Great stay for a small family, two bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Kitchen for cooking is very convenient. Plenty of parking and the apt is near all the amenities you need for a weekend away. Check in was easy. Overall, nice stay at Jaider’s apartment over a quick weekend.

Lauren's home is immaculately clean. The room is spacious and has everything I needed. A large comfy bed; desk; chair; fridge; microwave. The bathroom was clean and convenient to the bedroom. Lauren was training a guide dog as mentioned in the description and the dog was also very friendly and well behaved. The location is handy and Lauren provided walking directions to pharmacy, restaurants, and market. Fair warning: Cusano's does not take credit cards.....not Lauren's fault!

This is a great space in the greater New Haven area. The pillow top mattress, heated blanket and down comforter was better than any hotel I've ever stayed in. Beautiful neighborhood with amenities within walking 2-3 blocks (Highly recommend local restaurant: bread & chocolate, which was suggested by Lauren). Very clean bathroom, great wifi and an abundance of tea with honey from Lauren's hives!!

Lauren was so quick in communicating and accomodating me. Unfortunately, I had to leave early but for the time I was there it was a very nice stay!

I had a great stay with Lauren the night before a residency interview at Yale NewHaven Health (about a 20 minute drive from her home.) She greeted me at the door when I arrived in the evening time, and we shared some great conversation. The room itself was very spacious, and I slept comfortably. The bathroom was sparkling clean. I also appreciated the tea in the morning. The neighborhood seemed very safe and there were plenty of spots for street parking. I would undoubtedly stay with Lauren again next time I’m in the area!

This was our 2nd stay at Lauren’s and it was perfect. Super close to Quinnipiac and convenient to New Haven. Highly recommend and we hope to stay again.

Quiet and safe neighborhood convenient to the Merrit Parkway, 95 and 91. The room was lovely. The bed was so comfortable I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow. The room was so quiet it took a few minutes to get used to it! I looked forward to a cup of tea with Lauren’s honey and it didn’t disappoint. A short walk or drive to the best bagels and donuts!

Janet, Donna, and Nicole are the absolute best. Do not hesitate to book any one of their rooms. There is a very negative review of their Blue Jay room. DO NOT BELIEVE IT! I was there when the young women stayed there. They were loud, vulgar, and spoke of drug use. I had to clean the bathroom(that had always been immaculate) after they used it. They were wildly immature and left the room filthy. I saw it. The ladies work very hard to keep all rooms up to hotel quality and deserved way better treatment than they received.

When I was in the house with Janet, Donna, and Nicole they were like Minions. Always willing to help or ask if I needed anything. I brought a bag of dirty laundry from a previous stay. As I walked up the stairs the bag ripped and everything went tumbling down. Before I turned around they were already picking it up. I had to tell at them to stop. It was just too gross to allow them to be handling my dirty laundry. When they were not in the house they were like Ninjas. I never heard them or saw them, but I knew they had been there because every morning when I woke up it was like the movie Ground Hog Day. Everything was reset to exactly the same way it had been the day before. Everything upstairs and downstairs spotlessly clean, fresh linens and towels in the same places as the day before. If you need a place to stay for a day, week, month, or even a year, don't hesitate. You will not regret it.

The apartment was neat and had plenty of kitchen supplies. They also had conditioner for the shower, which is great because I don't travel with mine. I was working at Lockwood Farm during my stay, and it was perfectly located for me. The apartment was also close to tons of food options and to Sleeping Giant State Park. I would book again.

If you want privacy in a lovely setting (along with your pet) this is the place for you! Loved the view, the quiet, the complete privacy and easy parking for both our cars. Soaking in the claw-footed tub was a bonus! (SO CLOSE TO EVERYTHING!!!!)

Chawwadee's house is a great place to stay, just like in the pictures. I would recommend to everyone! Chawwadee is a great host, he replies very fast to the messages and is very helful and kind in his responses. Loved the spacious kitchen and the view right outside of it. The neighbourhood was also very nice. The house would get a bit chilly however a portable heater was available in the bedroom which kept the place nice and warm; also the bed was a bit creaky but comfortable enough for a good sleep. Overall I was pleased with the place and the host and the fact that all the resources were organized, labeled and available. Very recommended.

