Places to stay in Belize
Stay on your-very-own island with your loved one, family or group of dear friends in total comfort. Bird Island is located inside one of the most beautiful atolls in southern Belize, with superb snorkeling and kayaking right outside your door. It has been featured in many national and international publications; it was the opening act in Airbnb's 'Like This, Live There' ad campaign. It is well described by the reviews left by past guests.
Want to get-away from it all, even for the shortest of time, then this is the place. Want to go swimming or snorkeling at your own leisure in crystal clear water in a beautiful unspoiled reef, you will be surrounded by one. After spending time at Bird Island, even for the shortest of time, you will feel like you have done something truly special. -------------------------------------------------------- ~ General Information ~. (Updated March, 2020)~ #1- Getting to Placencia from Belize City: By Shuttle: All-in-One Travel Services, $90 per person (each way); pick up at Belize International airport. 3-hour ride. (011-501-620-2267 / 515-7225). Private SUV and individual help. Great folks. By Rental Car: between $90 - $100 USD a day; roughly 3 hour drive. We have our own private place to leave your rental car while in Placencia.) By Air: (Maya or Tropic Air) $135 USD each way per person / 40 minute flight. Fastest way. By Taxi : $300 USD each way by SUV (4 people); $350 USD by van (6 people). (Note: If going to Bird Island the same day as arriving, the shuttle/rental car/taxi way works as long as one is arriving in Belize International by 1pm (it is a 3hr drive to Placencia + 1 hr for food shopping + 30 minutes to get to the island by 6pm; it gets dark in Belize by 6:30. If arriving to Belize International after 1pm it is best to fly to Placencia. #2- Length of stay: We have a minimum stay of 4 days, no maximum. #3- In order to help you with your food shopping (for only meats, vegetables and drinks), we can pick you where you are staying as early as 11am (check-in is at Noon) on the day of your departure to the island. Just let us know where you are staying prior to your island visit, we can then pick you up and can take you food shopping and off we go. Please note this option is available if staying somewhat near the town of Placencia; if staying well away from the village, up the Placencia peninsula, such places usually do have a free shuttle into town. Pick-up from the island should be roughly about 2 hours before departing Placencia. #4- The short trip from Placencia Village to Bird Island is included in the price. If not helping you with last-minute food shopping which in that case we meet you at 11am, as a default, we meet at 12 Noon (or later), at the UNO gas station / dock (back of M&M Hardware which is a huge orange building and parking lot in the very middle of town). There is only one gas station in town. #5- Sleeping accommodations: The island's has three separate buildings with sleeping accommodations; the main house which has a master bedroom with a queen-size bed with all amenities, 2nd building has a new over-the-water, totally self-contained cabana also with queen-sized bed and all amenities. The 3rd building is now an upstairs studio with a spectacular view, again a full bed and full bathroom. #7 - Extra Guests: Upon booking, if you are not sure how many extra guests there will be, perhaps it is best to book only 2 (base price is for the first 2 persons), and then change your reservation as you get closer to actual arrival if more are indeed coming. The island is now perfectly suited for 6 people. #8 - Side tours while staying in town or Bird Island: there are two tours we highly recommend, one being the 'Smogarbord' fishing trip for a combination of fishing, lobstering & conch when in season with Thurman ($300 for 2 persons, $350 for 4 persons); and the second being a combination trip to the Main Barrier Reef / Laughing Bird Preserve for exceptional snorkeling swimming with turtles, sharks and other reef fish ($100 per person). Yamaha Sea-Scooters are provided with all our tours. #9 - Exclusivity. Yes, when you book Bird Island, you will have the whole true island all to yourself in ~total~ privacy. There is no staff on the island. We are not aware of any other island in Belize that offers this option. #10 - Security: Bird Island is only 6 miles away from the town of Placencia; far enough yet close enough in case of emergency. It is inside a natural atoll, adding to its unique private feeling. #11- Food: Bird Island is a self-catering scenario, but plan to only bring enough meats, vegetable, drinks and ice for your stay since the island does have a very well-stocked kitchen with a myriad of condiments such as cake mixes, flour, rice, spices, oils, paper towels, garbage bags, charcoal, etc. You are not required to think of every little thing. We can help you with food shopping which is really a very simple last-minute affair; it is the very last step before leaving for Bird Island. It has a refrigerator and now also a freezer to maintain ice during your stay. #12 - Drinking Water: The island has a well-filtered rain-water system for all general uses; however we still provide purified bottled water for drinking so no need to worry about bringing drinking water yourself. #13 - Wading slipper-type shoes. The island is surrounded by hard sand flats and within 100 feet by a full circle of shallow live coral; bringing soft shoes that cover your toes and ankle are a good thing to have when walking about. There are many pairs or water shoes in the island that may fit you. #14 - Snorkeling equipment: Bring your own; however, the island does have many sets that may fit you, but if you require unusual sizes we can bring specific sets for you from our tour office in town. Just let us know of such requirements before we leave for the island. #15- Fishing equipment: The island is usually surrounded by constant marauding schools of fish (jacks, snappers, etc) feeding around it. If want to do bottom fishing on your own, you should make sure to buy a bag of shrimp bait when food shopping. The island has two fishing docks. #16 - Power: Bird Island is powered by solar power and while it is more than enough to power most needs without much worry, though some degree of awareness of limited power should be kept in mind during your stay. High power appliances like hair dryers can't be run. AC is not available but actually has never been needed because of the constant ocean breeze at the island; nonetheless, fans are provided in every room on the island for those rare dead-still days. #17 - Refrigeration: The island has a propane refrigerator and a chest freezer to maintain your ice during your entire stay. Bringing at least four (4-6) bags of ice is highly recommended and more than sufficient. #18 - Communication. A local phone is at the island for local calls. The island has acceptable and reliable WiFi; streaming however should be kept at a minimum. Bandwidth is very expensive in Belize. #19 - Getting around the atoll. There are 2 single-person plus 2 new double-person kayaks to cruise the atoll that surrounds the island, plus new leisure rafts also. #20 - Music - The island has a Bose Bluetooth speaker to play your own music from your phone. #21 - Sun Tan Lotion and Bug Spray. Remember, it is the tropics; the best type of suntan lotion is one of a high enough Block Factor, either lotion or spray type. As to bugs (i.e. sand flies, mosquitos), Bird Island just doesn't have them, unlike the mainland or most other islands. Only on rare dead-still days a few ~may~ come momentarily over from another nearby islands. The lack of annoying bugs IS one of the most appreciated and important aspects of Bird Island. #22 - Places to Stay while in Placencia: today there are many nice places, walking distance to where we leave from. We do highly recommend Brisas Oceano or Nirvana (more upscale) right in town and on the beach; Mariposa Resort that is just outside of the town of Placencia is another nice totally-self contained alternative with a nice swimming pool and restaurant and also right on the beach. #23 - General weather pattern: January-June 15th: is considered the 'dry season'. June 15th-July 15th: the first seasonal rains tend to occur. July 15th-September 15th: usually is very nice weather, interrupted by the occasional 30-minute passing shower. September 15th-October 30th: the second seasonal rains tend to occur, again passing showers. November 1st-December 30th daily scattered thunderstorms here and there but great weather in long stretches between them. (Please note that weather in Belize tends to be pleasant, specially at Bird Island which is in a rain shadow and inside an atoll, so its surrounding waters stay clear even if windy. Needless to say, weather we could never guarantee, so the above is only a rough guide. Last Note: Bird Island is always undergoing improvements each year. Two seasons ago we added new decks, a fishing dock and the new observatory overlooking the atoll, which guests have welcomed. Last year we added the new walkways, an over-the-water totally self-contained cabana, a new fishing dock and an enclosed swimming area with a gazebo over it. A beach has already been done and we are now finishing the new upstairs studio and both be finished by April 2020.
There are other nearby islands and reefs for exploring.
  • 10 out of 5 stars. Not if you’re looking for a private island with a butler. This is an awesome no one else around kind of getaway. Fred, Ruth and Leomar are awesome, helpful hosts. And Thurman is the man to fish with. (If you go fishing with him, wait for the fish cleaning. And the chum hole magic.) Kitchen is way better stocked than you’d expect on an atoll (we even made a carrot cake!) I’d advise that you doublecheck prices (as season and number of guests boosted the “front page” rate, understandably), and the Privasea website may not be up to date (also understandably, as they’re busy taking care of guests and clients). Fishing and snorkeling tours with Privasea are fantastic (shout out to Ori, too). And while hauling seawater to flush your toilet may need to happen, it’s so worth it. Fly fishing on the atoll is priceless. Go, even if just for the chum hole.

  • So much has been said about Bird Island, so I won't bother repeating what others have said. If you like adventure, you'll have a ball. We spent six nights. The first 30 minutes I was terrified by the length. By the end, we could have stayed another week.

  • From the moment I arrive on island, a peaceful feeling washes over me. Perfectly appointed, immaculately clean and well-stocked. The newly added beach area and grotto bar were a delight! Mia, the tiny resident bird was a sweetheart. A bonfire every night after sunset. WiFi made work a breeze. Kayaking to neighboring islands and walking the perimeter of the nearby blue hole were incredible moments. The best Christmas of my life. Every person needs to experience this island. Thank you!

  • Awesome Island Thanks Fred

  • Every wonderful review about Bird Island was true! It was total paradise. Our TOP highlight of the trip was the fishing tour we booked with Thurman. He's so sweet and knowledgable about the area, and took us to all his secret fishing spots. We caught 12 fish, 5 lobsters, and 6 conches...and could have kept going but it was already way more food than my husband and I could have possibly finished in the 4 days we were there. Definitely recommend booking that tour as an addition to the trip (on the 1st day so you have plenty stocked for the remaining days). The kitchen was very well stocked as well - even if we hadn't caught any fish or brought any food, there was enough there to eat comfortably for 4 days. The only thing missing is fruits and veggies...and booze :) Wi-fi is not amazing on the island, but you're there to disconnect right? It's enough for emails and a little bit of social media, but forget about streaming anything! Also our first night there, the wi-fi went down entirely so were pretty isolated from the world for ~40-some hours. Overall - food was great, weather / temperature was great, hot showers + cool ocean was great...it was a perfect trip!

  • Bird Island is perfect for those who are self sufficient and prefer a humble home away from home experience on water. We LOVED it. A full kitchen had all amenities we needed and then some. The marine and bird life around was WONDERFUL. I really enjoyed the kayaking. Fred and Ruth were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure our wants and needs were met. I wished for nothing but sun... was a bit overcast for our stay but no "wish I had" in regards to the amenities. I would definitely reserve Bird Island again!

  • My husband booked this island retreat for my 50th birthday. We booked it when I was 47 if that tells you how popular it is but it was completely worth the wait! The ocean breezes and the privacy were unlike any other vacation we’ve had. I’m going to start with tips for future islanders...Bring at least 15-20 bags of ice. The yeti coolers held the ice very well and were helpful in keeping our drinks cool. The fridge is propane and went out on us with two days left so we had to throw a lot of our food to the fish. If we had brought more ice we may have been able to salvage a couple hundred dollars worth of food. The pantry is stocked with pasta, rice, canned veggies, ramen, soup, oil, etc so don’t double up if you don’t want to. Make a good grocery list before you go to Ming’s because it gets very expensive very quickly. There is LOTS of bug spray on the island. But it was mostly unnecessary. Hardly any bugs. Ask Fred how to run the generator, how to fill the toilet flushing tank, and how to change any propane tanks and relight the fridge BEFORE he leaves the island. If you want to see the nurse sharks and stingrays in the late afternoon bring cans of tuna and chum the water. They are a beautiful sight to behold. Book the smorgasbord excursion with Thurman from Privasea Adventures to catch fish for your dinners. We had 6 people on our trip and caught enough for two of the four dinners. It was amazing and Thurman was a great guide for the area. We did it the day before going to the island so we didn’t have to use any of our island days. Thurman cleans and filets it all and brings it to you when you’re ready to go to Bird Island. There’s fresh water to drink, don’t bother buying any. I’m sure there’s more but that’s a good start. It was serene and peaceful and we were never bored. I highly recommend this Airbnb and Fred and Ruth were excellent hosts! I hope to visit again! I posted a couple videos on YouTube if you want the full tour!

Another truly unique feature is Little Peter's private blue lagoon completely protected by coral reef. It is like having your own miniature "Blue Hole"
  • Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay. The villa is perfectly designed, with wrap around veranda , so you can always shelter from the breeze, doesn’t matter where the wind is coming from. Beds are comfortable and we never used the air conditioning as we found that it was always cool to sleep if you open the window shutters. I recommend banana and chocolate pancakes for breakfast, they are so yummy! I also had a stone crab for dinner once. Make sure you request it, the meat is so tender and almost sweet. Chef also made a chocolate cake for my belated birthday. We enjoyed the mini golf and played it every afternoon . The mini golf area is perfect for practicing your putting and also for star gazing at night. We called it “ Astro turf helipad” . If you are into star gazing you will be very happy as when the sky is clear you can see millions of stars thanks to the total darkness around you! Keep in mind that fresh fish supply can be very limited when the sea is rough/ strong winds, that’s our only negative comment as we didn’t have the fresh fish daily .

