  • Such a unique place to stay in a beautiful wild location. I feel rested and recharged after a peaceful two night stay. Even the weather didn’t spoil our trip as the airship is even more cosy in the wind and rain - there’s nothing like an afternoon in front of a wood burning stove with a glass of wine or two, some good music on the radio, good company and a sleeping dog curled up at your feet. Excellent - definitely recommend.

  • My stay at Michael and Nolwenn's cottage was great. It was the perfect base for a weekend getaway from Edinburgh.

    Grace2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, perfect location for Loch Lomond and surrounds, friendly helpful hosts.

    Jamie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Michael and Nolwenn's cosy cabin. As a non-driver it was wonderful to find a peaceful place to stay within easy reach of beautiful scenery yet right next to the train station and close to local amenities. Michael kindly met us from the station and helped us with our bags but it was so close - just across the road! We walked to the loch and went to the Sea Life and Birds of Prey centres. It was February so the weather wasn't great and sadly we couldn't make use of the pretty deck and gardens, but the cabin was toasty warm and there were plenty of board games, books and DVDs to keep us entertained. In fact, this is the best-equipped self-catering accommodation I've ever stayed in. Michael and Nolwenn have thought of everything, especially in the kitchen: as well as all the cutlery, crockery and utensils you'd need to cook, they provide tea, coffee, oil, sauces, salt, pepper, herbs and spices, even foil to wrap sandwiches in for picnics. These are the little things you often end up wastefully buying and leaving behind when you are self-catering and travelling by public transport. The accommodation was immaculately clean and tidy, the bed comfy, communication clear and efficient. An exemplary Airbnb experience!

    Emily2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn were lovely hosts! The place is every bit as cosy as it looks, located very close to Loch Lomond (the cottage has direct access to a riverside path that leads you to the Loch!) and Michael and Nolwenn gave us lots of useful information which we took advantage of during our stay! Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Loch Lomond area.

  • Fabulous accommodation, fabulous hosts, would definitely return

    Jen2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn are extremely kind hosts, full of useful tips of the area. The cottage is conveniently just a few minutes walk from the train depot, with plenty of privacy and a view of the river. Great place to spend a few nights away.

    David2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This magical oasis hidden on the River Leven banks of Balloch, is not to be missed. Within the first few moments into the cabin you already feel right at home, with a cosy aesthetic and some of the comfiest sheets we had ever slept in. The surrounding garden is genuinely the most magical area you will ever find yourself. Your inner child will be filled with wonder and adventure as you meander your way around its twists and turns. Waking up to a cuppa on the balcony is the ideal way to start your day and as you watch the sun peak through the trees you’ll realise that you never want to leave. Fisherwood Cottage is absolutely stunning and we can guarantee that it’s the best way to see Balloch.

  • Leave those smart gadgets at home and relax in superb natural surroundings with the beautiful loch Awe gentle waves swilling on the beach a few yards away, sit in the beautiful authentic hot tub watching the beautiful clear night skies, very romantic location or family hub to go and explore!

  • We had a fabulous pre Christmas break at Lochside. The lodge was even better than I hoped. I had worried that we might be overdoing it with 6 plus a dog but it is deceptively spacious and very well equipped. I had no problem cooking a Christmas dinner here. The location is stunning and we spent many hours in the hot tub overlooking the loch even when it snowed on us! Well worth the 7 hours drive

  • Wonderful cabin right on the loch. The hot tub was fab and natural stone fire pit fantastic. The views from the upstairs bedroom were breath taking to wake up to every morning. Enjoyed every minute of our stay and cant wait to go back. Well worth the 9 hour journey from london! The locals were friendly, in the villiage shop/cafe and community bar. The food was great too. Not one single complaint! Could not have had a more peaceful fabulous holiday.

    Jenny2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable get away from it all log cabin. The setting is wonderful right on the side of wonderful Loch Awe with rolling hills backdrop. The hot tub is wonderful a true treat. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. the owner left thoughtful extras midge spray, tips on how to stop them attacking. shelve full of books and games. it was sparkling clean and we felt at home straight away. The road to it is long and narrow (not that it bothered us) but it is well worth it.

A cosy, small, traditional stone cottage on the Isle of Lismore, in one of the most picturesque places of the west coast. It sits right in the bay at the end of the Great Glen and is surrounded by stunning mountain views. Please note: Lismore is an island that can only be reached by either of two ferry services. After your booking we'll send you an extensive welcome pdf with all the information you need about how to get here and how plan your stay.
If you're looking for a place to break away from it all, experience true peacefulness and inhale fresh sea air while green hills and beautiful mountains stretch endlessly before you, the Crofting Cottage on the Isle of Lismore is the place to for you. In our renovated historical stone cottage you get a real sense of what it means to live on an island while still enjoying all the comforts of modern life. Put on your wellies and go for a walk along the seashore, explore the small islands in the bay at low tide and return to a warm turf-roofed cottage and a cosy fire. Go for a cycle to discover the historical sites of the island and stop for some cake and coffee at our local café, get to know the welcoming island community and finish the day with a stew of delicious local lamb and a book from our varied collection, while admiring an unpolluted starry night through the skylights. The Crofting Cottage is a simple, open-plan space accommodation that is lovingly prepared for you, so you can feel right at home. It's got a mezzanine sleeping platform, a modern shower room, and a lovely kitchen corner with a handy cooker and double oven for all cooking enthusiasts. As an original island house it does not boast with space, but with cosiness, and the efficient and undemanding multi-fuel stove quickly heats every corner of it. It's not trying to provide a luxury holiday, but letting you re-connect with the simple pleasures of life, the sound of the seagulls for breakfast, the beauty of pure silence, the passing shadows on the mountains while the clouds are travelling over them, the ever-changing light and colours of a Hebridean landscape. Exchanging hurried subway connections for a leisurely ferry crossing, a mad weekend shopping for a browse through our small local shop, and the fight with software compatibilities for a fight with the wind, which, even if you lose it, somehow is so much more satisfying. It usually takes a day or two to allow yourself a much slower pace of daily life, but beware, once you've adjusted to island time and haven't let the presence of the wi-fi take away from it, you might find you could rather get used to it! The cottage is also perfect for an autumn and winter getaway, being a small space to heat, providing a comfortable reading sofa and lots of warm things for extra cosiness, including a down feather duvet. And though the days are short, the light is really at its most beautiful in the darker days of the year!
Lismore is a stunning island, with lots to see and do if you appreciate a quieter pace of life. We have a Heritage Centre with an island café (around 4 miles away) open 11 - 4 pm every day from April (check out varying winter opening times), and lots of historical buildings and monuments. It's ideal for walking and cycling, and if you would like to see as much as possible in one day and hear a few local stories, why not book an Explore Lismore landrover tour? You'll find everyone on the island very helpful, so if you get lost or have questions, don't hesitate to ask the first person to come your way! Lismore is a busy island and there's always something on, check the noticeboard at the local shop or the community website (www.isleoflismore.com) for upcoming events.
  • Thanks so much for having us. I’m still sad to not be there. Felt very much at home! A very comfortable 9 days. Great shower too! Will definitely be back.

  • The Croft is amazing and is in an amazing location! Lismore is the hottest holiday destination of the decade👍

    Caspar2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly lovely cottage. It's ideal for one person or a couple looking for a calm and cosy retreat to enjoy this amazing part of the world. We had very wintery weather so really enjoyed staying in lots! The fire was great and kept us cosy all week. The kitchen is brilliant and had everything we needed for cooking nice dinners. The bed platform is small and slightly tricky, but if you move the bed a little away from the wall you can sleep two people fine, listening to the rain on the roof is very cosy. The bathroom and shower is great, really hot water! There's lots of nice warm welcoming touches like slippers, hot water bottles, blankets etc. Plus a great selection of books and good WiFi. One tip I'd like to give future visitors - the local shops on Lismore and over on Appin (10min ferry from Lismore) are really great and stock everything you might need from all your normal groceries to plant based milks to nice wines, newspapers, etc. We stocked up in Oban before our trip so didn't use the local shops much but it seemed a shame when we realised how well stocked they are - buying from them is a great way to support the local economy while you're on holiday. Thanks Julia!