Stayed here for 1 week and really really enjoyed staying at Chawwadee’s place. Was very impressed with the view and the tranquil quiet and peace that the place had. Felt that this was a tremendous value and fantastic vacation spot.

Wendy and her family are so kind. It’s hard to find a space with a private bathroom in this area so that was a nice perk. Yes you can hear everyone walking upstairs and the pipes as other guests have stated, but it didn’t bother me. The room is also very dark, so perfect for a night shift travel nurse like me. :)

The family are all so very nice. The room was clean and private, and Wendy responds super fast. About a 5 minute drive to downtown Hamden. It is an old house with lots of creaks and bumps if you’re a light sleeper.

I stayed at Julia's for five weeks and it was a home away from home. Julia is an exemplary host, who really meant it when she said, "Make yourself at home." I strongly recommend her place to anyone looking for somewhere for an extended stay in New Haven. Her house is within easy reach of Downtown, even if you don't have a car: buses run fairly regularly from outside her house or a ten-minute walk away at the top of the street. Her kitchen is really well-equipped, and completely at your disposal, so catering for yourself is totally feasible (key tip: the nearest supermarkets are just a single bus ride away, either Elm City Market in Downtown or the Stop & Shop off Whalley Avenue (for the more budget option)). I really appreciated how Julia encouraged me to make full use of the place: whether cooking in the kitchen, working at the dining room table, reading or watching tv in the living room, or using the downstairs bathroom. The room I stayed in is at the back of the house, overlooking the yard, and is nice and quiet; virtually no traffic noise and perfectly private.

Julia and Peter are the best hosts one can ask for! They were extremely generous and friendly and staying at their beautiful house was simply great. You will find everything you need, the room is nice, the bed very comfortable, the kitchen kitchen equipped with all you might need and if you fancy a walk by the sea, that is just minutes away.

What a beautiful home! The house may be older, but the interior is very well designed and decorated. The downstairs bathroom is so fun. The host is very responsive and friendly. I would definitely stay here again. The two cats are extremely well-behaved.

I loved my stay at Julia’s house so much and I was very warm welcomed. Everything was perfect prepared, communication was pretty friendly / uncomplicated and I got very detailed check-in instructions. Julia's home is lovely! My friend and I stayed for a night to attend a wedding in nearby Branford. In a rush to get ready for the wedding, we so appreciated how helpful Peter was in getting us the iron and hair dryer we needed! We felt very welcomed and had everything we needed.

Good location 10 mins from new haven. Big bedroom w/ blackout curtains. Problems w/ electricity in bedroom, but going to be resolved.

For anyone looking for a cute little place to stay that is clean and has a host with quick responses and a nice area to be in I highly suggest this place would be for you! I loved it I’m sure anybody else would also.

This by far is the best experience I have had. The Bassett house feels like home away from home. It is comfortable, and perfect for bonding with family. The images are just as you see on AirBnB. Michael, the host is absolutely incredible and welcoming. He’s very easily reachable and responds to your needs and makes sure you are comfortable during your stay. My weekend was made at the Bassett house. I plan on returning. Five stars isn’t nearly enough to rate this property.

Michael's house is incredible for a group stay. He left us lots of wonderful touches like pastries when we arrived. The house is wonderfully clean and appointed, with many different spaces for a group to hang out all at once or in smaller groups. We barely even left the house for the weekend we stayed there. Would definitely stay at the Bassett House or another of Michael's properties again!

This is the most amazing house/home with incredible, special touches at every turn. There is so much love and care in this place, not one of us wanted to leave. It's sparkling clean, cozy beyond cozy couches and blankets, the beds were the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, and the overall feel of the place was perfection. Don't look any further. Can't wait to come back.

We just had my mom’s 70th birthday party at this stunning house. We HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone who is looking to host any kind of party or just spend a weekend or night away from it all in the lap of luxury. We had 24 people, and the house is so expansive and open that it fit them comfortably. People could sit at the island and mingle while we put out hors d’oveures, relax in one of two giant, open living spaces, or on the heated all season porch complete with mood lighting. The place was elegant and stocked with everything you need to cook a huge, elaborate meal. The six burner gas stove was spacious and allowed us to make food for many with ease. Double ovens too! It was a DREAM kitchen in a dream house and our guests were in awe. Michael was a wonderful host. We got the chance to meet him briefly and he was polishing the silver one by one on a gorgeous table set for 24 by him! Every detail was taken care of and the fridge and counters were stocked with extras for snacking or breakfast. So many touches. I cannot say enough. Thank you Michael and the Bassett House for making our night so memorable and enjoyable!!!

