Numbi Valley is a wonderful example of off-grid sustainable living. There is one private guest cottage on the farm and Kath and Ross welcome you to enjoy their uniquely created space. There are abundant organic gardens, a spring fed fresh water plunge pool with amazing views, all in a very beautiful and peaceful valley in the klein karoo countryside. There are scenic walks, cycling routes, fresh produce , excellent massage, delicious pizza, stargazing and wi-fi. We would love to have you stay!

The space
Numbi valley has a unique Self Catering Cottage in a secluded valley near the Little Karoo town of De Rust. Our farm is 100% chemical free and solar operated ( no load shedding here) The cottage is private and perfect for a romantic getaway, family stay or a getaway with friends. We love where we live, and enjoy sharing this magical space with travelers and those interested in nature and sustainable living
We practice permaculture on the farm and have lived entirely off-the-grid and grown all our own food since 2004. Our aim is to live in harmony with our natural world. We don't use any pesticides or harmful chemicals on the farm and offer this opportunity for you to taste and cook with this amazing produce
The clean and cozy cottage is comfortable, with a queen size bed in the main bedroom, two single beds in the second room and a bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. There is an indoor fireplace for cold winter nights, a fully equipped kitchen with a solar 150l fridge/freezer and gas oven/stove, open plan lounge and dining room and 24 hour electricity from the solar panels. Free un-capped wi-fi is available in the cottage.
We keep the cottage very clean, but if it is a tiled sterile modern environment you are after than this is not for you.

We have a wonderfully abundant 20 year old organic garden, chickens for eggs, and an organic Olive Orchard from which we produce oil. During your stay you can try out the farm produce by ordering a basket of freshly picked veggies and fruit to prepare meals with, maybe some fresh eggs, raw honey or Olive Oil. We appreciate the support of our farms produce. Direct from farm to table
We live in a self built Cob Cottage on the farm and are happy to share our knowledge of alternative natural building techniques with you.
The natural pool is free of chlorine and the water is filtered by plants. We ask you please not to use any creams on your skin.
There is a pizza oven and outside barbeque area for you to enjoy, grids are available to use.
Relaxing and therapeutic trigger point massages are offered in the beautiful yoga studio and an interesting garden cob fire-bath can be used.

Our cottage is 100m away, and we welcome you to pop in any time if there are questions or you need assistance, or just for a chat if you feel like it. If not we will respect your privacy.
The pool and pizza area is there for you to enjoy privately.
There are great walks on and around the farm. Great cycling on country roads
Dogs are very welcome, please bring their bedding, use a poop scoop before leaving and please dont allow them into our fenced veggie garden, but they are free to run on the remainder of the 70ha farm xx

Other things to note
The closest small shops are 12km away in the little town of De Rust. There are bigger supermarkets in Oudtshoorn which is 30km away.
We appreciate guests buying and eating organic fresh produce available from the farm. Our organic olive oil is superb
The water on the farm comes from our own Artesian borehole and is wonderful to drink, and 100% safe, please may we request for you not bring plastic water bottles to the farm with you.

We love the dramatic mountains and starry nights of the karoo. We feel fortunate to live in a safe area where there is still wildlife on and around the farm, we often hear Jackal calling at night, or see Kudu wandering in the hills above the farm cottage.
Numbi Valley is perfect for long stays, either to work or to retreat alone or with friends
There are many interesting things to do from the farm like visits to the Cango caves, drive the dramatic Swartberg Pass to the little town of Prince Albert for delicious gourmet lunches or go for a swim in the Meiringspoort waterfall. There are some great Mountain Bike rides from the farm and walks in the hills. But our favorite thing to do is simply to relax on the farm, enjoy the views from the pool(please note this is a shared space with guests staying in the cob cottage) and cottage, maybe listen to music and soak up the country side and peace of the Valley.
Kath is a qualified Yoga teacher and massuese, please enquire if you are interested in any of these. Numbi Valley is the perfect place to retreat to, you can schedule your own time for Yoga and massages. Kath is trained in various styles including Kundalini, Hatha, Vinyasa and is able to guide you through breath work and meditation.
Our neighbours offer great horse riding, and excellent star evenings.

We have been on this beautiful farm for 17 years, growing and supplying organic fruit, veggies and our own extra virgin cold pressed Olive oil to the town of De Rust. Prior to this we managed remote lodges in the beautiful Okavango Delta, Botswana. We recently spent two years in the northern Serengeti, managing a lodge where 1.5 million Wildebeest still follow their ancient migration route. Both of us are passionate about nature and believe in living gently on the earth. We love taking great care of the land hence the practise of Permaculture on our farm. Numbi Valley is a magical place. We would love to share our knowledge on sustainable living and look forward to meeting you. Motto " live simply so others may simply live"
