Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

The Machiya Inn「Crimson」has been converted into the licensed accommodation, which can accommodate up to 4 people. We rent a house out to only one group at a time. This means that you have an entire house for yourselves. Perfectly comfortable for couples and best fitted for families or groups. It retains some classic Kyoto exteriors and interiors, western comforts like beds, kitchenette, dining table and chairs are also well furnished. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts.
