Services and experiences on Airbnb must meet our basic standards. Services and experiences hosted by individual hosts are vetted by Airbnb for quality. For experiences offered by businesses, Airbnb evaluates ratings and reviews of their listings on third-party websites (where available) and also relies on representations from business hosts that they vet their personnel who are hosting reservations. Quality vetting is performed to help guests book with confidence.
In reviewing whether hosts and their offerings meet these standards, Airbnb considers criteria like years of experience, education, certifications, awards, strong portfolios, creative offerings, and guest reviews.
Airbnb reviews information provided by hosts during the onboarding process and partners with third-party providers that help us vet certain host qualifications. Depending on the specific activity being hosted, our vetting process may include some or all of the following:
After we determine that a service or experience is qualified for our platform, we regularly evaluate ratings, reviews, and other quality signals to help confirm that hosts follow our host ground rules for services and experiences.
Some experiences may be hosted by a business. You will know this when a listing displays a business name as a host and a company logo or other corporate image is used for a host’s profile photo. For experiences hosted by businesses, we evaluate any ratings and reviews of their listings on third-party websites and we also rely on contractual promises from these business hosts to perform vetting of their personnel who are hosting reservations. We do not vet or review any information about these personnel unless the business hosts have added them to their listings as co-hosts.
