clean and that we have no infestations. We have a pest company that sprays the perimeter of the building on a routine maintenance schedule. But, we cannot control mama nature.
We are 1 mile from spectacular Kealakekua Bay, home to spinner dolphins, incredible turquoise waters and world-class snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking. Nature based living! Think possible mosquitoes, geckos, wild chickens/roosters, coqui frogs, birds, bees, insects, mongoose.. We are viligant about routine pest management, but to enjoy this experience, you need to be at one with nature. We are a HOSTED rental, which is leagally required for agriculurally zoned rentals like ours.
  • Amazing spot. Highly recommend the mango farm. We’ll be back!

  • This Airbnb is truly one of a kind and one that is 100% worth checking out. My friends and I only had time to stay for one night, but had so much fun and felt so free the whole time.

    William2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, this would be my dream house if I could choose! You feel completely connected to nature as the kitchen and living area is outside but protected from rain. The upstairs bedroom has a view to the stars at night and I could feel the breeze at times come through the screen. It was incredibly peaceful and Heather could not have been more accommodating. I hope to be back sooner than later.

    Lauren2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Mango Farm was a fantastic escape and opportunity to relax and enjoy living amongst nature. The space was comfortable and just what we were looking for in an adventure in Hawaii. We'll definitely come back again when we visit the big island.

    Paul2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little slice of heaven! A wonderful place to stay to relax and commune with nature and Hawaii. Close to amazing snorkeling (Two-Step and Captain Cook) and other places to explore. The hosts Lucia and Jesse were sweet and gracious, and gave my husband and children an informative tour of the Mango Farm. We would love to stay with them upon our return. One thing to note: the entire structure is open to the elements, albeit screened in. The Coqui frogs are loud at night, and if you are not used to sleeping with the windows open, the sound can make sleep challenging at first. I used ear plugs and a lite white noise machine under my pillow and eventually fell asleep. My husband and children did not use ear plugs and were fine. But just know this and plan accordingly.

    Sara2020-02-20T00:00:00Z

I can get scared but the salamanders toads and roaming hens had me laughing and in the best mood. • Magical. The host helped us find a place for take out for dinner which was fantastic. When we got back to the Mango Farm it was getting dark and pouring rain. We were trapped in a blissful covered outdoor space with comfy sofa and blankets listening to the rain and then frogs. Extra touches like fresh fruit on the table were nice and you could pick apple bananas from the living room area! Glamping to the max!

  • I very much enjoyed this walk because it gave me a nice introduction and information about Athens on my first day in the city

  • Gorgeous little cabin nestled on a hillside. Close to anything you could want. Hosts were amazing. My wife and I spent our honeymoon together here and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a small quite place to enjoy paradise. 10 out of 10

  • Superb visit with Clément. I highly recommend it at the beginning of your stay or if you are only for a weekend in Athens. We have adored ! Clement has a lot of knowledge and has taught us a lot. Moreover it is a nice and kind person. Thank you :)

  • Clement is very dedicated to this activity, is has a good knowledge about greek history and culture, good sense of humour, and overall we had a very good walking and seeing experience grace to him. He even gives us some valuable tips by email on what we can do in Athens, taking from his personal time. We really appreciate his tour and recommend it. Thank you, Clement!

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay here immensely! The cottage, surrounding grounds, and views of the bay were simply breathtaking. Peter was an amazing and gracious host—thank you again for the delicious homegrown bananas, lemons, limes, and mango! We recommend this cottage without reservation and would definitely stay here again.

    Christina2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is a real gem. The view, location, and simple charm are the best things about this cottage. Just a short drive away you can be at some idyllic beaches and attractions. Or stay in and enjoy the breezes and seemingly endless view of the west side of the island. Peter is a great host and will share fresh fruits right from his orchard. You won’t be disappointed staying here.

