  • This property suited our large family group perfectly. We had several children with us, plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy being together. Sandra was very welcoming, gave us a comprehensive tour and was available if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this house.

  • We spent a lovely weekend here celebrating my Mother’s 80th birthday. The house was spotlessly clean and there were so many extra touches that were really lovely. Would highly recommend staying at Duncan’s, set in beautiful surroundings and close to some lovely pubs, local amenities and beautiful walks.

  • Brilliant setting for large groups.

  • Just got back from a 2 night stay for a 60th birthday family get together - there were 12 of us, a mix of adults and children and we all had an amazing time!! Lovely bedrooms and a big outdoor space and communal space, with enough room for everyone to sit together! The house is very well equipped with essentials and also bonuses like the sauna, log burner, piano and music speaker and toys were even provided for the children too! The hosts were really friendly and helpful and we all felt very comfortable and at home during our stay! We would definitely come back and we also had a lunch at The Star pub which was great and we would recommend :)

Hi speed Wifi Fibre broadband, Gas central heating, Shared use of;- Kitchen with all appliances and washing/drying facilities, Bathroom with toilet, Second toilet, Pleasant Garden and Patio, Driveway, Lounge area with widescreen sky TV and Hifi My warm, comfortable and clean Detached House is in a lovely neighbourhood. Only a short walk to Bus stop and shops. I strive to maintain a nice home with a friendly atmosphere, where every member is treated with kindness and respect.
House is in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex. Well situated and only a short walk to Bus stop and shops. There is a train line and plenty of people commute to London from here every day. It is a lovely little rural town here, with yachting and plenty of pretty countryside and farming around us. So it is a very pleasant place to live with low crime rates, relaxed pace of life and a greater than average amount of sunshine due to unusual weather patterns in this area. Situated a fair few miles east of the M25 it is a great place for those seeking refuge from the rat-race and the daily grind at the end of their working day/week. I live in a nice quiet cul-de-sac with nice neighbours, so please no party animals or rebel-rousers. Thank you
  • Perfect base to explore surrounding area

This is a lovely little bungalow on the banks of the river Crouch. It is semi rural. It is a 5 minute walk to Althorne station and a 15 minute drive into Burnham on Crouch, which has some some great pubs and restaurants. Fabulous riverside walks. Quiet and tranquil. If you need a relaxing break, this is the place to go. The nearest pub is roughly a 5 minute drive and a 30 minute walk. (Lovely food!) If you have any questions, please feel free to drop us a message.
Little three bedroom bungalow on the banks of the River Crouch. We have a large decking with a seating area to sit and relax
  • Amazing joy!

    Crystal2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location with river views and easy access to riverside walks. Interior was designed well and felt very homely and welcoming. Plenty of space for us 5 adults and would definitely be dog friendly. Plenty of towels, heating was effective. Only negative I can think of is that the access road is a bit pot-holed but even then not too bad (and that was in November).

    Jay2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped. Great views from the back over the river crouch. Sandra was a great hostess- we were informed of everything we needed to know well in advance and was available throughout out stay for anything we needed. Everything was thought of to ensure our comfort. Absolutely no negatives, would happily stay again.

    Kyle2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Entire home, very quiet at night, hot water coming in very fast. Perfectly equipped kitchen.

  • Lovely home.would stay again if I'm in the area.

    Jodie2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow was sparkling clean, comfortable and with lots of extra homely touches that made for a really comfortable and relaxing break. Beautiful views of the river from the lounge as well as the decking. Sandra was a great host and provided great communications. Like other reviewers have said before the bungalow is better in real life than the photos might have you believe - it’s a real gem of a place and great value for money.

    Debbie2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and quiet coupled with stunning views of the river.

    Steve2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra’s place was like a home from home with everything and more in the property. The property was just what we wanted and perfect for our dog and ourselves. We were first time users of Airbnb and could not be happier with our experience at Sandra’s place and would definitely visit again in the future. Thankyou Sandra.