  • A fantastic stay in a beautiful setting in a cosy and we'll equipped lodge! The lodge is quite remote as the site is about half an hour along a single track road but there is a small village with post office and a bar about a ten minute walk away. The lodge was fantastic literally a stone's throw away from the loch and so peaceful and relaxing couldn't hear one bit of road or engine noise just perfect. The sky and WiFi worked great and I had full 4G signal whilst I was there too. The wildlife was great seen a multitude of things including seeing a white tailed eagle fishing in the distance and lots of small birds and ducks. The hot tub was amazing as was the wood burning stove! The sleep was comfortable and the sunrises were out of this world! Couldn't think of a better place to propose to my partner (now fiancée) and will definitely be return visitors!

  • Great location right by the loch, magical place and the hot tub is excellent as is the indoor facilities including shower, TV and kitchen. lovely walks nearby too in the forest and by the shore. would definitely recommend.

  • Lovely location for a frosty starlit hot tub retreat. Beautiful loch, with morning mist lifting to slowly reveal the stunning views and a very engaging flock of ducks working the shoreline. When inside, we stayed toasty warm with the wood-stove. Very enjoyable weekend which we topped off with a coffee at the charming Dalavich Village Shop before heading home. Thanks Sonja and Steve!

We look forward to warmly welcoming you to The Byre, a lovely renovated and historic farm cottage nestled in the countryside near the west coast town of Oban. Immerse yourself in the experience of living like a local on this traditional highland farm, run by a Scottish family from one of the ancient highland clans. You have the entire use of the cosy cottage with its exposed roof timbers and original stone walls. Relax, unwind and soak up the beauty in this special, peaceful cottage.
A living space with a fully kitted out kitchen and dining table; a bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and sink; and two twin bedrooms are all yours to enjoy. Breakfast cereal, jam, marmalade, milk, tea, coffee and fresh farm eggs are provided for you to make your own breakfast. The cottage was once the old byre (barn) for the farm. Now fully renovated, underfloor heating and double glazing ensures you'll have a cosy stay any time of the year.
The cottage is only a short distance from the village of Taynuilt. The village has a pub, restaurant, post office, grocers, butcher, craft shop, hair dresser and tea room. There are lots of nice walks in the area, including directly from the cottage. You can go for a stroll along the edge of a sea loch, a wander through a forest or climb a mountain. There are several open gardens in the area worth a visit, as well as castles, the Cruachan hydro electric visitors centre and the Inverawe Smokery.
  • My daughter and I had had an incredible time af the byre. We helped take care of the animals, even saw baby lambs minutes after they were born. The house was cozy and the town was so beautiful.

    Kristin2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t recommend a stay here enough! It was the last stop on a 2 week Scottish road trip and our favourite stop. Niall and Jim are fantastic people and we loved our opportunity to feed the sheep, goats, ducks and chickens. The Byre is cosy and warm - we only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Georgia2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place for a countryside getaway! The Byre is everything you’d hope for and a little bit more. Set in a beautiful location, the cottage is spacious, spotlessly clean and full of welcoming touches such as books, biscuits and board games. Perfect for a holiday with our toddler who loved meeting the animals! We wouldn’t hesitate to return and hope to do so soon.

    Susan2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre is a cozy cottage full of all the mod cons needed to make your stay very comfortable. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, Niall has turned this once black house into a perfect holiday accomodation. The views of Ben Cruachan are tremendous as is the situation on the whole. Niall's father introduced us to the sheep, goats, hens and various ducks on the farm, which was a lovely experience. The Byre is a perfect spot if you enjoy 'The good life'. Highly recommended.

    Dave2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Niall's place. From the moment we arrived to feeding the sheep the next morning. We loved the stories about the house, the farm and the sheep. A beautiful place to stay, with beautiful people. We will be back!

    Emmeline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best places we have had the pleasure of staying in. The location is ideal for exploring the area and both Niall and his father have some wonderful tips for things to do. Upon arrival, the house was perfectly clean and very cosy and comfortably set up. There were lots of lovely homely touches - which we very much appreciated. The hospitality was superb, we loved learning about the history of the building and being able to experience part of the farm, by feeding the animals, just topped off an already brilliant time. We would whole heartedly recommend Niall's place to anyone, and we are very keen to return.

    Joni2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage. With lots of little touches that we wasn’t expecting. With great hosts. Would recommend this cottage as it’s located near lots of destinations to visit and the scenery is beautiful. If you decide to stay here. You must go and visit the farm animals and help feed them. As it’s a lovely experience. Specially if you have children. Also the farms sheep dog is very friendly and likes to fetch the stick.

    Fi2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

The scenery and wildlife of the Loch Awe area is simply outstanding; arguably the best the UK has to offer. Loch Aweside Forest Cabins site is located near Dalavich on the NW shore of stunning Loch Awe, approximately 30 minutes from the west coast of Scotland. It covers an area of nearly 60 acres with a selection of privately owned cabins distributed throughout, on large, well spaced & private forest, woodland and loch side plots. This magical, mythical area is steeped in history and offers amazing scenery and tranquillity with an abundance of walks, cycle routes and places to visit and explore. The wildlife in the area is amongst the most abundant in the UK, with Osprey, Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle, Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, Red, Roe and Sika Deer and much more present. The loch itself, with its many islands, 5 castle ruins, cranogs and bays, is one of the prettiest, least spoiled in Scotland and offers legendary fishing (free of charge to cabin owners) and outstanding outdoor adventure. On site / village facilities include boat hire, small shop / café, community centre, bar / restaurant and 24 hour coin operated laundry.
  • The hot tub was a bit of a faff but was amazing when it heated up! Does require lots of logs so make sure to request about 3 bags per day to cover the fireplace inside and using the hot tub all day. Beautiful area, Loch Awe was visible from the cabin and the space was huge. Kitchen was outstanding and there was all the cleaning equipment provided. loads of gorgeous walks around too with tyre swings and bbq’s! The best lodge I’ve ever visited in Scotland and really hope to be back!

  • My family and I had a wonderful time at fern lodge. It was cosy and had everything we needed for the weekend. Sonja was great when we spoke and nothing was too much trouble. We ate at the local cafe/shop for lunch and the food was amazing. I’d also read in the reviews about the black rock takeaway too so we tried that for dinner and we were not disappointed. The Loch is stunning, even the drive up is beautiful. We would def visit again.

