Designed by architect Rod Lloyd, Xairu offers self-catering accommodation for six, with stunning views from every room. The house is named for the original Khoi-San word for this region, meaning ‘place of paradise.’ Enjoy spectacular sunsets and vistas all the way to Cape Point from the decks and balconies. Xairu is close to shark diving, Cape winelands and excellent hiking. This architectural gem is equipped with quality linens and complete kitchen. Xairu is good for couples and families.

The space
A spacious, modernist home offering fantastic sea views from every room. Fully equipped kitchen with gas hob and dishwasher. Large Weber grill for outdoor braais. Open plan ground floor includes kitchen, dining room and small lounge. Downstairs includes Morsø stove with radiant chimney, which extends into the upstairs lounge. Master bedroom and guest bedroom are on the mezzanine level. Upstairs main lounge also includes a wood burning fireplace, wraparound sea and mountain views, sun-drenched window seats, sunset deck and television. The third bedroom and en-suite half-bath are upstairs.

Guest access
Guests have access to the full house, including clothes washer/dryer in the closet next to the kitchen and pantry.

Other things to note
Cape winters can be chilly. The house has portable heaters, wall heaters and extra duvets/blankets, please don't hesitate to ask about them. We cannot guarantee the house will be stocked up on wood for the Morsø stove and/or fireplace, so please make sure wood and kindling are on your shopping list when you arrive.

The house is equipped with a security system and armed response. Please follow the operating instructions for the security remote control carefully. The security system should be armed when you sleep at night, and anytime you leave the premises.

Location

Gansbaai, Western Cape, South Africa

Gansbaai is a working fishing village. It is world-reknowned for land-based whale watching and cage dives to view Great White sharks. Unlike our neighbor across Walker Bay, the town of Hermanus, Gansbaai is not a highly developed holiday destination. But if the Great Outdoors is your aim it offers charm aplenty.