  • Little Peter Oasis!!! Where do I begin, this little piece of Paradise went above and beyond what we expected! From the time of booking, Jason was helpful and responded immediately to any and all questions and concerns. our arrival into Belize city to catch our connecting flight to Dangria went so smoothly with the help of Emilio, who greeted us and made sure we were well taken care almost, VIP status through the airport. Manny where can we begin, he picked us up at the Dangria airport to take us over to the marina. He was so helpful, friendly and went above and beyond to ensure our trip was amazing. Once at the marina we were met by Mickey and Alvin who were going to boat us over to the island. I will not forget the excitement we felt as the boat neared our little Paradise. We were greeted on the dock by Randy, yet another amazing person we were blessed to meet on this trip. Every single name I mentioned, each of these individuals made our trip. We enjoyed their company and felt like they were more of an extended family than staff. Mickeys cooking was AMAZING!!! Alvin, Manny, Randy made our time fishing, snorkeling, fish tossing, lobster catching an amazing experience. Our cornhole tournament and the bonfire roasting marshmallows with the guys on the last night was such a nice intimate touch to close off our extremely amazing weekend at Little Peter Oasis. Without a doubt we plan on coming back, maybe a new tradition to visit once a year at least. already planning our next trip!!! Jason did a wonderful job with the island and with the staff!!!!

  • This property surpassed our expectations even after reading all the five star reviews. If you’re looking for a spot on the ocean that is peaceful without other vacationers and you are willing to be patient with spotty internet and planned hot water for showers (to be expected on a a private island) this place is heaven. My family of 4 including two college students probably had the best island experience ever and we travel lots around the holidays. We lucked out with good weather so that helped but I have not one bad comment to make. The sunsets every night we’re probably the best we have ever seen. The owner and staff communicate very well and think of everything that you may need to make your stay enjoyable including rain jackets on the boat in case it starts to rain and you need it. The cost was a bit higher than we usually spend due to the time of year we chose to go, but it was worth every penny. We hope to go back one day!

    Maria2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! The most beautiful place I have ever been to. Whether you are looking to just relax by the water or be adventurous on the excursions nothing will disappoint. The guys on the Island become family helping 10x your overall experience from food, hospitality and conversations! You will not be disappointed!

    Ryan2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • There are no words to express how amazing our experience was! The magic of this island was a dream come to life. Manny, Micky, and Alvin are beyond phenomenal and we can never thank them enough. Hands down best vacation EVER!

    Adrienne2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing vacation at Little Peter Oasis! The island itself is simply beautiful with gorgeous views wherever you look. The reef to snorkel provided great entertainment and just watching all the sea life swim around the house was so cool. The staff were incredible - shout out to Manny, Mickey, Alvin and Randy! We asked Mickey to cook his specialties and everything was delicious! We hope to come back for a visit again soon!

    Will2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Little Peter's Oasis is an extraordinary place and experience. You cannot ask for a more beautiful location - WOW. Our favorite parts included being on the boat with Manny and having him show us the unbelievable sights; kayaking around the island to just float above the coral gardens and wonder at the sealife so visible; hours or lounging on the deck looking out at the lagoon and the sea; and interacting with your amazing staff including Micky, Randy, and Alvin. We were so pampered, and yet left to ourselves! We hope we can make a return trip.

    Elizabeth2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was without a doubt one of the best hidden gems we have found. Far exceeded our expectations and the service all the way around was the best. I highly recommend taking the boat there and the helicopter back. Jason and his team were absolutely amazing. We will for sure be sending everyone we know their way. Words can't describe the experience. We travel all over the world looking for places like this. Thanks for making our job easy!!!

This 3,000 sq. foot jungle home and creative space provides an isolated, unique rainforest destination, which features a Santa Maria tree growing through the building. This off the grid home is powered by solar, where four wheel drive is mandatory.
This is a remote, off-the-grid home, is located in the Better in Belize Eco-Community. A Four wheel drive vehicle is mandatory to access the Macal River Lot . The house offers a perfect retreat in an active rainforest. There is access to numerous local markets, tourist attractions and lots of adventure activities including River Raft Expeditions, Horseback Riding, etc.
Better in Belize (BIB) is an Eco-Community in the Mayan Mountains in the Cayo District of Belize. The community boost a community garden, a recreation area, many roads to hike and explore. We are 10.5 miles from Benque which has many attractions and supplies. San Ignacio is also close with a daily market, restaurants and lots of opportunities to explore.
  • You can expect things as they are described. Do not under estimate the need for 4x4 and keeping an open mind about the off grid life style.

    Bradley2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do the house justice actually. It was gorgeous - and every room has a view. I highly recommend ordering meals and letting Iris cook for you. They were simple meals but with the house being SO remote, it was a thoughtful touch since you can’t just pop into town and grab something. Read and follow Jim’s directions thoroughly, especially getting to the house before dusk. If you’re not an experienced driver, the road can be intimidating and that is even moreso at night. At the police checkpoint, they made us aware of some activity in the area but we felt very safe in the house. Overall great experience and would highly recommend for experienced travelers who are looking for unique trips off the beaten path.

    Carlyn2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We love Casa Santa Maria! The tree-top jungle location can't be beat. The home is peaceful, comfortable, and spacious, with all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. The river and waterfalls are gorgeous!! Definitely take out the canoe; you won't regret it. Wonderful bird and mammal watching, too! The howler monkeys always provide a wonderful concert right off the magnificent deck!!

    Rick & Melissa2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time. Jim, Jorge and iris were incredibly helpful and kind. The house was beautiful and the help with excursions was truly appreciated!

    Abigail2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best Airbnb experience I’ve ever had. The house was breathtaking and Jim was an excellent host, so helpful and responsive. He helped us coordinate multiple excursions (the pontoon boat was the perfect way to relax while also experiencing the beauty of the Macal river) and Iris is such a great cook, it was so worth it to have her available to us. The house is a bit remote so driving in to town for meals would have been a pain. Thank you Jim for sharing your home with us and making our time in Belize unforgettable!

    Claudio2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place is a beautiful oasis in the jungle. The house is modern, clean and well appointed. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay. You really feel one with nature and the forest, as the patio opens up right into it. We could hear the howler monkey roars a lot! The wood dining table outside is stunning. The hammocks and lounge chairs are comfortable. Also, the fresh cooking was absolutely delicious. Main thing to note is that it's a 1 hour or more drive on an unpaved rough road to get to the place after leaving the main road - so it is really remote. Once you are there, you may not want to go back to town as the drive is such a pain, so you should plan to just stay there for the full time. You can do the pontoon boat tour and horse riding tours which are in that area. Only other thing is that internet is quite slow inside the house. It is ok in the patio outside.

  • We truly enjoyed spending part of our honeymoon at Casa Santa Maria. What a beautiful home and wonderful experience we had.

    Rosetta2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! This spot is definitely off the beaten path (take Jim seriously when he says to rent a 4WD car only!) and the rewards for the long, rocky drive are well worth it. The house is gorgeous and we decided to stay in and enjoy our full day on the property, taking out the canoe for the most gorgeous day trip imaginable. Hidden waterfalls, being the only people on the river... unreal. We had a lovely time.

Huge private deck on the top floor. Breezy and cool. Relax in your hammock and listen to the birds. Its very private. There are over 100 trees on the property and 30 species of birds. Think urban nature reserve! There is a cafe on site to hang out with other guests or you may cook there in the full kitchen. A three minute walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. Everyone loves this room! Spend at least 5 nights in San Pedro. There is a lot to do and you can do jungle tours from here.
I have four rooms in my guest house. You can see them here. I can sleep a total of 10 people for larger groups. Go ahead and explore! https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12603115?s=51 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4997035?s=51 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/14486190?s=51 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1443152?s=51 This is a private, top floor apartment tucked in a Belizean neighbourhood. The ice cream guy cycles by daily with home made ice cream! The children play in the street. Your huge private deck is on the top floor. My home is close to the beach, restaurants and supermarkets. It is clean and tasteful. There are big trees and birds. It is breezy and tranquil and not a resort or a hotel. It is a home! My home is located at the end of an un paved street. It has a central american village atmosphere as does the town of San Pedro. It is a destination for the mindful traveller. I provide linens, bath towels, beach towels, shampoo/body wash, hand soap, tea and coffee. There is a kitchen at the onsite cafe that you may cook in if you feel like a home cooked meal! I do suggest guests rent a cart (to explore far north or further south.) I can help with the rental. There are endless activities on the island. Diving. Snorkelling. Reef. Restaurants. Local stores and fresh tortillas made locally! I have wonderful contacts in the Cayo/San Ignacio area. If you need help with accommodation in that area I can help. Also with tours to ATM, Xunantunich etc. with local world class guides! Laundry service available. Wash, sun dry and fold for $5a load. The studio is completely private on the top floor and guests can have as little or as much interactions as needed to be comfortable! There is a world class restaurant very close with signature cocktails and tasteful tapas. If you are in the mood for a warm croissant, wander to the bakery. Its also close to a lovely swimming pool and the incredible endless, beach. Also for the birders out there....I have the following birds confirmed in my garden Golden-fronted woodpecker Tropical mockingbird Altamira oriole Orchard oriole Bananaquit Black-headed Trogon Great-tailed gackle Cinnamon-sided hummingbird Lets add to the list! I love it here and you will too!
My small guest house "Feathers" is in a local area. The ice cream guy cycles by daily with home made ice cream. The children play in the street. The fabulous older gentleman cycles by daily with his fruit and veggies for sale. Its so much better than a cookie cutter hotel or resort! Its home!
  • We had a great stay. The place is a little paradise and they're great hosts.

    Rogier2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Feathers is not a resort and not your typical Airbnb. It is instead a fantastic place to experience the real Belize. The grounds are very beautiful, fully shaded with tall trees, many different birds, chickens and iguanas roaming over sand meticulously raked every day. There is no food allowed in the rooms and no refrigerator in the rooms. Instead there is a shared kitchen/cafe with refrigerator for the 6-10 guests to use and when desired, to share each others company. It is walkable to beaches, restaurants, street food, and small markets. You might want to rent a golf cart or take cabs to get to San Pedro center some 2-3 miles away. We found not being so close to town center a great advantage. Diana is a tremendous hostess residing on the premises. She is warm and generous, extremely knowledgeable about Ambergris and the mainland. She will help your time in Belize the best it can be.

    Frank2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great stay in a beautiful garden. It’s quiet and away from all the business of the town. Our host was very helpful and friendly with our accommodations and questions. Would definitely book again!

    Quysi2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed your warm presence, your artistry, and the beautiful communal space you’ve created . Thanks for sharing it! We will definitely recommend your place to others! Thanks so much Diana!

    Amy2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Diana is a fantastic host. She provides not only a thorough knowledge of San Pedro and Belize, but gives a family environment to her guests. You can keep entirely to yourself or engage with other travelers in the shared cafe, many great options.

  • I have stayed in many airbnbs and none of them come close to Diana's place. It truly felt like home. We stayed in the rooftop guesthouse and we had everything we needed. A full kitchen downstairs, hot water, a hammock, and even drinking water. Before we checked in, Diana helped us get a golf cart at a reasonable price and it was waiting for us at the property. If I ever come back to Belize, I am staying here again. The pictures don't do the place justice, it is so much more beautiful in person.

  • This little log cabin is comfortable and quiet. We loved hearing the howler monkeys, parrots, and watching wildlife near the pond. The bed was the most comfortable bed we’ve slept in in Belize! If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat Bruce’s place is the best!

    Linda2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Brucie's place--it was such a beautiful setting with lots of peace and privacy. The cabin took care of all our needs. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning with coffee and sitting by the lake in the evenings to feed the turtles and watch the monkeys--yes, we saw them come through twice! The best thing about the stay was Brucie himself--we let him take us around to nearly all the excursions, so we spent quite a bit of time with him thoroughly enjoying his knowledge, humor, running commentary, and great personality. Setting up excursions to pay through AirBnB was perfect so we didn't have to have lots of cash. We walked around through the community quite a bit, and had a number of people stop and visit with us--it was so nice!

  • If you're looking at this property, and reading these reviews, YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!! The log cabin was immaculate and Bruce was an INCREDIBLE host. He picked us up from the airport and on the ride to the cabin (about 1 hr) he started telling us about things we were seeing along the way. The cabin was IMMACULATE upon arrival and it was even better than the pictures you see here (because you're actually there!!) We spent alot of time with Bruce (because we booked all of our excursions through him prior to arrival) and he made sure to give us the best experiences at all of them. He has a team of people that work with him (that were all awesome as well) and he planned out our vacation according to days when the weather was good and the sites wouldn't be as busy etc. (for example we did a few things on days where no cruise ships were around, aka TONS of people, so we avoided those crowds!!) He also gives his guests a cellphone so that you can easily contact him if need be and would answer it immediately. You can tell that Bruce loves his country and wants to teach you all about it and give you the best experience as possible while you are staying at his property. Like it says in the description, the property is located near a small village and there are no restaurants/bars/stores within walking distance (so don't come here for the nightlife.) You can however buy fresh bread, cheese, icecream etc. from the Mennonites just down the road which I HIGHLY recommend!! There is also a store that has all of the essentials (booze, toilet paper, snacks and food etc.) in Bermudian Landing which we accessed by bicycles (which are also provided by Bruce) and it took us about 20 minutes (one way.) We loved hanging out in the hammocks on the covered porch and LITERALLY spent hours out there! The Howler Monkeys did come visit us a few times at the cabin (which was truly incredible!) We fed the turtles and fish everyday which was also awesome! There is NO WI-FI or TV so you must be there to ditch the technology and enjoy your beautiful surroundings! We would listen to the jungle come alive, have some drinks and play cards (which I HIGHLY recommend bringing) every night which was a nice change of pace!! In summary, you can probably tell that we TRULY enjoyed our stay at the log cabin and Bruce was an AMAZING host, he was like our Belizean dad while we were there (even though I think we're similar in age) and we always felt safe and well taken care of!! If you're looking to enjoy nature in Belize (and all the peace and tranquility that it has to offer) then this is the place for you!! We would go back in a heartbeat!

