Room 5 in historical house with pool & 360 toproof

The striking facade of the restored mansion is highlighted by its traditional design, featuring tall, arched windows and a thatched roof. A mix of natural stone and greenery creates an inviting presence, surrounded by the vibrant rooftops of Lamu Old Town.

#Waterfront view - House or Room

DeeRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Samaki house was great place to immerse yourself in Lamu’s culture. The house itself boasts beautiful Swahili finishes along with a stunning view from the terrace. The location is within walking distance to several local restaurants, land marks and is located near the Main Street where all the local stores are. Moses, the house manager, was extremely helpful. Breakfast was an added bonus, and the provision of different breakfast options was very appreciated.

Room 4 in historical house with pool and top roof

PennyRating, 5 stars17 months ago
This is a really charming guesthouse in the old town. We spent most of our time on the roof terrace which was divine. We took daily dips in the pool and enjoyed the tortoises. Giles and Fabienne are great hosts. Do get Mbogo to buy you fresh fish from the market to barbecue on the rooftop …. It was excellent … highly recommended !
A spacious rooftop terrace features traditional wooden furniture including a table and chairs. A hammock is suspended nearby, while decorative lanterns add character. Lush greenery and distant rooftops can be viewed, providing a tranquil escape in a breezy setting.

Stunning 360° View from Roof Top Terrace

Beautiful house well located in Lamu Town with kitchen and roof top terrace. Katana, who looks after the house and its guests, is a very nice guy and super helpful. He also prepared the breakfast, which I really enjoyed. Lovely place!

Room 3 in historical house with pool and top roof

LynneRating, 5 stars5 months ago
The house manager was lovely--met me at the airport, took me back, helped with what I'd come to Lamu to do (which wasn't his job), cooked as requested. And the house is, of course, just beautiful...very special. Restored with care, loved the plants (all the cacti upstairs, some of which were quite unusual), and spent a lot of time upstairs too. Highly recommended, including for big groups.
A well-maintained corridor features a smooth red floor with a modern design. Light-colored walls are accented with pink trim, and several windows are arranged alongside the entrance door. The atmosphere reflects a welcoming space leading to guest accommodations.

Jua House B&B Single Room

CarrieRating, 5 stars4 months ago
I instantly felt right at home. Thomas, Amani and all the staff were very accommodating and were responsive to anything I needed. The breakfast is amazing (make sure to try the banana pancakes and the vegetable scrambled eggs). They make almost everything in-house so you really feel like you're eating a home-cooked meal. The afternoon tea and snack was perfect while I needed to work remotely and the wifi worked very well in the common areas so I was able to get a lot of work done during my stay. The bed was comfy, the water was hot, the room was spotless and it felt like a home away from home. Thank you!

Jua House B&B Double Room

StormRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Jua House, exudes calm and tranquility. Pale colours and clean spaces invite book reading, chilling and time to unplug. Amani and his team couldn’t be more helpful. Hot showers after a morning swim in the sea, Belgian waffle towels and a banquet style breakfast was our daily morning routine. After this we retreated to the top floor with views all around. The hush of the sea stirs in the background. Fresh baking bread wafts up from the bakery on the ground floor. Village life occurs around about, so you feel part of the Shela community, who are welcoming and helpful. It feels like a privilege to be here in Lamu. Thank you.

JamboHouse Lamu - ensuite, upper floor, balcony

NgugiRating, 5 stars55 months ago
My stay at Jambo House was absolutely amazing. I had booked 4 days but Lamu was so good I added an extra day at the end of my stay. Jambo house is located in Lamu town close to the waterfront. The rooms are clean and there is a rooftop terrace with wifi, sockets and a magnificent view of Lamu old town and a glimpse of the sea. Arnold the proprietor is very knowledgeable on activities you can do in Lamu and he helped me get alternatives you couldn't get at any other stay. Arnold himself is a traveler and shares a lot of insights and we often chatted for hours about travelling. Fred made delicious breakfast every morning and it was always served with 2 different fruits and fresh juice. Jambo is a great place for a budget traveler and I would recommend it for anyone who want's a cozy place and lots of information on Lamu and the surrounding islands. I'm definitely going back.

Historic Amu House in Lamu Town (Ensuite Pvt Room)

JuliaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Our 2-night stay at Amu house was a dream. We were specifically interested in staying in Lamu's Old Town in contrast with accommodations in the more touristy resort-studded area of Shela, and we were not disappointed! Between wandering the local alleys filled with locals of all ages and donkeys, relaxing at night on the roof with views of boats in the harbor, surrounded by the sounds of the Ramadan prayers, we felt totally immersed in the unique, rich Swahili culture of Lamu Island. And this is to say nothing of the beautiful, comfortable, spacious accommodations of Amu house! Check-in was a breeze: Mohammed Aweso from Amu house met us promptly at the airport, where he led us on a short boat ride and a 3 min walk to the house. After a quick tour of the house, Mohammed offered to arrange any number of excursions and activities for us throughout our stay. We took up on his offer for a walking tour of Old Town, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We can't wait to return again!

JamboHouse Lamu - self-contained, upper floor

ChenRating, 5 stars8 months ago
I couldn't think of a better place to stay in Lamu! Located in a typical Lamu building, the location gave you easy access to everything, as well as meaningful interactions with the residents in the area. Room was as described and appeared even better than in the pictures. Just one thing to remind everyone is that there did not appear to be hot water for shower, but I was totally fine with it! Arnold was very helpful in giving out recommendations/ hidden gems and helped us to arrange a very authentic dhow evening trip! The breakfast french toast was to die for, but there are also gazillion a of other items on the menu to choose from. JamboHouse Lamu is THE place to stay at for any visit to Lamu and I 100 percent recommend Arnold & team to everyone!
