Amazing outdoor space

Guests mention the pool and patio as highlights.
Abbots Hill is an elegantly decorated countryside self-catering destination on a hill in the beautiful Cape Winelands with sweeping views of the rolling Swartland hills and valleys.

The large swimming pool and relaxation area and all the bathrooms are newly renovated. All bedrooms are en-suite.

We are set up to avoid load shedding, with a robust 24Kw battery backup system. Enjoy.

Add-ons to enhance your experience are guided wine tours.

The space
Our vast garden has heaps of sun and a large swimming pool, but also beautiful shady areas for relaxing. Relax, browse through our library of books and maps. Take a sip, swim, or read as you admire the spectacular winelands view.

Our guests are here to slow down and experience something memorable. Simple pleasures such as starting your day on the veranda among the birds and the sounds of our working farm will leave a lasting impression.

Guest access
Guest House, pool, pool deck, English garden, scent garden, shady area, kitchen, lounge, library, veranda's, vineyards, paddock, birding area, general farmlands, parking etc.

Other things to note
We have seen more than 70 types of birds on the farm, borrow a bird book from the library.
This is an excellent base to visit the West Coast National Park and its azure lagoon.
We are experienced overlanders. Abbotts Hill is a convenient place for final preparations before setting off.
Please note we have one clip-on highchair and one cot.
Children will have to be monitored closely by their parents or guardians. The general living area lies within the swimming pool security wall and is unfenced.
There are geese, chickens, and dogs on the farm. They generally are not around the guest house but are within the greater residential enclosure.

We are free of loadshedding with solar power.

Where you’ll be

Malmesbury, Western Cape, South Africa

The house is on the highest point amongst the vineyards on Hillcrest Farm in rural Swartland in the Cape Winelands. Our summer is long, rainless and warm and grape harvest is in full swing. Spring offers spectacular wild flower displays bringing birds and people from far and wide. Autumn is a hive of activity with preparations for the short winter that follows.

We are well placed for day trips to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Cape Town, each is 50 minutes away and the West Coast National Park with its azure lagoon is 45 minutes away. Riebeek-Kasteel is only 20 minutes’ drive and is worth visiting for its dining.

My work: African Invite
Speaks English and Swedish
Hi, I am Jim, I’m South African and a registered tourist guide and certified to guide in all 9 provinces for wine, history, culture, and nature. I speak English and Swedish almost fluently and am also a self-taught winemaker (Hunneyball Wines & Abbotts Hill wines in Platters). I will gladly share my stories and knowledge of all aspects of wine enjoyment and production. You can ask me what you like. I also offer wine activities such as grape picking, wine making and blending at Abbotts Hill, a boutique wine farm in the Swartland. I am fully vaccinated and have the required professional driving license, public transport permits and insurances for transporting tourists. I am a Western Cape bird enthusiast and keen photographer. When reading, it’s usually about African history. When not guiding you can look for me in remote places or underwater. I look forward to meeting you
