What you'll do

Explore the beauty of the Cape of Good Hope on foot.

We'll spend the day at the incredible Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park, mostly on foot, where I'll interpret the natural environment as we hike this special corner of the planet!

The day will start with me meeting you bright & early in the city & along the drive we'll pop in at one of my favorite bakeries in Kalk Bay for a takeaway coffee & pastry before passing through Simon's Town where we'll encounter our endangered African Penguins. Continuing southwards we head to Cape Point to really start the outdoor adventure!

Think rugged trails, dramatic mountain peaks, sandy stretches of white sand beach & diverse vegetation (fynbos)...all in relatively quiet spaces.

Large wildlife roams these parts including Eland, Bontebok, Chacma Baboon & Cape Mountain Zebra. We may even get treated to a Cape Clawless Otter sighting along the coast!

Depending on time of year we'll tackle a 3hr mountainous morning hike and a 2.5hr coastal hike during the mid-afternoon.

Between the hikes we'll also walk to a quiet vantage site at Cape Point to look over Dias Beach & the lighthouses and we may see thousands of Cormorants coming & going from nesting sites as we enjoy a picnic lunch.

At the end of the day we'll drive back into Cape Town via Chapman's Peak which will coincide with sunset at certain times of year.

We'll experience the Cape of Good Hope uniquely!

Growing up within the boundaries of the incredible Table Mountain National Park I had the mountains of Silvermine as my literal backyard. This is where my love for the Table Mountain range all began!

Fast forward 30 years and today I'm a full-time mountain guide in the Western Cape with professional accreditation by the legal bodies in South Africa after starting out in 2007 as a volunteer guide with school children.

Sharing my love for nature by leading interpretive nature trails & adventurous hikes across the fynbos covered mountains of the Cape allows me to live out my passion daily.

Where you'll be

We drive the Cape Peninsula, passing through coastal towns of Kalk Bay & Simon's Town for coffee & responsibly encountering our endangered African Penguins.

Our main aim is to get hiking at the Cape of Good Hope, immersing ourselves in the Cape Floral Kingdoms’ incredible flora. We'll also walk to my favorite spot to absorb the drama of Cape Point & Dias Beach for an environmentally conscious picnic lunch away from the masses.

Wow, what an experience! I can’t imagine spending a more enjoyable and educational day. We hiked trails that I wouldn’t have found on my own. Justin is a wiz at nature interpretation. The Cape peninsula has a set of environmental conditions found nowhere else in the world resulting in flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world and Justin is the man to show and tell you all about it. He is not only knowledgeable but also personable. He loves his work and his enthusiasm is contagious. You will finish the day exhausted and totally satisfied.

Justin has a very through knowledge of plant and animal species in the Cape. He provided insight whenever we walked past foliage or animals along the way. The whole tour was a great experience with plenty of local touches.

I highly recommend this experience! Justin is a passionate expert on the Cape wildlife and flora. He pointed out things that I would’ve never noticed, and he could spot animals from a great distance, which he always pointed out. The pickup/drop off was incredibly helpful, and the breakfast/lunch options were great. I feel like I experienced the Cape of Good Hope in a unique way that I would have never experienced myself. :)