  • Great little cabin just 25 minutes from the airport but also rural. We got welcomed home one night a male howler monkey right above the cabin. It was a nice serene place to wake up in & take coffee on the screen porch. I recommend getting the AC - it made for extra peaceful sleep at night (along with the fam). Be sure to stop by the baboon sanctuary and say hi to Richard. He was a lovely guide and I got to meet a baby howler monkey, female monkeys and a large male. Enjoy the nature, the water & the street food.

    Amy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very quiet out of the way log cabin in which to spend a couple of days relaxing. It is comfortable, clean with basic equipment - all you need to be self sufficient. The shelter by the lake has a BBQ, seating, a hammock and a canoe. The community baboon reserve is well work a visit - the local guides are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. If travelling without a car take everything with you - there are no shops within walking distance.

  • Brucie is an outstanding host. Our experiences staying in the Eco Cabin are unforgettable. He taught us so much about Belizean culture and history. The cabin was the perfect start to our stay in Belize. It’s an amazing, quiet way to unplug. On the property there is a beautiful pond with iguanas, turtles, fish, birds and more. The cabin is quaint and cozy. He provides bikes to roam around the village. We walked up to the Mennonite farm up the street multiple times for bread, butter, ice cream and cookies. The bread is the best we’ve ever had. Brucie set us up with excursions to visit the Mayan ruins at Lamanai and go see the Howler monkeys. Both were among the highlights of our stay in Belize.

    Joshua2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay with a lot of marine and wildlife. Brucie was great and we really enjoyed it.

    Cathy2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 days/ nights in the cabin and had Brucie arrange all of our activities while there. It was such a great vacation! The cabin has exactly what you need and is very clean. Outside, we saw monkeys, iguanas, turtles, and tons of birds. Brucie drove us to the Baboon Sanctuary (Kreol for howler monkeys), ziplining/ cave tubing, and to the riverboat/ Lamani Mayan ruins tour. We enjoyed all the activities and were grateful to not have to do any planning/ driving ourselves. Brucie is friendly, easy- going, and incredibly knowledgeable about not only the touristy activities but also the history and culture of Belize.

The Cozy Cabana is a cute and cozy studio, located in a quiet neighborhood and only minutes walk to the famous Split. The interior is basic, though comfortable. If you want a touch of the real Belizean lifestyle, this is the place to be. IMPORTANT: this cabana has A/C but it's not included in the listing price. For 10 USD per night you can choose to use the A/C, payable upon arrival.
The cabana hosts a maximum of 2 people and is a perfect hangout for snorkeling-, fishing-, sailing- or diving trips or just relax under a shady almond tree in the yard. Inside is a small living area with kitchen (stove/oven, fridge, all necessary utensils), half separate bedroom with a queen bed and a spacious shower/bathroom. The cabana does not have hot water, but in a tropical climate you'll be happy to take a refreshing shower. Outside is a comfortable veranda with hammock. Wireless Internet is free and there's a small library and some board- & card games. If you like dogs, you're at the right spot, because we have 3. At day time you'll find them in the yard and they love it when you pet them. They're not allowed inside the rental, but if you don't mind, they hang out on the veranda. Close to the house -about 50 yards from the property- is our dock, which is a perfect spot for a morning coffee, sunbathing or a dip in the water. This dock also gives you a front row seat for the most beautiful sunsets. The cabana itself is located in the backyard of the very unique and authentic (outdoor) restaurant 'Wish Willy Bar & Grill', run by my husband. The restaurant is not more than a couple of tables and chairs in the yard and you have to walk through it to reach your cabana. From the veranda you look out over the restaurant. It's open every night for dinner, some days also breakfast and/or lunch is being served.
The cabana is just a moments walk to 'The Split', where the island is split in two and which is the most popular spot for swimming, snorkeling or have a drink at the famous bar 'the Lazy Lizard'. The main street -Front Street- is right around the corner. Here you'll find several restaurants, supermarkets, souvenir shops and food- and fruit stands. The many local people you meet are always in for a chat. The part of the island where the cabana is located is only 100 yards wide so the sea & beach are always nearby.
  • Location was great, close to the Split. The dock was a nice bonus. Monique & Maurice are great!

    Rachel2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time!! Everything we needed relaxation and sun :-)

    Heather2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Monique is certainly a Super Host. She made our visit to Caye Calker a very enjoyable experience. The private dock to view the sunsets was wonderful and everything was in walking distance.

    Clark2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved my stay here. Monique met me and walked me through the house guide, answered all my questions and was just generally wonderful. The 2 dogs are such a bonus for me as an animal lover (I’ll miss Gumbo). It’s cozy and cute and authentic. I look forward to returning one day.

Orchid Bay is a resort community located on the beautiful Bay of Chetumal in northern Belize. Casita 9A is an 1150 sqft 2 bedroom (one is a loft) one bath home with a complete kitchen and large screened in porch right on the waterfront. The community pool is fun place to hang out. Paddle boards are available for your use at the Tradewinds Restaurant. All taxes are included in the price.
Casita 9A is the most secluded casita at Orchid Bay with a double water view from the screened in porch (west and north). The Maya Dock boardwalk, built on the submerged remains of an ancient Maya pier, and Maya Beach are right out the front door. Note: Orchid Bay is located 1 mile across the river (Laguna Seca) from Copper Bank. If you look on the map to the east and north of Copper Bank you will see Orchid Bay Road and Orchid Bay at the end of that road. It is approximately 12 miles from Corozal Town. See below for more directions.
We love the peace and quiet that comes with staying here. The security of the property is wonderful and those that live here are fun to visit with. We are located between the small villages of Copper Bank and Chunox. Every Monday night they have soup night at the Tradewinds Restaurant - it's a time to have some delicious soup at a low price and mingle with those living and staying at Orchid Bay.
  • The location of this casita within Orchid Bay is the best. Each evening we were treated to sunset views and each morning we watched the light hit the water as the sun came up. It's a long bumpy road to get there but that didn't bother us at all. We met so many wonderful people, some who were living there full time. There is a nice community feel. Know that you are pretty isolated. We bought groceries and ate at the onsite restaurant. We had everything we needed. The water was lovely and it was heavenly to just float around. If you are looking for a nice relaxing getaway, consider Jeff and Debi's place.

    Fredna2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at Orchid Bay! Our Casita was the perfect size for us and our college age kids. It was big enough but not too big. It had exactly what we needed but not not filled with a bunch of “stuff.” The sunsets were amazing; the people who worked at Trade Winds, the security personnel (especially Sergio) and the people who live at Orchid Bay made this such a memorable trip. We loved laying in the many hammocks, riding bikes around property, and strolling around the trails. Debi was super responsive and the dock and beach felt like ours. The screened-in porch was our second family room. A family highlight for sure!!

    Hillary2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Debis’s casita was such a wonderful surprise when we got there, it was everything we expected. The place was clean and all ready for us when we got there and for 8 days I don’t believe any of us had a single issue. The scenery and being right next to the water was awesome and the sunset views we had from the front door were nothing like I’ve ever seen. My family and I loved the orchid bay and the casita and it’s definitely a trip worth making again!

    Shaun2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property located on the water. And QUIET! Such a nice retreat - waking up in the morning to the sound of waves gently lapping the shore right outside the bedroom window. The property is located in a sort of ex-pat community where so many of the residents seemed to know one another and were great to talk to and get to know. There is also a restaurant/bar on the grounds where we ate the majority of our meals (the ceviche is fantastic). David, the property manager, was very helpful. Highly recommend this place.

    Ashley2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at their Casita. It is really relaxing and isolated but having the restaurant right there is convenient. The manager was very helpful and helped us settle in and find the best road to come. Roads getting there are bad but are supposed to be improved

    Gonzalo2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for having us, extremely convenient. I didn´t realize there was an entire accommodating staff for any questions or issues. We were very impressed. Thank you Jeff and Debi!

    Christopher2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Debi & Jeff's casita (9A) is even better in person! My husband and I especially loved the location of the casita within Orchid Bay resort because it felt like we had our very own private beach and dock in our backyard! Bathroom & kitchen amenities were stocked and little special touches (dvds, bicycles, playing cards, etc) were included all around the home. PROs: - Location, location, location! 9A is in a semi-private location within the resort with gorgeous views! - Modern appliances - The screened porch is lovely (especially loved the mounted ceiling fan) - This resort is located within a small community (of lots of ex-pats). The people are warm and welcoming and offer great conversation! - Gated resort (24 hrs) CONs: - Check-in was confusing because we had trouble finding Tradewinds bar/restaurant upon arrival. We drove around the resort aimlessly until we stumbled on employees who directed us to where the bar was located. - Orchid Bay is truly off the beaten path and may be a bit difficult to find, even with directions! - Some eyes on the stove did not light. Not a big deal since there were only two of us but if we had a family, that may affect cooking time for meals. - Bees were a bit of an issue towards the back of the casita - If you drive a car while you're there, you cannot park near the casita. Parking near the casita is restricted to loading/unloading only and you must park in one of two designated parking areas (which is a bit of a walk from the casita).

    Sylvia2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Debi answered all my questions quickly with accurate responses. Upon arrival the casita was super clean and we were happy with the extra little things like cooler, camping chairs, blow up water floaties, washer dryer etc that made our stay even more enjoyable. Orchid bay was a great place if you dont like the all inclusive resorts, the rushes of people, loud partiers etc. The grounds were beautiful with maintained flowers and palm trees. The sand on the beach was great, paths for bike rides and paddleboards were not extra which I appreciated very much. Casita 9a is extra special being the farthest away it makes it even more secluded as no neighbour's on 3 sides. You also pretty much have your own beach and dock on that side too. The water is milky so if you want to snorkel you need to offsite. We took a boat tour. Immediatelywhen we left dolphins were jumping all around the boat. When we snorkled the reef we saw a nurse shark, sting Ray's, barracudas, turtles, crabs, lobsters and puffer fish amongst the obvious amazing fishies. Our guide was wonderful and I wasnt scared at all. Thanks Jeff and Debi!

  • Our stay at the Hummingbird House way amazing! Lucrecria was so welcoming and the house was everything we wanted. Very clean and very nice and quiet. Amazing view! The bikes were a huge plus to be included and not have to rent them.

    Rachel2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place!

    Nicholas2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect host! She even made sure that there were taxis there to pick us up from the water taxi when we got to caye caulker and when we left. She left a cell phone to use that had taxi driver numbers as well as bikes which came in handy! The location itself is very nice. The perfect place to stay if you're looking to be secluded but close to everything.

    John2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Luis and Lucrecia are the most gracious hosts I’ve ever met! From all their recommendations on what to do on the island to arranging taxis to/from the airport and more, they made sure our stay was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this listing to anyone visiting Caye Caulker, you’ll have an amazing time!

    Lili2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Can't wait to return to this beautiful place! The house was sparkling clean and the view was to die for. Lucrecia is full of local tips and she is very passionate about her island. We loved getting up early and riding our bikes to the split to watch the eagle rays jump out of the water. This my favorite Airbnb of all time!

    Jennifer2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! Great location- definitely a bit farther away from the Strip but that was nice to feel a little bit more secluded yet about a 10 minute bike ride away from the action. The private beach area was amazing for star gazing, the bikes were awesome (I’m not that good at bike riding but got the hang of them)!, the hammock on second floor balcony was relaxing and bed was comfortable. She sent tips for restaurants and things to before and throughout our stay. They were very sweet!

  • Great location! Close to a bunch of restaurants and beach access. Felt like within minutes we had our own private beach. Thanks Nicole!

  • Awesome

    Beth2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location within walking distance to town. We enjoyed the Bird’s Nest area the most even though there was a pool as well. Madison handled security for us chasing anyone away on land or sea that he didn’t approve of. Nicole also scheduled a sunset cruise for us with Captain Harry, a man of many talents. We plan on coming back as soon as we can. All the amenities listed were correct and functional. There was also complimentary Belizian coffee and water when we arrived. Nicole was nice enough to allow us to check in early since we were ahead of schedule leaving San Ignacio.

    Eric2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay. Very convenient. Short walk to restaurants and stores. Very clean with all necessary amenities. Nicole was a great host.

    Ami2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible place to stay. Great location with easy access to just about everything. Nicole is an amazing host who will help you plan your adventures and give you tips for having a good time. The apartments are clean, peaceful, and in a great spot on the lagoon.

    Ben2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole’s apartments were simply perfect. We enjoyed the canal water view from almost every window, we did yoga every morning on her second story waterfront palapa, and used the bikes daily for a quick 5 minute ride into town. Nicole is passionate about hosting and it shows. Book this apartment or one of her other 2, you can’t go wrong!

    Billy2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect Airbnb if you're looking for a quiet, comfortable, clean, relaxing space. The palapa hammock and pool are wonderful, and the inside area is spotless with a good shower, full kitchen, and comfortable bed. It's about a 20-minute walk to the Placencia pier so it's not in the middle of all the action, but bikes are available if you prefer that over walking. I would definitely stay here again!

