Casa Gela Eden is a prime location for exploring Merida & it's a perfect space for couples, solo adventurers, & business travellers.

The space
Casa Gela Eden is a light-infused, spanking new refuge in lovely Santiago, the hottest neighborhood in Merida. The house was designed by well-known architect, Victor Carillo. Because this is our winter home, you will find it well-equipped and comfortable - a fully complemented kitchen (juicer, microwave, blender, cold water receptacle in fridge); comfy queen-size beds with quality linens & excellent hot showers; easy access pool in very private courtyard with hammock and a relaxing reclining area; a BBQ; 2 bicycles; TV with Chromecast/Netflix & a bluetooth speaker/radio; stylish decor, lush gardens and local art; bedrooms and bathrooms in two separate buildings provide maximum privacy; air conditioning and ceiling fans in every room; lots of sexy lighting including mood lamps in the pool; 3 convenient bathrooms; weekly pool maintenance provided at no extra cost. You will never be hot in this house - it is open, breezy and has superlative air flow.

NOTE! Electricity is expensive in Mexico and the more that is consumed the higher the rate is.

Where you’ll be

Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico

Santiago is a hopping neighborhood in Merida Centro. Our casa is on a sweet street with excellent neighbors. We are a short walk to the fabulous Santiago Market and Park where you will find a fresh produce, meat & flower market, lots of delicious food stands/comidas, a yummy fresh juice place, a gorgeous church & a peaceful park with a fountain. Yoga is offered in the early mornings a few days a week & live jazz plays in the park on Tuesday evenings where you can enjoy watching the locals dance.

Also very close to home by foot - a large supermarket (on the next block), PeMex (gas station - fill bike tires here!), a few pharmacies, a movie theatre, a massage/aesthetic shop, an OXXO (corner store), fresh flower shops, the excellent coffee shops Bengala KaffeeHaus and Manifesto (both on Calle 59), Local 59 (a lovely breakfast/brunch and yummy pastry place just steps away) neighborhood bars, art galleries, restaurants, HSBC Bank, a hospital/clinic and the Parque del Centenario, which also has a small zoo. There's even a Tarot Card reader a few blocks down calle 59 - 536A! Every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning don't miss the Slow Food Market for delicious, locally grown and prepared organic edibles. It's a wonderful place to have breakfast, too! Calle 33D y 72.

Of course the hip and delicious Parque Santa Lucia, the always exciting, buzzing Plaza Grande, and the glorious Paseo de Montejo, are all only a 20-30 minute walk away. If you have legs and energy, there's not a chance of getting bored when you stay at Casa Gela Eden!

Merida has A LOT to offer - bicycle rentals on the Montejo every Sunday (don't miss this!), the incredible Museo del Mundo Maya (the rich history of the Mayans, our sweet, welcoming hosts here in the Yucatan), world-renowned archaeological sites a short drive away (Dzibilchaltun and Uxmal, to name a couple), stunning cenotes (EVERYWHERE!), the beaches just half an hour north of Merida (Progresso is worth a visit), some of the best restaurants in Mexico (start researching now!!), great theatre, opera, concerts and art ( (URL HIDDEN) ), the Merida English Library (always bursting with scheduled activities and resources), haciendas, horse and buggy rides, bus tours, Pok ta Pok (intrigued?), Carnival Merida.......... whew!

There's simply way too much to list here, but please check out the following sites to get you started:
