Experience being in the trees, falling asleep under the stars and waking up to the sound of birdsong in this spectacular treehouse. If you are looking for an intimate, simple and restful retreat, look no further.

The space
Towering six meters above the Tessungåe river that runs down from the great plateau of Norway, Hardangervidda, you will feel truly immersed in nature from your unique vantage point. Take in unparalleled views over the rushing river and into the forest beyond through full-length windows spanning the entire living area.

The cleverly designed space has a surprisingly generous capacity, so not only is it ideal for a couple on a romantic getaway, it can also accommodate families and large groups. On the lower level, you will find two sleeping alcoves, complete with premium double mattresses and leafy views. Upstairs in the mezzanine, there is a cosy sleeping loft with queen sized bed, panoramic windows and a huge skylight, so you can enjoy a magical moment drifting off to sleep with a view of the constellations above. You'll surely sleep soundly here at the treehouse!

Light candles in the evening and cook up a storm in the fully functioning kitchen, which features a powerful gas stove and all the necessary equipment.

Dine on the covered terrace with the river flowing below you, while being enveloped in thick greenery from the trees that support the treehouse. It’s an enchanting place to drink a coffee watch the sun set or the snow fall, while staying warm curled up in a soft woollen blanket. The terrace also includes a full sized bed, so those who want a real outdoors experience can sleep here in summer.

You will never feel cold in this well-insulated treetop cabin thanks to double glazed windows and an efficient wood fired stove taking pride of place in the center. You can enjoy long evenings in golden light, feeding the fire with firewood felled sustainably from the surrounding forest.

Heat up some crystal-clear river water and wash yourself with an Indian-style bucket bath in the custom designed wet room. We also have an sauna over at the camp, where you can easily fit 3-4 people. It's about 100 meters from the treehouse.

You also have access to your own heated, well maintained outdoor composting toilet, designed to adhere to our eco-friendly principles.

Instead of electricity, we provide candles, solar lamps and a solar phone charger. If you need to connect to the outside world, free WiFi is available in the nearby cabin (50 meters walk), along with plenty of power-points for charging.

In this secluded off-grid retreat, you will have a memorable experience made up of the simple pleasures that come from slowing down and disconnecting from technology, all while savoring the comforts of top quality modern architecture.

The surrounding nature is an old pine and spruce forest, with a variety of animal life and loads of river trout in the stream. Depending on the season, you can fish or forage for mushrooms and wild berries. No matter the time of year, all can be observed through the “eye” or the front window of the cabin.

There are different hikes and cross-country skiing opportunities just around the cabin, but if you drive just a bit up the valley it is easy to access Hardangervidda, which is one of northern europe's biggest national parks and plateaus. Featuring stunning landscapes and scenic lakes, the area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities such as biking, skiing, and fishing.

You can also travel to World Heritage Listed Rjukan where you’ll find both hikes and a very intriguing war history. Situated in a deep valley, the beautiful architectural buildings are cast in shadow by the surrounding mountains, even in the middle of the day, for 6 months out of the year. Giant mirrors were installed to reflect sunlight down into the town, which is a sight to behold.

45 minutes away, you'll find Gaustatoppen, one of the most beautiful mountains in Norway with an altitude of 1883 meters. If the weather is fine, you can see all the way south to the coast and eastward to Sweden. It's possible to see one sixth of the country from the summit.

Hi! My name is Isaac and with loads of help from family and friends, I have been building a place to experience the Norwegian nature in an authentic, simple and inexpensive way. The goal is to make a great place to camp, hang out and do different activities along the untouched river Tessungåe. I have developed a collection of small living spaces in tents, cabins and treehouses. The outdoor facilities are shared, and we have recently finished some great additions like heated bathtubs by the river and an outdoor kitchen. Next up: a sauna! It’s the perfect place to take a break from everyday life and meet new people from all over the world. There are a range of possibilities to explore nature, do exciting sports like kayaking and kiting, as well as discover great fishing and skiing spots. Looking forward to meeting you!