Unique, single-room glass-fronted hut in a silver birch/rowan wood on a small hill, full of character with a spectacular view 25 miles to the South East. Rannoch Moor is a place of peace and tranquillity, there is no noise (after the 9.05pm train) and no light pollution. Weather permitting, you can watch the stars and sunrise while lying in bed. You may also see deer walking in the wood, experience being cosy in the midst of dramatic weather or listen to the dawn chorus.
If you come and stay with us during the virus crisis you will be very welcome. We don’t need to interact at all. When you arrive please park in the station car park and then walk down the drive towards Renton Cottage which starts by the bins. The hut is up on your right after the log shed. Sadly, theTearoom is now closed of course until the restrictions ease so please bring your own food, plates and cutlery. I’ve put a small fridge and microwave in the hut for you to use. The kettle and all the other bits mentioned in our listing will be there and we will thoroughly clean the hut of course. You can certainly isolate here so we’d be very happy for you to come. It can be set up as a double or two single beds (please let us know your preference in advance). Dogs are welcome (but not on beds), please ask if you would like us to provide a dog bed. Access to The Star Hut is by a 6- step staircase and then a short climb up a grassy slope with a rope handrail available if needed. The hut itself is accessed by 2 steps. There is rough ground around the hut and slopes on all sides so care is needed. The Star Hut does not have plumbing but lockable toilets, sinks and hot water are available a few minutes (175 metres) walk away on Rannoch Station platform (clean and well-maintained by the owners, who are also station adopters). Smoking is not allowed in the hut or in the surrounding wood, please use the station car park. Please do not use the wood as a toilet for obvious reasons! A kettle, tea/coffee, and snack are provided free of charge. Bed linen, towel, soap, a torch, compass and binoculars are provided for your use free of charge. Wi-fi is not available Please note that the tearoom and local restaurants are all closed at the moment due to the virus. • This place has become our favourite hideaway! If you are looking for spectacular scenery, a tranquil and remote setting with fabulous views from your bed and amazing food just a short walk away, then this is your place! Bill and Jenny are awesome hosts and nothing was too much trouble, also Jenny makes wonderful cakes! We ate everything!! The hut was gorgeous with little thoughtful amenities and the setting was perfect. The dogs loved it too. We’ll be back for sure!

    Pamela2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • In a beautiful, quit area, surrounded by many deers. Perfect if you like to stay/sleep/walk in the middle of nature. The hut is perfectly clean, has a very good (warm) bed and the most beautiful view. Really cosy! though it’s small, you have everything you need. Even two glasses of whiskey! Because the tearoom was closed, Bill brought us diner and breakfast at the hut. Very tastful! The toilet/washing room is a bit far away. Takes you a few minutes walking. Besides that... we had an amazing stay-over!

    Olaf & Laetitia2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent getaway with a beautiful cabin blended rightly into the nature which overlooks a meadow and a forest. Had visitors the whole time in the form of deers. Bill was a great host who was flexible to the check in timings and provided us with delicious meals. Looking forward to being there in the summer.

    Sonya Lizbeth2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • When I saw this I thought it would be perfect little get away surprise for my partner. Having just enjoyed a very scenic drive (would recommend the scenic route rather than the A9) we arrived and could see the hut perched on the hill a short walk from the car park. The hut was lovely inside and had everything one would need for a nights stay. Bill had even brought in a dog bed as we had told him our dog would be joining us. The setting is very picturesque and quiet. When we awoke in the morning we were greeted by lovely views across the snowy moorland. Our dog loved running through the snow while we had a slow start to the day. We decided to do one of the recommended walks which was also very nice: seeing some deer running across the hills. Would highly recommend for a little getaway.

Fyne is a delightful log cabin located on top of the western shore of Loch Awe with a panoramic view over the water and beyond. The cabin is fully self-catering, no host is present other than the nearby caretaker and you have the place to yourselves. Recently modernised in a fantastic loch-side location, the interior comprises an open-plan living room/kitchen area offering a magnificent view of the loch with a generous balcony, two bedrooms and a large bathroom, accommodating up to 5 guests. The cabin is situated in the Dalavich Chalet Park with wide-open spaces between cabins, guaranteeing peace and quiet even during busy periods. The park is within the Inverliever Forest which offers wonderful country walks in the immediate vicinity, as well as access to fishing, cycling, sailing and of course the rich wildlife. This unique cabin is perfect for a young family or for couples to enjoy a relaxing holiday in an unforgettable location. Dalavich is central to the many and varied attractions in Argyll, such as The Avich Falls, Invarary Castle, Oban and its famous distillery. It also offers a convenience store for amenities and basic groceries, and a social club/bar which serves alcohol and hot meals, but please bear in mind that it is relatively remote, and if you require a more extensive range of amenities, you must drive 45 minutes to Oban. A car is highly recommended to stay here, but there are regular buses which run from Glasgow to Oban, and Oban to Dalavich.
Dalavich (Scottish Gaelic: Dail Abhaich) is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It lies on the western bank of Loch Awe and has a population of around 70. (It is located 30 miles from the main town and port of Oban, connected by the villages of Kilchreanan and Taynuilt) "Dalavich" is Gaelic in origin and means "meadows/valley of the River Avich". The village was established by the Forestry Commission in 1952 to facilitate timber operations in the surrounding Inverliever forest. This was labour-intensive and horses were used to extract timber from the forest - it is possible to get a glimpse of this history by visiting the "old stables" which contain material from this epoch. Nowadays, a number of villagers still earn their living directly from forestry. Inverliever forest was acquired by HM Officer of Woods in 1907 and was one of the original "State Forests". In September 1919, the Forestry Act came into force, setting up the Forestry Commission and giving it responsibility for woods in England, Scotland and Wales. The basis of forestry policy in the 1920s was the need to rebuild and maintain a strategic timber reserve. As the surrounding area could not supply adequate labour, the forestry village at Dalavich was established. In 1971, Inverinan forest was added to Inverliever. There are forest walks and cycle routes maintained by the Forestry Commission nearby, and houses or cabins are available for tourists. Popular forest walks include the Dalavich Oakwood Trail (where red squirrel, pine marten, woodpeckers and many other woodland inhabitants may be seen), and the Avich Falls; there are many more nature trails, e.g. to Otter Point. There is a church, a small shop and cafe with a part-time Post Office. There is also a social club as part of the community centre, the village also hosted a primary school but this was closed in 1997 due to an insufficient number of pupils. In 1997 there was only 1 pupil. There is boat hire and fishing permits can be bought locally. Some of the largest trout caught in Europe have come from Loch Awe.

Loved the log burner in the living room, nothing better than sitting in front of it when its pouring down with rain. Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of city life

  • What a great location. You can't get any nearer the loch without being in it! The cabin is cosy and we used the games and dvd's provided in the evenings. A really relaxing break.

VERY BASIC VERY REMOTE BEAUTIFUL BUT NOT LUXURIOUS bothy in an idyllic situation - exposed stonework and wood. Bring own bedding and cooking stove. Basic pots crockery cutlery etc provided. Shared outdoor toilet, indoor bath heated by solid fuel stove. Coal can be bought for £12 a bucket available if requested well in in advance from Rhoda's shop on Gometra's official website. Suits kayakers, experienced hillwalkers and island baggers. Please see reviews for more feedback.
This is a VERY BASIC NO LUXE bothy - do not expect modernised comfort. Gometra is off-grid - that means no mains electricity. You will need to bring bedding, food, cooking appliances and fuel (coal can be bought £12 a bucket in advance - contact details on Gometra's official website). We do not have a cleaner and ask people to leave as they expect to find it. This is reflected in the low price.
Gometra is the most beautiful island in the world but very remote.
  • A unique and wonderful place full of rustic charm and character.

    Helen2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place on a very special island. Be prepared to be buffeted by the weather but the gorgeous scenery, heather and wild flowers, sheep, horses, deer and eagles make it all worth while! And the turquoise sea when the sun came out was stunning! The bothy is cosy and has all you need. The beds are very comfortable and the bath a real treat after a day’s exploring! Thank you Rhoda for your warm welcome and tips in walks. An experience not to be missed by those who love nature, walking and islands!

  • This is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for somewhere away from it all. It took us under three hours to walk from Ulvaferry to JaneAnnes Bothy. It is not a hard walk as it is along a track and is well signposted. We were happily surprised that the Bothy is only a mile from the bridge onto Gometra. It shares s loo with the shop/gallery and has a stunning view. The shop had all sorts of goodies both edible and arty to buy, uht milk, biscuits, chocolate, a bit of fruit and vegetables etc. But I think it is good to take your own food generally as you can't guarantee what will be back in stock. The Bothy was clean and tidy and comfortable. The first night we did not light the fire early enough and so the water was not warm enough for a hot bath..it needs a good 3 hours to be piping hot. We were so glad we ordered coal and found that the bucket lasted three nights easily. We used head torches and not candles but you can buy candles in the shop if you need them. Our gas cooker was small but quick and adequate. We ate well but simply. Both days we were there the weather was fine in the morning and not so good in the afternoon. We walked extensively around the island climbing to the trig point behind Gometra house and also to our favourite Tor Mor opposite the bothy. We saw deer but sadly no otters or seals. The beds were comfy and we slept well. We loved being away from 4g and phone signal (but did find we had both at the tops of the islands hills), and living very simply. We met the other island inhabitants on our various walks. Both Andy and Roc gave us great advice about what to do etc. The walk out was fine and we had a lovely lunch at the Boat Cafe on Ulva before catching the ferry. We would highly recommend this as a lovely holiday destination especially if you want to feel you've been away for ages.

  • Magic of this remote dwelling is special!

    Kati2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • we loved it very much, it is very exceptional! we did not meet Roc unfortunately, but Rhoda is amazing! Thank you both for everything

    Notburga2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a place that I will be returning to again and again. It’s not for everyone but the pay off you get from a long and sometimes arduous walk from Ulva ferry is well worth it. The addition of duvets and sleeping bags really helped do next time I won’t have the bulk of carrying mine. This place is everything I need to get away from The rat race and ground myself. We are planning on kayaking next time. Looking forward to a time I can share the experience with my three boys. Cheers Roc and Andy !!

    Ben2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place , beautifull , amazing views , funny black face sheeps , horses , eagles and silence , a very cosy bothy , all together offer an unforgetable holliday

    Dinu2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A place to reconnnect and disolve the gap between self and nature. This is a unique place to be treasured and savioured. It provides a retreat with everything you need and nothing you do not. Thoroughly recommended.

  • We loved the stay at this house! Speechless

    Svenja2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Worth the extra cost to have hot tub preheated for arrival. Logs available from housekeeper. We brought a few bags of our own which was quickly used in hot tub and logburner so had to purchase more at £8 a net.

    Amanda2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely, quirky little place with lots to do and explore! The cabin was a cozy escape from reality that I would recommend to anyone and the hot tub was a magic little touch.

    Caillay2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re after a rustic cabin holiday in a beautiful location then this is the place for you! The cabin itself is just stunning, the facilities are good too. The location is very remote which is just what we were after. It was just perfect! We had a slight issue with the hot tub which was resolved quickly. We would not hesitate to return again next year, in fact it’s a must!

    Sara2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A well-equipped log cabin in a peaceful location. The place was clean and ready for us. There was good communication between us and the hosts.

  • A very cosy wooden cabin. The cabin is located about 20-30 mins along a country road along with multiple other cabins. The cabin is very well equipped, cosy and is a great escape from city life. The cabin has a great log burner inside and good sized wood fired hot tub outside. There is a small shop nearby for essentials and a lot of nice short walks nearby. The communication with the booking was great and check in was straight forward and flexible. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Great getaway cabin on the Banks of Loch Lomond, fantastic views of the loch and surrounding mountains. A great base for enjoying the many water sports available on the loch, hill walking or simply a relaxing break. Continental breakfast included.
The cabin is self contained with an en suite shower room, TV and free WiFi. A substantial continental breakfast is provided within the cabin. There is a covered balcony area and garden. Our biggest asset without doubt is the unrestricted stunning views of Loch Lomond and surrounding mountains. We are in the village and within a five minute walk of all local amenities. If you are attending a wedding in the village we are located 50 metres from the church and a five minute walk to both local hotels.
Luss is an extremely picturesque village in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National (URL HIDDEN) is in a conservation area with many ancient buildings, the local church being of particular interest with hump back Viking grave stones. You can also enjoy many beautiful walks in the surrounding area.
  • Stayed for two nights and the place was just what we were hoping for; comfy, great location in the centre of Luss, notable view and with some thoughtful extras kindly provided so we could make sandwiches after a long drive. The accommodation is straightforward and not fancy but it had everything we needed for our fairly brief stay. Would recommend.

    Rob2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent night away, would definitely return

    Taylor2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great if you just want to stay in Luss for a few days! It’s right across from a cute little coffee shop and down the street from a couple of places to eat. She refreshed the place every day and gave a nice continental breakfast. The host was so responsive and easy to chat to and you wake up to the best view! Only thing is it does get windy so bring ear plugs so you don’t hear the doors blowing. Great stay and super pleased!

  • Such an amazing place to stay, the scenery from the cabin is outstanding, & it's literally only a 2 minute walk onto the pier for the loch for even better perspective. Alyson is an extremely friendly & helpful host, would highly reccomend to anyone who clicks on this place!

    Adam2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Alyson's place was incredible. It was a special stop for me because of my family history and we could not have picked a more perfect place. We love Luss. Alyson welcomed us and was so hospitable. There were so many thoughtful touches in the quaint cabin. Super clean and adorable! There aren't words to describe how wonderful our stay was so please see for yourself!

    Kelsey2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to stay, wonderful views and definitely a wee hidden gem! The spread Alyson put on for breakfast was of excellent quality and all amenities were at hand. Exceptional value for money and a very clean and well kept place. Alyson was also a lovely host who was always on hand. I will recommend this place to anyone travelling in this region!

    Peter2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alyson’s cabin was just how we imagined, cosy, clean well stocked fridge with breakfast goodies. The best part is the view of the Loch and the perfect location.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  • Pictures cannot do justice to how beautiful this cabin and it's views are. It is truly breathtaking. Alyson was such a wonderful host, really easy to communicate with and so friendly and helpful. The breakfast she provides is more than enough for two and full of so many thoughtful touches. It was snowing while we were here but the cabin was so warm. Pub and cafe within walking distance and lots to explore within a short drive. Thank you Alyson for one of our favourite holidays!

  • Driftwood Cottage was the perfect birthday getaway! Although it was just the two of us the cottage provided ample, comfortable space and was everything we needed. The cottage itself is very homely and cosy, tidy and clean with all the amenities you would expect. The main bedroom is cosy with a good bed and a fantastic view of the Loch to wake up to. Undine is a very responsive host who left us birthday biscuits for our arrival which was a lovely touch! Book it!

  • Great location, comfortable cottage and lovely host. We were lucky. The weather was mild and sunny and we got out for plenty of walks. This is a great base to explore from, in every direction. Had the weather been different it would have been a pleasure to relax at the cottage. It is very comfortable and cosy with the fire on. The views are stunning. Highly recommend.