We wish to welcome you to come and stay in our 5 bedrooms large house at the end of a cul-de-sac in a friendly yet quiet neighborhood at a local village uphill. Our home has a vast ocean view and sunset, and a quiet walkway into the woods from our backyard and patio. The high altitude location helps the sea breeze to develop all day and night; yet, less than 10 minutes drives and you will be in Downtown Kona, or the renown Magic Sands Beach, or Kahaluu Beach Park for snorkeling amatuers.
We have two available private rooms with a queen bed each: - Room A: Newly renovated private shower and restroom, accommodate up to 2 guests. - Room B was also newly renovated with a private bathroom which accommodate 2 guests. Please aware that the bathroom is not attached to the bedroom.
We are in a working class neighborhood, where people know the value of hard work. The neighbors leave other people’s things alone. I left expensive tools outside for over a year and nothing happens
  • Very friendly hosts, taking care of their home. Also we liked getting so many local tips from John. A good stay!

    Lars2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very brief stay after arriving late and departing early, but John was communicative, the space was clean and the view was great!

    Pat2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Anne were super friendly hosts. Their place is in a great location not too far a drive from downtown Kona. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to check out the area!

    Kevin2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great location and nice terrace to see the sunset. It has a small fridge, small oven and all the cutlery and plates that you need. John and Ann are very nice hosts.

    Carlos2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This home was beautiful and very comfortable.. the backyard was cozy and the family was very sweet and accommodating.. great for the price too

    Sharri2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • John and his wife Ann are great people. We stayed in one of the bedrooms in the main house with the bathroom down the hallway. We felt like family and enjoyed our stay.

    Sue2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • John’s guest room was exactly what our traveling family needed. The room and on suite bathroom was clean and accommodated all of our needs. His home is located close to downtown kona and only a short ride to the airport. The unobstructed view of the sunset was also a plus. If you are looking for an attentive host family, you’ll enjoy your stay at John’s place.

    Kim2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • John and Anne were very friendly and offered to help me when I had questions about the area. The room is in a separate wing of the house so while there is activity in the rest of the house, it felt nice and private in the room. Everything was very clean, too.

  • Peter and Kathy are down to earth people. Very gracious in making their home your home. Knowledgeable about the area, culture and people. It's more than just a stay, it's a great experience.

  • We only stayed a few hours really as our flight was very late. They were very quick with responses and “no worries” when I messaged them from the airport. Cute place and functional, I wouldn’t hesitate to return here. Quick visit with Peter, very friendly and helpful.

  • Great host, friendly and informative. Comfortable accommodations. Very convenient to the airport. There are coqui frogs in the area there, very loud at night, earplugs worked for me. Can see the ocean in the distance from the back lanai. Enjoyed bird watching in the morning while having tea.

    Judy2020-01-07T00:00:00Z

  • This airbnb is absolutely the best airbnb in the Big Island, The over view of the whole Kona and beach from this house will over your imagination. The host has given me many useful informations which helped me spend a better vacation on Big Island.

    Zheng2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the fantastic view and the "outdoor living" at Steve's place! So much that it made it hard to leave there to do our planned vacation activities. The unit was very clean, comfortable and had plenty of storage. Communication with Steve was quick and easy. Highly recommend this Airbnb!

    Betty2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this home is amazing! It is off the main road, and it is so quiet and peaceful up here. The hosts have some stuff available to use (snorkel, beach chairs, etc), which we were very thankful for. Unit is super clean, and I loved the giant shower. The view is the best- it was wonderful to wake up to it in the mornings. I loved it!

    Lisa2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Steve was a wonderful host and we enjoyed our stay very much. Very peaceful setting and gorgeous views.

    Sarah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for 5 nights and definitely stay here again!

    Julie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot rave enough about this place. It’s amazing and the views are unbelievable. You’re gonna want to stop to the grocery store on your way up, because once you’re here you won’t want to leave. Sleeping with a fan and the screen door open was just unbelievable. Perfect temperature. And breathtaking views.

    Chelsea2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Positively beautiful. A really unique find. Watching the sunset by the pool felt like it added years to my life.