    Lauren2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful place to stay!!! Nicole is a fabulous host who went above and beyond to make sure everything about our stay was easy, coordinated, relaxing, and took all the worry out of traveling to a foreign country. This place was perfect to relax at whenever we pleases. Loved the pool, lounge chairs, and kayak. Also, such a quick walk to everything in town!!! Best place to stay on the peninsula

Colinda Cabanas is located in a quiet serene area of the island. The edge of town is a short 5-minute stroll down the beach. Many guests take tours off-site and go snorkelling, fishing or kayaking. However many guests just love to hang out on our pier, read a good book, go swimming and enjoy the ambiance.
  • Great spot on the island. It’s quiet, safe, hot water, nicely maintained, lots of extras like bikes and beach towels. Juan was an exceptional host. As female travelers we felt very safe and at home. I checked out lots of places during my week down there and I would stay here again for sure. We stayed in #5 which was perfect as it wasn’t attached to other units. Take mosquito repellent- that’s the only minus of the whole island in my book.

    Rachel2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to relax on an amazing island this is the place! All you need in a cute cabin! Highly recommend!

    Natalie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! After walking past other places, it hands down has a better beach and dock area than the the other places. It was clean and had everything we needed. We even received fresh towels after the 2nd night which I wasn’t expecting. Hosts were very friendly and helpful with our questions. Would definitely stay here again.

    Sarah2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • These cabins were great, close to town but super quiet, right along the beach with a private dock and free bikes to use, it was awesome!

    Brian2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • My dad and I traveled to Caye Caulker for vacation and fishing. We had an absolute blast, and I will definitely be coming back to the island and staying at Colinda's again. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Juan highlighted the great places to visit on a map. We got around the island on bicycles, and Colinda's provided us two great bicycles with baskets that were very helpful when going to the store or running errands. The free access to kayaks, goggles, and floats was awesome. There are two hammocks in the water that are great to sit in during the day. There were hammocks and many chairs on the dock that were great for lounging during the day and enjoying the amazing views of the stars at night. While our cabana had no a/c, it was plenty cool enough to sleep every night, and I am someone who has the a/c around 65F when I'm at home. Everything was clean, and it was very quiet at night. We fished off the dock at night and caught some grunts. Our fishing charter picked us up right off the dock. The one day our tour was on the mainland, Juan was very helpful and scheduled us a golf cart to take us to the 6:30am water taxi. Everything was very convenient to the cabanas. We walked or bicycled a short distance to dinner every night. We had a really great experience at Colinda's, and there is so much more to do in Caye Caulker and Belize that I plan to come back soon and stay at Colinda's!

    Davis2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Colinda's Cabins are absolutely perfect. The cabin was so cute and it is right on the beach. I woke up for the sunrise and watched it from the hammock at the end of the dock (5 steps from my cabin!!) The bed was very comfy and the room had fans to keep us cool in the night The staff was lovely- they let us keep our luggage in the office until our room was ready. We loved that the cabin came with bikes so we could get into town quickly and go for coffee and to the split! The bikes worked great and came with a lock. I will be back!

    Hannah2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Colinda Cabanas! Emelita and Juan were very nice and helpful. The cabanas were a short walk to the rest of town, but we also enjoyed using the available bikes every now and then too! Our favorite part was the basically private dock — we spent most of our time either reading in the comfy hammocks overlooking the water or swimming in the shallow water.

    Mekhala2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great, relaxing place to stay. The bikes and kayaks were amazing to have, making getting around the island a snap. #5 felt like spending the night in a big treehouse. Wi-Fi was excellent as it was very fast, and I learned a new cable line was recently laid to the island. I had no problem connecting to a VPN for a few things I needed to get done. Thanks!

Birdhouses a very unique place in the sunset side of the island, in front of water. Very private and in contact with nature. Wonderful place for star gazing or bird watching, provides with wifi, cable tv, ac, king size bed, balcony with table, two chairs and a hammock. Safe, spacious and airy bathroom with hot water and a small but fully equipped kitchenette. Bicycles included! Steps to go up to the deck and steeper steps to go from the first floor to bedroom in the second to get more view!
Birdhouses is composed of three birdhouses! They are Hummingbird House in orange tones, Woodpecker House in blue tones and Pelican House and in purple tones! As part of Birdhouses there is a very private sigüal that can only be used by guests, when the tide is high one can fish from there! Only Birdhouses guests are allowed inside the premises!
  • A++ for Lucrecia's hosting skills. She arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport to take us to the water taxi, for a taxi in Caye Caulker to take us to the house and then a taxi when we left to take us back to the port and had many recommendations for activities and restaurants. The place was really cute and secluded so there was privacy. She provided bikes which were more than enough to be able to get wherever we wanted. Would absolutely come back!

    Jeremy2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Luis and Lucrecia's place was AMAZING. Not only is in a great location, but the bikes that were provided were critical to getting around the island. The amenities were great, apartment was very tidy, and Lucrecia went above and beyond to provide local tips and suggestions for dinner that are only known to locals. Highly recommend!

    Alyssa2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lucrecia was very friendly and helpful. She provided a lot of local tips and gave daily updates. Her place was really lovely. It has its own private beach. We love to just sit on the balcony and read. The two bicycles were very useful, too. We rode all around the island sightseeing. I would come back again.

    Lisa2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a magical stay with Louis and Lucrecia. The Birdhouses are set in a private and peaceful setting within a 10min walk of the island hassle and bustle center. It’s the perfect location if you want some tranquility, but also want to be within walking distance of the island's main streets to enjoy the restaurants and bars. (The free bicycles that come with your accommodation make everything even more accessible) The accommodation is perfect and has everything (Hammocks, sunsets, comfy beds, and ocean views) you need for a perfect island break Lucrecia is a fantastic host and her ever-friendly and helpful attitude made our stay that extra bit special. We highly recommend Louis and Lucrecia Birdhouses, Stew & Meg (Cape Town – South Africa)

    Stewart2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • I really liked staying & relaxing at Woodpeckers house! Lucrecia is a really nice and kind person who has a lot of useful tips to offer. The birdhouse I stayed in was just like on the picture, great atmosphere and very clean!I would definitely go there again! Thank you very much Lucrecia:)

    Nadja2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place itself was awesome. Above and beyond, Luis & Lucrecia helped us get our bearings extremely quickly. They arranged taxi from the airport and another golf cart taxi when we arrived on Caye Caulker from the water taxi. Great restaurant recommendations, use of two bikes for cruising around.

    Lucas2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks again Lucrecia and Luis! Birdhouses is fantastic and we couldn't have been happier during our 14 day stay in the Woodpecker house on Caye Caulker. The house proved to be a nice refuge from the hustle of the other side of the island where we could disappear and have time to ourselves. The house is a perfect size for 2 people and it's a fantastic story to hear on how Birdhouses came to be. The entire house is sparkling clean, nice large completely tiled bathroom and the bed was large and comfortable. The kitchen has everything needed to make breakfast and dinner, and with grocers and vendors literally everywhere, we used this as a way to save some money during our visit. The property is very private and safe and small lockbox is provided where we were able to stash passports, cash, etc. A phone was provided with the house which was a nice touch to have on us when we visited the mainland. Lucrecia and Luis are prompt in communication and are extremely helpful. They provided tips and places to visit on a daily basis. Bicycles are provided with the house and made the entire island and trail accessible in a matter of minutes. Our 2 weeks on Caye Caulker was such an amazing time and I owe it all to Lucrecia and Luis at Birdhouses for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing.

    Houston2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Birdhouses on Caye Caulker. Our hosts we very gracious and the property is a little slice of heaven that is beautiful and very well maintained. The house was an amazing piece of art and architecture, and hearing the story from Luis about how it came to be built was fascinating to us. The bed was super comfy and having the bikes available at no extra charge was a real bonus, since we used them as our primary transportation the entire time we were there. Potential guests should be aware that the stairs are quite steep so may be challenging for anyone with a mobility issue to navigate. Also, since the bed is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs, going up & down to use the restroom during the night is required. This was however only a minor inconvenience that we were able to work around, and it would certainly not stop us from returning for another stay at these beautiful and unique Birdhouses with truly warm and wonderful hosts.

  • Book Dora's suite!!!! Dora was born for showing the world how excellent guest service is done. Don't miss her food tour too! I recommend Dora's place to anyone who is lucky enough to find vacancy. The space is spotless, adorable with countless detailed and thoughtful touches. The location is within walking distance to everything in town, plus you are beachfront yet the covered porch and hammock allow those who want shade to have it throughout the day. Groceries, restaurants, hockey games at Lola's, pubs, the best excursions, ice cream, and the chocolate shop are all within half a block to 5 blocks away. I traveled on mynown and felt totally safe. Runners will love the beach heading south from the doorstep Dora's place. It is so picturesque. I also suggest running from Marbucks on the Northside, heading North on the beach past Akbol. The full kitchen is well equipped, and the coffee was excellent. Dora's Superhost status is 100% deserved!! Thanks, Dora!!

Our suites are in the best spot in San Pedro - walk to everything, on the beach, pier, pool, newly renovated! You can rent top or bottom condo (this is upper), or both, both are listed - each are 1 bed 1 bath with kitchen. Steps from Palapa Bar - right in the heart of all the fun! Our suites are incredible, spa-like, and very soothing. Our tropical, relaxing pool and pier are considered the best location, walk right out and enjoy your coffee on the pier on the Caribbean Sea!
We have the newest renovated suites in Paradise Villas, which is considered the best location in town! You can walk to several grocery stores on the street in the back, and walk right out our front gate to the sea, our pier, Palapa Bar, or steps from the best beachfront bars. You don't need to rent a golf cart or bike staying here, and while there are many beautiful resorts in town, many are a 15-60 minute golf cart ride to all the fun. You can walk right to the docks for your snorkeling excursions!
We are in Boca Del Rio - considered the heart of San Pedro, where all the best restaurants, bars, and beach fun are!
  • Completely agree with a lot of the other reviews. Great location!!! Very responsive to questions both before and during our stay.

  • The condo is in a quiet, relaxing community of condos but still in the heart of all there is to do. You simply have to walk outside the gate (or take your golf cart) to get to the beach, restaurants, bars, and all the companies offering everything from dinner cruises to snorkeling to off island adventures. The condo is small but clean, and has everything you need for a week of sun and fun. The pool was great for taking a cooling break. The hosts offer excellent advice on where to eat, activities, packing tips, getting to San Pedro, etc. Will definitely go back!

Grocery store was just a block away, along with great beach bars and restaurants. The place was clean and we felt safe at all times. The staff picked us up even with our early arrival and arranged a golf cart for us to be dropped off right away and picked up when we left. Any time I had a question, they were quick to respond. Amazing time and we will definitely return if we are in San Pedro again!

There are no other small places like this with a pool that are right in the heart of the village only feet from the sea. A gem. The view has recently opened up so you can see the sea from your bed! The sea breeze makes it too!
Caye Caulker is a quaint go slow Caribbean style island that time left behind in lots of ways. It started out as a fishing village, but once visitors discovered its shores, fishing is now not such an important part of the villagers way of life. In the last 10 years, tourism has seen this island bloom with lots of styles of accommodations, restaurants, bars, tours and more!
  • We loved Amanda’s Place. It really added to our vacation. The front porch and pool were nice and cool and just what we needed to escape from the heat anytime we wanted to.

  • Amanda's Place was terrific. Close to the main part of town but far enough away to not be noisy. We had one of the lower one bedroom units which was clean and spacious. The bathroom was very good with lots of space to put things. Amanda was terrific and helped arrange a taxi from the airport and she picked us up at the dock. The yard is very pretty and we sat out on the porch often. The pool was a very nice and a great way to cool off on a hot day. Highly recommend staying here.

  • Peter, Jenny, and family were fantastic hosts. When we arrived, their son helped us carry our luggage and Peter helped us spot some iguanas from our front porch. Jenny then came over and took us next door to their daughter’s cat sanctuary (Crazy Tails Cat Sanctuary). She has 31 cats on her property and they’re all incredibly sweet and well cared for! The house itself was a gem: clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Peter was also extraordinarily kind to us and gave us some binoculars for wildlife spotting, booked our tours for us, and did our laundry for us (and folded it!). This is definitely one of the coolest Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in and trust me, we’ve stayed in a lot. If you’re looking for a secluded place vibrant with wildlife just a hop skip away from downtown San Ignacio, this is the place for you!

  • Incredible hosts with an amazing space. Wish I could have stayed longer.

    David2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's place was fantastic, and we only wish we could have stayed longer! Peter was extremely responsive and helpful in answering all of our questions about the area and logistics before our trip. We were interested in booking a tour of ATM cave, and as Peter has a working relationship with Belize Caving, he was able to book us a tour directly- and it was amazing! His lists of local restaurants and activities was spot on (definitely hit up the fryjack shack just up the road)! We would absolutely stay with Peter again if we come back to San Ignacio.

    Melissa2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I spent two days at Sanpopo cottage after two days at Iguana Roost due to neither of the cabins being available the entire four days we spent in San Ignacio. Peter and his family made the transition seamless and were very accommodating toward getting Sanpopo cottage ready as quickly as possible and helping us move our stuff over. Sanpopo is a cute cozy cabin, good for a couple or close friends. The wrap-around deck was nice. Peter was very helpful in arranging a shuttle for us from and back to Belize City, as well as with booking activities. There is a short walk to town, less than a mile, but it was worth staying at a peaceful spot. It would also be easy to catch a taxi if you don't feel like taking a quick stroll town.