Julia was a great host. I didn’t meet her in person but she was very responsive to any questions I had and checked in via messenger a couple of times to make sure everything was okay. Highly recommend!

  • Where to begin.....Val was very welcoming upon arrival and very friendly, helped us book a takeaway and showed us around the space. Vals place is highly recommended and definitely worth the price if not more! Everything was absolutely done with a perfect touch , vals hospitality is above and beyond this woman is so friendly and helpful! Me and my partner stayed as we are relocating down south and couldn't have found a better place. If you are in the area and looking for a bnb I would recommend to everyone , and if your planning a little trip then do go to vals your not to far from the sea. Many thanks Val for a wonderful week with yourself and thank you for everything x

  • Full 5 star rating for this host. For the price, you expect a highway running on one side of the house and a budy railroad on the other, but no - this place is in a very nice and quiet area of the world. NIce, clean space - very thoughtful host - everything on the ground floor, private entrance - everything you could dream of. Would def. stay here again.

    René2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Val. Excellent hostess and a pleasurable stay.

  • Valerie's home is a dream such good value for money and she is so thoughtful. The bonus is the beach is so close, we bbqd most nights and there is a fantastic Indian restaurant within walking distance. Great for star gazing, we saw some fantastic shooting stars! Valerie left little trays of goodies each morning which was totally unexpected and such a nice touch. Anyone booking here would not be disappointed we can't thank Valerie enough for her hospitality and letting us stay at her lovely home. There is lots to see and do locally and fantastic if you like walking, cycling or running. We will be back. Warmest regards Lisa and Rick

    Lisa2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie’s place is a great place to unwind, quiet, spotlessly clean, lovely lounge area, outside space with table and chairs. 3 mins to the waters edge, lovely walk to the pub, we were attending a wedding and getting ready at Valerie’s place was home from home, great shower, plenty of soft towels. Valerie also recommended a pub for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. Valerie certainly goes the extra mile with a smashing home made cake left in the room for us. We felt like we had left with a new friend.

Would you like to come and stay here in the centre of a quiet picturesque village with direct access to the River Blackwater. Just 5 minutes walk to sea wall, 10 minutes to sailing club, 4 miles from historic town of Maldon, close to Heybridge Basin and Tollesbury. Ideal for sea lovers, sailors, wedding guests, walkers, artists, bellringers, birdwatchers or anyone wanting to explore this area. Two lovely traditional pubs in the village both serving good food. Two double bedrooms available.
My home has two double rooms to let and is ideal for anyone seeking a short quiet break or visiting friends/family in the area. The ground floor room is a bright and comfortable room with window facing front garden. The shower room and toilet/washroom is just along the hallway. In your room you have a kettle, toaster and sandwich toaster. I provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk plus cornflakes and museli. You have hanging space for clothes and drawers. The host prefers visitors seeking to visit the area and its amenities who want a leisurely relaxed break. The room is located within my home, there is no separate entrance or access other rooms in the house, I therefore do not give out the house key will be available when you arrive and leave my home I kindly request that people looking at booking to stay in my home are not planning to be out very late or leaving before 7am. I am happy to answer any concerns you may have if you are planning to book and need to leave earlier. Throughout your stay check in time is after 5pm and leave time by 10am, however I am happy to be flexible on this if I can be.
This village is highly renowned for its peaceful traditional beauty. Most properties fall within a conservation area. It has a lovely church and 2 pubs. It has direct access out by country roads to larger locations such as Maldon, Colchester and Chelmsford.
  • This is a perfect base. We had an event at Five Lakes Resort and Jackie's place was only a 10 minute drive away, easy to get to and perfect if you'll be out all day. Jackie made herself available for arrival times that suited us, within the boundaries she outlined on the advert. We had fresh milk every day, and biscuits and cereals to eat. Jackie was very welcoming, offering everything we could need while we still had our own space. Bathroom facilities were great - the downstairs room has its own shower room available so we weren't sharing with anyone. Really great value for money, and if we're in the area we'll definitely stay again!

The bed was so comfortable and access to own shower and toilet just along the hallway. The village pub is close by for meals and everyone was very friendly. Definitely stay again.

Based on a mini farm with alpacas and pygmy goats, situated in the charming village of Cock Clarks, bordering Danbury / Chelmsford. It has a large table suitable for working on and is very quiet. Attached to a small office, which is occupied during the week from 8.30am to 5pm. Only 3 people work in the office and will be very respectful of your stay. The annexe is completely private during the evenings and weekends. Plenty of free off road parking, right in front of the annexe.
Set in 2 1/2 acres of semi-rural land. The main house is on-site, but far enough away for your stay to be private. The studio apartment has its own private entrance and own patio, with enough space to park two cars.
Situated within waking distance of a rustic charm pub called The Fox and Hounds. They supply seasonal pub food and breakfast at the weekend. You also have Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome within a 3 minute drive. 7 mins drive to Danbury. 10 mins drive to Maldon. 20 mins drive to Chelmsford. 30 mins drive to Bradwell. 40 mins drive to Mersea Beach.

Our luxury guest room is equipped with a king sized bed, shower, toilet, clothes storage area, satellite TV, kettle, toaster, microwave, fresh milk, silent fridge, tea & coffee making facilities & more! The room is accessed through the side gate so you can come and go without the risk of disturbing us. Large garden which you are welcome to share. Off road parking with a 10 minute walk to Maldon town centre.
The room is large (7m x 4m or 23ft x 13ft). Because the room is detached, you have no-one staying next to you. You are set back from the road (it's in our back garden) and there's only a loft space above you so this gives you a private and quiet stay. We feel that the room has a modern, homely look. Well insulated and double glazed. West facing windows and door, so no direct sunlight in the mornings. Room has its own boiler with wireless thermostat- you set the temperature. There's a table with chairs in the room for you to enjoy your breakfast at or use a table and chairs in the garden.
Located in the Essex, the town of Maldon has a rich and varied history just waiting to be explored with its oldest part sitting high on a hill overlooking the Blackwater estuary. Maldon is famous for the Hythe Quay which is a 15 minute walk away. It is home to many of the remaining Thames barges. It is also well known for its Promenade Park, originally created on the sloping bank of the River Blackwater over one hundred years ago. Popular with visitors and residents alike, this park is the centre of summer fun with playgrounds and various childrens activity areas including the very popular splash park.
  • This is a great place to stay, within walking distance of town centre, its self contained, has mini kitchen, loads of thoughtful touches and great hosts. Will definitely be returning.

  • This is a wonderful little place to stay. With the added bonus of your own boiler you can control the heating which I thought was amazing as I have a toddler and sometimes it can be too cold or hot

  • David and Lydia were lovely, extremely accommodating hosts. Their accommodation was great, located a 10-15 minute walk from Maldon town centre. They provided breakfast (selection of cereals, jams, butter, bread and milk), which they replenished throughout our stay. We had a nice trip - and would definitely stay again.

  • This is the second time we have stayed at the Garage and it was just a flying visit but we hope to make it a longer one in the summer. The room is quiet and comfortable and it is just great to have cereal, bread, tea and coffee available so that you can have breakfast every morning without any bother. We love it for its location - you can just walk into Maldon.

    Liz2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • David and Lydias place is comfortable, clean and quiet and well supplied with all the essential plus some nice extra touches like breakfast. The instructions to find it and check in are clear and easy to understand. The location is very good, a nice short walk from the town centre. David and Lydia are very hospitable and friendly and happy to help with any questions or issues. Would recommend.