Welcome to Whin Cottage, a cosy stonebuilt home on the South West coast of Arran. Dating from 1900 when it was used as a farm, it looks out over fields to the southern Arran hills. Our cottage is a great place to escape from the stresses of everyday life, whilst offering a perfect base from which to discover Arran.
**PLEASE NOTE the rates shown on our calendar are per night, during the low season we can offer a discount (Nov -Mar excluding Christmas and New Year) for a 7 night stay. We prefer not to do stays of LESS than a week during the high season, but this is not set in stone. Our calendar is set 9 months ahead. We have different minimum stays throughout the year, however, WE CAN BE FLEXIBLE too so PLEASE ASK.... you never know!** Whin Cottage is a delightfully upgraded detached farmhouse set in open countryside above the hamlet of Sliddery. A cosy home from home on the south coast of the Isle of Arran. The cottage has 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 (NB. in 2 doubles and 2 singles), and benefits from views over the rugged South Arran hills. You can travel to the cottage by car or use the excellent Arran bus service which meets all the ferries. *Please let me know if you are travelling by bus and I can give you timetable links and further information.* The open plan living area is naturally lit by day and snug by night. It has a multi fuel stove (with supply of logs and coal); DVD player (plus large eclectic selection of DVDs) and DAB radio with ipod dock, books and games for after dark entertainment. The kitchen is well equipped with a Rayburn (for hot water and cooking), a Smeg gas hob, a microwave, a slow cooker, a double sink and a fridge freezer. With beautiful views across the hills, the recently built conservatory provides a space for “dining with the wildlife” with French doors leading out to the patio. The table can be extended to sit eight. The garden is mainly lawned with a patio and outdoor furniture. A large barn adjoins the cottage housing the log store, laundry facilities and a large ceiling-mounted clothes airer, with plenty of room to store bicycles and other sports equipment. There is a table tennis table ,portable barbecue and small table football in the barn too. Cars can be parked on the hard standing at the side of the cottage. Our local beach is a short drive or 20 minute walk away. Our cottage is an ideal base from which to cycle, walk, watch the abundant wildlife, tour ancient sites, enjoy the quiet and beautiful sandy and rocky beaches or just soak up the peace of the countryside. A great all year round destination. We currently have no wifi, tv or mobile phone coverage. We do have a phone in the cottage for emergencies. Wifi is available all around the island, we just prefer a break from the stresses of life.
This is a rural cottage and as a consequence has no mobile phone signal. We have a landline for guest use. No wifi.
  • It was definitely a unique experience. The day of our scheduled tour , the area was having a heavy downpour. The added water made parts of the experience a bit more challenging. But it was still a very good experience. We definitely were physically challenged in some areas of the tour - but never felt unsafe. Wesley was very understanding when we had to change the date of the adventure a couple of times . Probably the part that we appreciated the most were the photos Wesley took during our wild cave adventure and shared with us . They made for some great memories . It’s something everyone should do at least once . This isn’t your ordinary commercialized cave tour !

    Sandra2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible experience on our wild cave tour. I’ve been on a few “touristy” cave/cavern tours but never anything this up close and hands on. Our tour guide Wes was so knowledgeable, competent, and enthusiastic. He took us on an amazing journey through tight spaces we never thought we could fit through. We emerged from the cave feeling accomplished and proud, and very dirty and wet :)

    Paula2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The loveliest, cosiest cottage on the fabulous Arran. A great base to explore but equally a lovely cottage to kick back and relax. I would highly recommend staying here, it’s the perfect place to get away from it all. Sue has also been a great host and very accommodating.

    Jennifer2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and quite place to stay. Definitely worth to book.

    Magarita2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place is a perfect cosy get away on Arran. Loved the fire and the Rayburn and being away from the internet ! Sue was really helpful with advice on ferries and when my brother's ferry got cancelled she very kindly let us a checkout a bit later to maximise our trip. Couldn't have asked for more and such good value thanks Sue!

    Faye2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space. Not much to add that other reviewers haven't already said about how peaceful and relaxing our stay was. For what it's worth, unlike a lot of the reviews we read, we did actually have mobile service, though we're not sure which UK network our US phones were connecting to.

    Brennan & Jamie2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was perfect for our visit around Arran, exploring the different landscapes that the island has to offer in such an easily accessible way. It was cosy with a wood burning stove and storage heaters (the latter took the chill off the space throughout our stay). The views were staggering and the setting accessible to north, south, east and west! The kitchen was fully stocked so cooking was very easy. We highly recommend it to a couple, or a family.

    Nancy2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stylish cottage with a warm Rayburn at it's heart and a comfortable family feel. Peaceful location with gorgeous views and a great supply of books, games and DVDs for the occasional rainy day. Beautifully and thoughtfully arranged spaces. Everything you could need in the kitchen and comfortable beds. Just a short walk to the beach full of wonderfully coloured and patterned pebbles (and swimmable sea). Great base for walkers and cyclists.

  • Highly recommended! A great place for a short stay, with lots of lovely homely touches.

  • The little beach house is a wonderful base for exploring. Anoushka has clearly thought about the interior carefully and it is stylish and cosy. Well-equipped with some really thoughtful touches. Anoushka responded to messages very clearly and gave excellent instructions for check-in and check-out. Would recommend.

  • My partner and I had the most wonderful stay - due to inclement weather, we were unable to catch a ferry off the island and we needed to extend our stay by 2 nights. This was no trouble to Anoushka. The accommodation was perfect - spotlessly clean, quiet, chic, welcoming - we could not have asked for more and we will certainly be returning.

    Joe2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the little beach house was perfect. Ideal for a weekend retreat for the two of us. Anoushka really had thought of everything! I hope we can go back again soon.

  • Honestly, a faultless stay. Excellent accommodation in a very good location to explore the island. Bed very comfy and everything spotlessly clean. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. Anoushka is very quick to respond to any questions and very helpful, an excellent host.

  • Tons of historic charm, lots of space. Great touches - stocked kitchen and bath for any needs. Amazing sea views. Big bedrooms. Quick washer. Right downtown / awesome location. Yes the stairs are a beast. Yes parking is a bit tricky, but solvable - there are a few spaces right out front and lots nearby. I would be worried at high season however. Nice place highly recommend.

"New" 5 star luxury studio with loch views. Beautifully finished to a bespoke hotel standard. Ideal location for exploring the best of Glencoe and Lochaber. The accommodation is rented on a room only basis breakfast is not provided. However, The fabulous Holly Tree Hotel and Restaurant is located 2 minutes away and we can arrange for you to enjoy breakfast there taking advantage of the amazing panoramic views. Pre-booking is required.
Luxury drench shower, deep double slipper bath and wonderfully comfortable king size bed. Internet TV with free wifi. Relaxation area with gas fire. Coffee machine, kettle, toaster, small hotel style fridge and limited crockery. There is no cooking facilities. Guests can opt to prepare a light continental style breakfast within the accommodation using their own food items. Outdoor seating area with views directly onto the loch.
Hi Folks A few recommendations for you to consider while your here. A quick internet search will give you more details! You'll be spoilt for choice for dinner options. The closest restaurant to us is The Holly Tree which has a fabulous lochside location and amazing panoramic views and you can walk to it easily. There is also Loch Leven Hotel which overlooks Ballachulish Bridge again a short drive from us or The Laroch Restaurant in Ballachulish village and Loch Leven Seafood Cafe on the shores of the Loch all of which have wonderful reviews !! Clachaig Inn is the climbers pub and restaurant with live music. It's really hard to choose if you have a quick internet search on these it may help you decide. Glen Etive is the estate owned by the family of Ian Fleming (James Bond fame) and location for part of Skyefall. The estate is situated in the heart of Glencoe. The other recommendations are a trip to Oban to visit the distillery. Also en route to Oban is Port Appin where you can see Stalker Castle from Jubilee Bridge and visit Pier House for Seafood or just a coffee and scone. The cafe above Stalker Castle is called “the view” 20 minute drive from here - and has great breakfast options! From Oban you can take a boat trip to the Isle of Mull and onto tranquil Iona and the Abbey - its a long day but really worth the effort. Skye is also possible as a day trip and I would highly recommend you use the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale on Skye. The journey from Fort William to Mallaig is classed as one of the 10 best journeys in Europe - stop at Camusdarroch beach its simply stunning! If you choose Adrnamurchan seek out Sanna Bay and if open The Boat House at Kingairloch is a great stop for lunch. If the weather is awful book afternoon tea at Inverlochy Castle Hotel in Fort William - it's a real treat and worth a visit total relaxation and a wonderful experience! You are probably best to pre book. The gondola trip up the mountain can be found at Nevis Range just outside Fort William and a short drive from Inverlochy Castle Hotel. You may also like the drive to Glenfinnan and Mallaig - route of the famous Harry Potter train. Glenfinnan also has the monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the famous viaduct from the film. There is an amazing waterfall at Steall Falls situated in Glen Nevis and the Lost Valley in Glencoe is a spectacular hike or we do have Ben Nevis !! For mountain biking Nevis Range is home of the mountain bike World Cup track. If your brave and would like to try canyoning, via feratta or kayaking look at vertical decents. Discover Glencoe is a great web site for ideas too. There is a small grocery store in Ballachulish called the CoOp which is open from 7am to 10pm in case you needed anything. Hope this helps !! Kind regards Mairi
  • Wonderful place, great views, in the middle of everything, yet tranquil getaway.