Onsite restaurant just 100 steps to the warm Caribbean water. PADI Dive Guide’s, complete concierge tour & reservation services. Impeccable grounds with beautiful flowers, trees and one of the nicest beach on the island. Reef just off shore to dive on. Wireless Internet!
Lots of windows and patio doors open to the large front porch over looking the pools and over the beautiful tropical grounds. DVD player, TV & Air Conditioning! The kitchen is well appointed with Stainless Steel appliances, Refrigerator, Range/Oven and microwave. It has everything you'll need (utensils, pots & pans, coffee maker, plates, glasses and silverware. Everything to prepare whatever you'd like. The bedroom is private with very comfortable queen bed, a big sliding door with a small sitting deck with views over the grounds, closet, dresser & it's own air conditioning. The living room has a comfortable queen futon for an additional bed. The bathroom has a pretty tiled walk in glass block shower, towel hangers and mirrored vanity. Laundry service is available.
Sapphire Beach Resort is approximately 9-10 North of San Pedro. Away from the crowds but easily accessible. The barrier reef is just a few hundred yards off the beach. Directly in front of Sapphire on the reef is the most amazing driving, snorkeling area. Like being in an aquarium. We now have a dive shop on out pier. Diving and excursions direct. As a matter of disclosure there is Phase 2 construction next to us but it is very low key with very little if any noise or commotion. Pretty much zero impact.
  • This is a great place to stay! Clean and comfortable! Very quiet. It is far away from a store, so bring your groceries if you wish to cook. The place is veryvwell taken care of, as are the surroundings!

  • The location and set-up of Craig's place in the Sapphire Beach Resort makes it an ideal vacation location. Comfortable, with air conditioning and a view of the pool... and only steps to the beach. Craig was quick to respond and put me in touch with the front desk for planning adventures during our stay. The staff at Sapphire Beach were fantastic and so hard working from morning to night. The grounds were immaculate and having paddle boards and chaise lounges on the beach made staying on-site even better. Our apartment was a nice size for our family of four with just about everything we needed for our stay. I'd highly recommend both this place and the Sapphire Beach resort.

    Sarah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The resort is great. The location is right on the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. The only recommendation is fishing poles were broken so we couldn't really fish. The food menu didn't change at all so very limited choices. But what we had was very good. Definitely rent a golf cart it is worth the money because this resort is about 40 minutes from downtown. Pools were really nice, staff was great and friendly. BRING OFF!!!!!!!! Mosquitos are vicious but they give you things to help but let me say it again BRING OFF!!!! BUG SPRAY is first item I would pack. We loved our stay and would definitely return!!! Thank you for being wonderful hosts and giving us a memorable experience!!!!

  • This was a great spot for a family getaway. We have 2 boys under 11 and they can't wait to go back.

    Jason2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hotel is very nice and quiet, the service is very good and the cleaning is excellent, the problem was that the plant was full of seaweed and could not be used and the hotel is very far from the center. If you are looking for tranquility it is ideal

    Galatea2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Went to Belize cause Southwest went there and we had points to burn. Here’s what we felt: Resort- very nice place, clean and the staff was great. The restaurant on site is a little pricey but the food was probably some of the best that we had on the island. The staff could not have helped us more. We had a broken down golf cart and they came and picked us up no problem. Snorkeling- it’s definitely possible to snorkel right from the resort, but you must take the kayak out there. The real reef is out where the waves break. There’s a spot to tie up the kayak out there, but you’ve got to find it. If you head north towards tranquility bay the reef moves in towards the coast, very swimmable. Other than that, the tour company on the resort is fantastic. Visiting Hol Chan and shark ray alley is something that is a must do. Remember a go pro! Getting around- You will absolutely want a golf cart. The road from San Pedro wasn’t as bad as the other reviews made it sound, but it’s definitely a 30-40 minute cart ride from San Pedro. Best Spots- secret beach is far and away the best “beach” experience. There’s restaurants and beautiful blue water everywhere. Sapphire’s beach is visually great, but the seaweed can be an issue at time(obviously nothing they can do, and they try their hardest to remove as much as possible). Other Important notes- strong bug spray is a necessity. There’s these bugs called no-see-um’s. We used maxi deet on our clothes, but there’s really nothing you can do for some of them. We heard Vick’s tends to work pretty well, and my girlfriend used oil on her legs. They do truly suck a lot, but it’s a reality of being basically in the jungle. Fishing can be pretty good off the docks. Snapper is everywhere, and the sardines tend to work pretty well. All the kayaks, fishing gear, etc, is available at the dive shop for free.

    Connor2019-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Craig’s place comes as advertised it is a great place for a couple to go to. Resort is spotless staff are amazing and the island has lots to do on it if you rent a golf cart. It would be my suggestion to check out secret Beach the town of San Pedro for a day and if you like a bit of an adventure take the cart on the path least travelled and head North till you can’t...you will find a great little resort with food and drinks awaiting...its about 2 hours each way. Also there is a scuba diving hostel along the journey that the British Govt sponsors...kinda cool very rustic. Anyway we really enjoyed it

    Blair2019-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • THIS PLACE IS GORGEOUS. You wake up and you’re in a mix of beautiful plant-life and amazing condos made to look like really cute tiki huts! The condo overlooks two pools and the tiki bar. Fantastic, clean & well worth the price. Would stay here again 100%.

This traditional Caribbean house is a perfect hangout for your holiday on Caye Caulker. It's located close to the famous Split and Front Street where all the action, swimming & lounging takes place, yet tucked away in a quiet corner. IMPORTANT: this cabana has A/C in the bedrooms but it's not included in the listing price. For 10 USD per night you can choose to use the A/C, payable upon arrival.
The Cozy Casa is a bit off the beaten track, but just a moment away from all the activity on the island. The rooms are painted in bright colors and are decorated with local art. There are 2 bedrooms: one with a queen size bed, the other with a double bed. In the living is a futon which can be folded out to a bed. It sleeps a maximum of 4 adults. When children are part of the group it sleeps 5. There are fans in every room and both bedrooms have A/C. The Airconditioning is not included in the listing price, but can be used for an extra 10 USD per night, to be decided and payable upon arrival. The hammocks under the house make for a great place to catch some afternoon sleep or a night cap. There is a fully equipped kitchen, though you might not need it that much: the house is located in the backyard of the famous outdoor restaurant 'Wish Willy Bar & Grill', run by my husband Maurice. The restaurant is open every night for dinner, sometimes for breakfast or lunch. One of our guests described the vicinity of the restaurant as follows: "We loved the lively restaurant activities below which we sometimes joined and sometimes simply soaked in while hanging out in the privacy of our upper deck". Close to the house is our dock: a perfect spot for a morning coffee, sunbathing or hang out with pelicans. This dock also provides front row seats for the most beautiful sunsets. Once you have enough of the diving, snorkeling, fishing, swimming or other activities on the island, you can entertain yourself with a small library, a selection of board- and card games, cable TV (Showtime, HBO and much more) and wireless Internet. Or just hang out on the veranda with a beer or rum punch. We have 3 very friendly dogs. At day time you'll find them in the yard and they love it when you pet them.
The house is just a moments walk to 'The Split' for an afternoon dip or to Front Street to get some food, meet some locals or just to hang out on one of the many docks lining the island. 'The Split' is where the island is split in two and it is the most popular spot for swimming, snorkeling or have a drink at the famous bar 'the Lazy Lizard'.
  • We had a wonderful time at Monique’s cabana. The check in was great, the photos we accurate. I loved sitting in the hammock on the veranda in the early mornings. There was a dog on the property that my son will always have fond memories of playing with. The private dock was an extra bonus and a beautiful place to catch sunset. The location was excellent and the food cooked by Monique’s husband at the on site resturant, Wish Willy’s can’t be beat.

  • Super little Rental! Very private and comfy beds!

    Lori2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place has a perfect location for exploring Caye Caulker and is on the premises of an amazing restaurant. Gumbo was one the highlights (Monique and Maurices youngest dog) he greeted us every morning while we were enjoying our coffee on the veranda.

    Hailey2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED the Cozy Casa! It is located close to everything exciting on Caye Caulker. The Split is right around the corner and it is a short walk to get to a free taxi to Koko King (as long as you spend $25bz pp on food or drinks). Wish Willy’s is a really fun experience and Maurice is a GREAT chef. The walk from the water taxi is quick and you will run into a lot of fun restaurants/bars and street vendors. We highly recommend getting lobster at Chef Kareem’s or a meal with key lime pie at Chef Juan’s (when not dining at Wish Willy’s, of course). We enjoyed the Lazy Lizard and the Sip ‘n Dip at the Split, but found them to be a little loud and pricy. We really loved the day we spent at Koko King and felt like the prices were reasonable. Plus you get the full beach experience you’d expect being on an island as well as plenty of free chairs and shade. Also we recommend doing a snorkel tour with Caveman. We did the full day tour, which included 8 stops and lunch! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, the Cozy Casa is a great value that is close to everything worth doing on Caye Caulker!

    Nick2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our "Cozy Casa" stay! It's a perfect little place to call home while you stay in Caye Caulker. Easy walking distance from both the ferry/ shuttle and the Split - but tucked away so you can really feel the quite peacefulness of the island. Plus there is an AMAZING private dock just a few steps away which is absolutely perfect for taking in the sunsets! Oh - and the beds were honestly the most comfortable beds we had all trip long!

    Janna2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoy your stay with Monique. The cabin is functional and comfortable, pleasant to live in for a stay. We can only recommend this accommodation on the island of Caye Caulker!

    Clémence2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Safe and groovy spot. You won’t be disappointed staying here. It’s really like the best location to be on the island.

    Donald2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING place! The space is clean and lovely, with lots of hammocks and porch chairs for relaxing. Monique is a wonderful host, and we loved eating at Wish Willy's downstairs. The location is super central and easy to access. The dock is the icing on the cake - what a wonderful place to watch the sunset!

River & jungle view in the heart of a little village in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge. 3.5 miles along a winding dirt road from San Ignacio. Private deck, & outdoor kitchen facilities. Lucky Dreamer Lodge is a non-smoking property. The bungalow is fully screened. The large deck has a hammock, dining table with four chairs and a loveseat - with room to spare! We are steps away from the Macal River and have a two-person kayak ready for your use (no additional charge).
The Banana Bungalow is a stand-alone cabin - lovingly built by hand, by us and some local friends & neighbors. It was initially meant to be a guest house for family & friends, but everyone said it was too special not to share with others! We also have a second bungalow on the property that sleeps 4 - the Belize Bungalow: https://airbnb.com/h/belize-bungalow-lucky-dreamer-lodge And if you are planning a 'surf & turf' vacation, we also have a one-bedroom condo on Ambergris Caye, 10 miles north of San Pedro..... where the jungle meets the surf! https://airbnb.com/h/lucky-dreamer-lodge-ambergris-caye-condo Banana Bungalow is made of local hardwoods and local pine from Mountain Pine Ridge. The casita is fully screened. There is a custom-made mahogany king bed and hardwood night stands. The covered deck overlooks the property with a peek at the Macal River and hills beyond. There are birds everywhere & of every kind! We had a birdwatcher recently identify over 60 bird species in a three week period! There is a separate outdoor kitchen/dining area for the use of our guests. It is a shared area with guests that book the Belize Bungalow. The kitchen is not inside the bungalow - as just boiling water would heat the entire room! Even our own kitchen is 'outside.' :-) The outdoor kitchen is a few steps away from the bungalow. We provide coffee beans, sugar, powered cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, season all, a variety of hot sauces, and many other condiments/cooking ingredients. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans, mixing bowls, dishes flatware, cups, etc. We also have items such as aluminum foil, plastic wrap, non-stick spray, cooking oil, etc. We also provide a 5 gallon jug of filtered water for the use of guests (which we replace as needed). We recommend bringing refillable/lidded bottles to take advantage of the water and to avoid buying bottled water while here. We also keep one gallon of water in the frig, and have ice packs and ice cubes available for guest use.
Our village is a beautiful place to live, mostly because of all the wonderful Belizeans that welcomed us with open arms! On any given day you'll see kids going door-to-door selling homemade goodies, or veggies from their gardens. The tortilla man delivers fresh tortillas twice a day (Sun-Fri) - for 95 cents U.S. a pound! There is a small convenience grocery store directly across the road from us. There you'll find just about everything you need for simple meals. Just a short walk down the road is "Faldy's" & “Sandals” two local restaurants that serve made to order local-style meals. A short walk up the road is a place to go horseback riding! About a mile down the road is a local spot called "The Showers" - a waterfall area, that very few tourists know about. And it's free!
  • Beautiful setting and amazing hosts.

    Katie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl & Jeff’s place is MAGIC. They are wonderful hosts and immediately did everything they could to help make our stay so comfortable. The casita itself was top of the line - clean, quiet, comfortable, and newly built. And their bathroom was easily the nicest we saw in all of Belize. The location was great - quiet and comfortable and just on the outskirts of Cristo Rey, the most charming village!! Wifi was great, kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved cooking outdoors, and having the dogs around to great us was icing on the cake. We would come back and stay again - for longer next time - I’m a heartbeat!! Thank you both for such a great experience!!

    Buffy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the peaceful time we spent at Banana Bungalow. We took the kayak up the river and visited some Mayan ruins and went cave tubing. Rick did a great job transporting us to and from Belize City. Thanks for setting that up for us!

    Dan2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing space and hosts! We took a tour out to Caracol with Rick and could not have asked for a more thoughtful or informative experience. Highly recommend!

    Katherine2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience with Cheryl and Jeff and our stay in the Banana Cabana was beyond expectation. The photos cannot begin to capture the magical feeling of this place. This was definitely our favorite place to stay in Belize. The cabana itself is beautifully constructed. The bed is extremely comfortable. The shower is just lovely. Sitting on the deck and watching for wildlife is a fabulous way to unwind. But probably the best part of staying in the cabana is waking up to the sounds of the jungle. We definitely enjoyed cooking in the open air kitchen. Everything was in perfect working order and well organized. And there were ripe banana from the property when we were there, which ruined us for store-bought bananas forever. If you have an opportunity to use the services of Rick as a tour guide, do so! He is a gem. Is knowledgeable and personable and will greatly enrich any adventure you choose to do. Thank you, Cheryl and Jeff, for opening up this gorgeous space to travelers.

    Dawn2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I spent two nights at Cheryl & Jeff's magical property. I wish we had booked more days here, as it was truly special. We loved the porch with the view of the jungle down to the river. The house itself was beautifully built, and you can tell they put a lot of heart, soul, and effort into the space. We enjoyed eating at Sandal's down the road for dinner, and it was great to have use of the bikes to make it a quick trip. The highlight of our time there was using the kayak to paddle in the river for an afternoon. We loved our stay!

    Jen2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Truly one of the best Airbnb experiences that me and my husband have ever had. Cheryl and Jeff are experienced and so knowledgeable about hospitality and the local area, so it’s a perfect combination. We rented a car which helped us get there and around the area. It is so perfectly located to all of the activities we wanted to do while we were in Belize, including the ATM cave, Caracol, San Ignacio Farmers Market, Mountain Pine Ridge Mountain Reserve, Big Rock Falls, Rio on Pools, and SO many more. However, getting there by bus is easily accessible as well. Plus small local grocery shops and restaurants are all in walking distance, so you don’t have to go far if you’re just looking for a jungle retreat. They have a wealth of knowledge of everything to do around the area, so do yourself a favour- stay here, pick their brains and you will not regret it. Thanks again Cheryl and Jeff!

  • Book here! Don’t wait because it may be gone. I am so thankful that we stayed here. It is exactly what you need in a vacation stay. Extremely clean and so many thoughtful touches like coffee, extra towels, bug spray, a hammock, and a cell phone that works locally with recommended cab drivers numbers stored in the contacts. It is about 10 minutes away from the middle of downtown and down a gravel road, but 100% worth it and very peaceful. Will definitely stay here the next time we are in San Ignacio!!

We are located A mere 15-20 minute walk to Cahal Pech Maya Ruins and the Iguana Sanctuary, the famous Xunantunichruins is less than 8 miles away ! There’s plenty to do and see in San Ignacio but the town is most popularly used as a base for exploring all of the local attractions including the Mayan ruins of Caracol, Xunantunich and Cahal Pech, the ATM Cave, Barton Creek Cave, the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, zip lining, and Tikal just over the border in neighbouring Guatemala. Originally a small village of logging camps and chicle farmers, San Ignacio and its twin town of Santa Elena have grown to become a thriving metropolitan area in the western part of the country. Close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tikal just over the border in Guatemala as well as several of Belize’s most prominent Mayan ruins, San Ignacio is a popular tourist destination. San Ignacio is one of Belize’s most diverse urban areas, with Mestizos, Creoles, Lebanese, Mennonite and Chinese indigenous populations calling the area home. San Ignacio is the de facto capital of the western Cayo District. Along with its twin town Santa Elena, San Ignacio is built on the banks of the Macal River and form the second-largest municipal district in the country after Belize City.
  • Hands down our best AirBnb experience to date. My husband and I spent 5 nights at Peter’s place in San Ignacio. The hospitality he and his family offered was over and above anything we’ve ever experienced. They helped us arrange 3 tours with their preferred tour company and gave us lots of pointers on things to do around town. Hummingbird rest is the perfect spot for anyone who wants to spend time in nature. We loved all the birds that came to the feeders and seeing the iguanas that visited the property. The place is a quick walk from the grocery store and a 20 minute walk to downtown. Would absolutely stay again and would recommend to anyone to asks.

    Jessica2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful place to stay in a beautiful jungle setting! We really enjoyed the house and sitting on the porch. There was so much to do around San Ignacio--Cal Pech, the Raptor Center, the Iguana Center, and then the Tikal and ATM tours (don not miss these!!) as well as lots of places to eat. Peter and family were always available to help or answer questions and set up tours. Couldn't have asked for a better place!

  • Peters place is a really good place to stay. Our cabin was really nice and rustic and had everything you could need to be comfortable. The outdoor area is very beautiful and the plants all around the property are stunning. We saw several humming birds every day. They have a very friendly dog named Tootsie who is so nice- I wish she could have come home with me. Peter and his family are really good hosts. They are around if you need them or have questions but give you your space and privacy as well. Within the cabin is a guide with many good restaurant recommendations and fun things to do in the area. I found this very helpful and often referred to it. We booked our ATM tour through Peter and the company he suggested was very good. All in all I highly recommend this accommodation!

  • We loved our stay. It was a bit hot the first night, but Peter was accommodating with a floor fan. They were quick to respond and helped us with all of our requests. They even arranged our transfers at a better price. We enjoyed the private and rustic feel of the accommodation. Highly recommended!

  • Everything was exactly matched with what it was described. Before our trip, Peter (host) was very helpful with pick up service from the airport and other information I needed to plan beforehand. Peter also gave us a lot of tips during our stay with daily tours. Our cabin was beautifully decorated and we really enjoyed the garden. They even had a garden map to follow!!! To go to downtown it was really only 15-20 min walk. We would take a cab, paid $5 bzd to have dinner in downtown and had to walk it off to go back cause all the meals were delicious and ended up eating too much. Jenny(hostess) let us pick a couple of all spice leaves and I made tea which was delicious. They also had cat sanctuary who ran by their daughter in the back( crazytailscatsanctuary.com). There were about 36 cats to check out if you are a cat lover. We also enjoyed Fryjacks from the vendor right around the corner for breakfast( $2.50 bzd!!!). FYI...If you happen to be San Ignacio on Saturday morning, check out farmers market. It was truly amazing.

Centrally located in Belize City's nicest residential neighborhood, this apartment is minutes away from two beautiful public parks, restaurants and bars. Make this apartment your headquarters as you explore the extremities of Belize or as you conduct business in this wonderful country.
This apartment is one of the few located in the nicest neighborhood in the city. Business friendly, it can also accommodate families who want to spend an extended stay in Belize. A public stadium, parks, restaurants and bars and close by. The apartment is also 5 minutes away from the Sir Barry Bowen Municipal Airport.
    Safe, high-end neighborhood.
  • Delightful and clean...airy and spacy. We were very comfortable. Loved the welcome and thoughtful touches. 😊

  • A very nice Airbnb in a good neighberhood. Everything was close to reach. Would go there again.

  • This neighborhood is pretty quiet. The coffee shop/bakery across the street makes life very convenient, and their goods are extremely high quality. The owners are really nice. It’s a short walk to princess street, where you can make your way anywhere, and M&D’s food booth in Digi Park is an outstanding little place serving local fare. Super easy check-in; the hosts are very responsive!

  • Future travelers can expect more than what the pictures tell you. The space provided is truly one of a kind and amazing both in looks and location. 10 out of 10 recommend!

    Tristan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this space!! Location is great and the listing is true to the space. Communication was easy with Monica and Felipe. Location is very central and close to everything from shops, groceries, the water etc. Only thing important to note is that you can sometimes hear the noise from outside. We were not at all bothered by this as the location and amenities trump that, but I know it is important for some people. Would not hesitate in booking here again when we come back to Belize :)

    Cara2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Monica and Felipe’s place. It was in the perfect location... literally right on the beach and just around the corner from everything San Pedro has to offer. The apartment was well appointed, comfortable, and stylishly decorated. There is a cute little porch overlooking the water with a hammock and table & chairs. Lilly’s treasure chest is right next door with delicious ceviche. We slept well... even though you’re in the middle of town, it’s still quiet at night. Felipe connected us with a golf cart for a day at a great price and we enjoyed adventuring around the island. We would highly recommend Monica and Felipe’s place!

    Maia2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

  • This was one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve used it all over the world. My boyfriend and I spent 5 days in this apartment, the location is incredible, the space is beautiful, and Felipe literally made us feel like family. The tips they provided for the island are perfect and the deal Felipe gave us on the golf cart was a life saver. Definitely recommend this spot, and I hope we’ll be back to stay in it again.

    Georgi2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great spot! It’s right next to where the water taxi arrives. Monica and Felipe were very accommodating with my last minute booking! I messaged them at 11pm the night before and they were able to make it happen. Also, I work while traveling and the place had great wifi to stream video calling for 2 1/2 hours without interruption. I highly recommend it!

    Megan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The location is great- ocean view and in the middle of everything. It can be a bit noisy at times but that’s a small price for the great location. The place was clean and comfortable. The hots communicated well and were helpful. Thanks!

Spending the night under a 100 foot guanacaste tree in a tree house is like nothing else! Parrot Nest Lodge's treehouses are truly unique tropical experiences. We are ranked as the #1 jungle lodge in Belize by the Travel Channel, and as of 1-Feb-19, we're now the #1 SI B&B on TA. Treehouse 1 has a double bed, a fan, 110w plugs(electricity 24/7), and multiple shared bathrooms(with hot water) that are located just down the stairs.
The Nest is in Bullet Tree Falls, and while just over 3 miles from downtown SI, it feels like a different world since we have a 100+ foot canopy. The mighty Mopan River runs through the yard; in fact, it's on 3 sides of us since we're on a private peninsula. The collectivo taxis are $1us per person, one way, from Bullet Tree to San Ignacio, run all day, and drop you off, and pick you up, in the center of downtown. We have a kitchen, and provide dinner(entree, salad, veggies, starch, and dessert) for $12.50u, and breakfast(eggs, toast, fruit, GOOD coffee, juice) for $7.00u. We cook for all diets, and are now more famous for our food than having treehouses. We usually hang out, and eat with guests so we can exchange travel stories(and life lessons, lol). The only added expense on the cabins is the government required BTB room tax of 9%, although airb hasn't yet started collecting it automatically(soon). We absorb the sales tax, so do NOT charge the 12.5%, nor the 15% service tax. What else: Wifi, free tubes(for the free river excursions), river front access. Will gladly take you to town if we're heading in for a supply run. We have local beers($2.50u) and sodas($1.25u) in the common area fridge. We have free water and tea, and encourage everyone to stay hydrated in the tropics. We love animals, and have 2 rescue cats and 3 rescue dogs that will adopt you, haha!
The Mopan river, and free tubing.
  • This is terrific place, clean and a great location. The Hostess and staff were wonderful. Great cook.

  • Parrot nest was great! It is in a really cool location, you feel like you’re in the thick of the the jungle, surrounded by wild life. Our hosts were so hospitable and kind. The food was great and the dogs were so so cute!!

    Ariel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • So much fun to stay at Parrot’s nest. Wonderful hosts, easy to get to/from San Ignacio, clean facilities, awesome healthy food. Highly recommend!

    Laura2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful atmosphere and location. My brother and I stayed in the tree house cabins and had a great time, enjoyed the wonderful food and kayaking up the river. Beware there is a bar across the river and though distant, noise does carry on the water. If you're easily disturbed you mightn't enjoy it as much as I did, but the hours of night/day that mattered most were serene and filled with only jungle noises.

    Logan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem in the jungle full of wildlife and great people. The hosts are very accommodating and prepare great meals for travelers! Would definitely return and recommend.

    Chana2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Parrot’s Nest was the coolest place we stayed on our travels through Guatemala & Belize. So many added touches to make you feel comfortable and at home in this luscious jungle paradise. Loved the area, the sounds and the people we met at resort. Definitely a must stay!!

    Kerri-Ann2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and a good base for exploring the Cayo region. Theo recommended tour providers and car hire companies which were both brilliant. The food was amazing! Thank you for everything :-)

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely stay with Theo and Marcus! Parrot Nest is perfect to get a little taste of living in the jungle, while having all the amenities you need. Can’t say enough about how impressive the hospitality was—Theo was especially helpful with area/restaurant recommendations, and throughout the rest of Belize as well. There was a great common area to meet other travellers, and the treehouse we stayed in was basic but clean and it was great to wake up to the sounds of the jungle. There was a bar across the river with music you could hear if you went to bed early but fans were provided for white noise, and the music was off around 11pm. Overall, a perfect stay and it was tough to leave!

