Many artists have also made their home in the medina attracted by the tranquility and the beautiful light emanating from the river and sea. Azemmour has an annual Art festival in May, when the medina is painted with wonderful murals. It is just 1 hour by taxi from Casablanca airport, from Marrakech it's 3 hours by road (N7), and is a wonderful restful place to spend a few days or more wandering around the medina, swimming in the sea, and taking a boat trip on the river.