    Mindaugas2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

  • We had a fantastic time here, as soon as we arrived we where met by mari who was extremely friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of good local recommendations. We where immediately blown away by the views, and the accommodation itself is terrific and very cosy, with a huge easy to use fire, and all the essential facilities, aswell as plenty of little personal touches throughout that made it a very charming place to stay.

  • George’s place is a gorgeous get away with a hot tub and sauna. We loved the space, it was clean, well kept and George was also a fantastic host, keeping us informed about the weather (as we had travelled from 6 hours away). He is very quick at responding to queries and this alone made us feel welcome. We would definitely return to his cabin to spend longer there as we only had 2 nights.

Schoolhouse cottage has gorgeous views of the sea and mountains and is wonderfully located for exploring the highlands. Here you can enjoy the flexibility of a whole cottage, but for short stays if that suits you best.
The cottage is light, bright and cozy and overlooks Loch Linnhe and the mountains of Glencoe and Ballachulish. The spacious living room has a vaulted ceiling and leads on to an open plan kitchen and dining area. The bedroom is small, but has a king-size bed with a memory foam mattress and fitted wardrobes. The whole cottage is decorated in restful, neutral colours. Located on the main route through the western highlands, connecting Glencoe to Mallaig, Skye and the small isles, the cottage is on the A82, 10 miles south of Fort William and between the villages of Onich and North Ballachulish. Surrounding the cottage are beautiful gardens with an outdoor seating area. Across the road, steps lead on to a secluded, shingle beach with views eastwards towards Glencoe and westwards towards the Isle of Mull. There is free Wi-Fi, along with a TV/DVD player and a Bluetooth music system. The kitchen is well equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher, and basics such as organic sunflower oil, fairtrade sugar, salt and pepper are also provided. In addition, you will find complimentary organic ground coffee, fairtrade instant coffee, fairtrade and organic tea, as well as Scottish shortbread. Laundry facilities are also available. Perfect as a base for exploring the Highlands and touring on to Skye and the northern isles, the cottage offers the flexibility of short stays for two or more nights, self-catering. The cottage sleeps two and we can additionally provide a cot and high chair for wee ones. One dog is usually welcome at no extra charge but please check with us before booking if you intend to bring a dog. On your arrival, you will find complimentary, organic, ground coffee, tea, milk and Scottish shortbread. We look forward to welcoming you as our guests.
There are many nice places to eat nearby, including the Loch Leven Hotel and the Onich Hotel, both of which are dog-friendly, and the Laroch restaurant and bar in Ballachulish, whose kitchen is run by Michelin Star Chef, Allan Donald. For seafood, the Loch Leven Seafood Café is highly recommended. As the Outdoor Capital of the UK, the region of Lochaber is fantastic for all kinds of outdoor activities including hiking, sailing, skiing, ice-climbing and cycling. The ski resorts of Glencoe and the Nevis ranges are about 25 minutes' drive away and are open all year round for skiers and hikers. Boat trips to visit the islands and spot wildlife depart from Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe. A thirty mile radius from the cottage takes in Ben Nevis, the mountains of Glencoe, the world's largest indoor ice-climbing wall, the Seal Sanctuary near Oban, Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie gathered the clans in 1745 and the famous Harry Potter viaduct .... to name but a few.
  • We had a fabulous stay at the schoolhouse cottage. The cottage was sparkling clean, very cozy and in a stunning location. Sarah and Chris were quick to respond to messages and had added thoughtful touches like a wee Christmas tree which made us feel right at home. Cant wait to go back!

  • My husband’s and my stay at The Schoolhouse Cottage was incredible! This was by far our favorite Airbnb stay we’ve ever had. Chris and Sarah were the absolute best hosts. They greeted us as we arrived and showed us around. The cottage was so organized and so clean and we had all the amenities that we needed. Chris and Sarah even left us a small pitcher of milk for our tea/coffee and some delicious shortbread cookies. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our Scotland honeymoon trip. The next chance we get to come back to Scotland, we will 100% be booking another stay at the schoolhouse cottage. We would highly recommend staying here!

    Steven2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is clean and tidy, and the windows and the gates are the lake and the mountains. Each window is like a painting, especially at sunrise and sunset. Very worth living.

  • Highly recommend staying here! We were only there for one night, but it was my favorite place that we stayed at on our trip (stayed at 4 different places in Scotland). The view was incredible, and the house was clean and nicely decorated. The hosts were really nice and met us when we arrived. They even left us some milk in the fridge which was very helpful since we didn’t have time to go to the store!

Lovely, warm, fully modernized cottage set in 3 acre garden with spectacular views across Lamlash bay. Surrounded by forest, fields and abundant wildlife, yet 500 meters down a beautifully wooded (and occasionally steep!) track are the yacht harbour and all village amenities, including shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, playgrounds, beaches, etc.
Heather Park is a fully-renovated typical island crofter's cottage. It has beds for eight (or even nine or ten if you must) and two bathrooms (two toilets, two showers, but only one bath). It is neat, clean, cozy and warm, with a wood-burning fireplace in the living room and geothermal heating throughout. It is filled with beautiful artwork by acclaimed local artists. The kitchen, conservatory and lounge are spacious and can each easily accommodate 8. The house is isolated and quiet, surrounded by fields and trees and nature, but also only a ten-minute (and occasionally steep) hike up a delightful wooded track from the village's central yacht harbour, pier and amenities like pubs, shops, market, tea rooms, golf course, tennis, pharmacy, etc. Wireless internet, tv and hundreds of dvd's, board games, puzzles and books are all available for your use.
The pier at the boat harbour at the foot of our track is a lovely place to hang out and meet people coming and going. The gorgeous Holy Isle out in the bay dominates the view, beckoning visitors, and the Holy Isle ferry makes a walking visit easy and exciting. Lamlash village itself has good restaurants, good pub food, lovely tearooms, a market and other shops. Close access to the main village of Brodick to one side and the artsy village of Whiting Bay on the other makes Lamlash the perfect place to explore all of Arran while living in relaxing and quiet splendour away from it all. One of the island's seven Golf courses is a fifteen minute walk away.
  • The cottage has everything one may need plus an amazing view. There is plenty of space for 8 people and the host is very nice. The cottage is quite easy to reach also by bus, because there is a bus stop just at the end of the street that links the main road with the cottage. It’s a great place to stay if you are planning to spend some days visiting Arran, but also if you just want to relax in a quiet place.

    Tiziana2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic well equipped cottage in a stunning setting. Lots of lovely touches. Marbeth was very helpful and welcoming and Kevin was very responsive throughout our stay. Highly recommended

    Jane2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The views from the conservatory are amazing, the weather wasn't great for us so we spent a lot of time underneath a blanket reading & watching the rain coming in over Lamlash bay. Having the stove on in the living room makes a big difference to the warmth of the house. The trampoline & gardens in general are great fun for small children. Don't be alarmed by the drive up or down the track, it was fine and felt very safe. Had a meal at the Pierhead Tavern in Lamlash and the food and service was really good. The bartender also gave us a lift back up the hill as the weather had turned for the worse!

    Alasdair2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our recent stay at Kevin’s couldn’t have been any better- very comfortable, very cosy, everything you could need for an escape away to relax and take it slow, but easy to access all that Arran has to offer. The weather when we arrived was awful but the welcome was so warm and friendly, and we knew should we need any help or advice it would be there straight away. Kevin handled everything very quickly, and we cannot thank him enough for our stay. Just amazing, thank you so much.

    Christopher2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely week in the cottage over Christmas. The living room is really cosy with the wood burner and plenty of games to play. The garden has stunning views and is very enjoyable to walk around, there are lots of birds and some very sweet horses in a paddock at the back. Bedrooms are spacious while being cosy and comfortable and we loved the underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed and lots of space to cook. Would happily return!

    Caroline2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location and views. Loads of outdoor space overlooking the bay, all very well kept. We saw a red squirrel before we even got to the house. We had everything we needed and a very warm welcome from Marbeth. Highly recommend.

    Jess2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • This property is an absolute gem. We had never visited Arran before and were so glad that we came across this beautiful home. The views are second to none, especially when you are up early enough to catch the sunrise. I can not recommend this property and host enough! We can’t wait to come back.

    Deborah2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Super comfortable cottage with stunning views. Quick and helpful responses from Kevin the owner and nice having a contact person in the cottage next door. Up a very steep hill from the village but only took us 8 minutes to walk to the Tavern for drinks and dinner although we did organize a taxi for return trip! Would love to have been able to stay longer but seriously recommend this cottage!

The farm stocked with food for sale is family run and just a stones throw away downhill from the yurt. Access to the farms indoor swimming pool, and shower room is included. Three reasons to come in winter: + Star filled skies +Quiet winter beaches +Get your gamblers fix playing with weather
Tobermory is a beautiful coastal town well known for its colorful houses overlooking the bay. It has a lot of nice cafes, seafood restaurants and gifts shops. Sea wildlife tours are available from the harbor as well as many boat visits to the island of Staffa, famous for its basalt-formed columns; and to the Treshnish Isles. You can also visit the Tobermory Whisky Distillery in town.
  • Awesome stay. We loved the yurt, it was so cosy. Staying warm next to the fire.

  • The yurt is cosy and homely, brilliantly located for Tobermory and exploring the Isle of Mull!

    Jessie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • What incredible peace! The yurt was beautiful, and cosy warm, even on a snowy night in February. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast, and we had a super weekend. Thank you! Also thanks for the tip of a great route to drive to explore the island!

  • The yert was fantastic!!! It has such good character and is very cleann in a fantastic location. It was a quite noisy in the night but we were staying during Storm Dennis. Hosts therefore let us stay in the cottage for our second night which was also incredible! Brilliant hosts and a brilliant experience, would highly recommend

  • Great find and thoughtful host couldn’t recommend more

    Rowan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great just above Tobermory and below a castle. The yurt is super cute, just as pictured, located on a dairy farm. You have a legit shower and bathroom not too far away. The 2 heaters in the yurt aren't drawing enough power, so it will get cold at night. The firewood was damp so we couldn't get a fire roaring. There was a storm outside during our stay, which sounded really cool, and the yurt held up great. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly, and you will likely get to see baby coos

    Chip2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location! Extremely cozy and fun place to stay, even in the winter. It's a quick drive from Tobermory and everyone at the farm was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend it!

    Mark2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great glamping experience, the yurt had almost everything we needed. We went in January and with 2 heaters and a fire going we had no issues with the cold! Great location, only a 5 minute drive into Tobermory. The cheese farm/shop was great too, would love to see the cafe open in the summer.

  • From the very start of the booking process the communication from the host, Marc, was spot on. It was easy to find and check-in. I wanted a quirky place to stay to suit adults and teenagers, and this fitted the bill. It was large enough to spread out and relax. Clean, warm, interesting interior. Great transport links. Supermarkets on the doorstep, plus an interesting riverside walk.

  • Beautiful, stylish and spacious apartment. Fantastic historic building with big windows, exposed brickwork and lovely views across the Clyde. Marc was really quick to respond to questions. We had a great stay and hope to return sometime.

Fabulous views over the sea to Laphroaig distillery. Skandi design with serious luxury for one couple to escape to Isle of Islay tranquility (the Queen of the Hebrides). Frequent visitors are Golden Eagles and Hen Harriers. Come and relax in style.
Nestled in to the hillside this architect designed accommodation has expansive views across to Kilnaughton Bay, Port Ellen, mainland Argyll and Ireland. The views are a constant source of pleasure always changing as the light and weather change. Attention to comfort is paramount with cosy underfloor heating, goose down duvet and wood burning stove so that even in the worst of weather it’s possible to snuggle down! In glorious weather the doors can be left wide open with an outdoor table for barbecuing and eating Al Fresco. In the kitchen top of the range Miele oven, induction hob and Tapenyaki mean that all Islay’s wonderful larder can be cooked with delicacy and precision. We want your Islay experience to live long in the memory so we have tried to think of everything!
Islay as a haven for bird watchers and distillery watchers alike. With many pristine beaches and lots of places to walk, cycle with many activities locally available.
  • Spectacular location, amazing accommodation which was truly over and above that advertised. An extremely luxurious place to stay on Islay. Richard was a very friendly and hospitable host. The accommodation has been very well thought out with some lovely touches. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a luxury, tranquil and special break. The view is to die for.

    Elaine2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A truly incredible opportunity to visit and stay in one of the best locations on Islay. Watching the Atlantic wall of weather swallow port Ellen from the luxury and comfort of my accomodation was a memory that lasts a lifetime. Sadly at the cost of spotting any Eagles.... I will catch them next time. (My stay was February).

    Pete2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best AirBnB we have stayed at, the accommodation, equipment facilities were first class and Richard and Sue are just lovely hosts. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay and Islay is just a lovely island to spend time in

    Mike2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay for my partner's 30th, stunning views and very tranquil. Something very nice about sitting in with the fire watching the wind and rain outside.

    Nicola2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • 5/5 stars. We loved Richards place! Communication was very quick and easy, and once we got to the island, his directions were perfect and very easy to understand. The cottage was much better than we expected, all the little touches Richard has included made it feel more like a spa vacation. The shower....the bathrobes, the slippers, the shampoo and body wash, etc....The food he left for us to make breakfast. The bottle of wine! It was just perfect. The view of Port Ellen was stunning, and we got especially lucky to see the fireworks for Guy Fawkes night. Highly recommend, and fantastic value for the price. Also, Gus is wonderful.

    Rod2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning views and beautiful property

    Nan2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Richard’s place is absolutely amazing and the views are spectacular. He is the most thoughtful host and the house exceeded our expectations. You will not be disappointed staying here. You’ll only be disappointed if you don’t.

    Dorothy2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Richard thought of every detail in his house. We felt at home the moment we arrived and were able to enjoy the most amazing view from his house. Richard has a great taste when it comes to design which made our stay a luxurious retreat. Above that he is the most thoughtful host and is always there to help. I would highly recommend Richards house for your vacation! We’ll definitely be back!