Beautiful place to stay for a large group of people. The host goes out of his way to answer questions and makes sure you have everything you need. Recommend 100%.

My wife and I hosted Thanksgiving at Michael's luxurious historical home for our extended family. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a special place. Upon entry to the expansive kitchen, we were greeted by delicious pastries, cookies, and a refrigerator well stocked for breakfast throughout our stay. The home is immaculate and beautifully renovated and furnished. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner for 12 and at one point had 7 cooks in the kitchen with plenty of space. Michael had the table fully set for our family holiday feast. The evening was so successful, we canceled our restaurant reservations and cooked in three nights in a row for our family of 12. The house easily slept the seven of us from out of town and was convenient to our local family members as well as to amazing food and wine stores. We all had such a positive and relaxing experience with both Michael and the house, we've booked it again for next year!

The place is easy to locate. The room is comfortable. There is a private bathroom attached to the room, and a mini-fridge in the room. Amy was quick to respond to texts and was friendly.

Amy’s place was great! My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights. Check in was easy. We arrived at around 9 PM, and Amy and her dog, Colt greeted us when we got in and showed us to our room. He’s super friendly and really cute! The home itself was lovely and very clean. The bedroom is right next to the kitchen, and the private bathroom is also attached to the room making it very convenient. It comes equipped with a mini fridge, iron, towels, and toiletries. Their place is also only 20 min away from New Haven which was really convenient for our stay. I definitely recommend booking with Amy if you’re visiting the area!

Great place to crash for a night or two. Simple, to the point, exactly what I needed for my 1 night stay. To get to Yale, there are multiple buses that you can take. Bus stop is 5 min away (walking). They provide clothing iron, coffee, and a common area to relax.

The best

Rose's place is more like a hostel than a hotel or a typical room in someone's house. And, it is valued as such. You're staying on the second floor with 2 other guests in their own rooms. You can hear when people walk by in the hallways. But the entire house is generally very quiet and the other guests keep to themselves. The austere room itself is clean. The bathroom and "kitchenette" is clean enough for a shared living space. There is K-cup coffee to get your day started. Some paper plates and plastic utensils so you can eat in if you prefer. Street parking was plentiful and safe. We did not walk to Yale or downtown, but the immediate neighborhood felt friendly. Overall, the booking was exactly what I wanted: a room to stay/sleep for cheap. This is not a "bargain" place. You get what you pay for. And for us, it was perfect. Thank you, Rose, for providing this alternative to the more expensive listings in town.

Room is close to Yale, check-in was easy via lock box. For the price it was what I expected—cheapest room available on airbnb. Towel and sheets were clean😀. There is no a/c, but there’s a small fan. Bed is on a stand that may be precarious for an overweight person, but fine otherwise. The knob for hot water is missing in the shower, but you can still twist it with your hand. Overall, you get what you pay for. I think the price is fair considering its location. Good for a short no-frills stay.

Blanca and her husband Geoff are literally the best hosts I can think of. They are genuinely good people and my stay there was extremely comfortable, clean and peaceful. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

Blanca and Geoff are such warm and welcoming hosts, and the private airbnb space -- bedroom, bathroom, entrance and use of a lovely den -- is full of thoughtful details that make a perfect stay. They provide a full continental breakfast and use of a lovely kitchen and you really feel their sincere goodwill in opening their home to you! Will recommend to all our friends and family who visit. Lovely couple with a warm place to relax.

Blanca and her husband are very amazing people who truly love what they do. They are very connected to the community and do a lot of great deeds. I felt safe and enjoyed my stay there, I wish they had more booking time :).