Stay at the newest adults-only, boutique cabanas in Ambergris Caye! PUR Boutique Cabanas offers a modern yet vintage, rustic-luxury experience, with a Taco Bar & swim up pool bar, in the BEST neighborhood in Ambergris Caye - Tres Cocos, a mile north of the bridge. We offer amenities of a boutique hotel including complimentary airport or water taxi pick up (one round trip), complimentary coffee and water, bathrobes, beach towels, on site concierge, complimentary bikes, welcome drink, & more!
We are a brand new, boutique hotel, just opened by the same owners of the 2017 Small Hotel of the Year - Caribbean Beach Cabanas, in Placencia. PUR Boutique Cabanas is in the heart of Tres Cocos (the neighborhood north of the bridge with all the best bars!), so convenient to get everywhere, with food and a bar right on site. You can't find a better, safer, more tranquil, picturesque part of town; we are in what is considered the most ideal location on the island, in the trendiest and hottest neighborhood! Our boutique cabanas are the best experience you will find throughout the island. Very few vacation destinations offer boutique cabana-style accommodations, and it is something that every traveler should experience! This is a studio-style hotel room - and ours have the highest caliber finishes, and a touch of glamour, that blends seamlessly with a rustic-luxury experience. Our atmosphere is fresh, hip, energetic - you'll feel in the center of it all! Our on-site bar keeps the energy going all day long, or you can relax at the pool area, in your hammock, or with a walk on the beach - 100 feet away - there is a tranquil path leading you to the shore. You can see in our pictures the entrance to the beach from the back of our boutique hotel. We are located in the BEST location on the island..."Tres Cocos" is the top-rated, trendy neighborhood on the island, with the top-rated restauarants and bars, steps away. We are less than a mile from the heart of "Boca Del Rio" - this is a must-do during your vacation. Boca Del Rio is the very busy, gritty, heart of town - and a lot of fun. Our guests enjoy hanging there during the day, and coming home to the peace, beauty, and tranquility you will only find north of the bridge.
If it is your first time on the island (the 2013 & 2014 #1 island in the world!) - please note - the water in San Pedro is some of the prettiest water in the world, with perfect white sand, but because it is an island, the shore takes a beating from the sea, and much of the beachfront is seawalled. Because we are close to the reef, there can be seagrass that washes in. However - the swimmable beaches we have - are gorgeous. All beaches in Belize are public, so you are welcome to walk freely on all the beachfront. Although many resorts are located on the beach, there are only a few spots people actually swim in the sea. Here are the popular spots to swim: --You can walk right to the shore, steps away, from PUR, and walk the beautiful, picturesque beach front --You can swim off the docks at Tiki Maya, just minutes walk away, head north on the beach --We recommend swinging over the water and playing in the sea at Dive Bar, just down the road, south --Head to Boca Del Rio to Sandy Toes to sit on the shore, or Palapa Bar to swim in the tubes on the sea --For a full beach day experience - especially if there is sea grass on the Caribbean side - we highly recommend going to Secret Beach for a day - because this is technically the "lagoon side" there will be no grass here, and this is a very fun day trip. You can walk out in the waist-deep water as far as you can see, and it is an incredible experience! We are conveniently located between the heart of town and Secret Beach. We are one of the best spots because you can get to Secret Beach, heart of town, but be centered in the heart of it all!
  • LOVE PUR! It exceeded expectations and we will definitely be back! We went to Yoga down the road which is now my favorite yoga studio. :) It was a bit rainy in the evening while we were there so we ended up eating dinner almost every night at the Taco Bar. My boyfriend is a Chef...and therefore a pretty intense food critique and he loved all of it! It was top notch! :) Nelson was the best bartender and gave great local advice about the Island. It was nice that he was the one to say goodbye and give us the ride to the airport too! Thank you to ALL the PUR staff for your amazing hospitality!!

    Kate2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Pur boutique. My husband and I stayed one night. They arranged for pick up from the airport. Josh greeted us with a cold cloth for the dust driving through town...and a cold water!😊The room was exactly as shown on the website. The bed was very comfortable. The only complaint I have was the water pressure from the shower. Happy hour was great! Highly recommend the margaritas they were so delicious. The location was exactly what we wanted.. away from all the loud noise, but close enough we didn’t feel to far away. We rented bikes and toured around town we felt safe entire time. The location is not on the beach. The beach is walk away. We did not swim at the location. Check out ran smoothly. They even offered us a free ride to our next destination which was 35 mins away. We would stay at Pur Boutquie cabana again!

    Courtney2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • PUR is top notch. Great staff, facility, location, and amenities. Cabanas are perfect for a couple. We had the best time and will be back.

    Kelly2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful small boutique hotel. Love that it’s adults only, private and quiet area. The staff was amazing: Ian, Javier, Flore and everyone else made us feel welcomed. Highly recommend. Phim

    Phim2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great, private cabana with swim up bar located just minutes away from the bustle of downtown San Pedro. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful, both with on-property requests and island information in general. With only six Cabanas in property, you truly feel like the place is all yours! Will stay here again the next time we visit San Pedro ... can’t give a better recommendation than that. Thanks for a great stay.

    Trey2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • PUR is a great place to stay. The staff is overly accommodating and friendly. We stayed here for 3 nights out of a 6 night stay and wish we had stayed here all 6 nights. We even came back by for breakfast a couple of days after checking out. The location is great because you are a short bike ride or cart ride to the heart of the city but there are plenty of other bars and restaurants close as well. I would highly recommend PUR.

    Dan2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Pur was a wonderful stay. As we arrived our unit had its air conditioner break. We were at first disappointed but they more than made up for it, having given us a golf cart for the 2 day stay, putting us up in a sister hotel for the one night, and taking care of a couple meals. We still were able to use the facility and we appreciated the communication even if we only stayed there the second night. The second night was great! The swim up bar is awesome, low key, but great spot to have a drink and head out for the day, and return for a very comfortable nights sleep. Gotta get the Bloody Mary’s! The staff was great and we would stay here again.

    Chad2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • PUR was awesome! The food is excellent, the staff is extremely nice/fun/helpful, and the complimentary bikes made it really easy to get to San Pedro’s downtown area. Ian arranged all of our excursion stuff and made it so easy. We were celebrating my birthday, and upon our arrival the bed was decorated with towels in the shape of a cake and elephant with tropical flowers all around them, and “Happy 30th Birthday Ms. Maxwelle” spelled out in some kind of grass. Very cute and much appreciated! Something to note: a swimmable beach is about a 30 minute golf cart ride away. The beach steps away from the hotel isn’t recommended for swimming because of all the sea grass/ seaweed. The trade off is that the swimmable beach isn’t nearly as close to the downtown area. For us this was preferable because we went on different excursions and enjoyed the downtown scene, and for the days we just wanted to post up and swim at the beach it was no problem getting there in a golf cart. Overall I highly recommend PUR and would definitely come back again!

  • Wow michelle and Scott are great hosts. The pool side is beyond any resort. We had a whirlwind tour of Belize and spending our last night here was so relaxing we did not want to leave. It’s a great launching point for the start or finish to any trip. We will be back.

    Jeff2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute space! The place is spacious, and the pool is awesome. Loved the location: it's a great central spot for seeing all of Belize. Michelle and Scott's hospitality was above and beyond!

    Kristen2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Scott ARE THE BEST! Top notch hosts, everything from the free airport shuttle to the great hospitality to hanging by the beautiful pool. We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone!! Thanks again, y’all rock!! :)

    Emily2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Scott made the end of our trip in Belize a great one. The bungalow is super comfy with a nice kitchen to whip up some breakfast before our flight. They are a bit off the beaten path, but super close to the airport (thanks to the courtesy ride by Scott). However, they make it easy to have access to things by offering to stock the fridge beforehand for a small fee or share a vehicle.

    Blake2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Gecko is a very close ride from the BZE international airport, making it a perfect spot for travelers. Mayan Ruins such as the Lamanai boat launch and Altun Ha are less than an hour away. The islands are easily accessible via water taxi too. The stay was great with strong A/C, a gorgeous backyard pool, and little noise. The hosts were so helpful and the two dogs were a delight. I highly recommend.

    Austin2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I loved Michelle’s place! So incredibly convenient from airport, amazing design and every touch thought of! I was sitting in the pool on a floaty, sipping coffee and suntanning while watching Netflix before going to airport! Who can say that about an Airbnb?!

    Caroline2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Scott are both top notch people; thoughtful, giving, helpful and GO BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY. We were travelling as two women from Canada and we felt safe, comfortable and pampered. Michelle even offered to pick up snacks for us on the way to the airport to get us! We highly recommend their place as you will get more than you ever imagined.

  • We loved staying here for three nights. The cabana was in a really great quiet area of Caye Caulker with only the occasional noise of small aeroplanes from the tiny airport nearby. The cabana is fairly close to other properties and the swimming pool small and shared but it still feels very private and shaded. The cabana is spacious, very clean and bikes on site definitely worth hiring. We took breakfast nearby at Gourmet Suggestion- lovely fresh bread. Service erratic! Booking and pick up were great and don’t forget access to the a dock space nearby to access the sea.

  • You will be happy you chose this AirBNB. We rented bikes for the week and loved coming back to the peace of the house. My husband fished all week off the dock and caught snappers that we took to the vendors grilling on the main strip to grill for us. We loved the little trail to the south and it was fun watching the airplanes come and go at the airport. All the staff under Michael (and Michael) were professional, friendly and so helpful. We would definitely recommend Debbie’s place if you are staying on the island.

  • This cabana was wonderful. The pool and dock were such amazing features that many other places do not have. So nice to have kitchen, laundry, AC... felt very luxurious and comfortable.

  • We had a lovely time staying here! It’s a 10-15 minute bike ride from the main part of town which was nice to get away from. The apartment comes with dock access to lay by the water and a pool which was lovely. The host was very accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again!

  • Can't say enough about what a great place this was to stay. Very quiet even with being close to airport. Office staff Ceci and Starle went out of their way to meet our needs. Definitely rent bikes but there are a few great places to eat close by. About 2 miles from cottage to Split but plenty of great shops and places to eat within a mile. For a great sunset eat at Maggie's Sunset Kitchen with yummy seafood on the grill. We also used the bbq grill outside and got some good steaks at local meat shop. You can also go to docks in late afternoon and sometimes find fresh lobster and snapper to put on the grill! Thanks Axel for that tip. We would suggest taking the ferry to and from mainland. Very comfortable and short taxi ride to airport in Belize City. Shuttle plane expensive and we found out may not have room for all bags or you pay even more. All in all it was a great experience and the people on Caye Caulker are wonderful. Hope I can return soon. I would go right back to one of Debbie's cottages. Post card perfect!

  • Beautiful location, great views, amazing locals. Can't wait to come back and relax in the pool. Super quick walk to the main strip of restaurants and bars. The room has a binder with helpful tips for the island.

    Zach2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The seahorse cabana was very comfortable and provided access to a beautiful dock and pool. We were able to rent bikes and access everything caye caulker easily. It was quiet and relaxing. The cabana is surrounded by beautiful plants but keep in mind - that also means bugs! They are small but mighty! Our bug spray didn’t quite stand up. Aside from that, zero complaints! Really enjoyed our stay and would return without question. Highly recommended for a quiet, private hideaway to enjoy relaxing caye caulker.

    Lauren2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super spacious and clean accommodation! The air conditioning works perfectly. The washing machine is a real plus! I was afraid of the airfield next door, it is frankly not disturbing. The pool is perfect, we have often been alone in it. I highly recommend!

In park-like surroundings this cottage feels remote but close to downtown as well as Mayan history, an idyllic retreat
This delightful wooden cottage has two bedrooms, each with a super comfy bed and it's own Wind Machine , your private bathroom has a hot & cold shower and don't forget you also have a fully equipped kitchen featuring a teak worktop harvested from our own 75 yr old teak tree, and a delightful covered porch perfect for watching the iguana's, birds, squirrels and other visitors that frequent the gardens. Like all of the units on the property it is strategically situated to offer maximum privacy. Iguana Roost enjoys a lot of shade from the Mango And Mexican Almond tree that are close by, a treat when the mango's are in season, as they will hang over the path just waiting to be picked ! Your cabin has free Wi-Fi, unlimited Crystal Pure Ultra Filtered drinking and of course you are Conveniently Located Just a 15 minute walk from San Ignacio Town Centre and the Famous Burns Avenue If It's Maya Ruins Your After, Cahal Pech Is A Twenty Minute Walk Away (or if you prefer a taxi it's only BZ$5 to town, or the ruins) Please note our prices are INCLUSIVE of tourism and business tax, many places will ask you for this as an extra when you check in ! So what makes Iguana Roost special (or any of our other 3 cottages, Hummingbird Rest, Sanpopo and Compass Cottage) ? Is it the setting – over a acre of sub tropical gardens, once described a council official as a 'jungle in town', the vast number of butterflies, birds and iguana's that visit the garden or maybe because we have our own Cat Sanctuary ? The location – Out of town, but close enough to walk (or a US$2.50 cab ride), under a mile to Cahal Pech Mayan Ruins, less than 8 miles to Xunantunich Mayan Ruins, The ATM caves and Mountain Pine Ridge are less than 30 miles away, and close enough to Guatemala for a day trip to Tikal. The accommodation – private and fully equipped, so should you want to cook yourself and dine 'al fresco' on your decking / balcony everything you need is right there. The complimentary cookies, nuts, coffee and tea waiting when you check in, or the fact they we supply more and better quality towels than most Airbnb's , hotels and resorts, or just the simple things like unlimited purified drinking water (even though our tap water in safe to drink), complimentary ear plugs – nature can sometimes be noisy, as you will discover with the parrot's visit at 5am Your hosts – always there to meet and greet you when you arrive, carry your luggage and show you around your accommodation (no finding a key hidden somewhere, or waiting for the hosts to turn up), a family member is always on site, so should you have any questions (places to visit, tour bookings etc.) we are available and there to help, the property is never left unattended so if security is your thing, your covered Peace Of Mind – we are registered with the Belize Tourist Board, although it is a legal requirement more than 50% of Belize's Airbnb's are not registered, being registered means, amongst many other things we have been inspected by various parties and the accommodation itself meets a certain standard, which includes fire safety checks, building inspections (electrical, gas, plumbing etc.) That the premises has public liability insurance, and of course being registered means we are paying the appropriate taxes (which benefits the people of Belize - we do not hide from our responsibilities) Or simply the fact that there are over 600 very positive reviews on Airbnb alone (many more on other platforms) There is a reason why people say it's the best Airbnb they have stayed in – Read The Reviews
Iguana Roost is within walking distance of town, or a quick hop on one of the many taxi's that pass right by the entrance, it is unique due to it's setting, the abundance of tree's and wildlife soon whisk you away to another world, and it will feel like you are living in the jungle, but close enough for you to enjoy the facilities of the town, but away from the hustle & bustle to allow you to get back in touch with nature. A mere 15-20 minute walk to Cahal Pech Maya Ruins and the Iguana Sanctuary and the famous Xunantunich is less than 8 miles away ! The Cayo district with it's countryside, hills, farms, streams and forest, is an area rich in outdoor activities and sites offering experiences such as - Maya Ruins, Iguana Sanctuary, Botanical Gardens, Butterfly Gardens, Horse Back Riding Tours, Macal River, Black Rock Lodge, Big Rock Falls, Rio Frio Caves, River For Swimming, Tubing or canoeing, Jungle Activities Including Zip Lining and all of this still less than two hours from the fantastic Caribbean Beach
  • Iguana Roost is a sweet little cabin, surrounded by trees and lush greenery, hummingbirds and iguanas (the occasional 'thud' when they fall!). An easy walk into San Ignacio (or a *cheap* taxi, $5 BZE), but we were just as content to spend half a day drinking coffee on the screened porch, watching the wildlife (including my sweetheart, Tootsie the dog!). Not our first stay with the Gair family, certainly not our last!

