Let's face it, as far as Guinea goes, Conakry has a lot to offer. But if you're looking for the subtle beauties of the REAL Guinea, you have to go inland. Saramoussaya offers a good look at genuine village life. In my house I have a real bed with a mosquito net, a solar panel for charging phones, computers etc. And although there is no running water, I've rigged up a hand/dish washing sink and an overhead shower. I also have a gas stove for cooking. Plus, my next door neighbor is a baker :)

About 50 km from the Kaloum Peninsula, this place is a pleasant day trip or a stopover on the road to Bel-Air. The waves of the river flow from a rock wall a few dozen meters wide and about 15 meters high and crash against the natural steps below. A dazzling spectacle when the sun illuminates it during the day. A large terrace offers panoramic views of the waterfalls.
