Cozy Pet Friendly Cabin In Hocking Hills w/Hot Tub

KellyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Very quaint and cozy cabin near Hocking Hills, with great amenities like the hot tub and dog outdoor dog washing station! I’ve never went with my dog or been to one that welcomed dogs so didn’t know what to expect in the way of odors. But there wasn’t any, I was so relieved. Plus they had treats, and toys for it out, so thoughtful. Plus, there was nothing that wasn’t thought of to make sure stay very comfortable. Mara and Carl went out of their way to help us with a few Internet issues and we’re just very attentive and thoughtful hosts. This place is a little gem tucked away and very private! So don’t hesitate!

Cabin on a Highland cattle ranch in Hocking Hills

RoxanneRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Margot and her husband John, and of course Jim the herd dog were all extremely welcoming! My husband and I felt like family! We wanted a peaceful, relaxing getaway for my husband's birthday/our wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed at all! I am a big Highland cow fan, and John took us out to the pasture to get right with the cows! I got the most beautiful pictures to print and hang in my kitchen! Margot and John are such a warm, loving couple. You can just feel the warmth from their hearts! We will definitely be coming back, we want to bring our grandchildren next time.

Monarch Pond Cabin Hocking Hills, Ohio

Great amenities. Has a lot of indoor entertainment. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals. Has a nice multi-tier deck that we enjoyed spending time on. It was very quiet and peaceful and although there are plenty of houses around it still felt very private. The lake is nicel and was a popular spot among guests.

Wooded Acreage, Hot Tub, Fire Pits & Koi Pond

Great place, easy to find and a beautiful property. The only thing we would note is to bring your own water, the water smells strongly of sulfur but not a big deal as long as you have your own to drink!

#Golden Hills - Hocking Hills Cabin

MichaelRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Such a great spot. Personally, I had a little trouble with the camper stove, but I'm not super adept with working cooking equipment. Cameron had an air fryer and grill to boot. no sweat. This was the PERFECT get away spot. Gorgeous hikes so close, an awesome place to crash. If the weather had been nicer, would have loved to sit at any one of fire pits and relaxing Adirondack chair setups. Just keep a screen shot of code Cameron sends, service out in the hills can be tricky. Great time - hoping to get back.

We really enjoyed our stay! It was our first time to the Hocking Hills area. We were very close to a variety of the hiking areas and close to restaurants. The patio area was great to enjoy our morning coffee. And it was nice to have a relaxing spot to come back to at the end of the day.

R and R Chalet

My husband and I and our 2 kids really enjoyed our weekend getaway at Hocking Hills, and we really loved the cabin. I was so happy upon walking in to see how clean it was. The beds were very comfortable and so were the pillows. Our kids enjoyed curling up in the living room and watching cartoons in the mornings, and they both loved the cabin. The fire pit area was awesome, our kids loved having nightly fires and roasting hot dogs on the fire. We hope to stay in this cabin again next year!

Passion at The Patch

TerahRating, 5 starstoday
Passion at the Patch was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary and a little rest and relaxation! It was so beautiful, clean, relaxing and so much to do right at the property that we only left once to go for a small hike. We took a nap on the suspended hammock which was so peaceful! Emily was wonderful to work with. Excellent and thorough instructions and very prompt via text and Airbnb app. Also, had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival 🥂 Thank you! If you have the chance to book Passion at the Patch, do it!! One of the best properties I’ve booked through Airbnb. We will be returning the next trip we take to Hocking Hills!

Your guide to Hocking County

Welcome to Hocking County

Hocking County occupies a quiet patch of southeastern Ohio, not far from the thriving city of Columbus yet a world apart. It’s filled with rolling hills, gentle streams and creeks, and expansive hardwood forests of hickory, white ash, black walnut, oak, and maple. Don’t expect much in the way of bustle here; this is where you go to let the world slide away. Hocking County remains largely rural, with the occasional town and village appearing amid the hills and valleys. The county has but a single city, Logan, whose population barely tops 7,100. The main lures hereabouts are the lovely parks, bluffs, waterfalls, caves, and dense woodlands, found in places such as Cantwell Cliffs, Clear Creek Metro Park (which has 5,300 acres of sandstone cliffs and woods), Hocking Hills State Park, and the sprawling Wayne National Forest, which overlaps the eastern part of the county.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Hocking County

Hocking County has appeal year-round, but prime visitor season runs from spring through fall. In April and May, high temperatures will reach the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit, and can fall into the 30s and 40s at night. Hiking trails and swimming holes get busy June through August, when daytime highs are in the 80s and nights are often comfortably in the 60s. Fall brings a quieter vibe to the region as temperatures drop off, bringing in winter with occasional snows, lows in the teens, and highs typically just above freezing. Festival lovers should plan to visit between May and October, when many weekends will find gatherings to celebrate locally distilled drinks, lilies, pawpaws, and coal. Logan is home to the last washboard manufacturing company in the United States, which is celebrated during Washboard Fest on Father’s Day weekend in June.

Top things to do in Hocking County

Hocking Hills State Park

This well-forested 2,000-acre state park offers plenty to enthrall outdoor lovers. Pet-friendly trails lead hikers to waterfalls (although swimming is forbidden) and small caves. Among the more popular destinations is the roughly hour-long hike to Old Man’s Cave, and the short but pleasant footpath to Whispering Cave, a 300-foot recessed cave with a waterfall. Another highlight of the park is Ash Cave, which is accessed through a narrow gorge studded with hemlocks and beech trees. The horseshoe-shaped shelter runs 700 feet from end to end and is named after a large pile of ashes discovered there by early settlers.

John Glenn Astronomy Park

The John Glenn Astronomy Park, located within Hocking Hills State Park, celebrates the beloved astronaut and first Ohioan in space with this compact park-within-a-park created to draw your attention to the heavens above. The park is designed around a main plaza that, like Stonehenge, focuses the sun’s rays on a central point on the first day of each season. On weekend evenings spring through fall, docents offer guided tours of the stars and planets through an impressive 28-inch telescope in a small observatory; programs are offered on clear nights only, so if conditions appear iffy, call ahead to check.

Zipline and canopy tours

There’s no need to spend all your time on the ground looking up at the abundant and lush trees hereabouts. Hocking County boasts a mix of some 60 zipline and canopy tours led by three companies that allow you to see eye-to-eye with the birds, no matter your experience.