  • Absolutely amazing place to stay! Peter and his family could not have done more for us both before during our stay. Great local knowledge and trip advice. The setting was just amazing and Peter really made the most of this by showing us the local wildlife around the home. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

    Emma2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cute lil cabin tucked away on a private property. It is in close proximity to the other Airbnb listings but still felt secluded. Peter and his family were all responsive and helpful, they lent us towels for swimming and their guidebook was full of recommendations for food and activities. They also provided earplugs which were very helpful at night, with rain and insect and bird noises (if you’re not used to those) and also potentially loud neighbors. The property is a 5-minute taxi ride into town; we never had trouble catching a taxi from the road out front and it costs $2-3USD per trip! Super convenient!

    Karel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this unique little Airbnb. Peter and Jenny were incredibly helpful and hospitable. This was our first time in Belize, so Peter and Jenny were able to offer local tips, ideas, and insights, which helped to acclimatize us to the unique area of San Ignacio. Because Peter and Jenny know most of the people involved in the tourism industry in San Ignacio, they could make suggestions which made us feel at ease. There are beautiful fruit trees and plants throughout the property which were identified by Peter and Jenny and also through their "welcome" binder. The iguanas were impressive, the wake-up call of the birds were a wonder, and the fabulous pets on the property made us feel right at home. We stayed for a week here, and were able to walk easily to most places in San Ignacio including the market, local restaurants, grocery stores, and some local tourist sites, including Cahal Peche. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Time went too fast and we hope to be back again!!! :)

  • This place! ❤ It was hard to leave because I was so comfortable and at home here. Peter & Jenny greeted me when I arrived, with a warm & friendly welcome! They & their children put a lot of love into their property & cottages. The gardens are beautiful and such a peaceful sanctuary. The pets made it extra special, along with the onsite cat rescue sanctuary run by their daughter. The family lives on site, which was reassuring for myself, traveling solo; I felt very safe. The cottage was immaculate and had extra sweet touches such as coffee, creamer, biscuits & ice water. The location is convenient for exploring the San Ignacio area and taxi rides are easily accessible and affordable. Jenny provided me with some fantastic suggestions for fun activities and there is a binder full of more suggestions. My only complaint is that I didn't stay longer than 3 nights. I highly recommend this place and rate the hosts and their accommodations with a glowing 10 star review!

    Christie2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is nice and clean. The location is great for day adventures to the Mayan sites of Caracol and Tikal.

  • My husband and I had a fantastic stay at Peter & Jenny’s place. It is jungle comfort - you feel like you are amid the trees and nature, but you have modern amenities as well as being close to town. The kitchen was very well equipped. We loved the porch and outdoor sitting area. We saw SO many hummingbirds. There was nighttime noise - it’s expected in a small Central American town and there are many dogs barking, animal sounds, etc - but earplugs were even provided! This is an amenity I have never had before, five stars to the hosts for this thoughtful gesture. Definitely would have loved to stay here longer, a week would be nice. We found the walk to town to be rather easy and there are several supermarkets very close by. We didn’t take taxis, but we do enjoy walking. Finally, we had lovely hospitality. Peter helped us book an amazing tour through a great company, loaned us towels for swimming, and Jenny showed us where the iguanas hang out up in the trees! Highly recommend this spot for all sorts of travelers.

  • Peter and his family were very hospitable and helped arrange transportation and activities for my friend and I when we stayed in San Ignacio. We stayed at Iguana Roost as well as the Sanpopo cottage. Peter was easy to get in contact with. When we arrived, Peter and his family met us at the driveway and carried our bags to our cabin. There was a binder in the cabin with a lot of helpful information on the area. The recommendations we selected were superb. The guides and shuttle drivers Peter set us up with were excellent. As stated, there is a little walk to get to town, less than 1.5 km.

  • We had our wedding party stay at this house and was the location for our wedding as well. The villa easily accommodated our group of 14-18 and everyone loved the home and all the amenities it has to offer. Cora and the owner pat were extremely responsive and helpful. Cora answered all questions we had and even took us grocery shopping. The sand dredging operation and construction next to the house is active as of December 2019. Pat went above and beyond and ensured that the construction and dredging operation were completely shut down the day of our wedding and even paid for bartenders at our wedding as a token of good faith. The dredging operation did not bother us so long as we had our outdoor speaker playing, which wasn’t an issue as we spent all day every day enjoying the beautiful beach and Infiniti pool. Regardless of the occasion Villa Mandevilla will be the perfect location for any large group.

  • I scheduled a trip for 12 of my friends and I for a week at this wonderful house, and we all cheered as we pulled up the first night. It was glowing and stunning and perfect. Everything is as advertised and you should expect the best from this house, but most importantly from Johnny and Cora, your contacts down there, who are awesome to work with and made the trip more memorable than I could have imagined. 5 stars 10/10 Spectacular all around!

    Adam2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed at this house as a family of 12. I can’t say enough how great the house was and how easy it was to make accommodations with the help of Johnny and Cora. From airport taxis and golf carts to excursions and house questions, they helped with everything. The house is large and the 12 of us had more than enough room. No one ever felt cramped or that they didn’t have their own space. If we were to ever come back as a group, we would definitely stay here again.

    Sophie2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was large enough to handle our family of 15. Pool was nice. The cook was excellent. Only downside was that the air conditioning in the living areas was not very effective.

    Jarrel2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfect for a large group. With 6 bedrooms and 5 full baths, our family of twelve enjoyed some privacy as well as shared spaces that could accommodate us all. Do not expect a pristine swimming beach - but be aware that this will be the case almost anywhere on the island. We put the kayaks and paddle boards to good use. The ride to town is 20 minutes, but we had fun with the golf carts. Be sure to engage Johnny for some snorkeling and/or fishing.

    Linda2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful fun time. The home is so Spacious 18 of us had plenty of space to be together and a private space too. Great hosts help you in every way. Go to Secret Beach.

    Yolanda2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Remote location but anything you could possibly ask for is accessible. About 20-25 minute golf cart ride into town.

    Melissa2019-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great for our 7. We all had a bedroom and our own bathroom which was awesome. Was nice to have a chef cook two meals each day if we wanted. We had lots of leftovers! Johnny took some of out fishing one day and we also booked with him to go to Lamani. The pool isn't big but the grandson hardly got out of it! From the beach into the water you sink a bit in the sand but it didn't stop us from paddle boarding, canoeing and looking for shells. We liked playing pool upstairs each evening too! The sunsets from the roof top were spectacular as were the sunrises. Be sure and pack extra rolls of toilet paper as only one roll is provided per bathroom. We also brought rolls of paper towels and garbage bags as they are not provided. If we ever have the chance to vacation there again I'm sure we will stay here again.

The guest house is in a local neighbourhood. This is not a resort. I have iguanas lounging in the trees and it feels like home.
  • Feather's is just off the beaten path but has easy access to beautiful beach front San Pedro. We do recommend you plan on renting a golf cart to get into the "downtown" beach area. Although downtown is walkable (by road or along the beach), a cart or bike is convenient, and necessary for longer exploration. Diana is an excellent host. She knows San Pedro. Feathers is an authentic (& safe) San Pedro experience in a San Pedro neighborhood. Her property is big enough with mature trees and has a very private feel. Complete with a small, detached communal cafe for guests only. Great ambiance. We met some wonderful people. If available we recommend the roof top penthouse room, but each room has unique attraction with an artistic touch.

  • You'd be doing yourself such a disservice to not stay with Diana while in Belize...

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this unique and friendly place. Chatting with Diana and the other guests in the cafe really added to the experience.

  • Words cannot describe the "feeling" you have when staying at Feathers. Accommodating and kind hearted people all around to see that you enjoy your stay.

    Adam2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Feathers is a wonderful place for relaxing and sitting in a hammock or as a hub to see and experience all that Ambergris Caye and San Pedro have to offer.

  • Wonderful stay! Very comfortable and relaxing. Loved the outdoor shower.

    David2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Diana and Crystal was incredible! They provided excellent recommendations for our stay and were extremely hospitable. The room and outdoor waterfall shower was exactly what we needed after exploring San Pedro. Highly recommend!

My place is close to the beach, the airport, nightlife, and public transport. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the ambiance, the neighborhood, and the people. My place is good for couples.
  • This place is amazing. Steps away from everything in town but without the noise of the street or restaurants. We loved walking down the beach (right out front) or the boardwalk (right out back) to anywhere in town. We felt very safe. Curling and his wife were on site most of the time if we needed anything, but didn’t interfere. He also has loads of fresh aloe growing on site for those of us that didn’t avoid a sunburn.

  • This place is great! It is right on the beach and close to local shops and a grocery. It has all the basics that you need for a few days to prepare coffee/light breakfast. We had a bit of trouble finding the place after dark, even though we were given detailed instructions, but we did see some signage in the light of day. I feel like a name sign on the fence along the beach would have solved the problem. But if you are looking for a no-frills place very close to the water with warm hosts and a convenient location, this is for you! Great bargain in a slightly pricier area of Belize, too!

    Hillary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • No frills, perfect beachside location that is exactly as advertised. Spent a lot of time on the deck, taking in the cool breeze and the views of the Caribbean. Would definitely stay here again!

  • We had a very nice stay by the Caribbean Sea, lulled by reggae and waves. Very beautiful sandy beach, for beautiful walks. Extremely well placed, close to the Seahorse dive center (which we recommend), paddle and kayak rental, and bars and restaurants on the beach (without the nuisance of noise). The cabin is very clean. We will be back. Monica and Paul

  • Curling has a big personality! He and his wife were very accommodating and we had a great time in Placencia. Awesome location, right on the beach and close to everything we needed.

    Hannah2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great view and it was everything we were looking for. Arthur was a great host.

    Michael2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the cabin. It was exactly as shown in the picture- right on the beautiful beach, you wake up to the sounds of the ocean and birds. The place itself was very clean and the bed comfy enough. The kitchen didn’t have much for cooking but it has all the basics you need. There was also a tv which was a plus on some rainy days. Curling was a great host and the only thing I would change about this was staying longer. We only stayed for 3 day’s but I wish it was a week. Loved this little cabin and Placencia. Thank you!

A true beach home, large veranda perfect for relaxing and enjoying the cool Caribbean breeze after a day of exploring (or day drinking). The wrap around veranda is private and includes outdoor furniture and two hammocks. You will be a short walk from down town San Pedro, with great restaurants such as Blue Water Grill, Wild Mangoes, and the Chocolate Boutique a short walk away.
  • If you're looking for a waterfront apartment with a great view, this place will not disappoint. It's exactly as it looks in the photos and even better. The hosts were responsive, the apartment was clean and comfortable and restaurants and activities are a short walk away. One tip I would give a traveler is to be sure to obtain the address before you arrive at immigration in Belize. We had not been provided it in advance and the authorities would not let us in until we could provide it. To the host's credit, they responded immediately when we messaged them asking for the address, but a little nerve-wracking none-the-less. From there though, it was smooth sailing certainly the perfect experience for us. I would higly recommend this place.

  • Location. Location. Location. Beautiful views of the barrier reef, literally step out the back gate, across a few feet of sand, and there’s that warm Caribbean water!

    Stephen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for your hospitality. We loved our visit to San Pedro and your home was so well-positioned in town. We loved that we could walk the beach to navigate the island - overall it exceeded our expectations.

  • Gary and Ceni were great, and I can’t say enough good things about their place. The apartment is GORGEOUS, with hardwood accents and decor. The verandah overlooking the water is crazy, it’s a teeny walk from everything wonderful, and has A/C, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry on site, everything you could want. Gary picked us up from the water taxi and gave us a mini tour of town on his golf cart, with good tips for where to get a stiff drink, eat good food, and check out the water. Couldn’t have been better.

    Jill2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at this beach house was absolutely perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. The views are incredible from the balcony and we were a short walk from almost anything we wanted to do (although we did rent a golf cart). The place is exactly as pictured and described. Communication was slow to start as I did not hear back from the host until a few hours before we were supposed to check in.. so that was initially a little nerve wrecking as you’re in route to a foreign country. After that responses were quicker and they were very accommodating at checkout. Overall, everything was awesome and we’d for sure stay again & would recommend to our family & friends!

  • We had a great stay. Easy in town location. Step out the front gate onto the beach which is lined with cafes and restaurants and bars. A very fun spot to stay.

  • We had a fantastic stay. The apartment was lovely and right on the water. The location was perfect with many nearby restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
