Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Surrounded by fynbos bush and the sound of birds, you will have a unique nature experience and wake up to the INCREDIBLE views of the majestic Outeniqua mountain range shining in front of you!
We are a simple, off the grid set up so do not expect luxury but rather the simple pleasures and nature in all its glory.
Our property is a work in progress. We dream of creating a sustainable space by restoring our land and respecting nature in the process.

The space
Our cabin is comfortable and spacious and built by us with all the love in the world! Using reclaimed doors and windows, and decorated with old treasures, the space is full of character.
The cabin is surrounded by fynbos & birds and the brilliant Outeniqua Mountains are the perfect view from bed.
There is a little deck off the front for you to enjoy the surrounding scenery and watch the sunset & stars. There is a hot outside shower on the deck as well as a gorgeous free standing bath in the bush with uninterrupted mountain and valley view. There is also a clean compost toilet just off the deck.

We are an eco friendly project & use a solar system for energy. This means NO LOADSHEDDING!!!:) :)This also means that no appliances that are heavy on electricity can be used (such as hairdryers), but lights, and charging of phones and laptops is perfectly fine. There are bedside lamps, a fan in summer and plug point. It is best to charge devices during the sunnier hours of the day and ask your host if you need further information.

We are in nature and therefore sometimes have animal visitors such as baboons, monkeys, bush pig, genet, bushbuck etc so please don't leave food out on the deck when you leave or are out for the day and lock all windows.
In the cabin is a comfy queen size bed and a small desk to work from.
There is a simple kitchen setup, with a double plate gas cooker as well as a small fridge/freezer. We supply tea, coffee, a coffee plunger, mugs, cutlery and crockery and a pot and pan.

We have WIFI in the cabin if you need or wish to use it, guests often work remotely here.

If you bring a child we can supply a floor mattress. Please note that the railing is not toddler safe.

We encourage you to take the time to enjoy the beautiful Wilderness area.
You are able to walk to the stunning Map of Africa view point (about 20 minutes) or enjoy a beautiful private forest walk down to the Kaaimans river (45 minutes) where you will experience true untouched Wilderness and can even have a fresh swim.

The cabin is very safe for females and solo travellers and there is always other people on the property as we live here as well. We have two other Airbnb accommodations on the property and therefore you may see other guests in the garden or car park but once in the cabin area you are completely private and unseen. If you are a bigger group we are able to sleep 6 people in total.

We bought our property 7 years ago and put a lot of work and passion into clearing invasive species and reforestation. What used to be a lifeless piece of land, is now filled with life and love. We invite you to take a walk around our garden, which is home to many indigenous plants and insects, as well as many many birds and animals that wander through from the forest.

Guest access
You can access our property in any car. There is only a short stretch of dirt road.

We have safe parking on the property. You can walk to Map of Africa view point and paragliding jump spot or take a private walk into the forest from your cabin.

Other things to note
We are in a high fire risk area. Therefore we encourage you to be very mindful of smoking (only dispose of cigarette butts in an ashtray or bin) and using the gas cooker. Please no smoking inside. Do not move the gas cooker outside the cabin and be responsible when extinguishing cigarette butts. We have provided a fire extinguisher in the cabin for emergencies.
Take a moment to familiarise yourself with where the fire extinguisher is in the cabin