    Corey2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fun place to stay. Typically Hawaiian with an outdoor kitchen and total access to the outside. The shower was huge and there were two sinks and plenty of room. There was a walk-in closet with ample shelves and hanger space. The panoramic view was spectacular up about 1500 ft elevation. You can see the old airport on the right to the Sheraton hotel on the left and the entire Pacific Ocean looking west. The infinity pool is a nice touch. Sunset and dinner on the Lanai were something to look forward to each day. The only criticism we would have was a lack of hot water in the kitchen area to wash dishes. Everything else was great.

    Robben2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Plumeria cottage is in a great location! About 5 minutes from downtown Kona and close everything (Beach, Safeway, downtown, Walmart) . Teddy and David left a guide book with extremely useful tips which was super helpful, it covered pretty much any questions you might have. The cottage was spotless , and overall beautiful!

    Tanya2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here in February 2020, to sum it up in one word is: incredible. I was surprised at all the little touches which tied everything together. It's located between the highway and Ali'i Drive. The neighborhood feel makes it quiet and it's maybe a 10 minute ride share down to all the action on Ali'i Drive. Plumeria Cottage has so many amenities! Enjoy your stay! It's so worth every penny and moment!

    James2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Teddy and David were very gracious hosts. Super helpful and available for any questions we had about the space, or about the area in general! Next time I am back on Big Island I would stay here again.

    Simone2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Teddy and David have a great place. The unit is quiet, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. We really liked that they had a beach bag and beach towels for us. We will certainly come back when we visit the Big Island again!

    Larry2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • There are safeway and Walmart near the house. And lots of tourist attractions. Very comfotable and clean house.

The ranch is located in the center of the top three snorkel spots on Big Island, less than a 20-minute drive to each destination. You get to witness both snowy volcanoes and the Pacific Ocean from the dome in winter.
  • Thank you. Loved being on the ranch

    Wyncia And Larry2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The dome was great! We had some issues with charging our devices, but we were fine with just charging our phones in the car. It was cold when we stayed, but there were plenty of blankets available and we knew we could ask for a heater if we wanted. The kitchen is equipped with lots of stuff - very doable to make meals! The family that lives on the property was SO nice and the kids and animal were so cute to see each morning.

    Bri2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was a fun experience. A ways out of town and a little hard to find but once you figure it out it’s a piece of cake. Stayed in Dome 2. The weather didn’t cooperate but we did wake up in the middle of the night to star gaze and it was out of this world cool. We live it Utah and have great star gazing but nothing compared to this. Never been off the grid before and that was interesting. Couldn’t use a blow dryer in the dome and my straightener didn’t get very hot. You can use those items in the main house though. Could have used some beach chairs for our adventures. Thanks Rose for always being prompt in answering my questions.

    Kimberly2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The dome is amazing, even better in person than the listing. We had no problems with electricity or hot water, no bugs. Beautifully decorated and well located to everything we wanted to do. We will return for sure!

    Scott2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place to getaway. Unfortunately is rained the night we stayed over so we couldn’t star gaze. Very secluded and unique experience.

    Crystal2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful!! Rose is a great host and sends very timely and thorough communication. Make sure you read through her arrival instructions in detail, especially if you’re arriving at night. The place was very comfortable and had a lot of thoughtful touches. I was traveling in February, so it was very cold at the top of the mountain. Be sure to pack warm pajamas!! The stars are unreal!!! My first night it was storming, but once the storm was over and the clouds cleared, you could see a ton of stars and then I saw so many more the next night.

    Kati2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place, very unique experience!!

    Isabelle2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience ! We had a crystal clear night star gazing and could see every constellation . The small touches made it feel like home and the dome was extremely clean. The property itself is so amazing and the ride up was half the fun ! We will be back!

A bright and modern room in a stunning, open air house that is just 10 minutes to the nearest beach and to town. Enjoy a beautiful pool, ocean views from the lanai, and laid back Hawaii living.