Nestled in the forest, lochs and mountains we have our spacious and eco friendly Signal Rock Cottage. With bird songs being the score for your ears and nature being the canvas for the eyes, underfloor heating for your feet we love to be able to offer this as your special holiday spot. Fun film fact: Warner Brothers used the Torren Lochen in the Harry Potter film The Prisoner of Azkaban. All the scenes with Hagrids Hut were filmed here. Dogs Welcome - £10 per dog per night subject to T+Cs.
Signal Rock Cottage was built in 2008 as an Eco House utilising a local biomass boiler and underfloor heating to make a cozy yet contemporary space. The setting within the forest makes for a true get a way feel with wildlife spotting opportunities in abundance from the window. The cottage consists of 2 double en-suit rooms which can have beds made up as either doubles or twins. The shared living area opens out with patio doors into the forest and the fully equipped kitchen makes it a perfect spot if you fancy dining in for the evening. You may find that there is someone staying in the other bedroom with whom you will be sharing the living space & kitchen. Unusually for a B&B we have a kitchen for the exclusive use of our guests. We also allow access to the cottage at all times of day so you can come and go as you like. Washing machine and drying facilities are also available to our guests on request. There is cosy underfloor heating fuelled by a wood fuelled boiler feed with wood chips locally sourced. All the water in the taps comes direct from our own spring and is filtered and passed through an Ultraviolet light to ensure purity. No Chlorine is added. We are proud of our Green credentials and have won many awards for our Environmental management. We have Wifi but the Highlands of Scotland are, according to a National newspaper, the most poorly served in the whole of Britain as far as Broadband is concerned. Service is reasonable in our area most of the time but the signal can drop from time to time, this is generally the time I take it as a sign to go outside (or look out the window if its pouring and stormy). We only accept bookings at the week-ends for a minimum of 2 nights. So Sunday night, Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday nights are all available to be reserved on a one night basis. Only Friday and Saturday nights have to be booked together. Breakfast is provided on a self services basis and we will stock the cupboards with a selection of cereals, bread, spreads, milk, yogurt, fruit, teas and coffees. The second B&B room is also listed on Airbnb giving the opportunity for the private use of the cottage apartment. If you can't find the listing send us a message and we'll help you book this. Please note the private owners apartment is located upstairs. Dogs Welcome - £10 per dog per night subject to T+Cs. If you intend on bringing your dog please contact us prior to arrival.
Glencoe is the most iconic Glen in Scotland. Dramatic and a "must visit" for all visitors . We are lucky to live right in the middle of the Glen. As someone said to me " the silence at night is deafening!" The sky is black and on a clear night alive with starlight. We feel incredibly lucky to live here and love to share it with everyone! It was here that Warner Bros filmed the Harry Potter film "The Prisoner of Azaskaban! and all the pictures of Hagrids Hut for the subsequent films are from here. You can see the site from Torren Lochan. Warner Bros told us they needed mountains, trees and water and we had it all! The Glencoe Cottages were taken as Editing Offices and they rented Torren House as their Production Office. They were here for 5 months in 2005 .
  • Amazing cottage in an amazing part of the world! Hosts allowed us the peace we were looking for and provided good breakfast items for the morning. 5min drive from Glencoe Village there is beauty all around. Please be aware this is a shared cabin so if you don't book both room 1 and room 2 then you may be sharing the amenities

    Tamzyn2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

Tigh na Craig (house on the rocks in Gaelic) is a colourful village home overlooking the sea. The house is owned by an artist, and so there is original artwork everywhere. There is vintage furniture everywhere. Enjoy vintage vinyl collection, dvd and cd collection, Netflix and smart tv. Free wifi access. We are 10 minutes from a train station on the "Harry Potter" railwayline to Mallaig. You can get to Glasgow airport and the city of Glasgow on our little passenger ferry and rail connection.
I am an artist and live and work here but my accommodation is separate from the part occupied by guests. I offer guests , a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. You will have your own front door access, and access also to the garden and verandah. The house is centrally heated and there is a wood burning stove in the living room. I provide one basket of logs. Extra bags of logs available at £7.50 each. There is a smart tv there together with DVD, CD player and a record deck with lots of vintage vinyl. I have a Netflix account for your use. I provide tea, coffee. The decor is quirky and contemporary with vintage furniture mixed with the up-to-date.
Our village - Kilcreggan faces south over the Clyde estuary. It is about an hour and a quarter's drive from Glasgow. The Gourock/Kilcreggan ferry runs Monday to Saturday until 6pm in the evening. Timetable online. It is a passenger ferry and the crossing is 10 minutes in duration.
  • We had a month in this place and it was great, excellent place to disconnect from city life, was very quiet and peaceful. :)

We enjoyed hiking near Loch Lomond and the Rest and be Thankful viewpoint area that are relatively nearby. Eleanor was helpful and welcoming on our arrival and departure. We even enjoyed watching the fireworks across the Loch from the beach a few minutes away on New Year’s Eve at midnight. Definitely worth a trip!

Our delightful cosy Cottage sleeps two, four if you want to use the sofa bed. Situated in amongst some of Argyll's most dramatic scenery. It's a perfect base for walks' sailing, horse riding, bird watching or just sitting by the wood burning stove.
Historically West Barravullin was a very important place, as Crofters would bring their grain to be milled here - Translated - Barravullin means -Mill on the Hill. It is a tranquil, secluded property, a perfect place to relax and getaway from the rigours of everyday life. The Cottage has a double bed and if needed a double sofa bed - so can accommodate four. There is also outdoor seating with wonderful views of the Mountains on the Isle of Mull.
What I love about this area is the History and the breathtakingly magical scenery. Ardfern has a marina where the guests can take a boat trip out to see the Corryvreckan Whirlpool - the second largest in Europe, or visit the Inner Hebridean Islands - Jura for instance where George Orwell wrote his futuristic novel - 1984.
  • We're just home from 2 night in Joanne's cottage and can't recommend it highly enough. We stayed indoors for a full day as there were hailstorms and gales outside - we were quite happy to be tucked inside next to the woodburner. The cottage is cosy, clean, full of DVDs and books and Joanne had left us all the basics (milk, eggs, bread, fruit) we needed. We'll be back!

    Claire2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful "bothy", the wood fire gave the place a lovely homely feel and scent. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Host provided breakfast stuff including eggs from her free range birds, but we'd already bought our own breakfast stuff so didn't use any. Helpful walk route suggestions for our walks with digs, as well as a neighbouring field for quick dog toileting. Beautiful house, we found ourselves wishing we had more time just to spend in it, rather than out and about.

    Rebekah2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Just the kind of secluded feel we were looking for. Nice cozy place with a great view and outstanding hospitality. Fire waiting for us when we got in and a few surprise supplies waiting in the fridge and on the shelf. I think we may be coming back very soon!

    Thomas2019-11-03T00:00:00Z

  • Stephen and Kat were the most gracious and wonderful hosts who go the extra mile for their guests. Nothing I asked was too much of a hassle for them. The room is clean and tidy with beautiful views from the garden looking out towards the Holy Island. I had a fantastic time and I would encourage everyone to book here.

    Douglas2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were very well received by Steven and Kat. Their house is literally next to the water, with the sun it's magic. By the way, very good central location in Lamlash, several restaurants next door. Also, Steve seems to take a real pleasure to serve you a good breakfast :) To recommend ! Thank you both

    Catherine2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The accomodation is super centrally located in Lamlash and Stephen and his wife are two super nice hosts, which I can absolutely recommend at this location. It was great to be part of the small community, even if it was too short for me. I would definitely return to the island of Arran and visit Stephen again.

    Katrin2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely time at Stevie and Kat’s! They were so welcoming and full of local knowledge that really made our trip something special. Fantastic location as well!

    Diane2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Seagate, located on the waterfront and has a great view. We were traveling by car and from the ferry to Stevie and Lat it was only a stone's throw. Both are very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. Gladly again!

    Melissa2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Clear communication, helpful but not pushy suggestions, accommodation that has everything you need and a very nice breakfast. Great value for money, in a spectacular spot, on a wonderful island.

    Fiona2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • very nice place, we felt free like at home , Kat made us delicious breakfast

    Jean-Philippe2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location right next to the ferry, and of course right on the ocean. Stevie and Kat were welcoming, and were instrumental in helping us with our transportation to the island. We booked our ferry well in advance (as they had suggested to us earlier), but still would’ve missed our stay with them if they weren’t on top of the ferry status and noticed our ferry time was cancelled. Almost all of the ferry times from Ardrossan to Brodick were canceled the day we were supposed to go and we wouldn’t have even noticed without the heads-up from Stevie and Kat. Thanks to them we were able to make other arrangements and our vacation still went smoothly. Top marks for caring for their guests!
