The Queen's Hut

This picture perfect log cabin sits on the banks of a secluded loch just a stone's throw from Aboyne on Royal Deeside. The Hut was originally built for Queen Mary, the wife of King George V, who enjoyed lunching here during her visits to Balmoral.
The property has recently been renovated to a excellent standard and a special effort has been made to honour the history of the Hut and its location on Royal Deeside.

The space
The master bedroom features a super king size bed, ensuite W/C and a large freestanding copper tub for soaking in the view out over the loch and hillsides beyond. A cosy second bedroom can accommodate two singles or a super king size bed.

With a large window seat for reading or wildlife watching, a dining table for up to 6 people and comfortable seating for playing board games in front of the log-burner, the sitting room provides a perfect place to relax and unwind.
The garden is a wilderness of Scots pine woodland where guests can enjoy sightings of red squirrels, woodpeckers and sometimes even an osprey. Enjoy breakfast on the veranda, a laze on the jetty or a glass of wine by the fire pit, there is plenty of space to take in this magical spot.

Just beyond the garden gate you can find walks that lead around the loch, through ancient forests and out on to the heather-clad hills or instead venture as easily to The Boat Inn for a drink or hearty supper, only a 15-minute stroll away! Further afield, the hut provides a perfect base for exploring Royal Deeside, following the Castle Trail and many other day trips around the North East of Scotland.

The Queen's Hut uniquely pairs seclusion with accessibility, luxury with rusticity and a rich history with modern conveniences, making it the perfect property for a romantic getaway, an escape from it all with friends or small family holidays.
Salmon fishing is available on the Birse Beat of the River Dee (subject to availability and an additional fee).