  • Spent 2 nights in Jan’s lovely clean home! My bed was super comfortable, would of stayed a week longer if I could of haha! Great hospitality, good choice of breakfast and very friendly! Thank you for my lovely stay and I will be staying again shortly :) x

  • Jan's place is ideally located for Maldon and surrounding areas. It is clean, lovely and warm (important in cold, damp January) and well equipped. Jan is friendly and helpful. The bedroom has an adjoining well equipped kitchen where you can make your own continental breakfast, which Jan provides, and there is a bathroom off the kitchen with a bath and shower. There is also a door from the kitchen to an outside patio area. We were very comfortable during our stay.

  • A warm welcome, comfortable and clean. Highly recommend this lovely home. Great location for beautiful walks and Maldon town centre. Lots of nice touches, will go again

  • Jan is a phenomenal host who goes out of her way to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. She provided lots of information about travelling there by public transport and gave fantastic recommendations for where to go for food. The location is ideal Io you want a rural stay that is surprisingly close to town. As for the room and home itself, it is beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. The bed was very comfortable, the room was cosy and I had more than I could possibly have asked for. Highly recommend Jan as an Airbnb host!

  • Great hospitality, quiet comfortable stay with great walking along the coast. Maldon has plenty of choice for food and good to watch the sailing ships. Jan is a great host, and would recommend to anyone.

  • We had a lovely stay at Jan’s, wonderful double bedroom in her own with separate bathroom with tub and shower! Also kitchen area. Jan has thought of everything- she provides milk and breakfast and all tea coffee facilities which I didn’t expect! Nothing was a bother and she allowed us to use her garden also which is immaculate and serene. We enjoyed sunshine and coffee outside looking at wonderful view. Lovely lady, great host and wonderful home. Highly recommend!

  • Jan is the ultimate hostess, very pleasant and really couldn't have done more for us during our stay. The property was very clean and up together and if there was the smallest niggle it would have been with the shower but at 6ft4 I struggle with most showers. the view out the back of the property is amazing and wish we had stayed longer to fully appreciate it and Jan's hospitality.

For a holiday you’ll always remember, The Tower is a unique property that the whole family will love. Built in 1934, its interior has been decorated in keeping with the date of construction, with simple, elegant features such as a large, plain white free-standing bathtub and white ceramic tiles. Subtle touches like floor lighting and underfloor heating throughout add to the elegance. There are three storeys, with a study on the ground floor, and bedrooms, snug room and bathrooms on the second floor. The top floor is the piece de resistance, with an open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. Here, the 12-meter-wide glass wall opens out onto a large balustraded terrace, where you can enjoy stunning views across the River Crouch to Southend and the North Downs beyond. No wonder the property recently won Maldon’s Building Conservation Award. This is a delightful area of the country, with the undulating landscapes of the South Downs and historic towns of Maldon to enjoy and explore. What better way to experience it all than in your very own historic building? The holiday snaps are bound to be something special! This holiday at a glance Sleeps six guests. One king size bedroom with en-suite. One double bedroom with en-suite. One double bedroom. Family bathroom. Open plan living room with 12m wide glass wall. Please be advised there is a total of 45 stairs within the property, therefore please take extra care with small children/toddlers. Large balustraded balcony with stunning views. Snug. WiFi - Please be advised due to rural location download speed can be slow especially within peak times. Children of all ages welcome. Sorry, no dogs. Private parking for four cars. Minimum two night stay. Additional features Electric oven and hob. Combined fridge/freezer. Microwave. Dishwasher. Wine chiller. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Television with Sky. Highchair available on request. Attractions and nearby amenities Burnham-on-Crouch was once an oyster port, and there’s still a nautical feel in this picturesque town. The quay here is known as the ‘Cowes of the East Coast’ and you can take a ferry trip from here over the River Crouch. Boats are also available to hire, and there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to explore too. If you take that ferry from Burnham-on-Crouch, you’ll arrive at the Essex Marina, from where you can walk to RSPB’s Wallasea Island. This is an ongoing project to recreate a vast landscape of ancient wetlands and salt marsh. In the summer, you’ll see flocks of terns, and in the winter the landscape is filled with literally thousands of waders and wildfowl. Overlooking the Blackwater estuary, Maldon is an ancient Essex town with medieval timbered buildings and contemporary shops. Old Thames barges are moored at Hythe Quay, and you can get to see more of this unique maritime landscape by taking a boat trip on one of these old craft. If you’re hoping for a historic holiday, make sure to visit The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall. This is the oldest church in England, dating back to 654AD. This tranquil building is at the end of the St Peters Way walk, and has superb views of the coast. Green-fingered visitors will love a trip to the RHS Garden Hyde Hall, a 360-acre estate with fascinating and ever-changing garden areas, like the Dry Garden or the Hilltop Garden. It’s not all plants either – keep your eyes peeled for brown hares, as well as butterflies and birds. At the end of the Chelmer & Blackwater canal, you’ll find Heybridge Basin, where a sea lock links the canal to the Blackwater estuary. There are plenty of coastal walks to enjoy from here, or you can just sit and enjoy a meal at one of the two pubs, looking out on all the maritime activity. • A group of six adults booked x3 rooms to attend a nearby wedding earlier this month. What we expected was a very budget motel, what we got were lovely clean spaces, with very thoughtful touches like chocolates on our pillows and fresh orange/tea and bread provided for breakfast. These rooms were lovely and provided everything we needed - so would highly recommend for an overnight stay.

