Get away, truly away, in one of the most soulful places in South Africa. The Cottage in the Kloof is nestled in pristine, serene surrounds in Robertson’s Nuy Valley… the sounds of nature and beautiful 360° views can be appreciated from your very own stone cottage just kilometres from a quaint craft brewery and restaurant, and wine farm.

The space
Relax in our stunning, spacious and character-filled stone cottage in the midst of the Nuy Valley wilderness. Open the natural wooden doors, sit on your private wooden deck with a cup of coffee and relax with beautiful Kloof views that stretch for miles while listening to the sounds of busy birds flitting from tree to tree. Nestled deep in the Nuy Valley between Robertson and Worcester, only an hour and a half from Cape Town, lies the soulful Cottage in the Kloof. This heritage building sleeps four comfortably with all the modern comforts such as solar power, private braai and hot water with the rustic splendour of a striking kloof backdrop to complete your memorable retreat.

Spend the evening in the wood fired jacuzzi, watching the stars and enjoying the quiet of the night.

There is a sofa bed in the lounge should you prefer to sleep there but it is only made up on request

During the course of 2018 we put some game onto the farm, and the cottages are now part of the wildlife reserve (hence the reason for no pets allowed)

It is one of two exclusive units in the mountains behind our farm - each, unique and offering privacy and memorable experiences. The 2 cottages are close enough for security but not too close to disturb your privacy

There is NO 240V power - the cottage only has 12V power with no plug points. There is a USB charging spot, and you can charge laptops and other devices at the restaurant, or pack in a power bank :)

We do not take bookings for Sunday evenings so that weekend guests are able to enjoy the stay till late on a Sunday

Saggy Stone Pub is located on the farm which is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am till 4pm - beer tasting, pub lunches and pizzas make it a not-to-be-missed part of your stay

Guest access
Rooiberg Breederiver Conservancy MTB trail which starts at the pub

Wine and Olive tastings in the nearby Robertson and Worcester Wine Routes

River Boat Cruises at Kolgans and Viljoensdrift

Other things to note
Best accessible with a high clearance vehicle (not necessary for a 4x4) - it is a 4km gravel road into the mountains. Please contact us prior to arrival to check on accessibility. There have been occasions where guests have driven a small sedan up - but that is dependent on how careful you wish to drive - the 4x4 or 2x4 saves your nerves! Please, no low-profile tyres

I am a friendly, energetic person who loves meeting new people. My husband, Adrian, and I run Saggy Stone Brewery and our family fruit farm in the Robertson valley. We love the outdoors and the solitude of Namibia when on holiday