Blanca and Geoff made me feel at home. I've only ever rented Airbnb's where I could rent the entire space. I chose them for a few reasons: the location and price were wonderful and they had good reviews. Additionally, although I'm sure Airbnb vet's their hosts, that they are a married couple and run a church made me feel extra safe as a solo female. Blanca and Geoff have thoughtful touches for guests, including items one might forget to pack, extra pillows and blankets, etc. The bathroom is private and reserved for the Airbnb guest who has his or her own entrance and key so although it is a room in a home, it feels much more private than one might anticipate. Their house is a few miles from downtown New Haven which is hopping with restaurants and activity around Yale's campus. Should I need to stay in New Haven in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again.

I really enjoyed staying at Blanca and Geoff's home. They were incredibly welcoming, grabbed my bags, got me settled in and made tea upon my arrival. Also, I arrived at the start of a snow storm, because I wasn't able to go out, they offered dinner. I also had breakfast waiting for me in the morning when I got up. And they cleared off the snow on my vehicle and cleared off the sidewalks right before I left. I am incredibly grateful and SO impressed with just about everything. They made me feel like I was at home. The room was immaculate. Very clean and so was the bathroom. They had a fridge fully stocked with water in the bedroom and snacks at the bedside. It was a wonderful experience and I would HIGHLY recommend them to any of my family and friends.I will be staying there again. -Dominique

Blanca and Geoff are so very kind, warm, and hospitable! We had a fantastic stay in their home. The continental breakfast was a great plus and very convenient. We were also shown the thermostat where we could adjust the temperature to our room. There is a reading room next to the bedroom which we were welcome to use. Private entrance with a key. Bed was firm and very comfortable. Snacks, water, a fridge and a closet in the bedroom. Everything was great! We hope to stay there again!

Melguin's place was cute and the host was very welcoming. I needed a place to stay while the snow storm passed before my drive back home and she was able to check me in as soon as possible, and responded quickly. The bedroom was comfy and clean. This spot is literally around the corner from Quinnipiac which my daughter attends. Melquin is so gracious and welcoming, could not ask for a better host. I slept better than I have in years! Room is super comfortable and immaculate. Many choices for dining nearby, we had Ixtapa delivered and it was top notch!

The place was exceptionally clean. The bathroom was clean. They were attentive. We changed check in time twice they were accommodating. Quick to answer call and messages. The room smelled amazing, they instantly provided us with wifi as soon as we arrived. There were towels and bottles of shampoo etc. It was also very quite. Great value !

Jeff’s place is an excellent base for visiting Yale. It was as described in the listing. It was very clean and safe, with many thoughtful touches like a refrigerator, microwave, etc. It is located in a safe, quiet residential yet convenient to restaurants, grocery and other stores. We would stay here again in future visits.

The room is as described--cozy and clean, and the neighborhood is quiet. Comfortable bed, strong wifi. Jeff and Leah graciously allowed me to check in a few hours early, which was a huge help. I had a lovely stay and would like to reserve the room again in the future. My only complaint is that Jeff and Leah were traveling so I didn't get to meet them.

The suite is larger than expected. The bathroom is grand and the bed comfy. I had everything I needed for a wknd stay.

Andre's place was perfect for my husband and I to spend the night after a show at the College Street Music Hall. The location could not have been better - just a couple blocks from the Crowne St Garage, the Music Hall, and tons of restaurants and bars (we had a delicious meal and margaritas at Geronimo's). The king size bed was very comfy, and the whole place was very modern and clean. We'll definitely keep it in mind the next time we catch a show in New Haven!

Great place

A super great and very clean apartment right on the water. Very lovingly and modernly furnished. Everything you needed was there. The kitchen in particular was very well equipped and you could prepare great food yourself. The bus stop into town is only a 5-minute walk away. Ricardo is a nice and very friendly host. Communication was very easy. Had the apartment not been rented out again after us, we would have stayed longer.

This place was ADORABLE! Very clean, the apartment is updated and stylish. It’s right on the water, which made for a nice view. It’s very conveniently located with plenty of things around. Ricardo was very friendly and accommodating, and the entire stay was flawless. I would definitely stay here again if I get back to the area!!

Ricardo was an amazing host. His place was clean and spacious, about 10 minutes drive from Yale and Downtown. We stayed at his place about a week. The house was well equipped with kitchen supplies and even had a steam iron and cleaning supplies. It basically had everything we needed. Would highly recommend his place!

What a lovely place! It's a perfect location – quiet and private, yet just 15 minutes or so to downtown New Haven. We were upgraded to the main house due to the cold, and we really enjoyed our stay. We especially loved the fireplace (we were thankful Doug and Liisa provided lots of wood). Doug greeted us when we arrived and showed us around, and he stopped in once while were out as well. We cooked/baked a few times and there were lots of kitchen supplies available for this. I'd recommend bringing some DVDs if you'd like to enjoy movie nights. Finally, be sure to read the listing carefully as it's a bit confusing which parts of the house you're booking (send Doug and Liisa a message if you have questions – they're very responsive). We had a great time and would highly recommend this place.

Wonderful trip!

I had a conference at Yale for the week and didn’t want to stay in a hotel. Liisa and Doug’s place was perfect! I enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the forest. The leaves were in peak foliage. Every morning I walked up and down the hill to the road under a yellow canopy of leaves. The studio was comfy and warm. I spent my off time writing. Lots of delicious places to eat. Could not believe how convenient it was to Yale, and yet it’s an oasis set apart, cannot wait to come back!

I have stayed at many Airbnbs, and this home is without doubt among the top places I’ve ever stayed. Their home is very beautiful, and Doug and Lisa have thought of everything that one could need to make it a comfortable stay. They are very welcoming hosts, and set the standard for AirBnB hospitality. I will definitely be coming back here again!

We had an amazing stay at Doug & Liisa’s - their home truly goes above and beyond a traditional airbnb stay - it’s a stay + experience. Doug met us upon arrival and toured us through the vast property and the large farm house. It’s spacious and private - our dog was in haven. He gave so much information about the area and suggested lots of activities - dining - to do’s. We’re already trying to find a future date to spend more time here. It was simply too short of a visit. We felt so comfortable and relaxed - the natural light coming in every room was very peaceful. And the property is simply stunning to explore and enjoy - sitting outside to read - drink coffee etc this would be a great retreat in any season. Looking forward to our next visit to this amazing location!!

We had a great weekend at Liisa and Doug’s home. Great architecture, cozy backyard with fire pit and grill, and a nice quiet location. They also made our dog Willy feel right at home with treats.

Chose Liisa and Doug's space for a reunion of 4 college friends. We were all very happy with the place. Opting to rent the studio as well as the attached house gave us plenty of room to relax and reconnect. The property is wooded and lovely, with lots of unique features. The house has everything we needed to cook in, reminisce and play games. Close to lots of local attractions as well. Four thumbs up!

Great value and everyone I encountered was very nice. Close to downtown but just far enough away to be quiet (and there’s parking). Have stayed here and will stay again!

The house is located in a quite neighborhood that is very convenient if you are working in New Haven. The hosts were friendly and very responsive to any questions that I had.

Super clean and cozy and stylish place with all the touches. We felt so comfortable in the space. Clear instructions for checking in and out. A special bonus was the absence of irritating chemical air fresheners and scented products. Taryns place has healthy clean air with unscented products. We will be back!

I stayed at Taryn's flat while in town for an interview at Yale and the place was perfect. Taryn was quick to provide information and respond to any questions I had about our stay. The place was super clean and very stylish. The location is very close to Yale and was also quiet. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We didn’t meet Taryn because of our and her schedule, but the communication via AirBnb was great. An earlier check-in was possible, as well as parking the car, which was great, as it allowed us to spend more time exploring New Haven.

This space is gorgeous and very welcoming. You'll want to hang out in this huge space and relax. It's a quick walk to pizza places, so you can easily be in line early. The wine bottle when you arrive is a nice touch. Easy in and out, great communication. I would definitely stay again. Thanks!

The house is an older building but in good repair, space was clean and quiet - perfect for a pre-interview stay! Host responded quickly & communicated in good time before the stay about check-in! Beautiful street close to Yale and neighborhood restaurants, shops. Nice house. Well maintained. Quiet. Outstanding value. Pleasant common room. Coffee station but no kitchen. But that's how it would be at a hotel for 4 or 6 times the price. Get breakfast at dunkin donuts w the money you saved.

This house is easy to access with ample parking in front inside of the building. There's not much to it but it has everything I needed: clean bed, privacy, fast wifi, fridge, microwave, bathroom, easy checkin and parking. I'd recommend to anyone who's looking for an easy, affordable place to stay.
