Oaklands is a fabulous group accommodation option! Lots of outdoor activities and games available. An hour from Cape Town, it's beautiful, quiet & rustic. Relaxed living spaces; we comfortable beds in converted stables, a massive lawn (there's even croquet), outdoor barbecue and fire pit, and a dam to swim in. Fantastic scenery, mountain biking & walking trails. Great for birthday parties, family holidays and other special events. WiFi available. Helpful hosts :) We look forward to hosting you!

The space
Welcome to the Oaklands Stables accommodation. You can expect basic, rustic but comfortable accommodation with plenty of mountains, some isolation, dam for swimming and a great lawn :) Winter brings with it marvels of flowing rivers and an overflowing dam, while summer allows guests to play games on the giant lawn or cool off in the dam or nearby rockpools of Bainskloof! An ideal location for your holiday, or special event. If you are planning on making fires please consider buying wood from our employee Chris, they are large bags sold at R50/bag, these are helping with our alien tree clearing initiative, wood can be arranged before arrival and paid for in cash upon arrival.

We are slowly converting stable doors into full doors, some of the bedrooms only have half stable doors. The pricing is R4000 per night up to 10 guests and then an additional R350 per person. A discount can be negotiated for a large group!!
• Basic kitchen amenities for 34, kitchen is well equipped.
• Lounge and dining area with a indoor fireplace.
• Large lawn at the center of the stable block with fire pit and movable barbecue. Please take note that all fires need to be supervised at all times. Crochet playing set is available for on the lawn as well as a table tennis table.
• You come here to get away from technology. There is WiFi at the stables for WhatsApp calling otherwise you may need to drive off the property to get cellular signal.
•At an additional camping fee of R250 per person for the weekend. We can accommodate extra guests to camp at the nearby Manor House. This is very basic but a great spot. It has flushing loos and wonderful donkey boilers to supply your bucket showers!
• Accessing the farm will take you onto a dirt road that is well maintained but does have some areas that may be affected by rain and small potholes, especially on the municipal road. We recommend driving slowly and carefully.
• If you need more information than is in this description you are welcome to message me and I will answer any of your queries.

Where you’ll be

Cape Winelands, Western Cape, South Africa

Wellington is a very popular little wine land town with everything you need, and ideally situated to explore the famous Boland and Swartland wine farms. Many neighbouring farms have restaurants and wine-tasting facilities, and the area is famed for its fantastic hiking, and mountain biking.
Interesting activities in the area I would suggest include:
- Imbuko wine estate in Wellington for a pie and wine pairing
- Extensive walking and mountain-biking trails take you all over the farm. These trails have featured in the Cape Epic Mountain Bike Race.
- Doolhof Estate for lunch and wine tasting (cycle or walk there!)
- Welvanpas for their lovely carrot cake and coffee, meet the direct descendants of Piet Retief (cycle or walk there!).
- Hike up the Bainskloof river (go early, wear hats and sunblock).
- Further afield go to Babylonstoren (amazing gardens and fine dining), Fairview (cheese and wine), Riebeekkasteel (olives), Paarl Spice Route, and many other places of interest
- Shoe shopping at Redemption leather works