  • Great spot for my family’s trip to England. They loved it.

    Christopher2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay, the house is really amazing and was a great place for a break by the coast and a wedding. The little extra touches of flowers on the table, fresh milk in the fridge were just a small part of the wonderful welcome. The smallest member of our party was thrilled that there were Duplo bricks in his cupboard and Thomas the Tank Engine books to read! Would recommend this place really highly! Many thanks Alan.

A few miles in the car can take you to places, like Mersea Island, Dedham (John Constable Country), Tiptree Jam Factory and Tea Rooms. • First of all, I would like to mention what a great host Jane is. She did everything to make sure my daughter and I had a great stay in the annex: from providing extra bedding to lovely fresh flowers. Tiptree jam was a treat! The accommodation is really like a mini house you have completely to yourselves. There is a sitting room with the most comfortable recliner I have ever sat on, a really well equipped kitchen (an oven, a microwave, an electric job, a kettle, a toaster, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery, etc) so we easily cooked our meals every night, a shower room and bedroom with a really comfortable bed. The accommodation is located in a lovely rural area in Essex, away enough from big roads and city noise. It was lovely to wake up to the birds singing every morning. Having said that, it is not far at all from the main roads to Chelmsford, Colchester, etc. We had no problem getting out and about. The annexe was nice and warm but if anyone gets chilly, there are 2 independent heaters for you to use. There is parking on the drive and WiFi worked well. In short, we really enjoyed our stay and hoping to be back soon.

  • A really great place for a family stay. Spot on

    Christopher2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four (2 adults, 2.5 year old toddler, 10 month old baby) stayed in the family room. Charlene was able to fit a double bed, day bed for the toddler, and a baby cot in the room and it didn’t feel too cramped (we put luggage in the entrance hall). Communication with Charlene was easy and she had everything we needed for an overnight stay, including bread, milk, cereal, pastries, tea and coffee for the following morning! The room was clean and our late check in wasn’t a problem (key lock box with code given). We’ve stayed in a few places in the area while visiting family and this by far is one of the cleaner, better equipped places. We’ll stay here again when in the area.

  • Very helpful host who was on hand to welcome me. She made me feel at home even when I forgot the house rule of not wearing shoes upstairs. The breakfast Sally cooked was delicious even though I asked for it at the unholy hour of 6:30 am . I was allowed to sleep peacefully through the day without noise as I recuperated from my night shift. The facilities were first class and her husband(Ben?) was very friendly and helpful with information on cars as I let them know I was looking to buy another car. I wholeheartedly recommend their place and will surely stay there again if the opportunity arises. Thank you, Sally. I am most appreciative.
